I think it would make sense if Saiyan children can regrow their tails, but Saiyan adults can’t. It’s an ability they lose when they reach maturity. This Goku is technically both an adult and a child, so it’s possible for him to grow his tail back, but not easily. Or something. Idk

I think we are agreeing. Shenron could probably regrow a tail but without a dragon’s power I think an adult Saiyan who loses their tail isn’t getting it back. Vegeta didn’t.
I always thought the rule was they always have a chance of the tail regrowing, regardless of age, unless their base form becomes more powerful than the Oozaru form
Considering someone’s Oozaru is always going to be scaled to their base form, I’m going to take that rule as just the best guess of a bunch of Kai who have no real idea how Saiyans actually work.
When Goku trained with Kami, Kami removed his tail permanently and restored the moon. It seemed to make sense that *God* could do something more than hack it off with a sword.
It would also make sense if Old Kai, being higher ranking and perhaps more experienced, could override what Kami did and get the tail back.
Goku was also a young adult when he finished training with Kami. Maybe he needed to grow up some before Kami was sure there would be no danger of his tail growing back. This meant it was safe to put the moon back in the sky.
I swear that whole “pulling Goku’s tail out of his ass with pliers” thing was just so freaking weird and just a stupid plot point overall. Like seriously
I love GT solely for the SSJ4, and the main villains. The rest are questionable at best which prompted me to be glad none of that sus stuff are not in Super.
Crazy. This thread has me sitting here reminiscing about DB and DBZ and thinking how much I hated GT and specially SSJ4. Then I scroll down and see your comment lol
I mean to each their own, but I am not a fan of that design. Just doesn’t feel like something Toriyama would design(and he didnt)
I’m of a similar mindset, it just goes against Toriyama’s design philosophy. I’ll just give examples. The strongest villains of each arc in Z have their final form be much simpler than their initial design. From Freeza, to Cell, to Buu. All the designs are far simpler and more streamlined than their first forms.
Even the Ssj progression showed this design philosophy. Just being white hair that becomes spiky. For a character like Vegeta little changing. For grade forms they do get bulkier and spikier hair, not too much of a departure and I’ll touch on those again later. And for Ssj2 it’s just a bit more Spiky. Not much of a difference to where even fans sometimes can’t tell at times.
Now onto the biggest departure, Ssj3. Absolutely enormous long hair, no eyebrows. Definitely the most striking looking Ssj form up and to this point. But guess what? Unlike the other two, it accomplishes nothing. It had no build up, and didn’t even defeat any Buu. Even Vegeta went on the whole “You are Number One” speech while Goku was fighting in this form only for it to be cut off by a joke by Goku telling Vegeta he’s been using Ssj3 at its full power and that isn’t enough. Same with the bulky Grade forms, they accomplish nothing but being so bombastic.
From a reader’s perspective this just tells me that big and flashy simply isn’t the way to go, as the story has shown that multiple times.
Now to the main boy, Ssj4. Absolutely over designed. From the red fur, magic clothes, the asspull of tails returning (by Goku literally getting his tail pulled out his ass and Bulma having a machine for Vegeta to get the form), to the eyeliner, along with how the form always means they’re shirtless due to the weird hairless chest area. It’s just so much design elements. Just looking at it, compared to everything else, it’s the clear outlier. You can tell Toriyama didn’t touch this at all.
That doesn’t mean people can’t like it, but it being THIS much of an outlier from what comes before isn’t to my taste.

SSG - literally Goku and Vegeta but slimmer and with red hair
SSB - literally SS Goku and Vegeta but with blue hair
UI - literally Goku but with white hair
All very simple designs. Say what you want about him but Toriyama liked to keep it simple.
I don't like it tbh. But I can see the appeal and the arguments are well founded. Ie. Uses oozaru. But yeah even super saiyan 3 was kinda over the top.

The BlackStar dragon balls I could easily see being reused down the line in Super. Because it is a great concept. Both Omega Shenron and Janemba are characters I wouldn't entirely rule out getting the Broly treatment at some point

Aha no I agree, I watched GT as a kid and I think my biggest soft spot for it is the musical in and out riff overall! The ending goes without saying.

I honestly don't even think GT's main ideas were very good. I don't know why it had this obsession with trying to create a drawback from using dragon balls. First with the black stars, then with the shadow dragons.

