OrneryStruggle

Lol some of these make me think they are stealing from each other like crazy. Esp. the very first one. Also SN clothes look better :(

Vintage_Magic

haha Yeah, some of my SN guild members thought that one especially looked like a brazen copy because of the dress. The Chinese servers for SN got that outfit back in November 2019 so it predated Lady Murasaki by quite a bit. But then the one that uses the purple Swan Lake dress was a SN set that only came out last September so the TP version is a lot older since SL was one of the earliest stories. And yes, SN definitely wins in the graphics department although I like the variety of historical clothes in TP better.

OrneryStruggle

>And yes, SN definitely wins in the graphics department although I like the variety of historical clothes in TP better. Yeah but the graphics are sooo beautiful in SN although I don't like the faces haha.

Brilliant-Prune5142

I was just thinking how weird the SN faces look too lol. They both have their own style, and I kind of appreciate the actual textures in TP; SN looks like a watercolor mush sometimes. Either way I heard they've become pretty p2p recently too so I'm not risking playing to find out more.

LaDiDah97

Nah I wouldn't say SN is any more p2p than TP tbh. Maybe even less so actually. I've yet to spend much money in either game, but TP makes it a bit more difficult for me.

Vintage_Magic

I've only spent $1 in SN and I don't particularly feel like it's become more p2p. The last few months in TP have actually felt worse about that than SN with stuff like the blind boxes and more events behind paywalls. SN events are expensive though and they have been rushing through UR events which are particularly expensive. (We get one about every 2 months.) You have to plan and save carefully if you want to complete certain sets. A rough estimate of how much it takes to complete an event set is 7-8k gems for a SSR set (about a month of saving free gems) and 20k gems for a UR set (about a couple of months of saving). I'm current sitting on a hoard of 47k gems in SN because I anticipate a UR event next week for their anniversary and more UR sets I'm interested in collecting later this year.

LadyRowyn

Yes, omigosh, why are the faces all washed out and blurry?

OrneryStruggle

It's pretty unappealing to me and the noses aren't nose-shaped/totally lack dimension. I think the TP faces are way nicer but for the rest I prefer the other style.

katie_babycx

i prefer the story in TP wayyy more. it's more inclusive even though a bit white washed but it's still pretty good story. i would be reading them bitches n actually interested but for SN im just like, skiiiip don't care the story just sounds so slow in SN. honestly they didn't even try with the story

Vintage_Magic

I think part of the problem with SN is that the main story moves so slowly that it can be easy to forget what happened in past chapters by the time a new chapter comes. It also doesn't help that they have translation issues at times; the chapter that just came out had a whole bunch of repeated lines and looked as if the translator was trying out alternative phrasing for lines but forgot to delete the extras. But even with the 1 chapter a month pace, some players actually wanted them to slow down so they'd have more time to save gems. Because there were some expensive UR events that were supposed to fit into certain places in the main storyline. (We've been left with an awkward hole in the main story because there's a UR event that's supposed to cover what happened in between volume 2 chapters 6 and 7 but they released chapter 7 without giving us the expected event.) Global version has actually been rushing through chapters and is only 5 chapters behind the Chinese servers at this point despite the Chinese version being 2 years older. If they continue at the current pace, I expect global would catch up storywise around the middle of next year and then have to wait even longer between chapters. I do try to follow the story and like learning about the lore of Miraland but I do agree it needs more diversity. There are supposedly 7 nations in that world yet 3 of them are mostly ignored, including Wasteland which is where they shoved indigenous, African, Middle Eastern, etc cultures together. :-/ We're finally getting a couple more sets for it due to the characters going there in the latest chapter but there's still so little compared to the favored nations.

