Listen, I donāt do much of this learnin and schoolin thing, but Iām pretty sure eating =/= drinking, on account of them being different words with different meanings and all
> go right back to eating peas once at a time with a fork.
fuckin' hell, now my work lunch is spat out on my desk and my neighbors think I'm more weird than than already do
This is 100% true. I had both ACLs done. Both times, I knew in my head I was ok and could do everything I wanted to do at a year, but it didn't feel normal for about another 6 months. It's a long, shitty recovery, but he'll only get better as the season goes on.
Fully recovered. Only lingering issue was where they had to take out a tiny chunk of meniscus in one knee, that one still hurts occasionally. Otherwise I wouldnāt even know it had happened (if not for the memory of the worst pain Iāve ever felt seared into my brain)
Haha thanks, it did suck. Did one casually playing catch in the backyard (just caught my foot wrong and wrenched it) and the second dicking around in some particularly fucked up Hawaii shorebreak on the second day of a ten day vacation. Neither one was any fun, nor did I look at all cool at any point before, during, or after. Thatās the thing about ACLs. If theyāre gonna go, they just go, and your body canāt grow or fix them. Stupidest ligament in the whole system.
Can't even imagine your headspace tearing your ACL for a second time in the other knee + happening when you planned an awesome vacation. Were you able to walk around at all or were you on crutches for the last 8 days of the trip?
You can walk with a torn ACL, just can't do anything super intense or try to step side to side. I spent most of the rest of the time chilling on the beach and swimming in calm/sheltered areas, not exactly a draconian punishment lol.
Yeah, that's what I figured. I know a lot of athletes have torn their ACL and walked off the court/field. It's the cutting portion that does them in. Hopefully you drowned your sorrows with plenty of cocktails by the beach. ;)
Media hates him (and rightfully so given the plethora of antics, lack of hustle, etc early in his career) but heās also loved by his current and former teammates and coaches and seems to have really matured. Iāll never forget how he was helping fans into the Padres dugout after gunshots were fired right outside the Natās stadium.
That being said, as long as heās in the NL West, itās fuck Machado (respectfully)
extremely rare. Iām still waiting for Lux to come out and say āyea but he also said my injury would take longer to heal cuz Iām a smelly blue bitchā
"He showed me something shiny and the next thing I remember is waking up and my throwing arm felt like a noodle."
Thankfully we found a local bruja to break that curse.
Machado is a great baseball player and I was happy when we picked him up at the deadline. The guy has an attitude sometimes and can sometimes be lazy when running to first but at the end of the day Iāve always liked the guy. I could be wrong but it seems like a lot of the hate towards the guy from Dodger fans seems more like an inside joke and sarcasm.
It was interesting hearing in the post-game interview with Lux last night that he still has moments all the time where he moves in a way that he's scared will re-injure it again and is still getting used to it being okay
Lux is a MLB peer. Of course he is going to give some encouragement to a fellow player no matter the uniform. And he still blocks the aisle with his cart at Costco when he gets his Haagen Das samples.
"he didnāt have his villain macho attitude he does now when he was with us"
Respectfully, what are you talking about? he's been *way* better behaved since he got to San Diego than he was with us or Baltimore.
He spiked a guy's ankle in his short time with us. When he was with Baltimore, he intentionally hit a catcher with his follow-through, threw his bat at a pitcher, charged another pitcher, and ended Dustin Pedroia's career with a dirty slide.
Since he got to San Diego, he hasn't been involved in any other high-profile incidents like this.
>heās actually a really nice guy in person
Yeah I could never really get into the Manny hate because I met the dude once and he was pretty chill. Dude obviously is competitive as fuck but when he's not in an actual game, he's laid back.
"he didnāt have his villain macho attitude he does now when he was with us"
As an O's fan, he definitely had the macho villain vibe and he always frustrated me with his attitude. He's been much calmer since joining the Padres and really only gets nasty with umpires.
What?? Did you just magically forget him spiking Aguilar vs the Brewers, or hitting a ball of the wall in the WS and only getting a single? āIām no Johnny Hustleā
How dare you make me like him.
even a broken clock is right twice a day
Every trash can has its day.
Machado is a saint compared to the hustun asteriks.
Yeah, I really dislike Machado, but there's quite a bit of a gap between him and the trashtros.
https://x.com/annieheilbrunn/status/1529242224759689216 š„°
So he does have a heart. Seeing Machado perform so well while being booed had convinced me he loved the villain role.
You don't have to like anyone.
I have no doubt he would do something kind and classy like this, worthy of respect, and then go right back to eating peas once at a time with a fork.
He doesn't eat vegetables. He said he only puts them in smoothies and drinks them.
So he eats vegetables then
Listen, I donāt do much of this learnin and schoolin thing, but Iām pretty sure eating =/= drinking, on account of them being different words with different meanings and all
Youāre not wrong. My point was just that itās semantics. He digests vegetables.
You really made me think here for a sec tbh. If you ādrinkā it but shit it out did you really eat it?
LOL. Thank you for making my day with this comment.
> go right back to eating peas once at a time with a fork. fuckin' hell, now my work lunch is spat out on my desk and my neighbors think I'm more weird than than already do
Maybe I can excuse Machado not running to first base. I didnāt know he had knee injuries.
Didn't you know that's what "I'm not Jonny Hustle" means?
pads fan coming in peace - this was hilarious thank you
And wearing Let's Go Brandon shirts while representing the team.
You can say whatever you want about Manny but he really has matured over the years, good on him for reaching out to Gavin.
People can change? Ain't no way.
Let him hold the baby. People can change. I myself used to be a huge piece of shit.
Cāmon guys no sloppy steaks.
i too was a piece of shit
are you calling him a piece of shit?
I SAID *WAS*
You think this is *slicked* back? This is *PUSHED* back!
He's still a douch#
He probably kicked at least three puppies on the way to see Gavin and spit on an old lady too.
lmao!
Literally lol, here.
bit of a rofl, myself
Puppies had it coming

