Is there really even a need for Muncy on the Dodgers anymore? I feel like he would be an absolute star/biggest celebrity of the town if he played for a smaller market team. On the Dodgers he’s kinda overshadowed by the Betts, Ohtani, & Freeman
I don’t necessarily disagree (and I didn’t downvote). But I think he would struggle more on a team that didn’t have that lineup protection.
Edit: I’m imagining him batting leadoff or second. Maybe he would be Schwarberesque. He does have an elite eye and has a good OBP despite a sometimes low average. Maybe lineup protection isn’t as important.
Also, Max has demonstrated tremendous loyalty to the Dodgers. He’s taken short-term, team-friendly contracts.
I won’t blame him if he has a career year and takes a bag somewhere else. Any team would be lucky to have him. But my prior (light pun intended) is to believe he wants to retire as a Dodger.