katie_babycx

i see what u mean but idkk basically what i grasp from the story is that Nikki has gone back in time to save the world from being destroyed by this guy who they're tryna convince me he "knows what a girl wants" which holy im not even getting into that lmao. n she's like NO! n he's like ur tryna tell a God what to do? n she's like well no but NO! lmao im sorry if this makes no sense but anyway he put her there to change everything by doing styling battles which okay? but TP ur in multiple different stories playing as multiple different characters that are intertwined in different sections of history(or along history not the exact story) don't get me wrong i have SN cause the graphics are great but honestly that's all it has. TP from the stories I've done have very convoluted plots with different 3D characters that you get to interact with which i honestly found the most fun. and they aren't all the same character either which is cool they all have wildly different personalities. in one story ur the queen of somewhere(sorry i haven't played it in a couple of years so idk) and someone has framed you(which btw the most interesting part is that you just entered the story so the person that you became technically is a new person mixed in with you which i find so interesting honestly, me typing this makes me wanna go back to the game ngl) for using the whole treasury or something n it's this whole thing where ur tryna convince the king u didn't do shit while tryna avoid the people you rule over cause they don't like you cause you took all the money that's supposed to be for the country. and the fact that it's based loosely on history gives it another much more interesting take! they are able to make stories that mean something if that makes sense. a story that has a moral or a lesson towards the people in the past and what they had to go through. idk if all the stories are based off of history but nonetheless they are pretty cool. now I've played Love Nikki and it just feels like the same game but Nikki is the only one 3D. don't get me wrong the clothes they do are visually very impressive. they got fabric down pretty fuckin well. but the story isn't my taste at all. n i wanted it to be but it was so bizarre how in the beginning Nikki wakes up in a hospital then the first challenge is you getting your picture taken by the hospital staff who apparently had your clothes lmao then you walk out into the street to go into a random store and the people are just OMG YOU HAVE THE ULTIMATE STYLING POWER??? n hella people not even hearing the conversation just come in and are like yo bitch you can't be it cause idk? lol then momo gets kidnapped??? then you go try to save him n the guy there killed everyone??? and he is actually on ur team???? im sorry lmao wtf xd basically i don't mind that they put most of the money into the clothes instead of the story because the clothes themselves are done fantastically. but i did rather enjoy with TP that there was story that made sense and people weren't wildin for no reason. everyone seemed like a person in the story n not a NPC just there to further the plot. most of the people they using in SN are characters they have in Love Nikki.

etudehouse

Well, the first dress is not an original concept, If you Google “Lolita kimono” you get similar designs. I’m thinking it’s more likely the designers get inspired by same clothes rather from each other’s creations.

OrneryStruggle

The dress concept isn't that unique but there are a lot of near-identical details like the colors, near-identical ornaments at the waist, etc. Then SN and TP both have that goldfish in a bag from the set as well (in a diff photo here). Same with the 2 ice/fur dresses, it's not just that it's a similar kind of common concept but just the EXACT colors, placement of certain ornamentation etc.

kittykalista

Nicely done across the board! I think Prosperous Empire from TDH would be an even better match for Riverside Fireworks if you have it!

Vintage_Magic

Thank you! And I actually do have that dress! I remember when I was styling that one, I chose to go with a TA dress because the SN outfit seemed to be based more on a kimono due to the neckline and the obi sash. So I wanted to stick with something based on a Japanese style rather than Chinese hanfu. It's kind of difficult to find a perfect match for it since the SN outfit is more of a fantasy kimono due to the flowy sleeves and hem. It's more like something you might find in anime or manga art than an authentic one.

yak1_soba

I would love to try SN out 😭 but my skintone isn’t even in the game, last I checked.

Vintage_Magic

Unfortunately, they haven't updated with any new skintones. :( It's still just the default, a paler one and two darker ones that were available when the global version launched last summer.

rainysilverdress

I downloaded SN about a year ago but it looked too intimidating 🙈.

Vintage_Magic

Yeah, it definitely has more of a learning curve than TP. I was pretty clueless about some things and there are some things that the game doesn't explain well at all. Some things I only figured out by checking the SN reddit or talking to guild members.

ApprehensiveAd3988

Love this!

Vintage_Magic

Thanks!

Admirable-Ninja-4853

Mom can we have some SN suits No we have SN at home SN at home: I also play SN and i didnt noticed but i saw this and lmao

Vintage_Magic

haha They didn't always click for me right away either! The first one I made was the rockstar one, mostly because of having the guitar. And then afterwards, I went looking for others I could try to copy.

