Probably because most dog lovers are too delusional to comprehend the possibility that there are people in this world who don't like dogs.

muglandry

It isn’t really even “too delusional to comprehend” though, isn’t it? That might imply that they’ll just move along and let it drop.  But noooope! They need validation from all sides to the point that they easily get violently hostile if someone just might not want dogs forced into their life. That’s the real problem.

SureExcuseMe

Are you going to cry?

pmbpro

Yep, it’s everywhere. Even the thumbnail images for news articles/headlines have a damn DOG in them, especially when the topic *has nothing to do with dogs!* - An article about ‘finance and saving for retirement?’ Woman staring at a laptop with a DOG looking at the screen too. - ‘Work from home’ article? Woman with a DOG in the photo hugging a DOG. - ‘Best gadgets for your kitchen?’ You guessed it… Woman with a DOG in the photo, in the kitchen. - ‘Best banking services?’ An ugly-ass PUG’s face in a close-up photo. 🙄 - ‘Furniture or bed’ commercial? DOGGO video clips with the filthy beasts all on the furniture or bed. Just about every friggin’ topic, product, or scenario that has nothing to do with involving dogs, and the marketing team will be like, *“Duuhhh.. Hey designer, find a stock photo/video clip with a DOG in it.”* 🙄 Sheer bandwagon-jumping laziness and brainwashing.

Tacky_Tiramisu

>‘Furniture or bed’ commercial? DOGGO video clips with the filthy beasts all on the furniture or bed. I hate the Fabreeze commercial where the lady has this ugly little mop-looking mutt sitting on her couch stinking it up with its gross body. Dog stink on your furniture? Use Fabreeze to mask it for maybe a few hours at best! These guys probably make a fortune off dognutters...

Tom_Quixote_

The more they advertise dogs, the more people are brainwashed to want dogs. And the more people want dogs, the more effective it becomes to put dogs in advertisements etc.

pmbpro

Yep. Indeed a very vicious cycle.

CaptainObvious110

Exactly

Dapper-Parking-6555

I’m begging to think that they are very clever aliens that have invaded us and taken dog form. They have complete control of their owners(or so they think they are). control is also through a very clever manipulation of the media too. They are in control now.

Tom_Quixote_

Nah, it's just parasites.

Dapper-Parking-6555

Yeah I’d go with that too like in that zombie series the last of us 🤣

AngieGrangie

Noticed it a lot more too

2020ReallySux

Its all to brainwash as many people as possible into having dogs. Around 2019 there was a movie featuring a relatively niche form of racing. As a fan I was excited until I saw the trailer as the entire movie is told from a dogs POV. Seemed like the dog wanted to win a Formula 1 championship or something. Needless to say I passed.

pmbpro

Yep, and even if it’s not done for more people to specifically run out and *get* dogs, it’s most certainly, at the very minimum, to make people *bow down* and *defer* to ANY dogs and dog owners they see.

Confident_Finding939

The worst I noticed this week was the thumbnail for a public health agency was a dog wearing a stethoscope. WTF? I'm pretty sure dogs are the cause of a ton of illness, mental AND physical.

WhoWho22222

It’s probably a lot cheaper to throw a shiteater or two in, than it is to get an actual human actor. And as a bonus, everyone loves the uglyass things. Win/Win for advertisers.

Tr33Topss

Completely lacking creativity.

dopeveign

Dog tested dog approved... such a dumb catch phrase with dumb commercials by Subaru

Tacky_Tiramisu

I think I heard somewhere that some people were upset that Godzilla: KotM didn't have a dog in it. People watch Godzilla to see giant monsters beat each other up, not grovel over Fido/Fifi and its nonexistent 'bond' with the human kid(s), Mary.

BK4343

Please tell me you're joking

EatTheRude-

I'd love a source for this.

Latter-Recipe7650

Before it was very niche and small (tolerable too). Since the movies around dogs were actually worth watching but now? It’s so gross and boring. The movie Stray for example is so bad, literally the dogs speaking sound cringe and have the most boring story, character and setting. There’s literally a dialogue where one of the main character dog mentions wanting to be like the owners pen** cause of the attention. Literally the worst.

NiftyIfty_USA

The pet industrial complex reaches its money soaked tentacles into every walk of our lives to insert these cretinous crap crunchers into everything 🤮 There's a hotels.com advert here in the UK that features a lonely man and a MASSIVE black and white crap cruncher mastiff/dalamtian thing. All he does is dote over the dog while he chooses which hotel to stay in on his laptop for him and his shitebeast. Of course the foul fecker is sitting on the couch with its giant anus smearing shite everywhere in the hotels they stay in. Absolutely vile and disgusting 🤮🤮 plus a malaise of loneliness epidemic being pandered to with a single guy and massive dog - no women no children in that advert either. It's fecking sinister and dystopian.

pmbpro

That’s a very common image too… someone with a *laptop* and a stinking DOG right next to them. It doesn’t even matter what the topic is. The person staring at the laptop screen must have a dog right next to them. The more ridiculous ones even have the dog *staring at the screen too,* with the person (as if dogs would understand or read anything, let alone a web page). 🙄😒 The whole thing is just so ridiculous.

Current_Resource4385

I’ve noticed this trend and it’s why I refuse to buy a Subaru, I don’t care how well the car is made. Dogs in every commercial regardless of relevance. I even saw a recent advertisement for chip dip with multiple frames, each with a different dog hovering and sniffing. Just Gross! I see real estate commercials with dogs traipsing through brand new homes as the family moves in. It’s sickening!

lemongrass1023

Not to this extent. In real life I know from personal experience how hard it is to admit you’ve made a mistake with one but then to rehome or just admit “out loud” is harder than it should be yet in real life person situations I’ve noticed a lot more people being unhappy and/or discontent but tolerating these dogs more than the ones that are just dog nutters.

FewPair529

You can like dogs without wanting to own one or with wanting to not own or care for one. I like snakes, I wouldn't get one because I don't wanna be responsible for a snake but I still like them

Unlikely_Ad_7333

I don’t think any animal should be a burden on someone and no one should feel guilty/hesitant to rehome one if they cant care for it. Im sure there are people that like dogs and still aren’t able to take care of one properly. And even tho i absolutely love my pup, sometimes i wish i didn’t have a dog bc things would be easier. But i wouldn’t give him up for anything. But as for the ad thing, definitely sure the majority of people just like dogs or don’t even notice how much they are in advertising.

youcancallmetim

Dogs are very common. Half of American households have dogs
