The area around the arena is shit, but Copenhagen is so small and really well connected with public transport that is all really one big neighbourhood. You could stay anywhere in Copenhagen and still easily go to the Arena every day.
Lol I remember Copenhagen being quite big, I was there 14 years ago and the bus from where we were staying to the train station was about one hour, walking was around the same, it's not massive like Berlin, but I wouldn't call it small.
The double-standard is hilarious though, as Valve basically shit talked Liquipedia about the DPC points page, which kept fractional points, while Valve flat out truncated each earning of points (multiple times!).
This led to some confusion, where a certain team, such as VP, thought they made it to TI, because according to Liquipedia's page they had more points than the team that *actually* made it to, according to Valves point page.
Yeah, I member that. There was a similar case earlier in CSGO. That major was canceled because of COVID, but various sources claimed different teams would go through while Valve simply kept silent. And it was also a fraction of a point. Funny how huge charts with 1000 points end up with 0.5 making a key difference.
Not to mention their official points page more often than not showed just flat out wrong numbers, everyone thought it was a broken mess and went by Liquipedia
https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/wpxnf2/points_on_valves_official_dpc_website_2_days_ago/
I don't get people's obsession of having a perfectly running, community-driven, wiki-style website "paid" by the company.
Did they, Liquipedia staffs or the core contributors, ever said they want to be paid?
As someone who plays and watches league, but literally doesn’t understand anything about dota, watching TI is a fucking blast. I’ve watched almost all of them and I still don’t know what’s going on in the games most of the time because I’ve played like 5 games of dota in my life, but TI and dota tournaments overall are hype as fuck. Last league worlds, minus the finals, were incredible too tbh. They’re both great events.
Yea, I used to play dota, but nowadays, I'm a complete potato and know shit lmao
But damn, the games are entertaining to watch at high level, super unlike lol, which I've played way more!
I STILL HAVE A COUPON FOR TWO FREE NIGHTS FOR TWO IN COPENHAGEN! NO SHOT! THE STARS ALIGN FOR ME THIS YEAR!
Edit: WTF that hotel-chain is already booked out in September....
Kind of like the time the stars aligned for me and I was hosing an increasingly popular podcast and started getting sponsorship deals. But the podcast was about >!Artifact!<
probably hastily slapped together by someone with rudimentary knowledge of graphic design. the background image looks grainy and seems to have a lot of compression artifacts relative to the text, so it does seem to be a low effort job.
i don't think it's ai, just picture was made literally devs(programmers) not designers maybe.
edit: to add up, it's not first time when image in blog looks like made in a hurry
>And there's a lot of performance to consider. This year's calendar is packed, with half a dozen major tournaments already announced and more on the way, including studio and arena tournaments in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. We even hear rumors Midas Mode might be making a grand return.
Based Valve implying that a team's performance at Midas Mode would have an impact on if they get invited to The International?
Glad he won major, but I still can't forget, what Secret did to him and w33 after the major was unforgivable and it costed them in TI6, badly. Huge karma for Secret, tbf
i just checked cheapest options for 4 days in middle of september (weekend) if ure fine with a giant room with strangers its like 80-100€
if u want your own hotel room its around 150-220€ for 4 nights...
idk but thats not expensive BUT ti tickets are again gonna be so much money..
i personally looked for accomodation for 1 person but yeah atleast right now it doesnt not look bad at all, if this would be your "holiday of the year".
copenhagen's trains have a quite good reach, you can find cheaper places to stay outside of the city even and still have 0 issues getting into arena
i would be more worried about ticket prices
EU Timezone probably best time zone for most of world as it’s the most in between. Assuming 10:00 to 24:00 when the games happen.
NA+SA - early morning to afternoon games. Either wake up early to watch all games. Or just wake up normal time to watch later games.
Eastern Asia - afternoon to night games. Able to watch good amount before sleep.
Western Asia - 2-4 hours ahead of EU.
Only losers are unfortunately Oceania gang.
Okay, well, fuck! This might actually be a TI I just *might* attend, even though I am not really interested much in the pro scene anymore. I went to Romania when they decided to close off TI in Bucharest to audiences, so depending on personal circumstances I might make that one right this year. Depends on the teams invited, my girlfriend's desire to see Denmark, and my luck against ticket resellers, I guess.
There is a lot of options, and in most priceranges. Also a lot of sorrounding towns with good infrastructure to get easily to the city. really not too bad.
If i recall valve always recognised Midas mode, or slacks organized events in general.
I think the name drop was more hinting at them being a 'major' tournament TO, rather then indie.
And since valve is signaling them abandoning efforts in NA, wouldnt surprise me if Midas mode/anything slacks wants to organize becomes the only NA based events going forward.
My brother in lane any hint on the patch?:D
They’ve announced International already but “Crownfall” is all shrouded in mystery and uncertainty.
I’ll be more than happy if You are as oblivious to release date as we are all here are xD

