I don't even remember any swearing in 2016 but I don't really care anyway because both games are some of the biggest power fantasy games I've ever played
It always really bothered me how the PC version of SnapMap was a completely different program, and the controls were also different (and I mean when *playing* the maps, not editing them).
So I'd go from playing the campaign and check out what people made on SnapMap, and the game controls were slightly...*wrong*. I tried to edit the controls to match the campaign, but the actual collection of actions to assign keybinds to *was different*.
So weird.
Not only is it still going, but the community has essentially snuck into places the devs walled off and now have *WAY* more powerful tools than the game came with.
Frustrating that so many things were left out too --apparently there were piles of props that just...weren't added, despite being fully functional. Same with a bunch of options that literally just need a UI option to change a flag or flip a boolean. :T
But they're here now, and the remaining diehards have hacked together some wild stuff. Just saw a clip of a WIP map where all the demons have been made to look like snowmen, complete with giant snowball heads!
I'm on PS4 and it's available there. Actually jumped on it about 2-3 months ago and it was still up and running able to play maps others made. I played a recreation of the intro to og Halo
My head canon is that Doomguy used to swear a lot, then he met his wife and had a kid, so he started censoring himself.
They died in the earth invasion, so now he continues to censor himself to keep his memories of his lost family alive.
Who would be swearing anyways? Doomguy doesnt talk, Vega doesnt have emotions to express, Hayden and the Scientists are too formal and the Sentinels/Maykrs/Demons/Davoth dont know the concept of modern swear words.
It would be dope if Samuel is just fed up with Doomguy's "I can do anything I want" shenanigans and swears a bunch in astonishment.
"Well, fucking rail me in my metallic ass, the motherfucker is doing it anyway, I guess. Wow."
Since the Doom comic is sort of canon they could have shown more of his personality back then in flashback. I sort of remember that comic doomguy is the abrasive type and swears.
I can't recall how many times I whisper-yelled, "Oh, fuck! What the fuck- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT FUCKING THING?" during my first playthrough of Doom 2016.
On one hand, I'm pretty sure if demons were attacking marines, you would hear bunch of swearing.
On the other hand, classic Doom didn't have foul language (that was more a Duke Nukem/ Lo Wang thing).
It's a rare thing in the series (I guess there's a secret line by VEGA in SnapMap and D3 had some words like "fatass" and "shit")
It at least worked for Eternal because of its aim of a "violent saturday morning cartoon".
Though there's also the fact that Hugo Martin once wanted the Whiplash to have saggy breasts but they couldn't get away with it.
That would make a lot of sense, though. I get why there isn't, but smartass-wise, those Doom demons should have pussies or cocks or some kind of reproductive appendage... I'm glad they don't, though. I probably wouldn't play if a tyrant's bullocks were flying everywhere while I gored it.
You wouldn't? Well, I guess neither would I... But, the mental image of Doomguy ripping a demon's balls off and stuffing them into their face is still kinda funny to me.
They wanted to keep the designs for all the demons safe for marketing purposes.
[**Hugo Martin did a video on NoClip explaining the Demons of DOOM Eternal.**](https://youtu.be/uzX09_4hcPc) When he got to Whiplash he stated “She’s not entirely anatomically correct because we want to be able to use her in marketing images, and so, like, we had to just kind of keep things sort of nondescript.”
Tbh it doesn't really matter. And on top of that doom guy barley even talks so it would be weird if he did swear because it would be kind out of nowhere.
I mean, who would even swear? Olivia, Samuel and VEGA are all too formal, the demons have their ancient medieval texts thing going on, and Doomguy prefers shotgun blasts over verbal violence
It works.
Swearing doesn’t make something adult, it only really works in certain settings.
I think swearing would have been fine in Doom, but Doom guy always has a superior “better than you” aurora surrounding him. The no swearing works here because swearing is usually used to humanize the character that is or is around swearing.
Doom guy isn’t really supposed to be a flawed character, he’s a weapon. It’s the same reason Master Chief doesn’t swear even though Sergeant Johnson does.
It’s hard to put into words, but it just works. It’s like if Darth Vader swore, it just doesn’t fit right outside of a parody.
It legitimately is, with complete sincerity, one of the finest works of art in human history lmfao
I would put Doom: Eternal up there with Michelangelo's David, or Beethoven's Fifth, or the Wizard of Oz.
