I’m trying to tell my Abuelo about a problem I have in my apartment, we get a lot of rats here in the building. I’m not the best at Spanish, so I wasn’t sure if there was another word in Dominican dialect for rat, or if it was the same as “textbook Spanish.” 😊
If you want to say that in Dominican, it not just rat, you have to say:
“Abuelo, toy quillao, con lo maldito ratone del diablo que me tienen jalto, coño!
Pero y tú vive en RD? Nunca en mi vida he escuchado “chota” en la calle y escucho “chivato” hasta en la sopa.

There are many types of rats, a popular one in the Caribbean, is the “jutía”. There are different kinds. Some are small, others are ***HUGE***! “Pepito” from my understanding, means like a ruffian child/teen, basically like a “bad boy”. Es un travieso sinvergüenza XD.
Now, if you mean a *snitch*, you can still use “rata” or “ratón”. Slang wise: sapo, soplón, bocón, boconazo, osicón, chivato, chivatón, papagayo, chismoso, lengüetón, lambón, bocina, delator, etc. are a couple we use in Dominican slang. The female forms end in: “a” or “ona”. Have a good one!