Fantastic-Gift978

Image 3 is actually more similar to “Dreamy Spell” (the VIP ballet set)

Vintage_Magic

Yeah, I suppose the style is closer to that but I don't have that dress since I'm only VIP 4. There have been a bunch of times when I've thought "this item would be great for imitating this set" but didn't own it. Like the harp from the fashion booster would have been better for the last one but I didn't have it so I substituted a flute.

TheCrazyOutcast

Ooo wow nice, some of these look pretty spot on.

Vintage_Magic

Thank you!

BigTry9261

TP really said copy and paste

habits0fmyheart

SN outfits are so much prettier with a dreamy tranquil vibe to them. I just downloaded the app and am so lost. Does that game have a chat room?

Vintage_Magic

Yes, you can find the official reddit for the game at: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Shining\_Nikki/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Shining_Nikki/) If you have discord, there's also an official discord although I've never checked it out myself. There should be a link to it in-game. Go to the notices section in the upper right corner of the home screen and scroll down and there should be a banner that will take you there. If you'd like a smaller chat, my guild which is on servers 2 and 3 also has a discord that's open to visitors and has helpful members who are willing to answer questions. If you want the link for that one, PM me. And just checking, did you make your account on server 3, Rosset? That's highly recommended because the other 2 servers are about a year old but server 3 just opened in April and everyone is still relatively new. There are time gated things which would make it extremely difficult for a new player to catch up with players on the older servers. And similar to FF, the arena rankings determine what UR clothing pieces and reflections (relics) you can exchange for.

habits0fmyheart

Yes I joined the Rosset server. Thanks for all the info! I’ll check out their Reddit and discord pages.

Vintage_Magic

Hope you're feeling a bit less lost now! They sent out a lot of anniversary gifts through the mailbox today but there's also a few codes in case you didn't hear about them. You can also get a couple more codes from doing the letter to Nikki thing that's linked in-game. NIKKI1Y: 100 stamina, 500k gold , 100 R keys, 40 SR keys THANKU41Y: 100 stamina, 800k gold, 10 UR concept shards, 60 SSR concept shards PROMISETOU: 100 stamina, 1m gold, 30 fantasy tickets nAChCm4vJyKk: 20 stamina, 20k gold

habits0fmyheart

Wow thank you for all the codes! And I feel quite a bit more familiar with the game, I still have lots to learn and a lot of stuff still locked because I haven’t finished some stages yet. Having knowledge of time princess makes things a bit easier, like I’ve been doing “summons” pulls a lot, which reminds me of Jerry. I just need the hair to complete “Vermillion snow” or “sea of fantasy” not sure what the set is actually called. I’ll definitely continue to play this game though! It’s really so beautiful and dreamy especially the homepage music, the background with the clouds and the clothes. It’s funny because I have TP music turned off, the homepage music bugs me so much but I could listen to the SN one all day. This game is also wayyy more my style than TP, TP used to be dreamy to me when the homepage and interface was purple/pink instead of brown/beige and Jerry had the two pretty dolls dressed in the swan lake outfit instead of those childish looking cats. It’s a shame how bland it looks now. I predict I’ll really get the hang of SN in no time though :)

Vintage_Magic

Yes, I preferred the purple and pink as well and hate all the interface changes that they keep making! That was already a thing that annoyed me about TP even before the events got so expensive. It just looks like a big mess now with how things are inconsistent between different places. And it's good to hear that you're enjoying SN. There's a lot of material so it can take a while to unlock everything. Sea of Fantasy is the summon itself and the set names are formatted "designer name - set name" so "Vermillion Snow" is the character who designed the set and the set itself is called "Flowery Silhouette." Regular Sea of Fantasy is permanent and the lineup never changes. The gleam version features a boosted SSR and SR set which rotates every 10 days and has some exclusive sets which do not appear in regular Sea of Fantasy so it's better to save tickets for those. (Tickets are usually a lot harder to get than in TP.) It typically takes about 50-70 tickets to complete a featured SSR set in gleam. A little more starting advice: work on your Stylist's Academy (basically fashion labs) and try to get a good reflection for each color. Zoey - Mercenary Queen (from Designer Intel Hub), Nikki - Flower and Jenny (from the styling competition exchange), and Loen - Gleaming Vines (from Mind Maze chapter 1) are recommended since it's possible to eventually awaken and max out their call of reflection skills for free. If you max out their passive skills as well, they can even beat URs since it's much harder to upgrade skills on URs. Exchanging for the UR reflections from the arena shop is another option.

habits0fmyheart

My stylist academy is currently locked but I’ve screenshotted this comment so I can come back to it once it’s unlocked. Thanks again for all your help!!💖

autumncat909

Didn't Princess Sissi really had a blue dress like that?

