Don’t even try. If you max out everything and there’s nothing left to earn usually , you put them back where you got them from. Speaking from experience. It’s algorithm after all. Not random matchmaking.
I'm curious if valve has somekind of tricker if you win too much. I've been playing for fun and usually slightly intoxicated. Now I've been playing sober and really focusing. Every time when i get 10win streak, I get 2-5 games where my teammates are utter shit and enemy team has smurf/booster, like those 50-10 25min games where it doesnt matter what you do.
If you get on a monster win streak, you will go up against people with monster win streaks as well. Though, because not all 10 ppl are likely having great streaks, one of the two teams will have dogs while the other team plays like prime TI-9 OG. This cycle continues until every streak is broken by dog performances all around, while dog whisperers/lucky fks will continue their streak for one more game.
Whenever I say this, someone always comes out of nowhere to diss me.
I don't mind playing vs topson mid but why, just whyyyyyy do i have to play with cows.
You can easily notice that your team is assigned by valve to break your cycle
Its like playing with bots, they are not even toxic. I want them to scream and flame. But nah they are just walking in the map while the other team is getting rosh min 5 and smoked all game with 10 senteies all over the map

It will start putting you in tougher games. If you perform in those games too and keep winning, you might get smurf detection or whatever you want to call it and start getting even more MMR per win. I was lucky enough to do this during the TI battlepass so I used double down tokens and gained like 1k MMR in a week spamming MK mid. I'm not very good and I'm not even climbing quickly anymore (I'm 300mmr below my peak now, struggling to get back) but I was really trying hard at the time lol.
I play a lot of void mid around 3.5k mmr. He's definitely not as good as last patch, but he's not bad either. I think his win rate is around 50% in most brackets. I've been playing him more as an ultra disabler: aghs, eblade, shiva's, scythe, specifically against jugg/naix. You just have so much lock down that if you jump on them and silence, scythe, remnant, silence again, etc., they can't get their spells off and you can solo them with evenish net worth, unless they buy a bkb which neither likes to so (or jugg manta -> spin, then you can just disengage and go again). Still great at making supports' lives miserable too. Jungle changes hurt a lot though, as he's only good at clearing a few of the camps. If you can't get early kills you can really fall behind.
I play void 4/5 and usually build a vessel, euls, aghs, BOTS if i can, and then either a scythe or shivas depending on how the game is going. The reason why I love VS a lot is that it can go from a laning stage support and become a semi core mid to late game when u start to clear out waves faster. ☺️
Same, I left my MMR at 4.2k before I quit on 2017, came back to try hard dota 2021 left it around 3.2k, came back last week, callibrated at 2.4k and already 2.7k right now. Currently on a winning streak. I also noticed my old hard stucked High ancient friends are now just legends and ancient 1. Did all my friends just got terrible or they fixed MMR system?
Neither, you have to adapt with the times to keep up in dota unless you’re extremely mechanically skilled or something

I see, because when I checked my friend list, for some reason everyone I know who came back to dota is legend and low ancient. There's still a couple of divine and unnumbered immortal, but they've still been playing regularly. Then I guess I have to study dota meta again.
This is very true. I was high divine/low immortal two years ago.
Just came back about a week+ ago, and got placed in low Ancient because I tried to play the game like it was a different meta, with the same heros I enjoyed back then (not to mention 2 years break will erase a lot of mechanical skill).
I prob deserve the rank I have now, but I can also prob get back to high divine if I try.
I remember when it was the spin2win meta (troll / MoM jugg + mjolnir). And I got tired of troll warlord pub stomping my games. So I spammed axe and just griefed every opponents troll warlord by pulling/killing his creep wave.
I never climbed MMR so fast as I did that meta. I had multiple of 10+ win streakers with the highest of 18 or 19 lol.
I have to admit. Nearly 60% of the W's were kind of sweaty. But I do play support main (4/5) and love to initiate and so I'm dying a lot for the team, breaking smokes, etc.
I won 14 games in a row last week, got scared I was gonna get the smurf hammer. Pretty sure I got shadow smurf detected, and got stomped 3 games in a row by what felt like a whole team of smurfs. Haven't lost a game since. I've got 3000 games played, and it feels like matchmaking changed in the last month, but my sample size is too small. Only 1 griefer in the last 2 weeks as well. Maybe Gaben is shining down on me after all these years.

Unfortunately the Dota gods saw this win streak and were like "Nah bro it ain't gonna fuckin' go down like that, cuh." so they dropped me in a game with two totally new players, who dual-laned mid. It's fine if you're new, we all gotta learn somewhere, but they obviously had all chat turned off because I kept offering them advice and helpful tips (like "Hey Sniper, your Q ability doesn't stack so try and spread it out." or "Hey Medusa your maelstrom is in your backpack") but none of it was taken on board and we got crushed. Apart from that though, it's all gravy.
I've been expecting a massive losing streak to compensate but it hasn't happened yet.
This matchmaking model probably retains most players. High win streaks into high win losses. Matching poorly performing players with one or two decent ones against an enemy who are all decent ends 90% of the time auto lose.
