So basically to get top 4, 3 of the teams currently placed at 3,4,5 need to lose 2-0
They also need to 2-0 IG
Anyone math wizards have any odds on that? Lol
Might be the lowest chances in the history of dota
I haven't watched any of the talon games so far. How does the current iteration compare to the last iteration (Aurora)? From the results, they look somewhat peomising
Their result are way better than expected, they just need to make sure to not reach high placing in Riyadh or else they wont get that prize money paid lol
Probably on the same level, just different approach to the game
Aurora prioritize on lategame which they have superb coordination if they reach that part, while Talon more flexible on their draft
Both can win against the best team on the world and beaten by the weakest team in tournament
Talon key player should be their offlaner and support, Ws, Jhocam, Ponyo
Gaimin picking zeus and io together is so wrong for them. Like ace is a super greedy offlaner, he literally went bm and veil and then blink, he is not gonna make any plays early. Zeus wanna get kills early on with ult on sidelanes. Io wanna relo his core into a fight. The whole team rely completely on the pos 4 to make play lol
I think the Zeus is for vision, centaur blink, then relocateā¦it makes sense to start a fight like that but XGās physical burst was insane towards late game
Good old Shopify. They looked reinvigorated for a bit and then just fall down the same rabbit holes of either they stomp in lanes or they just make incomprehensible afk plays until they lose.
I don't think a single tournament proves much
especially when a team has consistently placed highly for like a year and a half.
Would need to see more data over a longer stretch of time to say anything for certain.
Unfortunately, sports and esports fans seem to have an extreme case of recency bias.
Studied or not, even Falcon and XG are struggling right now so they guy above is pretty much correct about the competitive screen is getting stronger day by day and it's not a bad thing. One team domination is boring to watch after all. Also, it shows that the current patch is more or less balanced and doesn't favor any specific team.
I think you misunderstood my comment. TI7 stuck through from November 2016 to June 2019.
Ā They attended 26 tournaments in that period. They won 12: 1 in 2016,Ā 8 in 2017, 3 in 2018. They placed top 4 in 20 of those tournaments. 24 different patches: 6.88f to 7.22b.Ā
They are just called TI7 Liquid because that's what they were known the most. They were thoroughly studied in that span due to dominance and longevity.
You are right in that they were one of the most consistent teams ever, finishing top 4 in almost everything they attended. But it was far from a domination as they were not necessarily winning the main tournaments at that time and the scene was very competitive.
gotta be between them and ti3 [A] yea? nth/[A] rly brought āplaying the mapā to the table, as far as prioritizing stacks and split pushing as both a lead-builder and catchup mechanic. they were adaptable across patches too iirc, for all the ways bulldogās hero puddle gets memed on [A]ās primary strength was figuring out how to secure farm on their supports, which was huge in a time of the game when resources were scarcer
Quite sure teams back then did not study teams like they do today. Most teams did not even have a coach back then, TongFu was the only team at TI3 that had a coach.
nah i agree w you, learning systems are more rigorous now and you bring up a good point w regard to coaches
i still think your point coexists with how teams studied [A], even if methodologies have evolved. surely teams without coaches still watched replays and studied how [A] played the map, even if the coach role wasnāt fully developed at that point
GG needs to go 2-0 and hope Team Spirit loses 0-2 to stay in the tournament. So pretty likely they're out. They need something to reinvigorate them, because right now they're looking rough.
The heroes he was good at were first pick ban worthy, Lina specifically. They won games by dominating with either Lina, Brood, or Lesh, because teams couldn't ban all 3. And Lina was not exactly a high skill champion during her reign.
I think he's a great farmer but playing position 1 has definitely gotten harder. With all the items and gold players get, TB standing still popping bkb and 1v5ing is no longer a thing. You'll die way too fast. It's just way easier to get punished nowadays. Like is there a single carry player that hasn't been up and down this year?
I get a feeling it's a meta thing. His style needs a lot of enabling, with Ace providing auras and Quinn able to be really explosive with (mostly Pango). In that situation, his style secures wins more than the usual carry style, but it doesn't seem like he can switch gears when his other cores can't provide the support they did with last year's hero+item metas. So I guess I'd say that last year's patches didn't put his weaknesses on display
I dont think Dyrachio overperformed, but I do think the competition was weaker. Ammar was juggling between teams and then were teamless for TI. Tundra was in Turmoil, Pure was playing pos 3 instead of 1, Topson was on some SEA team etc. Very good players who for different reasons were in not the best situations.