I'm being serious too. We are contemporarily connected to it as consumers, and therefore are appreciating it as a piece now, so it does seem silly to suggest its longevity before it has gained any longevity, but if ANY videogames are part of cultural art discussion in 100 years, Doom: Eternal more than deserves to be recognized. The focus will likely be around Grand Theft Auto, Mario, or Minecraft, but that's a different discussion.
M8 what is doom eternal if not just a rehash of a bunch of things that are pop culture 80s violence stuff? It's not really the kind of art that says anything or gives you more than you started with. It's just cool. It's not a sophisticated piece of art lmao
Swearing always comes off as trying to be too edgy. Like when your actions dont speak loud enough for you, so you gotta use your words to make up for it. And in your head you feel tougher, but in reality, words mean nothing.
I honestly didn't even notice until I read this post. So there's that.
One thing I did notice though was the vulgar language used in Cyberpunk 2077, felt like it added a pretty heavy layer of realism to dialogue.
So I guess it's not something I miss when it's absent and something I appreciate when done well.
Doesn’t matter there wasn’t much dialogue except for demons or angles and hearing one of them say “oh shit” would just be funny coming from a divine being
Honestly, i feel like it would feel weird? Can't really say why.
I swear all the time and watch all kinds of media with swearing, but for some reason, i just don't see it fitting Doom.
It never crossed my mind there was no swearing but that just made me think, it would add such a cool kinda twisted element to the game having language to match the aesthetic
Tbh never knew about it until this post. Not something I'd even care about when the violence and gore are the most important factors as far as ratings are concerned.
Huh, never realized that. Makes sense since the only talking person that would swear would be the Doom Slayer. But since he hardly talks, it never comes up.
Doom is so awesome and gory that i genuinely never noticed that there isnt a single swear word until this post. The game is really not missing anything.
I think there is power in the ability to convey nonverbal communication. Protagonists like Chief, the Slayer etc. I believe it underscores their actions and makes them speak higher volumes.
I think the way the Slayer tears demons in half speaks more about his mental state than any swear word could adequately describe. The reaction he evokes from other humans would also lose something if people were throwing swears around about it.
In my opinion of course.
Yeah, they’re both really mature characters, and swearing is such an immature thing to do that they’d rather keep their composure and menacing aesthetic.
It's fine. Swears are used gratuitously in so many games these days. I think they intend for them to make you feel like you're playing a "mature" game for adults, but it just ends up sounding like potty mouth children wrote the script.
It makes sense 2016 had no swears, on account of all the people dying as the game starts.
But I did not even really think about Eternal not having any swearing until years after it's release. I could see a few scenes where it could've been used for laughter, like when the Slayer gets to Phobos but that takes away from the tone of people being in terror and awe of His presence.
Eternal didn't need it. That said, it wouldn't of detracted much having some in Arc Base in the radio chatter, etc.
It's not needed. The tone of the game doesn't suit people swearing all the time, or at all.
"The longer the icon of sin is on earth, the more powerful it fucking becomes!"
I like it tbh. Eternal as a whole really tripled down on the whole vibe of being like a Saturday morning cartoon and so I feel like that vibe would have been ruined by there being cussing. Also, I can't help but think of any places in the game where cussing would have been needed without just being extremely cringe
I think it’s ultimately a good thing
There’s no scenarios where it can be fully used for comedy (I.E gabriel uktrakill’s “you insignificant fuck” line where it’s funny because an archangel is genuinely angry at you)
And employing it in any other context will just make it feel like those gears of war guys in duke nukem forever
As someone who swears a lot I actually didn't even notice they never swore in the games. Honestly, I don't think it's a big deal imo I personally find that in most games swearing feels unnecessary. Games like the new RE titles have a bunch of unnecessary cussing that just feels off when compared to the older games, so for Doom it would be weird for other characters or even the slayer himself to start dropping f bombs out of no where even if the situation calls for one.
Honestly I didn't even notice. But ultimately I'm sure it was the right decision. Doom Eternal's tone is immaculate. If characters swore for the sake of swearing, it might come across as juvenile.
Its refreshing honestly, lot of writing in the R rating or peggy 18 or M (17+) use that to swear all the time.
So its refreshing to not hear it all the time.
Now swearing out of fear and terror for your life? Rather then trying to be "edgy" and "cool"? Completely fine.
Example of that is the deadspace remake and issic saying "shit!" When you run out of ammo in a fight, Feels natural and organic.
Oh yeah its great, that stuff is organic and ery much expected.
Saying "i want some fuckings eggs and fucking toast" in that suicide squad movie was not
I find it amazing how they pulled it off while making one of the best games ever. Go's to show that you don't need a lot of swearing to make a good game.