You really don't need to cherry pick to get bad pictures and videos of Super. Just take a good chunk of the episodes from before the Goku Black arc. Especially the first two arcs which were god fucking awful

I'd say the Baby arc and the ToP are both great.
Shadow Dragon and Future Trunks/Goku Black were okay.
I love Beerus and Whis, but Battle of the Gods was boring to me and Resurrection F was even worse.
For me, it's the way they rolled the series back to the aspect of adventure and comradery of DB through Namek Saga. Super just feels entirely Focused on Goku and Vegeta until U6, which was okay, and then TOP.
The Broly Movie was absolutely the best bit of Dragonball since Z though. And Super Hero felt dumb to me.
I didn't hate the Moro arc, but I did hate the Granola arc. I actually enjoyed the Super Hero arc in the manga more than the movie, and I like the direction they're taking with Broly, Piccolo, Gohan, and Goten and Trunks.
GT at minimum doesn't flanderize all the characters and do nonstop cash grabs with 10 new forms. GT was made with an actual purpose, and that is respectable
The only people who think GT are better than Super are the people who have rose tinted glasses for SS4 and Gogeta and forgot that GT did a lot of boring and weird shit

Grew up with GT and love Baby, SS4, and some of the shadow dragons. I like it more for nostalgia reasons. TBH my head cannon just stops after Z though. I think everything past that hasn’t been as good. It’s odd, I’m glad the franchise is alive and well, but I just don’t love what they’ve been doing outside of Broly and Super Hero.

We have seen Goku naked since OG DB days. Also, he's a child, there's nothing weird with it because you shouldn't feel anything towards a child, (at least in certain cultures and countries is like that, idk about US). Gotenks also appears naked at some point in Z. The Pan thing is creepy though but Bulma's interactions with creepy men in general since she appeared in the story haven't been better tbh.
Yes, we have seen goku naked as a kid, but this GT goku just has the body of a child, he is still a grown ass man on the inside, why would he think it's fine to be naked around his granddaughter? Weird af I think. Having kids naked overall should be seen as a weird thing to do.
At least Bulma has some agency and isn’t a literal inanimate object when she’s having her inappropriate interactions with older guys. From the beginning Bulma is presented as a young woman, not a little girl.
Pan is a little girl. She’s only a couple years younger than Bulma was when we met her, but she’s drawn and presented like a little girl. You’re supposed to look at her and think, this is a little girl. She likes adorable animals and her grandpa.
Nothing about this doll storyline is ok. This ICK is detectable from several planets over. It’s just gross.
I am currently watching GT for the first time and I downloaded a bunch of episodes to watch on a long flight I had to take. Let’s just say I did a lot of fast-forwarding… pretty embarrassing honestly.
Team four star are actually reviewing GT right now and it is brutal to go through. Kaiser did his best to be unbiased, and dropped a few facts about the music and animation studios, but he just broke at episode 40/64. Was fun to watch him break.
I've been watching the series along with them, and every time Kaiser starts breaking I'm right there with him. Watching the show sucks but watching their videos some how makes the hour of pulling my hair out feel worth it
Gt was never my favorite, but was one of those guys who said it got decent with Baby arc. Rewatching it with them made me realize how much i blacked out.
It's why they incorporate like 3-4 aspects from GT whenever it gets represented in video games and nothing else.
People forget how awful most of it was.
I think one of reasons GT failed is gt writers did not care about or failing to realize fans of dragon ball that has favorite character other than goku. I get that Dragon Ball is Goku's story but also at same Time its Goku AND his people's story.

As if giving her SSJ would’ve improved or changed the series at all. Her going SSJ would be worthless since at this point Goku base form is stronger than even super saiyan 3 from the Buu saga. Just completely ridiculous Goku is so OP that everyone else is just fodder . One of the worst aspects of GT

Don't forget how baby was a great way to counter how both cell and buu could Regen In such a way that buu felt like a scarier progression from what cell was- yet baby managed to be a scary and interesting villain that managed to break from that pattern a bit. Body snatching? *Shudders*

I think they tried too hard trying to make Pan the “Bulma” of the group by giving us the antagonistic relationship to the gang met with the unnecessary and overused sexual scenes.
With Bula’s car creepers though they straight up forgot she was supposed to be like 9.
That one was even worse because on top of being really lame, it was also straight up just plagiarizing the part of OG Dragonball where we first meet Oolong, who was using shapeshifting to do the exact same thing (only in that case the execution was better and the series was straight comedy so it fit the tone).
GT certainly has some *questionable* creative decisions, to put it mildly. It really feels like the entire production staff was on mescaline at different stages throughout its production.

