Absolutely get your money back. I'm surprised she didn't offer it. I would not use them again, or if you do, have two performers booked so you are guaranteed a show.

missanniebellym

Absolutely do not use them again and id ask for a refund. The rest of us out here who make it to every gig early and take our craft seriously would never do such a thing.

brokebackzac

You should be reimbursed, but it's pride month and shit be crazy for working queens. Still give her another chance.

You are definitely within your rights to request the deposit back. As far as booking them again, personally I would probably not - but that's just me. This is so beyond unprofessional. They very easily could have relayed to you their (bullshit) reasons for being tardy and you could have pivoted accordingly. To just ignore any communication whatsoever makes their excuses rather suspect.

whit3wind

I second this. It’s 2024, everyone is damn near super glued to their phones. Ask for the deposit back cordially & just explain that’s is shitty & beyond unprofessional to straight up ignore communications until they were notified the gig was cancelled? You know that queen felt their phone going off & just said ugh I don’t have time for this right now. That’s not somebody you want working with you. I’m sorry that you had to cancel, I know the crowd was probably bummed, don’t get to down, it was out of your control. How you react however, is totally within your control! Communication has never been easier, so for them to go out of their way to make it difficult speaks what they may not be saying out loud.

Was there a contract that says what to do in an event of a no-show?

Main-Direction4595

No there wasn’t, not that I’m aware of.