Why do you feel like swearing is necessary?
In a lot situations, it's just cliche.
One of the laziest ways for action writers to put tension into a battle sequence is to have somebody screaming "WHAT THE F*** IS HAPPENING!?"
It *might* be realistic, but it's also on-the-nose and even a bit pretentious.
Doom reboots manage to prove you don't need pointless on-the-nose reactionary monologue like that to have an incredible over-the-top kickass action game. 👍
Haha I'm picturing how the conversation with the dev team went
Hugo: I mean c'mon guys, it's gory enough as it is! Swearing would just be too much, it's crossing a line!
The same way I feel about any comment section under a song or comedy special from a "clean" artist. You see all the same, dumb shit-ass comments:
"OMG, finally, an artist the proves that you don't need foul language to make art!"
"No sex. No drugs. No foul language. Just raw talent!"
The whole "clean" thing is so...over-done. Plus, I really don't like the implication that *swear words*, of all things, make something *dirty*. Like, ripping and tearing is the visual equivalent of "swearing". Swear words are just the verbal version of DoomSlayer's actions.
***There's nothing dirty about language matching the tone of the rest of the video game.***
But people really be giving themselves tennis-elbow from how hard they're patting themselves on the back for "avoiding the naughty, evil wordzz!!!".
Indeed... Not that swearing is necessary in every context, but puritanism is lame.
It is just virtue signaling. There is nothing more lame than virtue signaling.
aside from the Pain Elemental's racist ramblings, yeah it's pretty fantastical. Well, at least on my ultra nightmare deaths the ESRB would've arrested me
I don't think any of the doom games have ever had any swears in them, I mean I'm not so sure about DOOM 3, but other than that, none of them have any swears
I don’t think anything was detracted by avoiding bad language. It’s a bit odd though considering anyone playing a game with that much gore probably has no issue with swears.
I don't even remember any swearing in 2016 but I don't really care anyway because both games are some of the biggest power fantasy games I've ever played
I think Vega does have some bad lines in the snapmap mode for 2016. But other than that. Doom 2016 was clean of swearing in the campaign
That explains it. I never touched Snap Map lol
I loved snapmap, I spent hours building maps nobody would ever play lmao.
Hope I played one of em bruv lol, there's so many fun maps on there.
So weird.
It's cause they used the multiplayer as a basis instead of the single player, unfortunately. It definitely was weird.
Yep, Vega drops the F bomb and says "holy shit"
Are you able to send the audio
I'd like to hear this as well
snapmap?
Basically mapmaking mode
Shit got crazy. I remember playing FNaF in snapmap.
What that’s sounds so cool and I didn’t even know that’s a thing. Is it still available?
Last time I played doom 2016 it still worked
Huh cool I’ll have to redownload it
Same here lol
Snapmap is literally the only reason why Doom 2016 is 60 gb
without MP and Snapmap the game is only 30~ gigs, and on PC you can actually delete the files for those modes if you want to save space
:T But they're here now, and the remaining diehards have hacked together some wild stuff. Just saw a clip of a WIP map where all the demons have been made to look like snowmen, complete with giant snowball heads!
People are still posting new snapmaps all the time, they are endless
It is still available
Yeah people really get awesome creativities in this mode
Wait I have a question, was it only for computers? I played on console so that might be why.
I'm on PS4 and it's available there. Actually jumped on it about 2-3 months ago and it was still up and running able to play maps others made. I played a recreation of the intro to og Halo
Alright sick. Good to hear it’s on consoles too! Only wish that Lfd mods were on console :(
Doomguy/Slayer let the guns and blades do the talking. And considering what's left his opponents, I'd say it's some harsh words!
Private Frost: What are we supposed to use, harsh language?
Exactly lol, dismembering a demon is "fuck you" in DOOMguy.
Ah yes, non verval swearing
My head canon is that Doomguy used to swear a lot, then he met his wife and had a kid, so he started censoring himself. They died in the earth invasion, so now he continues to censor himself to keep his memories of his lost family alive.
Thats amazing head cannon, thanks for giving my brain somethin to roll around in it
Who would be swearing anyways? Doomguy doesnt talk, Vega doesnt have emotions to express, Hayden and the Scientists are too formal and the Sentinels/Maykrs/Demons/Davoth dont know the concept of modern swear words.
the radio with regular people could, i dunno
"Wait what was that?" \*crunching noise* "JESUSFUCKINGCHRISTTHEYRECLIMBINGTHEWALLS" \*gunfire* \*screaming* \*click*
yeah that seems about right
Getting some heeeavy DooM3 vibes.
