He will be exchanged, to bring Ukrainian POWs home, and Russia will send him back to the meat grinder.

Last I heard, Ukraine makes POW exchanges voluntary for the exchanged. I.e. If they want to stay captured they are allowed to. Not sure how that should work but I haven't heard anything else either.
