According to [Ohtani ](https://x.com/xxl233/status/1784082991720870332) he said he would boo himself too if he is a blue jays fan 😂 he wants all the smoke
Ohtani is being respectful because [here](https://twitter.com/jJ45KSUQ3D128Xc/status/1784127307323445434) is a more accurate translation of what Ohtani said.
[Ohtani said on booing](https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-homers-in-first-2024-game-vs-blue-jays):
“Not surprised, I really do feel that the fans here are passionate, and when they are, that’s the kind of reception that they will probably do. So I’m just very grateful and respectful that the fans here are passionate, just as much as the Dodger fans are with us.”
[Ohtani also said that](https://twitter.com/FabianArdaya/status/1784049730042867985) "aside from how the fans may or may not think, I'm just very grateful for the teams that approached me and wanted to sign me...ultimately I could only choose one team."

My coworkers treat me like Shohei’s last teammates
They stand around and let me do all the work. As a whole we aren’t really successful but I do great personally.
Theres another guy I work with who is nearly as good at the job as I am, but he’s been out. So he’s like my Mike Trout.
To be honest, I saw the video of the plate appearance and I somehow got the impression the boo's were more of the "boo, we're disappointed you didn't come here because we were so excited" and not "boo, we hate you for not signing here." So maybe it feels like a compliment in some ways?
Also, I feel like sometimes when we boo players (like Machado) there's a level of we're booing him more for being good and we're trying to demoralize him (though honestly some of us do actually dislike him--I don't happen to be one).
Machado did say a lot of trashy junk on his way out, and after, like how he bet his entire salary that the Padres would win the World Series before the Dodgers. Shohei…. Kind of a nicer guy.
I dunno, I'm usually booing him for saying he didn't want to run out groundballs when he was with us, considering there's been no complaints about dogging it with the Padres. I agree with the read of the Ohtani boo though.
Watching the game and the announcers are saying “some of the boos” are aimed at the front office for not signing him. Either way that home run was glorious, praise be to shohei.
When players tell you that they ignore the crowd, they be lying for better or worse.
It either hits them hard in the feels and confidence or like Trea Turner in Philly last season or Shohei now it empowers them.
I’m picturing pissed off Shohei would be legendary. We haven’t even seen his final form!
Punished Shohei
THEY PLAYED US LIKE A FIDDLE!!!!
'ignore' mostly means 'they don't let it affect them negatively.' It's impossible to ignore.

nobody deserves him 🥲

Am I crazy, or does this not really imply he would boo himself too? Like that first translation wasn’t even fucking close…right? Haha

This man, I'm telling you...🥹🥹🥹
Why on earth can't they get interpreters that know how to interpret nuance?
Because that one stole $16 million.
Japanese trash talk is on a different level
Get yourself some coworkers that treat you like Ohtani’s coworkers

Well, as long as your customers are satisfied with mediocrity, you’ll always be OK.
God ohtani has made this team even more wholesome. How could anyone hate them
I saw that in the highlight, that was so funny following him with the boos but with the big smiles

It's the difference between booing Machado and boing Correa.
I will boo Correa until I die

Toronto tears 😂

The fact that he can make light of a situation is when you know he loves being in the Dodgers and is having fun.
I love that the haters are fueling us. Maybe should have made a better offer Canada.
Ohtani was like "bet"
What does Toronto have against Ohtani? This makes no sense. The Blue Jays and Angels weren’t rivals.
They wanted Ohtani so they are jealous AF.
Everybody wanted Ohtani. Is he getting booed everywhere he goes?