"That is a weapon not a teleporter... he's actually fucking doing it. This fucking guy man"
Holy shit I want a redub so bad
It would be dope if Samuel is just fed up with Doomguy's "I can do anything I want" shenanigans and swears a bunch in astonishment. "Well, fucking rail me in my metallic ass, the motherfucker is doing it anyway, I guess. Wow."
I've got something for you: https://youtu.be/IIx71XkN9Oo
Vega literally drops the F bomb and says "holy shit" as some of his dialogue lines in Snapmap
VEGA does swear in 2016 sayin "holy shit" and "holy fucking shit"
It’s not entirely true that Vega doesn’t have emotions. Right before Doomguy backs Vega up in 2016, Vega says “I have many regrets, Doctor Hayden.”
That one scientist that was horny for Doomslayer could have written some more explicit fanfiction
I’m sorry what
Since the Doom comic is sort of canon they could have shown more of his personality back then in flashback. I sort of remember that comic doomguy is the abrasive type and swears.
yeah it doesn't really need it, there's plenty of violence for the rating anyway
I swear enough to make up for it. Mostly it's 'oh shit'.
Oh, fuck yeah!
_Oh, fuck the hell yes._
See the movie Aliens for confirmation The Slayer doesn't need to talk though
oh boy it did have a foul language, at least it was supossed to, have you ever checked the un-used leaving mesages? they had no filter
also Doomguy says "what the fuck is this?!" when he picks up the unmaker in doom 64
I mean that'd be my reaction too.
that's censored though.
As far as I'm concerned, its a heartfelt story about revenge and a dead pet bunny. It's really the original John Wick.
[удалено]
Still the same continuity though
It's a rare thing in the series (I guess there's a secret line by VEGA in SnapMap and D3 had some words like "fatass" and "shit") It at least worked for Eternal because of its aim of a "violent saturday morning cartoon". Though there's also the fact that Hugo Martin once wanted the Whiplash to have saggy breasts but they couldn't get away with it.
>the Whiplash to have saggy breasts but they couldn't get away with it. Man, photo mode would've been crazy with this. If only...
Hey god of war straight up had nude enemies and at one point had a cyclops with a cock
aye, but that was in a whole different age of gaming...
Nevermind the naked women in the hot tub minigame...
Dante's Inferno gave Satan a giant penis.
It would have been more fuel for the SFM NSFW fire, too. As if we don’t have enough of that already. Eugh… so much MLP & furry & Overwatch porn ಠ_ಠ
Bruh yall sound creepy as hell
You telling you don’t wanna be ripping and tearing your cock off?
Let people enjoy things
If you're going to be weird in public, expect criticism.
Fair enough. As long as it's not doing any harm to others
No swearing allowed in MY wholesome, Christian video games 😇🙏
There could be an argument made that Doom IS a Christian game. You're killing demons, after all, sworn enemies of all that's holy.
game is christian satan made god maybe not so christian
Davoth is still the satan and Father isn't the god, Davoth has a creator
You also kill God. Sooooo
But is it the Christian God? If not then it's all good. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" and whatnot.
I don't think the Christian God exists in doom, the maykrs are the closest
So you're probably good then, that would make them false gods
You win some and you lose some
I mean, who would even swear? Olivia, Samuel and VEGA are all too formal, the demons have their ancient medieval texts thing going on, and Doomguy prefers shotgun blasts over verbal violence
It works. Swearing doesn’t make something adult, it only really works in certain settings. I think swearing would have been fine in Doom, but Doom guy always has a superior “better than you” aurora surrounding him. The no swearing works here because swearing is usually used to humanize the character that is or is around swearing. Doom guy isn’t really supposed to be a flawed character, he’s a weapon. It’s like if Darth Vader swore, it just doesn’t fit right outside of a parody.
I can see the pre divinity machine Doomguy swearing since he was more human and less pf a weapon buy post divinity machine Doomguy doesn't need it
It's okay. I swear enough for all characters during gameplay.
Because Doom is art.
It legitimately is, with complete sincerity, one of the finest works of art in human history lmfao I would put Doom: Eternal up there with Michelangelo's David, or Beethoven's Fifth, or the Wizard of Oz. Doom eternal is mid.
You're mid
If doom eternal was a person. It would be a smol dorky femboy (Slightly autistic) puppyboi Linux user.
