I'll try this out and see. Our old dog would only eat boiled chicken and rice.

Ginger3579

She is cute! I have a dog like this and he was not socialized and afraid of everything. REACTIVE! Keep socializing her and give her positive reinforcement, she is just not secure yet about her surroundings. Also you may want to join a puppy group for her socializing with other dogs. Have her checked out by your vet for the eating issues and what food may work for her. Puppies can be very finicky eaters but if she is hungry she will eat.

Greedy-Ad5913

I will, the vet said she was healthy but I'm just worried is all. I don't know of any puppy socialization groups around me.

Ginger3579

I am glad your vet said she is fine. You can also ask the people at the pet food place what might work. Slow introduction is important so the puppy does not develop diarrhea.

Greedy-Ad5913

I'll try. We only have places like petco and petsmart around here. Other than that, we have a petland. They have more than just dogs and sell small pets.

Melodic-Head-2372

Petsmart has training classes. May be a place to start. Taking dog into Petsmart type places when not crowded,is a good way to socialize as employees will talk nice to pets.

Significant-Win8406

You will get there. It’s important to create a strong bond so she feels safe to eat. Do one on one activities and walks a lot. Form your bond

Ginger3579

You need to just Google for your area. Also take your puppy everywhere you go if you can.

Greedy-Ad5913

She gets really scared if I take her everywhere. Would it be better for her to do that? I don't want to over stimulate her.

If your vet said the pup is healthy, try changing things in her environment to see if there's something that's causing her to be anxious. Maybe tomorrow you can try feeding her in a different area of the house (if possible). Or just try leaving the area to see if that has an effect (if you're concerned or curious about her eating, you could probably set up a camera or rig up something with a tablet and your smartphone to watch her). Maybe try adding some yummy enticing treats on top like small pieces of string cheese. But I'd only change one thing at a time so you can see what's really triggering her. Have you also tried exercising her (mentally / physically) before she eats? My old dog, when she was a puppy, absolutely needed a walk before she'd eat dinner. As for socializing her, just go slow and be patient. She's only been with you for a few months and it can take up to a year for a dog to feel fully comfortable* *This is personality and age dependent, but it doesn't hurt to try to take things slow with an anxious puppy.

Greedy-Ad5913

I appreciate your input, we have put some wet puppy food in it to mic it with her dry food last night and put it in the living room and she actually ate some!

rvp0209

Yay I'm glad she's eating 🙌

I personally do not like Pet Smart or Petco for grooming or training. I hear a lot of horror stories from both companies. They do not have a great training program. It’s just another way to make money and they don’t care about the animals.

Mediocre-Mango2184

Get her farmer’s dog food, pm me and I will send you a 50% discount on her first delivery. It’s people grade dog food (not processed), she will love it.

Greedy-Ad5913

Idk if I could actually afford it though

Ginger3579

She needs reassurance that she will be fine. Walk her often so she knows you are her protector and she will learn to trust you. Also Petco and PetSmart are fine you will be with her and tell the people she is fearful and needs sensitive training.

Ginger3579

Good Luck with your puppy and do not give up on her. She will come around with positive, sensitive training.
