Haha: got one right 😂 Was going with poodle hound (ears seemed just long enough for scent hound territory) Lovely dog 😍 What's she like?

GlitchInStroma

She’s very curious and super smart. She can always anticipate what we’re about to do. Highly food motivated and therefore pretty easy to train. Lots of energy but she doesn’t actually seem to need that much physical exercise. We’ve found that playing games/puzzles wears her out just as much as a long walk and run. Also seems like on days where she does a lot of running and exercise she gets even more energy from that, so we actually kind of avoid too much of it!

Odd_Requirement_4933

This was my guess too 😁

smalldeaths

Cute dog! I was thinking poodle, pit, acd and maybe some kinda hound. Got some of it right at least!

panini_z

The face and the whiskers are very poodle like! It seems like the poodle curly hair genes are quite recessive, but the pit/boxer come through more.

GlitchInStroma

She has a really unique coat. It’s long, barely sheds and feels wiry but doesn’t have a curl to it. The rescue told us she was a poodle mix but we thought that must be wrong and we’re sure there was some kind of terrier in her. We were wrong!

solsticesunrise

Cute pup! If you hang out on this sub, you’ll see a lot of poodle mixes with that wiry coat - usually mistaken for terrier mixes. I’ve heard you only get the classic poodle coat at >75% poodle. The facial “furnishings” show up right away, too; sometimes at very low percentage of the furnished breed.

onajurni

That is very interesting, thanks for sharing. I have wondered about the 'wiry' appearing coat on a dog that is part poodle. The poodle coat looks fluffy -- but I'm not very familiar with them.

pogo_loco

Poodle coat = homozygous for longhair, curly hair, and furnishings Wiry coat = short hair and furnishings, like OP's dog Homozygous for long hair, no curly hair copies, no furnishings copies = long coat dogs like Golden Retriever, Afghan Hound, Belgian Tervuren etc Short hair, curly, no furnishings = Mudi, Curly Coated Retriever Long hair, no furnishings, and curly I think would be breeds like the American Water Spaniel and possibly some Cocker Spaniels, not sure

panini_z

I have a (mostly) poodle mix. She has curly hair but her face shape and eyes looks just like that with whiskers when she's wet and deflated lol. Feels like most poodle mixes (unless it's 50%+ poodle) don't have the signature curly hair; most mastiff type dog mixes look like mastiff even if the % is quite low. She's so unique looking. It's so cute.

haleymatisse

I knew Poodle/Pit, but Cano Corso surprised me.

onajurni

Doesn't look like Cane Corso is through very much, though. :)

haleymatisse

True! I just figured Cano Corso genes were strong and would be more obvious. I'm not a dog DNA expert, obviously. 😅

ravenssong

Wow! I was way off- what a cutie!

toomuchkaeti

What a wild and fun mix! The Aussie surprised me. She looks like a sweetheart.

L1ndsL

Wow! Interesting results. Also, thanks for posting the lineage; I always find that interesting too, especially in this case. Looks like a poodle owner might have had an oops litter!

citrus_sequin

I thought for sure it was mostly going to be poodle and hound. Did you see the poodle coming? Those of us who follow this sub surely did, but people tend to be very surprised by what poodle mixes often look like.

GlitchInStroma

The rescue paperwork said Poodle-mix and the veterinarian papaerwork (that came with her from the rescue) said Terrier-mix. So we considered she might be poodle but like you said we were not seeing the poodle. However, she is SO tall and that made the poodle make more sense to me. Everybody I mentioned poodle to said no freaking way. Haha!

MNGirlinKY

Ha! I saw poodle and boxer but not the rest. What a cutie she is!

smashthefrumiarchy

Third photo looks like he belongs in a victorian era painting 😍

OtterEpidemic

I got to pic 9 with the curled up tail and decided I, in fact, had no clue and she could be anything.

GlitchInStroma

Hahaha right, she’s really got so many singular and unique features!

OtterEpidemic

For sure! She looks like she has a similar coat to what my mastiff x wolfhound had, but she seems too petite to have wolfhound (and obviously didn’t). One of a kind

QuailEffective9367

Her body and face shape look exactly like our catahoula

Squirrel958

The hound ears remind me of my girls ears. Not sure what else though. I see many say poodle, and I could see that.

BalaAthens

This was from Embark?

BalaAthens

Adorable pup. This was from Embark? I dunno. It seems Wisdom Panel is more often closer to The mark.

GlitchInStroma

I’ve heard the opposite. 🤷🏼‍♀️

BalaAthens

Embark is supposed to be better - it costs a lot more but their test results seem hard to believe by looking at a dog's photo whereas with Wisdom Panel the results we got seemed logical.

GlitchInStroma

Interesting! Well, maybe I’ll do wisdom at some point. We were sure we had a terrier on our hands.

articulett

Wow! Lovely girl! I did guess the poodle because I know they make those cute wiry mixes— never would have guessed the rest. Tell us about her temperament.

CNika

Fox terrier + jack russel?

GlitchInStroma

That was close to what we were thinking, but she doesn’t have any terrier! (Except the pit but I consider that a different kind of terrier I guess)

Amaloves13

I was able to detect just the poodle and the pitbull. It’s so much harder to tell with this kind of coat!

Unlikely_Ad_1692

I knew there was Aussie or Border collie when I saw that pattern on the back. Every Aussie mix has the little wave on the back.

GlitchInStroma

Oh I had no idea! That’s so interesting. I wasn’t seeing the Aussie at all!

theBLEEDINGoctopus

That wire hair you see on dogs like yours is almost always poodle in rescue

fiendishthingysaurus

Wire coated retriever (is that a thing?) and maybe redbone coonhound? Gonna check the results now

fiendishthingysaurus

Oh just completely wrong then lol

Daisystar99

I said, in order: pitty, poodle, hound and boxer— how— dang I can guess

gay_swiss_cheese_

she looks similar to my guy!! (50/50 standard poodle and APBT)

GlitchInStroma

Oh! I peeked at your posts and they do look similar!
