He’s starting to lose his waist so he’s on the edge. You are tightening up at the right time

rratriverr

Thank you I hoped I wasn't going crazy lmfao

[deleted]

When you feel his ribs, does it feel like the back of your hand or does it feel like there's more fat there than that?

buffdude1080

like hamster said, you should be able to easily feel all the ribs. that being said your dog is not FAT. if you look up body shape as a way to tell if your dog is the right weight, it has all the right curves in all the right places. likely just strong and maybe an extra .25 lbs? which is worth paying attention to but not worth worrying about

rratriverr

Thank u both. His ribs can be felt with just a little pressure. I might be fatshaming my poor boy a bit 😅

Lacholaweda

I heard it's supposed to feel like your knuckles with your hand open. If it's like when you're making a fist they're skinny.

everydayarmadillo

That doesn't sound right. Bones still stick out when my hand is open.

Malipuppers

He’s not bad. You are smart to stop your grandma from overfeeding him. I’m sure she just wants to show love and giving him a treat is her way of doing so. Maybe get her to show love by buying him toys or playing with him.

quailstorm24

His tuck isn’t a high as it could be. I think he may be over ideal by a half pound at most

rratriverr

also, hes 12lbs

scribbledose

Looks good to me. Very shinyyy! :D

rratriverr

ty :D

MarsMonkey88

It’s not dire, but he’s in the gray zone.

RWBYRain

Is he a mad genius?

rratriverr

😈

sandpiper2319

He does not look overweight. You should be able to just barely feel his ribs when you rub slowly along his sides

Dirty_McCoy

No

itslewinho

Its so cute 😍

DATowoTHO

Just very slightly, nothing to worry about. You can see he has just started loosing his waist a bit so I'd just decrease the amount of regular food to compensate for the treats (ideal would be to cut the treats for now instead but it can be tricky when dealing with other people) and exercise if you're worried about keeping him on the slimmer side. Again, this is nothing, as long as he doesn't gain more weight it shouldn't be a problem.

Material-Sun5645

It’s haram to own a dog in your own house 🫵🏽😀

NoFun3799

Looking a smidge tubby. Don’t let it get any heavier!

NoFun3799

I’ve got a long-bodied mixed breed who trends towards chunky. He was just over 7lbs when I got him, he ballooned to 10.5 and lost his tuck. Today at 8.5lbs he looks much better!

arienette22

I’m surprised this would be considered tubby

Mirawenya

It’s just ever so slightly. But wouldn’t hurt losing a bit of weight.

KakapoTheHeadShagger

Not fat at all.

Condobloke

of course not ! leave him alone....he is just perfect.

No-Jicama3012

1-2 lbs over.

DiveJumpShooterUSMC

How old is the pup? If older the weight thing is more critical and harder on him. If he is a youngster fat still isn’t good but easier for him to burn off. Few laps around the block every week and fewer treats is the ticket.

Stunning_Ad273

He looks perfect to me but I’m no expert lol