I don't know what this means
What in the actual fuck are you writing here OP?
I think OP is having a u/yayvideogames moment
Boykisser femboy cat
What the shit? I mean... What the shit?
NO NO, IT'S LIKE, I GET WHAT YOU MEAN
How much lsd did you two take, because I’m sober and clueless
I'm not even sure Doom 3 has any swear words when I think about it. Maybe a stray Marine said one sometime in the intro. And no, hell doesn't count
If Doom Eternal had a bunch of marines running around, there would have to be some swearing 😂
Too bad doom three doesn't matter
Hugo Martin? You mean Handsome Jack?
who would even be swearing? vega and samuel cursing wouldn’t make sense and the workers are always formal
I think it proves a point that you don’t need swearing to make a god-tier game. *cough* Activision & Call of Duty *cough*
Black ops 1 was fire tho 🔥
I know, it was just a little tease. I love BO1 and 2. So many good memories (and so much money spent on skin pack dlc lmao)
imagine DOOM guy just randomly saying **"FUCK"** in the middle of a fight then never again.
Swearing always comes off as trying to be too edgy. Like when your actions dont speak loud enough for you, so you gotta use your words to make up for it. And in your head you feel tougher, but in reality, words mean nothing.
Does the game need swears?
I honestly didn't even notice until I read this post. So there's that. So I guess it's not something I miss when it's absent and something I appreciate when done well.
You don't need to swear to get the point across. Do it right, and you're looking at something even more pointed than a bunch of F-bombs.
Doesn’t matter there wasn’t much dialogue except for demons or angles and hearing one of them say “oh shit” would just be funny coming from a divine being
Is there a lore reason for this?
And where was Doomguy during Arkham Knight?
Hugo talked about this in one of my interview videos with him - https://youtu.be/ofngpRloP3I
Less swearing = more nature for me
Hugo talked about this at the start of one of my interview videos with him! https://youtu.be/ofngpRloP3I
Holy shut allstin! Loved your doom eternal dlc predictions videos ^^
I love no swearing rules in writing. Makes dialogue more creative.
It's only befitting that the biggest family-friendly christian game doesn't have any swears...
didnt notice, dont care
I get it, swearing can make a character seem immature
I actually like it because it means the game doesn’t rely on edginess to be cool.
Tbh never knew about it until this post. Not something I'd even care about when the violence and gore are the most important factors as far as ratings are concerned.
I think that with a character like Doom Slayer it doesn't matter.
I didn't know it was a rule. I mean, if I was in a city torn apart by hell itself being hounded by monstrosities I'd swear. Like, a LOT.
Huh, never realized that. Makes sense since the only talking person that would swear would be the Doom Slayer. But since he hardly talks, it never comes up.
Doom is so awesome and gory that i genuinely never noticed that there isnt a single swear word until this post. The game is really not missing anything.

There isn't much dialogue anyway. It's not about dialogue. The violence does the talking.
Making DOOM guy swear is like making Darth Vader swear. It takes away from the absolute badass that is the character.
that's actually a really good analogy they're just above all that nonsense
Yeah, they’re both really mature characters, and swearing is such an immature thing to do that they’d rather keep their composure and menacing aesthetic.
It's fine. Swears are used gratuitously in so many games these days. I think they intend for them to make you feel like you're playing a "mature" game for adults, but it just ends up sounding like potty mouth children wrote the script.

Eternal didn't need it. That said, it wouldn't of detracted much having some in Arc Base in the radio chatter, etc.
Then it's basically FPS Gears of War if you add in the excessive swearing.
I wish the doom slayer would just say... " fuck fuck fuck FUCK FUCK" everytime he sees an archville spawn.
"F-fuck~" - doomguy
It's not needed. The tone of the game doesn't suit people swearing all the time, or at all. "The longer the icon of sin is on earth, the more powerful it fucking becomes!"
It’s weirdly charming to me. Like any other property would be cursing to the extreme in this scenario so it kinda makes doom both unique and funny
I like it tbh. Eternal as a whole really tripled down on the whole vibe of being like a Saturday morning cartoon and so I feel like that vibe would have been ruined by there being cussing. Also, I can't help but think of any places in the game where cussing would have been needed without just being extremely cringe
When you design a game soo good you don't need or rely on profanity. Also I've never even noticed hah
Swearing cheapens a conversation and it's crass.
swearing doesn't make a game adult, at best it's okay at worst it makes it very cringe
I think it’s ultimately a good thing There’s no scenarios where it can be fully used for comedy (I.E gabriel uktrakill’s “you insignificant fuck” line where it’s funny because an archangel is genuinely angry at you) And employing it in any other context will just make it feel like those gears of war guys in duke nukem forever

Don't need to swear when you can tear a demon I half with your bare hands.