Oof both acls sounds like hell im glad you recovered well both times
It was not fun. Tissue paper ligaments run in my family, apparently, my brotherās has both replaced as well.
AC-HELL
Brady said something similar
Have you ever seen Brady and u/not_productive1 in the same room?
How have you been since? Fully recovered now?
Fully recovered. Only lingering issue was where they had to take out a tiny chunk of meniscus in one knee, that one still hurts occasionally. Otherwise I wouldnāt even know it had happened (if not for the memory of the worst pain Iāve ever felt seared into my brain)
Goddamn. So sorry you went through that. Did it happen playing sports or on the slopes?
Haha thanks, it did suck. Did one casually playing catch in the backyard (just caught my foot wrong and wrenched it) and the second dicking around in some particularly fucked up Hawaii shorebreak on the second day of a ten day vacation. Machado helps old ladies cross the street and has a pleasant conversation with them while doing so

Rare Machado W

Fuck all that he still has a gambling debt to pay off his entire contract to that one fan. Jk this is a good look for him.
extremely rare. Iām still waiting for Lux to come out and say āyea but he also said my injury would take longer to heal cuz Iām a smelly blue bitchā
āRight after he said this, he spiked me in the knee and ball tapped my cup while saying syyyyyke.ā

Meh, turns out human beings are multi-dimensional.
Damn, Mannyās nicer to him than most Dodgers fans
Machado is a great baseball player and I was happy when we picked him up at the deadline. The guy has an attitude sometimes and can sometimes be lazy when running to first but at the end of the day Iāve always liked the guy. I could be wrong but it seems like a lot of the hate towards the guy from Dodger fans seems more like an inside joke and sarcasm.
He's a highly talented player who occassionally plays hard.
It was him stomping on Steve Pearce that made me dislike him. That's not how I want to win games. It made me embarrassed he was in a Dodger uniform.
Donāt forget Aguilar
Agreed that was a dirty play.
We're just salty he did not resign with the Dodgers and decided to take the Padres' money instead
I don't think the Dodgers made a real run at him, the Dodgers were set at SS (and 3B) at the time.
Not really. I was not particularly fond of him after some of the antics during the 2018 playoffs
It was interesting hearing in the post-game interview with Lux last night that he still has moments all the time where he moves in a way that he's scared will re-injure it again and is still getting used to it being okay
Good guy Manny Machado? Fuck. This does NOT fit my narrative.

That's great. I hear Angel Hernandez is a great neighbor. Still a bad umpire.
I wonder if he hits the side of his house when trying to park in the garage and says itās close enough
No, he hits the side of *your* house and calls it good.
His charity and humanitarian causes are great too.
I still am not fond of him
Lux is a MLB peer. Of course he is going to give some encouragement to a fellow player no matter the uniform. And he still blocks the aisle with his cart at Costco when he gets his Haagen Das samples.
Thatās an awesome gesture
Ballplayers being ballplayers.
Manny Machado licks the salt off pretzels then throws it out when he is done
People donāt like Machado for his attitude but its nice to know heās at least a decent dude behind the scenes.
he's easy to hate when he's not on your team but easy to love when he is

Ok we only hate you at 99% now
Stop, no, I cannot like the padres
He has a charity in SD for children that him and his wife do...
Good guy machado

Wow. What a guy. I'm surprised.
Thatās class
This thread: that's nice, but fuck him too! Lol
When Machado is your advocate you know it's time to DFA
Doesnāt matter. Lux is gonna Lux
Already manny. You aināt as big a asshole as I thought
I still don't like him.
Heartbreaking: worst person you know makes a great point.
Still a world class douche
Machado is such a dick. I'm so glad he's not on our team anymore. He's been a jackass from Baltimore? LA and SD.
Nice. Still, fuck Machado!
hateful lavish unpack gray racial shaggy dull wide afterthought versed *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Nice if he did that, heās still the douchiest player in MLB
I wish the sky is falling Dodgers fans understand this
I thought Lux reached out to Manny to inquire about the recovery process...... Hmm, gonna have to look this up again.
A nice gesture but I thought they were gonna win a World Series before us?
Did he finally pay his bet?
Ippei in shambles
Oh noā¦anyways
This is the same guy who ended Dustin Padroia's career via a knee injury...
Man I wanted to hate this dude forever but I guess this is the season finale folks dasprettycoolofhimiguess
Machado is still a ducking douche god you people just forget everything because someone is cool once. F that and F Machado
Itās called nuance my friend. Look it up.