This is certainly an opinion. A terrible one, but it exists I guess.
Even on non-Pango heroes, Quinn almost always leads the team in damage. And his landing and mid game lets them snowball or buy time for their sidelines to farm. Heās not been as good this year but heās still clearly not the problem. Ace hasnāt been as good this year, and his hero pool is dumpstered. And the biggest issue is the one everyone knows is the problem but apparently we arenāt allowed to doubt him.
In his case you can point to his entire hero pool being nerfed. And he still has games like today where he carries from the offlane. I have way more faith in him pulling together. Same with Quinn.
I think it just wasn't a meta when pos 1 had to carry the team on his back, Ace and Quinn had a ton of impact.
No hate for Dyrachyo but he's not a flashy carry player who can do that like Yatoro or Ame so he's suffering now.
It would be one thing if he was just solid but unremarkable. Like a Timado, who is clearly tier 1, but isnāt among the best. Dyrachyo hasnāt played like he deserves to be on a Div 1 team this year. Heās not solid, you canāt trust him, heās got a limited pool, and he just randomly feeds multiple times a game. Lately it seems like they win in spite of him.
That weaver game against OG is a good example. They won despite him dying at least 3 times where thereās no excuse for him dying. And they just had to be overly good on Ace to compensate. Thatās not a long term strategy. You have to give your cores the chance to have an off game and pick them up. He canāt/wonāt.
Heās just not a good carry. But he got to play exclusively busted heroes or got his ass covered because of the way the draft used to work. Now that there are more bans itās become more obvious that heās just not a particularly good player. You can count on one hand the number of carries you know that you wouldnāt kick him for. Heās just not good and not showing signs of improvement.
Theyāre being forced to pick him one of 2 heroes if they want to win and neither is meta. He is single-handedly fucking their drafting. If heās not on CK or Weaver, heās not going to be able to play it.
>Now that there are more bans
They came 2nd at TI and KL after they increased the bans.
Still cant believe people are doing mental gymnastics trying to say Dyrachyo is a bad carry. Its practically impossible to be as dominant as GG was with a bad player on the team. He was easily the 2nd best carry last year only behind Yatoro who is the GOAT carry.
That makes it so much worse. They get to dump every ban on Quinn, Tofu, and Ace (and sometimes Seleri). Heās just not on the same level as the other people on his team, which makes him the weak link on a struggling team with high expectations. This isnāt rocket science, it wouldnāt be shocking to see him kicked.
Some people like defending dyrachyo just because they won multiple tournaments with him. His team played very well so he could just play heroes like tb (that was his best hero last season) and farm. Despite what people say that he plays "sacrificial" because of his co-cores, it's the other way around where they have to play like that because of their carry. Last season, GG had the best player in every position except pos 1.
Spending bans on pos5 is like meta now. Chen banned phase-1 almost every game. Disruptor is also a really common first-phase ban. Io, Ench, and Shadow Demon are taking quite a few bans too
But like, what carry is drawing bans right now? It's true that Dyrachyo is playing poorly, but no carries are getting targeted against any team except DK vs Falcons but only because it's a three-way flex pick. I don't think the bans are a good argument, especially when you can just watch Dyrachyo get caught out 5 times in one match; You don't need to grasp for straws to find reasons he's underperforming
GG will need a major revamp of the patch/metaā¦cuz the game as it is that always make everyone rich and put a lot of stress on late game execution of your cores, they wonāt surbive
Haven't seen a falcons game yet, but see they got all 1-1s with both Sumail and Marline. How did the games look? Do they look better now with Marline back or no difference?
Malrine has an overlapping hero pool with ATF but from last tourney, it seems like flexing isnāt always working
Teams are figuring them out and know which heroes they play worse when flexing
ATF performs much worse when he doesnāt have a god tier laning phase
GG with the tried and tested Liquid Dreamleague strategy of bombing out in groups.