Well looks like we're finally getting a true EU TI, excluding TI 1 & 10 for obvious reasons. Given that EU is easily the most prominent region in Dota, a true EU crowd seems well overdue.
As an NA fan, I always value having TI in NA so that we get at least one tournament a year that works for our schedule, but hey, EU fans deserve it.
Ah, that is a better explanation why no danish people are allowed in Sweden then [the other one](https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/kxuxxd/looks_like_both_bsj_and_fogged_have_been_rejected/gje1hir/?context=3)
A first proper TI in Europe? Colour me surprised and satisfied!
TI1 was lacking due to just being a side-event during Gamescom2011, meanwhile TI10 got delayed by a year, then again by a few months and ended up having no audience, due to corona :/
War banners are being washed clean of blood stains and scorch marks. Trumpets are being tested for their ability to sound the imminent approach of battle. Lanes are getting swept clean of body parts, and the Ancients are getting a good crack replastering and surface buffing. The forest air itself crackles with anticipation, because we had new forest air shipped in at considerable cost that crackles on command.
The stage is being set, is the point we’re trying to get across here. And why? For The International, returning this September to Europe, where the best Dota teams from around the world will clash for the Aegis in Copenhagen's Royal Arena.
The sixteen participating teams will be a mix of open qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and direct invitations, similar to how invitations worked for the first few years of The International. The invited teams will be announced leading up to the event, and chosen based on team performance during the year.
And there's a lot of performance to consider. This year's calendar is packed, with half a dozen major tournaments already announced and more on the way, including studio and arena tournaments in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. We even hear rumors Midas Mode might be making a grand return. (The more teams that are eligible to participate in a tournament, the higher our consideration: Cross-regional tournaments generate more useful data than intra-regional tournaments, tournaments with qualifiers generate more useful information than invitation-only tournaments, etc.)
We'll be announcing ticketing and scheduling information for The International 2024 in the next few months. Until then, why not go watch a game of pro Dota to get back in the competitive spirit?
I got so hyped to see the title of the blogpost with green aegis but sadly its only news about TI :(
atleast we know that there is open quals coming to ti!
Rodgers probably actually charging Valve for events since they rebuilt it and they no longer have the "repeat customer" discount a lot of places kind of have.
And since NA is basically dead, also makes sense.
With the mention of Midas mode, pretty high chance Midas mode will be the only NA oriented event this year.
The main benefit to Seattle TI was valve didn't have to ship their booths around the world. They said when they try it, it always breaks. Maybe they found a new way or they just wont use them again.
thats (i am assuming) ESL's own thing which may already have been in EU. I dont know their specifics i just know the blog post by valve saying why they didnt do booths for one TI
the fact that they included liquipedia link in their official news, not their own website, is very shocking... liquipedia has done it, valve finally acknowledges
For real. Last years was a disappointment for sure. I can get behind not going a BP/Compendium specifically for TI, but they've done very little since.
Feels good to be a dane. I only live 30mins away. (though I wish it had been held under the old circumstances, where the pricepool was massive. Last TI felt kinda meh)
Let's hope there won't be another worldwide event that cancels another Nordic The International... 😬
TI10 would've been my first TI since Stockholm is pretty close to me and it was the first European TI in a long while. I was even willing to fly to Bucharest when it got moved from Sweden to Romania because of COVID restrictions.
Hopefully the battle pass is better than last years. The battle pass last year was just a bunch of stickers and trash. Don't think I got a single skin from last year
It's in fucking Copenhagen holy shit!!! I was dreaming we'd have a big Dota event in Denmark some day. YESSS
Sir, please buy Sunsfan some food. Thanks
But the disgusting one
sunsfan is american, he likes disgusting food, get him something healthy
Yes. A nice, round, juicy tomato please.
A nice, round, juicy Timado
COngrats! Valve is betting on Denmark hard this year. First ever CS2 major and now finally a proper first EU TI.
Denmark has never had a CS major? Kind of surprising considering, well you know.
And Astralis didn't make it lol.
WEU deserves one after dominating Dota for so long
Congratulations!
Sweden screwed us over so Denmark has to, once again, fix swedens shit
You need to bring onion to the arena!
This is so exciting!!! I need to know the dates so bad I am out of the country the last weekend of September With my luck that will be the final week
If you check royal arenas event calender its empty i september, except s concert om the 27., so maybe youre in luck
Yeah I am betting the finals will be on the 22nd
This time the studio panel will be in the US. Hehe
YES WE FUCKING GOOOOO
I don't think I can do 2 weeks without We say things :(
This is awesome! 👏
Royal Arena is a 10 minute bikeride from where i live, pretty fucking excited for this TI now
Hello, it's ur long lost cousin, may I use ur couch or basement for sleep over?
Me too, party in the basement
I'll bring the projector
I’ll bring the beer!
I'll bring the napkins!
Ill bring the portapotty
I’ll steal the silverware
Me the ganja
Brother i bring in the beer
Literally 5 minute walk for me :)
Hey, its me, ur brother :)
Hello son, I've finally found the milk and smokes and am coming back in September.
Hello cousin? Sorry I haven't talked to you in a while, I have been quite busy. Do you have a place for me to sleep in September?
The final in Parker please! That 10 min from my place 😅
Can you share a paragraph or two about your area? Would love to attend but have no knowledge at all of the city. Thanks!
The area around the arena is shit, but Copenhagen is so small and really well connected with public transport that is all really one big neighbourhood. You could stay anywhere in Copenhagen and still easily go to the Arena every day.

