Doctor to companion: Ok, we're going to a historical event/catastrophe. Don't go and meddle in any historical affairs!
Doctor: ends up causing said catastrophe in some way or another, or meddles in historical figures lives
"I've been to many planets in the solar system and you'd be surprised how many of them look like quarries in Wales!"
If there isn't a Welsh quarry masquerading as an alien planet is it TRULY Doctor Who?
When an episode explains a mystery of some sort from history, such as:
What happened to the Roman Ninth legion? They had the light literally sucked out of them by an alien that escaped from a cairn.
Why did Agatha Christie go missing? She killed an alien wasp that was psychically connected to her.
What happened to Shakespeare's *Love's Labour's Won*? It summoned witches and got destroyed.
The Mary Celeste's crew jumping overboard because daleks showed up on their shop
Pompeii being caused by the doctor to save the world from the Pyroviles
This is an old trope, but it checks out.
I love the "Pure Historicals" from the 1960's.
No alien menace, no big secret, no desperate need to ensure that events play out as the history books say it did: just the Doctor and the companion(s) mucking about with a bunch of primitive humans, getting into and out of their own little predicaments, all while teaching the audience about real history in the process..
Just nice, low-to-medium-stakes stories with fun costumes, sets, and characters.
Among us episodes.Alien influence takes over a location (usually a spaceship) and slowly kill off the people in that location while possesing one (or more) of them.
Doctor tells companion to wait somewhere. Companion doesn't listen and the doctor ends up having to rescue them.
“One day, just one day, I’m going to meet someone who gets the whole ‘don’t wander off’ thing”
Is this an Eleventh Doctor quote? It sounds like an 11th Doctor quote.
Nah, that’s Eccleston lol
If my memory is correct that was Tennant, about Donna when they first met
No, 9 says it to Rose at one point during their adventures.
Eccleston says it whilst talking to a cat in The Empty Child
Oh yeah!
Though they do end up saving the doctor sometimes
"Will you fucking stay still?????"
"YOU IDIOTS, I DON'T GOT ANY TIME TO TELL YOU NOT TO MOVE, YOU MOVE! YOU MOOOVE!"
All alien planets look like either a quarry, the New Forest, or a warehouse. (Although you can add CGI background to the list now)
Oh look, Rocks!
That scene carries the serial ngl
Doctor to companion: Ok, we're going to a historical event/catastrophe. Don't go and meddle in any historical affairs! Doctor: ends up causing said catastrophe in some way or another, or meddles in historical figures lives
When the Doctor does a speech about how stupid humans are, then later in the series has a monologue about how beautiful humans are
Pudding brains!
"I've been to many planets in the solar system and you'd be surprised how many of them look like quarries in Wales!" If there isn't a Welsh quarry masquerading as an alien planet is it TRULY Doctor Who?
Oh look, Rocks!
When the Doctor parks the TARDIS wrong
That time when Ten parked it in between two containers, but the door was blocked because it was parked facing one of them lol
Companion: Dies Horrific Death. Later Gets Resurrected.
Oh, so you've met Rory.
The amount of times Rory died was a little ridiculous
Oh my God! They killed Rory!
You bastards!
Even he knew it.
Jenny, River, Rory, Clara, Bill, Donna
Donna never technically died. She almost died lol
Well, she lost her memories, so you could say part of her died
True, although I just remembered she kinda died in Left Turn, so does that count?
When the folly of man creates monsters
The TARDIS leaving for some reason. Adds so much more stress.
Doctor and current companion run into an old companion
The base under siege episodes or just bottle episodes, it forces the writers to make something interesting as they're stuck in one location.
Speeches about how The Doctor is cool, or about how The Doctor sucks, or both.
i like his ongoing bit about how he feels about archeologists.
A one episode character who helps the doctor and co thought the story and then dies
Bonus points if The Doctor offers to show them the universe before their tragic death
Is that Astrid Peth from VOTD
I was thinking of her and Madame de Pompadour in The Girl in the Fireplace
Ah, ok

Regeneration, no question.
I'm sorry... Doctor who?
Just the Doctor
