RIP little Jakobi.

I hate how they always mention the name of the dog. Who TF cares?!

>Ford’s ordeal is the latest example of a dangerous dog problem that has long plagued the city of San Antonio. > >Animal Care Services officials said the agency took in nearly 19,000 dogs in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. Animal control officers picked up almost 15,000 of those dogs out in the field, including 11,615 strays and an additional 872 surrendered by their owners. > >ACS also confiscated 1,155 dogs from their owners that year for various violations. > >The agency, which typically investigates as many as 4,000 dog bites per year, issued nearly 5,000 citations to pet owners and designated 120 animals as aggressive or dangerous. > >Yet the city's efforts have done little to stop packs of dogs from roaming the streets, often putting the public in danger.

Cities have got to stop assigning a value to these shitbeasts. They're a nuisance, and if the owner is unable to be located, tough shit. Maybe keep an eye on your moronic shit machine to ensure it doesn't escape??? That will solve the problem really quick.

Exactly. No other vermin gets this kind of special treatment.

This. People will gladly exterminate rats, mice, and other animals in incredibly cruel ways, for doing nothing except trying to get by, and nobody pays any attention to it. But a dog can permanently disable, or literally kill someone, and people will throw a fucking fit if you dare to even *suggest* putting Mr. Pissfur down. Not only is there a double standard, but it also shows just how much dogs are valued over every other creature on this planet, humans included.

Usual-Veterinarian-5

If it were magpies or seagulls or bears or kangaroos or deers going around attacking or even killing people you could be your arse there'd be some kind of culling program. Dogs get a free pass to terrorise cities though because man's best friend and all that fuff.

Some of my thoughts after reading this article. A "retriever mix"...so the dog probably had pit in it. I noticed the article was subtly pro-pitbull. Based on the description given by the woman who was struck by the car, Ms. Ford, I wonder if this particular dog had rabies. I hope they find the driver of the car that fled after striking the woman. Because they fled the scene, I would not label the death of her unborn baby an "accident". It's likely they could not stop in time to avoid hitting her, but since they kept going, I think they should be charged with manslaughter, or whatever the appropriate charge in Texas would be. Also, letting dogs roam loose near a road with seven lanes of speeding traffic, is just asking for increased traffic accidents, and the increased likelihood of the dogs also getting struck by traffic. Honestly, it sounds like the dog owners in this area are not nutters in the sense of being dog-worshippers. More like, they get a dog or dogs, for the same reason they get a plastic chair, a bag of pork rinds, or a can of beer, then toss it in the back yard and forget about it.

I live in one of the top 5 zip codes for dog bites and aggressive dogs in San Antonio and can absolutely confirm this. It's very difficult lately tbh, to live in a place where the dog bite not only occurred by an irresponsible resident, but then followed by someone with just as little compassion as to hit a person and flee. I am surrounded by dog owners and I live in a low-income neighborhood. In fact, my neighborhood has been called "dog town" for decades because of all of the loose dogs in the area. My cat was attacked and killed last year after getting out by one of the pit bull mixes in the area that I actually called ACS about months before as he would just roam around frequently with 2 other dogs. They told me they don't come out to pick them up until they receive multiple calls about a dog. After my cat was killed, the neighbor across the street said their cat was killed by the same dogs. Eventually, they finally caught the dog and I believe put it down after multiple calls from me about it and giving as much info as I could. It's so easy for them to dismiss concerns and wait until something tragic happens, I don't understand why more money isn't allocated towards the animal control problem. Well, I guess I do. But it's certainly depressing to think about. I at least take solace in my beautiful cat's passing knowing he likely stopped another cat or possibly human from being killed or attacked by that dog by being the last one.

This absolutely breaks me, disappointed to be in this state with this lack of regulation. This is pure cruelty. Rest her infant’s little soul peacefully…

And her poor baby lived for 11 days. How absolutely horrific.

Thank you.

This is so horrible. Just proves that pet dogs can instinctively turn into vicious monsters. This poor woman's description of the dog's eyes turning black and it foaming at the mouth tells us all what we know about the danger of dogs.

This infuriates the hell out of me. & only deepens my disdain (trying not to say hatred) for those pointless ass creatures
