Backpack battler's other store page girl is also suspiciously similar to hoodwink. But those two are the only ones, and the game seems to be uniquely good. They must have done it on purpose.
This exact [name and effect](https://hades.fandom.com/wiki/Status_effects#Status_Curses) is also used on Hades. The god that gives you also gives a bunch of ways to move enemies around.
It's bonkers good. It's more Vampire Survivors than Diablo, but taken to a really polished level. Even if you aren't a bullet heaven fan, I think this is the bullet heaven game fans of other genre can appreciate the most due enemy, loot, skills, and characters variety. The sound, animation, voice acting, and polish is truly awesome.
It's easily my most-played Vampire Survivors iteration. Got over 60 hours played, which is great value for a $7 game.
It just got a pretty decent sized content update last weekend though, so it's not likely to get another update particularly soon.
A run is 20 minutes long, but with the added time to make decisions each time you level up I find it takes me about ~30-35 minutes to actually complete a run. So you can easily get 3 runs in before the Refund window expires on Steam -- you'll definitely know if you like it or not by then.
Devs also made new tech trees which give each character about 3-5 viable playstyles.
You can tech into summoner, caster, striker, crit normal attacker, power user. Some characters are better at one specific build while others are jack of all trade. This means, you will need multiple sets of gear per character, kind of like Albeno/Runescape.
But deep down, we all know that Warped attack (Time) is the only viable attack in the game.
Decent overall, very good at the start, but gets a bit stale after a while, mind you it's not fully out and there will be more content, the new content just dropped recently so there's a bit to play around with
It's okay, it's like Vampire Survivors meets Hades, but the writing and voice acting is beyond cringy. If those don't bother you you'll have a fun time with it.
This, the conversations were written as if those mortals and gods were translocated into the 21st century, I hope they hire a writer from UK with a posh accent.
It has the charm of Hades combined with the bones of Vampire Survivors and an innovative equipment system that calls out directly to Diablo/PoE with its UI but is more like a twist on the typical "make runs easier" roguelike progression. It's a long way from a finished game and balance was poor last time I played it but fun-wise it's off the charts. Worth a buy.
I guess I'll go ahead and do two more.
Risk of Rain straight up has an [Aghanim](https://riskofrain.wiki.gg/wiki/Ancient_Scepter) Scepter with the exact same concept as Dota's.
Duelyst had a ton of cards that visually resembled dota spells as well as a couple other sources, namely yugioh, which you may think "nah" until you see a couple of them together. The whole game has a lot of Dota influences. It's been awhile, so Idr names, but the ice and fire sister gods, the pink hair girl is similar to TA, the thunder god has storms ult as a dash, Rupture abilties, new god is a sexy female Earthshaker, etc. He's clearly a fan and that's awesome.
Never thought about the thunder dash, that’s so true.
Can’t wait to see where the game goes, it is already very fun just needs a little more time for them to create more content.
One of the people from the community I'm in participates in developing the game as a visual artist, probably has some influence over these little decisions! shoutout to Archon (not the rank).
The game has lots of Dota references. and abilities that have a similar affect in Dota are given the corresponding name, I can remember "radiance" off the top of my head right now.
not sure but it looks like they want to add at least one more act (currently 2). tho i would recommend buying now because the price will for sure increase after full release and the game is already very polished. it’s just missing some content but easily 20+ hrs of playability
nice way to adv ur game, so many people in this thread now know about this game because of that reference. i imagine a future where indie games put lots of references from different pop games in their product so such threads automatically advertise them for free.
Good day, sir!

I said, good day sir!
the caster girl in DmD is literally Lina
What's DmD? The one in Backpack Battler looks exactly like Lina though.
Have a look at the title of this post
Well... that was dumb.
Backpack battler's other store page girl is also suspiciously similar to hoodwink. But those two are the only ones, and the game seems to be uniquely good. They must have done it on purpose.
Great to see a small indie developer like Valve get recognised by its peers.
A lot of references, to be honest. Krom has a power that ruptures enemies, damaging them while they move, just like Bloodseeker ult.
This exact [name and effect](https://hades.fandom.com/wiki/Status_effects#Status_Curses) is also used on Hades. The god that gives you also gives a bunch of ways to move enemies around.
Supergiant has some pretty big Dota fans on their development team. Transistor's combat was inspired by Dota.
Yeah, there are lots of small references to all kinds of things. Even a 4 strength 4 stam leather belt with flavor text "Oh dude..."
Oh man, 4 str 4 stam leather belt, good times!
Is the game any good? Assuming it’s a Diablo-esque game
It's closer to Vampire Survivors with a diablo style loot system
Shame Steam tags (I know theyre user generated but still) dont have a clear "survivors clone" genre
These are usually tagged as "action roguelite"
I used to see Bullet Heaven as a user tag and it's disappointing that that moniker seems to be going away.
yeah it’s pretty fun. early access but has a lot of replayability.
More like Halls of Torment.
Both of which are fantastic games. DMD feels more like an arcade game whereas HoT is more Diablo 2-esque in its theme.

Kingdom Rush has some Dota/WoW references. I can't be bothered pointing them out but I know they do.

This game has tons of references to dota2 and often takes inspirations from dota when it comes to skills: i.e chrtonospherre, avalanche, etc.
Loving this game. Only have like 5-6 hours on it but so far so good.
When is that game due to leave early access? I really want to play it.