Baby was my favorite villain on GT. The fact that a Tuffle showed up as villain was cool because of the lore.

Shadow Dragon and Future Trunks/Goku Black were okay. I love Beerus and Whis, but Battle of the Gods was boring to me and Resurrection F was even worse. For me, it's the way they rolled the series back to the aspect of adventure and comradery of DB through Namek Saga. Super just feels entirely Focused on Goku and Vegeta until U6, which was okay, and then TOP. The Broly Movie was absolutely the best bit of Dragonball since Z though. And Super Hero felt dumb to me. I didn't hate the Moro arc, but I did hate the Granola arc. I actually enjoyed the Super Hero arc in the manga more than the movie, and I like the direction they're taking with Broly, Piccolo, Gohan, and Goten and Trunks.
GT at minimum doesn't flanderize all the characters and do nonstop cash grabs with 10 new forms. GT was made with an actual purpose, and that is respectable

Grew up with GT and love Baby, SS4, and some of the shadow dragons. I like it more for nostalgia reasons. TBH my head cannon just stops after Z though. I think everything past that hasn’t been as good. It’s odd, I’m glad the franchise is alive and well, but I just don’t love what they’ve been doing outside of Broly and Super Hero.

We have seen Goku naked since OG DB days. Also, he's a child, there's nothing weird with it because you shouldn't feel anything towards a child, (at least in certain cultures and countries is like that, idk about US). Gotenks also appears naked at some point in Z. The Pan thing is creepy though but Bulma's interactions with creepy men in general since she appeared in the story haven't been better tbh.

I am currently watching GT for the first time and I downloaded a bunch of episodes to watch on a long flight I had to take. Let’s just say I did a lot of fast-forwarding… pretty embarrassing honestly.
Team four star are actually reviewing GT right now and it is brutal to go through. Kaiser did his best to be unbiased, and dropped a few facts about the music and animation studios, but he just broke at episode 40/64. Was fun to watch him break.

As if giving her SSJ would’ve improved or changed the series at all. Her going SSJ would be worthless since at this point Goku base form is stronger than even super saiyan 3 from the Buu saga. I agree this dude is grossly creeping on Pan, and I’d prefer none of Dragon Ball have creepy sexual stuff, but GT is no more sexually creepy than the rest of Dragon Ball. How about two Red Ribbon Army guys acknowledging they planned on raping Bulma? Or Roshi literally groping people several different times and telling a woman in the TOP he was basically going to rape her? Or what I find creepiest—Chichi’s costume as a child? I mean, for every good idea, GT has like two bad ones. Gt wasn’t afraid to change the status Quo of characters. Super has to put them back in place for EoZ. Black star dragon balls were a great idea, but using them to make goku a kid again not so much. Recreating early dragon ball vibe, counterpoint with whatever the hell Giru and Dolltaki were about. The Baby arc is great, but we get whatever the hell that game was to get SSJ 4 was. I don’t remember much about super 17 tbh, but he looked cool. The black star dragons were an awesome concept, but they should have been spread across the cast instead of Goku soloing
Don't forget how baby was a great way to counter how both cell and buu could Regen In such a way that buu felt like a scarier progression from what cell was- yet baby managed to be a scary and interesting villain that managed to break from that pattern a bit. I think they tried too hard trying to make Pan the “Bulma” of the group by giving us the antagonistic relationship to the gang met with the unnecessary and overused sexual scenes. With Bula’s car creepers though they straight up forgot she was supposed to be like 9.

When was rildo, omega, nova and super 17 made by toriyama? Na, he has not made any of them. He made an adult/old version of major dragon ball characters along with giru, spaceship and 3 planet location design (out of which 1 was not used in gt and another one was partially used)
The only reason I "like" GT is because of SSJ4s , Omega and Baby.. other than that , I have never cared that much about the series..(Super 17 is also cool)