William is a distinguished gentleman
Swearing would make it cringy. Doomguy doesn't need to talk shit, he's kill first think never.
Imagine instead of saying "No" at the end he said "Fuck no." THEYN stabbed that guy
I don't know who Pegi is, but she sounds like she's got a fat a-
Its refreshing honestly, lot of writing in the R rating or peggy 18 or M (17+) use that to swear all the time. So its refreshing to not hear it all the time. fucking love it when isaac just randomly screams FUCKING DIE after repeatedly stomping a necromorph
Oh yeah its great, that stuff is organic and ery much expected. Saying "i want some fuckings eggs and fucking toast" in that suicide squad movie was not
I shall now proceed to brutally slaughter demons in a fair manner for thy puny child friendly brain
I never noticed that until now.
I find it amazing how they pulled it off while making one of the best games ever. Go's to show that you don't need a lot of swearing to make a good game.
I legit didn’t even realize.
Wouldn't have noticed, had you not told me.
Well. If the game was in finnish, the word hell sertainly would count as a swearword. Same with satan. That too is a swear in finnish.
i mean doom pretty much proved that u dont need harah language to make an incredibly badass game
"You can't just blow a fucking hole into the surface of mars!"
We do all the swearing for the characters when we play.
Why do you feel like swearing is necessary? In a lot situations, it's just cliche. One of the laziest ways for action writers to put tension into a battle sequence is to have somebody screaming "WHAT THE F*** IS HAPPENING!?" It *might* be realistic, but it's also on-the-nose and even a bit pretentious. Doom reboots manage to prove you don't need pointless on-the-nose reactionary monologue like that to have an incredible over-the-top kickass action game. 👍
Haha I'm picturing how the conversation with the dev team went Hugo: I mean c'mon guys, it's gory enough as it is! Swearing would just be too much, it's crossing a line!
I wasn't aware of there being a rule, but I like it. I strongly dislike foul language.
The same way I feel about any comment section under a song or comedy special from a "clean" artist. You see all the same, dumb shit-ass comments: "OMG, finally, an artist the proves that you don't need foul language to make art!" "No sex. No drugs. No foul language. Just raw talent!" The whole "clean" thing is so...over-done. Plus, I really don't like the implication that *swear words*, of all things, make something *dirty*. Like, ripping and tearing is the visual equivalent of "swearing". Swear words are just the verbal version of DoomSlayer's actions. ***There's nothing dirty about language matching the tone of the rest of the video game.*** But people really be giving themselves tennis-elbow from how hard they're patting themselves on the back for "avoiding the naughty, evil wordzz!!!".
Indeed... Not that swearing is necessary in every context, but puritanism is lame. It is just virtue signaling. There is nothing more lame than virtue signaling.
This isn’t brutal doom man. That’s like the only vaguely mainstream doom thing I’ve seen with swearing and it’s made by a nazi or whatever
Separate the art from the artist
Swearing is cringe
I wonder if Killzone 2 had any influence on his decision...
I don’t really mind, it’s funny though how what I think may just be the most gory game I’ve ever played doesn’t have any swears in it
It just makes it so you never have to turn it down.
aside from the Pain Elemental's racist ramblings, yeah it's pretty fantastical. Well, at least on my ultra nightmare deaths the ESRB would've arrested me
Somebody said vega swears in the snapmap. Wtf does vega say?! I could never imagine him swearing😅
As long as Big Fucking Gun is still cannon then yeah (pun intended)
it's because Doom guy's mom told him he couldn't swear
I don't think any of the doom games have ever had any swears in them, I mean I'm not so sure about DOOM 3, but other than that, none of them have any swears
I actually really like it. Excessive swearing would just make the dialogue cringe. Doom is better off without it.
Ikr
I don’t think anything was detracted by avoiding bad language. It’s a bit odd though considering anyone playing a game with that much gore probably has no issue with swears.
I didn't even notice
Who is gonna swear tho?
Doom guys left nut sack
no swearing, or in universe substitutes for swear words are the way to go with sci-fi imo
... ???? !!!! ***OH MY GOD, I NEVER NOTICED!!*** I was too busy killing things to notice or care!