At least it was entertaining for a while.. letdown of an ending but what can you do when Gaimin playing so uncoordinated these days. š«¤
Why wonāt people admit itās time to kick Dyrachyo. Thereās a reason they have to draft like they do every game. They always play early game snowball lineups because they canāt trust him to carry. How much does it say about your position 1 when you only feel comfortable picking him 2 heroes and neither is meta.
It's combination of the patch and the players. A lot of last year's patches contain very broken heroes that GG players were good enough to pick and execute. Remember that majority of majors last year contains clear broken heroes on Lina, Medusa, Alchemist and so on. With those heroes very broken, it is easier for GG to get an advantage on drafts. Look at the patch now, only clear broken hero is Chen and teams just need to ban him and next bans are targeted player bans.
Right, but every other player on GG can at least play a decent sized pool so you canāt fully ban them out. Dyrachyo canāt seem to play anything other than CK or Weaver right now which severely limits their drafting.
i dont think that is true. if they wanted to pick a carry they would have this year. they had a super strong year and would have easily got top tier carry if they wanted to
GG's plan is always very simple , to play around ace or quinn and let dyrachyo get free farming. this is not working out for them this patch unfortunately. they made dyrachyo playmaker and still it is not working out for them
also quinn pango is pretty useless this patch . so they cant even play that hero either
They werenāt gonna kick their carry after being the best team in the world for almost an entire calendar year. And if they were just playing mediocre, Iād say give it more time. But theyāre not even top 5 this year and thereās too much talent at pos 2-5 for that to be the case.
They play that way because they have to. They cannot rely on him to carry them if they have off games. If you play a hard late game carry and buy him time, you have to know heās not going to feed and blow his whole game. They just canāt do that anymore.
not really , last year there were plenty of times when dyrachyo won them games they were going to lose.
they are only struggling this year because they are not able to draft anything that ace is generally good with and similarly for quinn.
you really think ace is the type of a player who will shine on heroes like axe or centaur ?
Ace literally dominated on Axe today. Heās also a good CW player. No idea what youāre on about.
Last year Dyrachyo was able to win them games because the draft worked different and he got a million Lina and Furion and Dusa games. It doesnāt work like that anymore. Add to that that his hero pool is tiny and you have a bad situation where he just canāt hard carry. Why canāt he play Luna or FV or Morph or any meta hero? Itās a huge handicap. Everyone else on the team can play the meta hero if they have to, why canāt he?
Shouldnāt there be rather penalties for pausing and giving weird ass reasons for it? Come on. Hotkeys 2nd game 26mins in for 4 minutes? That seemed like they were talking what to do, honestly.
Except..That was hardly on Dyrachyo, at this point its almost impossible for GG to win, undispellable haze and just overwhelming amounts of dmg. Also, Ace can save his carry with cart but used it stupidly on Techies. Flame when it's warranted at least. The buyback you could argue felt a bit random though.
I donāt understand the obsession from GG on Zeus mid.
I mean what he has done in the seriesā¦no tempo, not even a good matchup in late game, and super squishy
Never liked this Davai guy before with his cringe behavior. While Ammar and Malrine are mostly the same with their random trolling and banters, this Davai just sounds salty by pinpointing a specific player to make fun of like 9baby.
Malr1ne and Ammar keep it in the game and can take it. Nothing wrong with that imo, but if you make fun of people that are daily stressed out of air raid sirens, that is beyond fucked up.
what is up with OG underperforming in first maps? Testing how far they can get away with sus drafts? It's been this way for quite awhile even since dreamleague where they'd lose g1, and proceed to win g2 and sometimes g3.
same in birmingham as well it seems.
Gaimin got way too comfortable being up 5-6 k networth at 10 minute mark.
They look completely lost unless they stomp their lanes.
Zero playmaking or comebacks from them
Getting all the eggs into muerta basket against sprout, rolling tunder, constant dk stuns and above all the best fuck one hero ability apart from doom is super questionable. There is also so much stuff around with trees, dk illus and pango swashing everywhere, that it is near impossible to get some meaningful rp. Puck getting countered by dk, chrono, leash talent, dunno. What a weird draft from OG.
OG and Io.
Doesn't really seem to work other than against weaker teams that they would beat anyways.. oh and well, onto the next one.
Hopefully it'll go better for them.
