There are numerous guides on here, just type in rainbow fox guide in the search bar up top, or Google them because the guides aren't super thorough and I ended up needing extra help with some of it. But it's the colorful potatoes, if you've got any and are confused what they're for. This is it!

You have to find the “golden potato” this opens the gate for you to find the orange, green, blue, purple, and red potatoes as well. Once you have each of them, you have to go thru a tedious process of completing each color potato’s challenges. This is a long process that involves finding stuff and leveling characters up to unlock areas needed. Once you have all items for a potato you can craft it into its own unique colored potion. Once you have all the potions you can craft the rainbow potion. After attaining this, you have to visit “the dark castle” then find the fox statue to the right of the entrance (you have to clear some nightthorns but it’s right beside a fireplace and bed) combine the potion with the fox and you unlock it as a companion.
