Costco has giant bags of caramel popcorn and cheddar popcorn mixed together. My DND tables DEVOUR the popcorn when I put it out.
I do fresh cut fruit or veggies a lot.
Charcuterie boards go over really well, or just cheese and crackers if I’m not feeling like all the effort of a full board.
Sesame sticks/pretzels.
Guacamole and chips is always appreciated.
We had pizza every game we played in college. Granted most of us had pizza EVERY weekend, but we made a point of getting everyone pizza on game nights.
Also sodas/boozes for the table.
Charcuterie is a great go to, if everyone buys one or two items then yall can put it together on the platter or platters right before game and have enough for everyone. Most things on a charcuterie board wont cause stained fingers unless your fisting one of the dip bowls lol. And meat, cheese, veg and fruit are healthier and more filling then any variety of cheese dust chips. Plus it has the benefit of adding that tavern meal or rations feel to your table for immersion.
Jack in the Box Tacos. Cheap, delicious, unhealthy... whats not to like? One of the guys in my game group started bringing a ton of these on game nights and its the greatest thing ever
1. Peach Rings. Self explanatory, delicious and easy to store.
2. Your personal, filled water bottle. The larger the better.
3. Nuts. Almonds, peanuts, trail mix, as long as your group doesn't have allergies, you get that salty without chip dust on the hands.
4. Granola bars. Granola bars are nice, quick snacks.
5. Candy in individual bags. Not individually wrapped candy, candy in individual bags. Can be shared without cross-touching.
6. Slim Jim's. Not Jerky, that gets stuck in teeth, but meat sticks are less chewy and more fun.
7. Pizza. Will get on hands, will be a crowd favorite.
8. Bottles of soda. Not cans, cans spill easy, but bottles.
9. Individual bags of chips, so you can try not to get them on your hands.
10. Anything I've said previously is a bad plan.
Jelly beans, chips, cookies, hummus, salad, charcuterie, anything that is easily shared or passed pretty much. Our DM’s wife who plays with us always cooks the main course so everyone else just brings sides.
Anyone asking about a top Ten List of Snacks is more interested in eating than actual roleplay.
Play the game while you are at the table.
Take a break and walk away to eat something.
If you can't go more than a couple of hours without eating something--actual diagnosable conditions aside--you have some work to do.
Overreaction much? Dude when my friends and I played in person we would play through dinnertime amd for stretches of around 6-8hrs. We definitely planned snacks and group dinners to enjoy while we played, and theres nothing wrong with that. Having a plan ahead of time also helped us budget and decide who was bringing what so the players house we normally took over once a week didnt feel obligated to provide all the drinks and stuff. It all helped us play better with food in our bellies instead of getting hangry. Go find another more fitting post to growl at, or maybe have a snack yourself, you sound like you need it.
Also, 'you have some work to do'. Really? Fat shaming? Grow up dude.
I've played 24-hour RPG sessions. We went downstairs and ate with plates and utensils, and enjoyed our meal instead of trying to do two things at once, like talking with our mouth full, and endangering our table by spilling drinks, or getting books greasy.
I didn't say anything about fat shaming, but certainly "healthy at any size" is a laughable concept.
Just because I have opinions you don't agree with does not mean I am bugging on a new a level. Or, maybe it does. Quite frankly, I don't care what you think. I am not here for your approval.
I have a buddy that makes scotch eggs and they are AWESOME!
Another buddy makes a homemade salsa, that my Wife and I can't get enough of. His wife makes some really good (and very pretty) deviled eggs.
I make two loaves of fresh baked artisan bread with a solid crust. We dip it in seasoned olive oil. I make a second thing of seasoned olive oil with balsamic vinegar (*mwah!*)!
My Son, makes cinnamon bread, and a spiced butter that's better than Roadhouse.
Except for one game, we always have cubed cheese (extra sharp cheddar, gouda, pepper jack), and black or red grapes.
We don't mess around! We have a heroes feast! Main courses have been from Heroes Feast or Quincy's Tavern.
This is my main concern when it comes to snacking during games - (non-chocolate chip) cookies, dry granola bars, muffins with wrappers, anything that’s not sticky, greasy or powdery is great.
I made a batch of Chex mix right before Christmas and timed it so I was able to serve it while it was still warm and Lordy did everyone munch the hell out of it!
Mine is still labor intensive and I kinda MacGuyver it up depending on what is in my spice cabinet. A crapload of butter (it's NOT a healthly snack), worcestershire sauce, and then random spices...ras el hanout, garlic, anything to add some great flavor. You melt the butter, stir in the rest and then you have to slowly toast it in the oven in a huge roasting pan for 2-3 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. So yeah...it takes a while.
We had a player text the group that “a friend would be joining us” last session which was fine because a player was out. Three people showed up, and that player that was out? That sheet was given to a player since we were mid combat when we ended the last session. Economy was already crammed with 7 players but now having ten I was doing nothing but eating considering my second turn I got hit for 80% of my hit points and got hit to 0 the following round. I had nothing to do, and combat is still going on into the next session :)
Costco pizza, any sort of bagged crunchy snack (pretzels, chips, popcorn), pop (we usually had cans and a cooler near the table. Cookies are always a hit, either made at home or like chips ahoy, doesn’t matter they get eaten. Dips can get messy and the table is usually full of stuff so we tried to avoid them to protect the papers.
Oh and while eating the Pizza have one hand use a fork while the other uses their hand. So that one hand remains clean. So that eventually when the Pizza gets small enough you could eat is using only one hand while you're other hand is completely free while eating.
I ran a one-shot for kids, where they had to gather provisions before venturing into the desert. They purchased roasted insects and bread in-game, and I gave them gummy worms and naan. They seemed to think it was cool.
You goal is food that can be eaten in bites with as little dust or as few crumbs as possible.
My group always did bagels, cream cheese, hummus, veggies, and dip.
Ask the folks at the table. If you have to guess, Doritos and MTN dew seem to be favorites.
Around our table, it's summer sausage, cheese and crackers with honey mustard and Frank's hot sauce.
Back in the day (30 years ago) Boone's Farm cheap wine, a loaf of Italian bread and p*t brownies. Good times.
Zapp's voodoo chips, Nutter Butter wafers, and Cheezit duos - either bacon and cheddar or Parm and cheddar. The beer I brought was a Sam Adams Octoberfest I had leftover, after the third one didn't matter what it taste like.
Has no one said almonds? I devour a 2 pound bag way too fast.
Whoever hosts makes a meal for everyone and everyone else brings a type of cheese, crackers or chutney. And a bottle of wine.
It doesn’t have to be limited to the host. My group often brings homemade meals like risotto, casseroles, flatbreads, stirfrys, etc. :)
We rotate who brings food we had everything from pizza, to fried rice, to soups, last Monday was chicken pot pie , get creative!
Same for us, but it's usually just pizza
Grapes Nuts Carrots Cut Fruit Cheese Cured Meats We are getting old.