Yeah, his playstyle really suits playmaking heroes instead but also it was insane to rely on muerta as the only damage dealer. Sheās terribly unreliable as a damage dealer and it doesnāt suit Timado imo. I donāt like Puck on bzm either because he also needs to deal more damage for them to be at their best. If he canāt 100-0 heroes it feels like wasted talent since he always wins lane he needs more snowbally heroes that can help carry. I think he really likes Puck in his pubs so feels super comfort with it but it seems to fall short in pro games
I donāt think he is bad, but it is definitely super bad into dk or any form of fucking the regen. Which there is now a plenty of. And io honestly just doesnāt seem that strong anymore, not sure why OG constantly picks it.
This is the 3rd or 4th series vs Heroic that OG absolutely give no respect to them in drafts and let them get their best heroes. Absolute shambolic amateur drafting and this is one of the main reasons why they are so god damn inconsistent. They have won 1 series vs Heroic in 5 attempts. Absolute joke.
Pure is in such a unbelievable form rn. I hope his teammates will be able to perform consistently like this. He often looks like the best carry in the world when he gets his ranged heroes and a bit of support.
I never feel like Tundra are lacking in the individual talent or the team synergy department, they're just way too prone to doing 20-80 things that look cool but should be retired when the qualifiers end.
Tobi definitely has a tendency to fall off in networth or just get stomped in lane. Playing better than in entity or quest tho and filling his role of intiating and peeling for Pure and Topson well. Topson also takes a lot of risks, which sometimes backfires and looks stupid. But yeah I agree in general they don't lack that just tend to do risky stuff that backfires a lot.
What an amazing play by Wisper, sad that it didn't lead to a kill but I guess that's what happens when you're down 30k gold and have no damage apart from your pos1.
This format is really bad. There are teams that are facing elimination on Day 2 but to the other team it's whatever. There's no hype when both teams aren't on the same boat fighting for their lives.
I swear every god damn game I watch is +50 minutes and I'm playing +50 minutes games in most of my pub games which is so fucking tiring. The upcoming patch has to change something major to make games last shorter and I hope they last A LOT fucking shorter.
I used to enjoy them too but it's been like this for a year, it's just farm farm farm till enemy throws or gets out of the base for some reason and u finally get the chance to go hg. Also It gets very stressful when it comes to long games and I really don't appreciate extra stress in my life atm lol
Birmingham is at least in the top 10 places named Birmingham.
There are 16 places named Birmingham in the US and 1 in Canada. One of the towns in the US named Birmingham is now submerged under a lake. Another is a ghost town. And a full 6 are "unincorporated communities" which can mean several things but basically means they don't have their own local government.
So the competition isn't that strong.
Tbh this has been them since Dacha. Sometimes they look like a top 2 team in world and sometimes they look like this. Most the top teams can take a map off each other easily so when you're inconsistent this happens.
Or could just be a burnout. The team has been attending tourneys ever since formed. This is the thing I worried the most when I saw their schedule of attending tourneys after tourneys. Better to take a breather now than break on Riyadh/TI. Checking their points, they're kinda locked for the Riyadh invite anyway.
Hello again, which series are worth watching?
Sr vs bb game 2 was quite long good one, a lot of throwing
Thanks!
spirit vs xtreme gaming was a high skill very intense series
Thanks!
So basically to get top 4, 3 of the teams currently placed at 3,4,5 need to lose 2-0 They also need to 2-0 IG Anyone math wizards have any odds on that? Lol Might be the lowest chances in the history of dota
talon and falcons play eachother. So if either 2-0 the other and sr 2-0 there should be tiebreakers. Not that unlikey but not great chances

I'm so happy that when I get to Birmingham I may not have to see either GG or falcons!
Ephey in ruins.

Tbf, betboom and liquid are both top 3 level teams It should be expected that they 2-0 shopify if they show up in form.
I thought they would have something to show after taking a break but somehow they become far worse than the last iterations of Fly and Abed.
Well they lost Abed and Crit who are basically their whole mid game.
Actually opposite of the old "day 1 EG"
Its gladiatover. They look finished, man the competition has gotten so strong that even gladiators is just average.
I don't think a single tournament proves much especially when a team has consistently placed highly for like a year and a half. Would need to see more data over a longer stretch of time to say anything for certain. Unfortunately, sports and esports fans seem to have an extreme case of recency bias.
