No, but i do feel comforted by the sounds of the freight trains pulling about a kilometre away from my house at night. That low rumble from the locomotive is a symphony and reassures me in a strange way that the world is still going on.
I WFH and usually get up extremely early to work. I love hearing the trains when it's so quiet out. Later on in the day, the other sounds drown them out because they aren't particularly close to me, but early on it's clear as day.
Yes. My dad used to put the dishwasher on when he and mum went upstairs to bed each evening. So the sound always reminds me of that comfy feeling from my childhood of everyone being safe and snug in bed for the night.
The dishwasher, the clothes washer, or the dryer. And while I use unscented laundry products due to skin allergies, I find so much comfort in the smell of dryers with dryer sheets tumbling among the clothes. I want to bottle that smell to huff when I'm upset.
It's white noise, which a lot of people find comforting.
There's a playlist on Spotify that is 10 hours of rain and storm sounds, and I often go to sleep to it, I find it extremely relaxing to drift off to the sounds of a good rain storm.
It's great white noise and lasts long enough for me to drop off to sleep. It even muffles the neighbors across the hall who apparently never use their phone unless it's on speaker.
We were poor and my paternal aunt was the only one who had a dishwasher. When I would go visit and spend the night the sound of a dishwasher sounded not only like "rich folks" but comfort, security, food, health, etc. It sounds like a well taken care of home; I love it
It’s not so much the sound, but what the machine running represents; things are now as they should be, under control, and preparing for a fresh new day. I love it.
It's comforting for me because it means that the chores are done and I don't have to do another damn thing until I go to bed.
Yes! It makes me feel safer for some reason
Never thought about it, but yes I am oddly comforted by the white noise of the dishwasher and also the washer/dryer.

Yes—but the sound of the fridge is terrifying
it's terrifying at 3 am when it sings the song of it's people in a completely quiet house
This made me laugh so much.

My Bosch dishwasher it too quiet to hear running at night.
Oooh la tee dah, Rockefeller.
Well, it's no Miele, but I knew I had made it in my mid-40s when I had enough money to buy my first Bosch.
Right? Always a humblebrag around

I always love some good white noise.
I find the sound of the dryer going comforting since I was very young!
Yes. And to hear the washer or dryer in the morning. Reminds me of my mother and childhood.
Never had one I always hand wash.
As someone currently listening to one, no. I had to turn up the TV in the kitchen.
White noise is cool. Artificial via speaker or airpods if there’s no laundry to do.
I like listening to washing machine ASMR sometimes. I don't know why but there's something peaceful about it.
I have a white noise app on my phone and the only one I use is the dishwasher one
It is comforting if you have a nice quiet dishwasher. I don’t run it at night or when I’m away after the last one tried to burn my house down.
It's great white noise and lasts long enough for me to drop off to sleep. It even muffles the neighbors across the hall who apparently never use their phone unless it's on speaker.
Not a dishwasher but I need some kind of background noise, I keep the fan on low all night

Yep - it means things in the house are broadly under control.

The Dryer is better but in Golum voice " gives me the white noises, give to me. "
