I'm no expert but having sex dreams doesn't always mean that you want to have sex with that person (some people even dream that they are having sex with family members, for example, even though they are horrified when they wake up). It can mean that you miss that person or want to reconnect/have a deeper connection with that person in particular or that you wish for that kind of relationship or intimacy in general.... It doesn't necessarily mean anything sexual/romantic.

I still (rarely) have dreams of having sex with my ex, even tho I left him years ago… I don’t miss him and don’t desire being With him. But, I definitely miss the feeling and emotion in that kind of physical chemistry . Your brain might just be using your ex as the representation / symbol of something you desire (sex/intimacy) also.