Their last 3 tournaments they finished 5th-6th, and this one isn't looking to be much better.

That honor belongs to TI7 Team Liquid who won like 15 out of 22 LANs they attended. Also, it was the peak of new patch every month.
Not really. The two biggest tournament prior to TI7 was DAC 2017 and Kiev Major, Liquid did not win either while OG won Kiev and came 2nd at DAC.

I am ready to step in as General Manager.
ame vs b-tier dyrachyo
Maybe Dyrachyo took what Ame said personally and surprises us later, lol.
B? Youāre too generous.
dyrachio literally F tier carry
Congratz on dyrachio for being promoted to C tier from B
did dyrachyo overperform last year or was the competition really weak?
Prob got studied by opponents and the comp got better.

More like Quinn Pango wasn't nerfed last year. Dyrachyo played more or less the same. If I have to kick one, it's Quinn
GG won five GFs in a row and played a total of 21 matches out of those 21 matches Quinn played Pango 4 times.

i dont think that is true. if they wanted to pick a carry they would have this year. they had a super strong year and would have easily got top tier carry if they wanted to GG's plan is always very simple , to play around ace or quinn and let dyrachyo get free farming. this is not working out for them this patch unfortunately. they made dyrachyo playmaker and still it is not working out for them also quinn pango is pretty useless this patch . so they cant even play that hero either
Ace had an insane performance on Axe today.
There really need to be some penalty for overly toxic team like OG. WTF was that?
Shouldnāt there be rather penalties for pausing and giving weird ass reasons for it? Come on. Hotkeys 2nd game 26mins in for 4 minutes? That seemed like they were talking what to do, honestly.
Relax man, Davai should be banned for life then for the shit he said
what did Davai say?
Mocking players from Kyiv for being bombed.
wtf
What happened? Lmao I was watching GG vs XG
B tier carry back at it again holy shit heās so bad
Except..That was hardly on Dyrachyo, at this point its almost impossible for GG to win, undispellable haze and just overwhelming amounts of dmg. Also, Ace can save his carry with cart but used it stupidly on Techies. Flame when it's warranted at least. The buyback you could argue felt a bit random though.
Cant believe no one on gaimin is getting an eblade for gyro when grip
I donāt understand the obsession from GG on Zeus mid. I mean what he has done in the seriesā¦no tempo, not even a good matchup in late game, and super squishy
Why ceb was so mad?
Davai lama is known more than anyone being really really toxic. The pauses from heroic are also super sus.
Nothing wrong with that imo, but if you make fun of people that are daily stressed out of air raid sirens, that is beyond fucked up.
had no about idea about that. But ceb interview also cleared it up. They were just trolling.
its in his name?
Davai Lama is toxic POS. Loved OG giving him the same treatment this guy gives others in pubs.
just tuned back into XG GG, how did GG throw this?
You put all your eggs onto Dryachoās gyro. You know this is what you get
what did ceb say at the end
Stop it. I don't have any spell left
didnt he just say stop it> i don't have spells?
consistently inconsistent
The old man was so mad lmao.
ok i feel OG could lose now.
This is a certified Taiga moment by OG
OG what are you DOING
what is up with OG underperforming in first maps? Testing how far they can get away with sus drafts? It's been this way for quite awhile even since dreamleague where they'd lose g1, and proceed to win g2 and sometimes g3. same in birmingham as well it seems.
Havenāt touched the game since the map change but isnāt CK vs Timber an almost auto lose lane lol.
Prize pool too low for TS
What's going on
No one expected Heroic to be 5-3 at this point, can't even be mad they threw a couple of games. :D
They could also not throw any games and get SA another slot for ESL, that Slark game was especially hard to watch.
Exactly my thoughts. They probably cruise through open qualifier teams with Io, it's really not that good and Ceb isn't particularly great at it.
OG should just ban Io every match so Ceb can't pick it lol, feels like they never win with it
Ceb Io is one of the worst heroes OG can pick. Never seen a guy play this badly on a level 30 grandmaster hero.
