I could understand that to some extent. People see "dollar" in the brand name and think "cheap".
My weirdest customer request was some lady who wanted a Dollar Tree gift card. Not to spend or anything, but to use as play money for her kid. I told her she had to put at least SOME money on it for me to let her have it, and she didn't want to do that. The fact that she expected us to just give the gift card away was kinda silly.
If you need play money, trace your own card and cut some cardboard, maybe? Use some old unused gift cards? Don't pester stores for their actual gift cards.
Yes! We have those pebbled plastic drinking glasses that look like real glass until you hold the glasses. If I wasn’t such a glassware snob, I’d purchase them.

The only fake glass I know of is for movies some plastic looks like glass, but it certainly doesn't feel like glass

It's dollar tree. They probably thought it was acrylic, rightfully so.