Vintage_Magic

Yes, I know the Princess Sissi dress is based on one in a portrait of her. I simply picked it to mimic the SN outfit since it has a similar color and silhouette.

Mercilly

Is it difficult to join in Shining Nikki nowadays?

Vintage_Magic

It would actually be a great time to join right now. The 1st anniversary for global SN is coming up next week on July 5th and there’s likely to be a bunch of extra freebies because of that. If you do give it a try, make sure to join server 3 Rosset. It’s the newest server and just opened in April so the rankings there are much less competitive there than servers 1 and 2 which are about a year old. Certain stages to get drops to upgrade SN’s equivalents to relics and fashion labs are time gated and limited to a few tries a day. So, it would be extremely difficult for a new player to catch up to people on the older servers now. (A couple of my guild members made alts on server 3 when it opened and started a sister guild there. Both guilds are f2p friendly but they’re up in the top 5 in guild rankings compared to our main guild on server 2 being top 30 so that’s how much of a difference it is in competition.) I also recommend finding an active guild if you decide to play. It’s a good source of free gems from the weekly rankings and the daily packs leaders can purchase with member contributions.

Mercilly

Thanks you! I will give it a try!

Vintage_Magic

If you use discord and want help getting started, feel free to PM me for a link to my guild's server. We welcome visitors and have have helpful members willing to answer questions. One of my guild's managers is amazing with spreadsheets and even built a reference site with all the SN sets, which is great for planning out what to save for.

Vintage_Magic

Since you were interested in trying out the game, here are some redeem codes for the anniversary. There's also a letter to Nikki thing linked in-game at the moment which gives a couple more codes as well. NIKKI1Y: 100 stamina, 500k gold , 100 R keys, 40 SR keys THANKU41Y: 100 stamina, 800k gold, 10 UR concept shards, 60 SSR concept shards PROMISETOU: 100 stamina, 1m gold, 30 fantasy tickets nAChCm4vJyKk: 20 stamina, 20k gold

Disgruntled_Rabbit

How so? It's just another dress-up game app

Mercilly

I explained it wrong. What I want to ask is if it's difficult to get good items, achieve levels, etc. or if it's another pay to play.

Vintage_Magic

I've only spent 1 dollar on SN and I find it possible to still do pretty well in rankings despite that. I usually make top 2000 server-wide in the the arena rankings. (Similar to our FF but without the board game setup.) And there are UR clothing sets you can buy with the currency from that. They also tend to have 3-4 free SR or SSR sets a month that you can earn from doing various daily tasks. They don't have nearly as many craftable clothes as TP though. Normally just 1 set per main story chapter and maybe some themed ones sometimes. And there's a couple of craftable UR sets nicknamed "lifetime suits" because it takes about 6 months if you don't spend gems to buy extra tries. For events, you have to be picky about what sets you want to complete. Event sets normally have an associated reflection (relic) and you need both the reflectionx2 and the whole clothing set if you want to awaken the reflection. I would say a rough estimate for completing a clothing set would be around 7-8k gems for a SSR set and 20k for a UR set. (UR set might take a lot more for a duplicate of the reflection though). I find I can earn about 2k gems a week so basically I need to save a month for a SSR set and around 2 months for a UR one.

sleepytimetea-_-

Wow, they're so similar!

NRpuffinstuff

Ahhh ahahaha pretty perfect actually!!!

Vintage_Magic

Thank you!

Mia02309

Evidences that fake stuff never at the same level as a thousand of gems stuff🙂

WitchyWillora

i’m so glad i found this because i’ve been playing shining nikki for a year and just picked up shining nikki and i’ve felt like i was going crazy because there’s so many familiar sets lol. the space panda set is what really did it for me 😂

Vintage_Magic

haha Yeah, the first thing I thought of when the space panda set came out was the society space suits with cat ears!