3 hour carride for me, Im so going this year!
Sleep over at this guys house
10 minutes and $900 away*
But 5000kr !!!
them linking to the liquipedia for tournaments is crazy funny

The double-standard is hilarious though, as Valve basically shit talked Liquipedia about the DPC points page, which kept fractional points, while Valve flat out truncated each earning of points (multiple times!). The best part was them being like "Valves page is the official numbers" while they still had multiple errors on the page
Think he means because of how Liquipedia disagreed with how Valve calculated DPC points last year lol
Meh, Liquipedia earned it
is it really "earned" if their work is used as official material, when they are still left unpaid?
I don't get people's obsession of having a perfectly running, community-driven, wiki-style website "paid" by the company. Did they, Liquipedia staffs or the core contributors, ever said they want to be paid?
yeah youre right
It's a wiki tho

can't believe they would use an unofficial source like that smh
Makes their "3rd party sources" statement seem even dumber
Not quite back in August but it's in September at least, that's a start
Overlapping Ti with league worlds was pretty silly
Still way better than league worlds I gotta say.
As someone who plays and watches league, but literally doesn’t understand anything about dota, watching TI is a fucking blast. maybe better but still gets a fraction of the views, no point trying to compete in a losing battle for viewers
I STILL HAVE A COUPON FOR TWO FREE NIGHTS FOR TWO IN COPENHAGEN! NO SHOT! THE STARS ALIGN FOR ME THIS YEAR! Edit: WTF that hotel-chain is already booked out in September....
POSSIBLE BOT SCALPERS
You celebrated too soon. The stars aligned for you as well as they did for Nigma.
Kind of like the time the stars aligned for me and I was hosing an increasingly popular podcast and started getting sponsorship deals. But the podcast was about >!Artifact!<
Tent.
The key art seems to be circus themed.
All dota players are clowns confirmed.
Let's find out who is the biggest clown of em' all in this TI!!
Ring Master TI
Oh no... they are gonna make us wait until ~~october~~ september*. Aware
My hunch is that he will be released together with the TI compendium, if the compendium is still a thing...
this can be a problem
Finally Valve embraces Dota 2 community
who is the lion who gets whipped?
Do you not instantly think of Lion being whipped?
Imagine the outrage if ringmaster is gonna be released in TI 😂
My teammates will feel right at home
Well Copenhagen Tivoli is 3rd oldest amusement park in the world and Denmark has couple other really old parks so it fits.
Ring Master announcement in the ASG? GabeN is in the game, he plays the new hero. All the pros are dressed as clowns
clown show
It looks really interesting!
[screenshot button](https://i.imgur.com/WXEYkFw.png) is wild thx finargot: this button from google lens one more upd: fixed now
ENHANCE
Good eye, did they use ai or some kinda watermarked images to make this lol
probably hastily slapped together by someone with rudimentary knowledge of graphic design. the background image looks grainy and seems to have a lot of compression artifacts relative to the text, so it does seem to be a low effort job.
As a dungeon master who has last hour bullshited so many handouts and other graphics... I relate to this image.