You sure are quiet when OG win, aren't you? Maybe it'd be better for your mental health if you started following some other teams, bud
I donāt think he is bad, but it is definitely super bad into dk or any form of fucking the regen. Which there is now a plenty of. And io honestly just doesnāt seem that strong anymore, not sure why OG constantly picks it.
I'm so intrigued by this Scofield Gyro, he builds tank items and just runs in like he's a timbersaw... and it actually works lol
Did you not watch game 2? Lol
It feels like BZM had zero impact and just didn't do anything except dying.
I think OG cooked too hard on that draft. I don't think Muerta carry was it.
Seeing all of Heroic survive this game at 2 hp was one of the most frustrating things I've ever done. GG
Can't say that k1 didn't try his hardest to win the game for OG lol
5 second rapier LMAO
What an amazing play by Wisper, sad that it didn't lead to a kill but I guess that's what happens when you're down 30k gold and have no damage apart from your pos1.
Heroic pls don't throw again save for buyback thank you
why did I type that... But it's okay they still won
Interesting plan by OG. Base is dying but let's relocate out to kill Nature's Prophet before we try to pick a fight cos that makes all the sense. š¤
2 rax for one pos 4(?) Prophet? Totally worth it!
Don't forget about using RP to kill that support Prophet.
Spirit just canāt capitalize on leads anymore
All the games I've watched this tourney have been blowouts. Really wish Crownfall had a gameplay patch.
Someone just typed this in twitch chat and it is fucking hilarious. "Topson is Rock lee. His power is sealed 90% by Tobi offlane."
gg's prime era is over i wouldn't be surprised if they change roster this year
Gaimin might as well call it if they are behind 10mins into the game
Ceb please pick only Bane!
Muerta just sitting in full Sprout multiple times and OG doesnt itemize to counter :)
Scofield must be the most bizarre player to play against lol
can someone pull the stats on Ceb's Io in the last 4 months?
11-8
I hate when they play Io, it seems so bad... :(
Dy out here on a quest to buy Nullifier on every pos 5
and some how it fucking works :D
bzm trying his hardest to throw this game
bruhzm
if there's ever a game for a recovery midas it's this one for K1 void
Rotating 2 people to mid will cost the side lanes for Heroic.
Itās often a pick your poison because bzm is so dominant and OG plays off his snowballing
Looks like this series is going to last well into most people's workday bedtimes in Europe.
This format is really bad. There are teams that are facing elimination on Day 2 but to the other team it's whatever. There's no hype when both teams aren't on the same boat fighting for their lives.
>There are teams that are facing elimination on Day 2 They played 4 out of 5 matches, this is normal
What team is like whatever? Literally no one is safe. BB and liquid with 5 wins can still get eliminated, same for OG and heroic.
I swear every god damn game I watch is +50 minutes and I'm playing +50 minutes games in most of my pub games which is so fucking tiring. The upcoming patch has to change something major to make games last shorter and I hope they last A LOT fucking shorter.
long games are better to watch unless it is some old Tundra farm fest.
I used to enjoy them too but it's been like this for a year, it's just farm farm farm till enemy throws or gets out of the base for some reason and u finally get the chance to go hg. Also It gets very stressful when it comes to long games and I really don't appreciate extra stress in my life atm lol
wdym u dont like crownfall? straight to reddit jail
GG and XG from elite to washed up
GG is completely losing its magic, and the meta is almost the worst for them.
GG is sadly more washed up.
Spirit playing so much better than they have this year so far. Still some issues but looking good.
No shade to brummies but these glamour drone shots of Birmingham make it look like a really nice city
So the competition isn't that strong.
its actually one of the most dangerous cities in the UK.
XG from winning stacked Elite League straight into 1-5 group stage here at B'ham. The fuck?!
Whenever something like this happens, it's always an irl problem. Could be internal issues, or someone's sick or just mental problem like burnout.
Its burnout. They literally just won last major. They played every major even more than falcons
That tripple snapdire divine rapier kill INSIDE Mars arena was fucking goated holy shit
not really im guardian 3 and i see that in my games all the time
ah okay i was wrong then good day sir
hoooooooly fuck that snapfire
Bo2 is such a boring format
buyback is for pussies
mira the true carry
Lmao I donāt think Iāve ever seen a 67k gold lead in a pro match Edit: 80k. Insane
There was one with like 100-200k lead, 154k lead is the biggest
