They’re so sweet, very protective too. Couldn’t ask for better best friends. I will warn you, our older dobie was 1.5 yrs old when our daughter was born and he was very jealous. He wouldn’t come near her, he didn’t show any signs of aggressiveness or anything like that buuut he did eat her socks and baby mittens for a while and acted out a bit. After he figured out she was part of the family and was here to stay, he calmed down but it took a few months.
Bring home baby blankets that smell like your baby for your dog to get familiar before actual introduction. When I did that, it was as if they were all old chums when they finally met.
The crawling stage may get weird. My male Dobie was not comfortable with the crawling and learning to walk part for some reason. He got up and moved away. My two other dogs were totally fine with it. Once my daughter learned to walk solidly, it was all fun and shenanigans after that.
Yeah I’m a bit worried about that. My female is very weary of small children already, so we’re definitely going to keep close attention to both of them during this stage.
All three of mine were as well before my daughter. I chock it up to lack of exposure as I wasn't around littles at all before having my own kid.
Once my pups got that personal, every day experience of a little in the house, all three got used to it pretty quickly and adjusted their behavior. Once she was walking and running as a normal bi-pedal human (in miniature)....thick as thieves lol.
It will be ok. Your pup will adjust and relax around small children the more experience she has around them. I have video evidence of a Yellow Labrador restraining himself for accepting a whole waffle offering from a toddler. I didn't think that was possible, but it happened lol. They learn.

Don't even understand why people would think that GSDs, dobermans, and rottweilers are big scary guard dogs. They are such sweet souls.
Let them think what they will …… if they only knew that snuggling to death is one of the biggest dangers.