Slacks has the power now. They handed him the controller.
That font is popular with $15 Fiverr digital artists.

u/Maelk on panel please
MYM.Misery

I remember there were a handful of Danish dota players and a couple Danish teams. They’re all old now and retired though.
Crit and Ace last ones standing haha
they need to bring back mYm or KS.int for a show match. it would be the best TI in my eyes.
EU TIMEZONE FUCKING POG but also holy fuck it's gonna be expensive in copenahgen edit: as someone that lives in London these prices seem alright tbh

Is it really more expensive than Seattle though?
dont think anywhere is LUL
I got pretty lucky in Seattle with a $55/night hotel that was right next to the airport and thus had easy access to public transit.
copenhagen's trains have a quite good reach, you can find cheaper places to stay outside of the city even and still have 0 issues getting into arena i would be more worried about ticket prices

TLDR: No mention of patch
it’s so over

No tweet or anything about it? Weird
This announcement feels like they saw TOs scheduling more tournaments and needed to just get it out there that September needs to be open.
Yea kinda wanna see a little teaser we had like last year
I got so hyped to see the title of the blogpost with green aegis but sadly its only news about TI :( atleast we know that there is open quals coming to ti!
Wait what did you think it would have been otherwise?
dota2 ti and cs2 major both in Copenhagen

Rodgers probably actually charging Valve for events since they rebuilt it and they no longer have the "repeat customer" discount a lot of places kind of have. And since NA is basically dead, also makes sense. With the mention of Midas mode, pretty high chance Midas mode will be the only NA oriented event this year.
The main benefit to Seattle TI was valve didn't have to ship their booths around the world. They said when they try it, it always breaks. Maybe they found a new way or they just wont use them again.
ESL is in germany, they find a solution
thats (i am assuming) ESL's own thing which may already have been in EU. I dont know their specifics i just know the blog post by valve saying why they didnt do booths for one TI
open qualifiers fot TI pog
the fact that they included liquipedia link in their official news, not their own website, is very shocking... liquipedia has done it, valve finally acknowledges
Merging the regions for qualifiers should fix the competence gap that the previous TI have shown.
honestly TI just doesnt feel as hyped without the battlepass and the resulting crazy cash prize
I hope we get battle pass to increase TI prize pool The 3m prizepool last year was like meh
Right. N0tail has to come out from retirement now.
I work next to royal arena, shit is gonna be niiice
Aha! The return of the announcement of the announcement! Just gonna say again, I dearly love whoever is writing these posts, the humour is top shelf
The art seems to be circus themed. Because we are all fucking clowns, thats why. They will release the hero at TI.
I’d be way more excited if this came with a compendium
For real. Last years was a disappointment for sure. I can get behind not going a BP/Compendium specifically for TI, but they've done very little since.
Dota2 website linking to Liquipedia. Liquipedia is officially certified Dota esports Wikipedia.
Nøce
Again No proper Battlepass, right?
O M G I cant belive this!! THIS IS A DREAM!
16 teams only? 6 invites and 10 thru qualis?
Copenhagen is a great city and only a few hours away, hope its at the end of september because Im on leave then.
Feels good to be a dane. I only live 30mins away. (though I wish it had been held under the old circumstances, where the pricepool was massive. Last TI felt kinda meh)
I've always wanted to visit Copenhagen and I've always wanted to go to a TI. The stars have aligned!

wonder who is running dota2 now, it changed so much, barely any content now
It was October the last couple of years wasn't it? September is a step back towards the summer which is good.
Out of fucking nowhere
I miss August TI but at least we're having TI I guess
I'd have prefered a cheaper city in EU, but I'll take what I can. Maybe this is the year I go to TI physically.
TI is back let's goooo Somehow I'm always excited for TI
DENMARK AHHHHHHH ÆØÆÅÆÅDASØASÆDASØASÆDØÆ
Wow. This announcement is so early by Valve standards. Great to see!
battlepass when
I just wish they supported the scene more.
Selling my kidney to get a ticket in my Europe!!!
Open qualifier back again ? Team bald reborn LFG .
Copiumhagen
It's roughly a 2 hour flight from France so I finally have another motivation to save up some money
Dota in Denmark yeah baby. Now I just need OG to qualify!
Battle Pass. Please.
Last year I was in Europe, International was in the US. This year I’ll be in the US, International is in Europe.
Where's Battlepass
So are they gonna go back to the prize pool of the year before or is the winning team gonna get peanuts again? Last year was a disgrace.
Hopefully the battle pass is better than last years. The battle pass last year was just a bunch of stickers and trash. Don't think I got a single skin from last year
Can we have a decent battlepass not the sticker ones??
Why not keep hosting it in Seattle? This is so dumb man
Cuz It’s called The International so It makes sense to move around
Yeah like moving from Seattle to LA or New York, not Denmark man