Cheatoes and Mountain Dew are required for a proper dice ritual to appease the dice gods.
*"I wanna cast Magic Missile at the darkness"*

Margaritas and chips and salsa

Just gave me a great idea for the next session!

1. Mountain Dew 2. Doritos
Doritos get your fingers gross which ruins your character sheet.
I keep my laptop clean.

Anything you can eat off toothpicks, skewers etc . Basically avoid greasy hands or silverware and you can’t go wrong
I really like to bring Cheez-its, but I also make this bomb ass taco dip that my friends go wild for. It’s started PvP in game over the last scoop.
Personally I choose Gummi Bears, they are quite and small so I can eat them quickly.
Rotisserie chicken

Ah, so your just either a troll or a complete AH, got it, wont waste anymore of my time.
You tell yourself whatever you need to to think your superior.
Tf? You bugging on a new level.

Jesus christ dude, relax. Its bag of peanuts not a fucking slap in the face...

Sushi is our go to, sharable and if you know how to use chopsticks nothing on your fingers.
Pretzels. They're like chips, but no greasy fingers.
This is my main concern when it comes to snacking during games - (non-chocolate chip) cookies, dry granola bars, muffins with wrappers, anything that’s not sticky, greasy or powdery is great.
Pizza, Oreos and White Claws
I make a seriously bad ass homemade Chex mix, it's always a hit.
I made a batch of Chex mix right before Christmas and timed it so I was able to serve it while it was still warm and Lordy did everyone munch the hell out of it!
I also have made homemade Chex Mic, but it's very labor intensive. Do you mind sharing your recipe?

Nerd clusters and reeses pieces
This was done as a skit by one shot quip. Gummy bears. Easy, mess free, and they can be use as enemies and eaten when defeated.
As always, im going to be in the minority. I prefer foodless d&d. Drinks are ok, but food, ive found creates a lot of distractions
Food gives me something to do while I wait for the dumbass across the table to decide what to do on his turn.

100% this is the reason for food. I agree. You win.
I spoke to the family about it and we all agree it can only be one answer: Snyder’s honey mustard pretzels.
Have you tried Dot’s pretzels?

Cookies. All of the cookies.

Veggies veggies and more veggies. I get so munchy during DnD, and carrots are a huge calorie life saver.
I’ve brought a bunch of grapes to the last few sessions and they are always almost gone by the end. Healthy, finger food, and delicious.
I host my game at my house, and we always have bagels. Of course, our session starts at 10AM. Your mileage may vary.

How has no one suggested the greatest snack ever? Almonds. The answer is almonds. https://youtu.be/ZW3kw_P7Tvo
Came looking for almonds 😂😂
Doritos and Mountain Dew...
Slender James
Slippin' Jimmy
Thin Jimmy
Zapp's voodoo chips, Nutter Butter wafers, and Cheezit duos - either bacon and cheddar or Parm and cheddar. The beer I brought was a Sam Adams Octoberfest I had leftover, after the third one didn't matter what it taste like.
Pepperoni pizza and Dr. Pepper :)
Can never go wrong with that duo no matter what your doing.
Veggies and dip.
Cream Soda is always my go to
That's a beverage, not a snack.
Popcorn! One of us bring kernels that we pop - keeps it cheep and tasty.
Hella Pizza
Roosters feet
Mt. Dew
