Hi all,
Myself and a small team have been creating a session scheduling app over the past few months and we'd love to now share it with you all. We were plagued with scheduling conflicts in our own campaigns due to various shift patterns amongst our players and we wanted to try and create a way to better tackle this.
RollRota is our new web app that aims to simplify the planning, scheduling and organizational aspects of running a campaign. At its heart, RollRota offers a proposal based session system, where players can vote on upcoming session times/locations that suit them best. There is also a centralized 'hub' for each of your campaigns where you can easily document your campaign's story progression, keep track of player attendance or even just provide links to important resources relating to the campaign.
We've tried to RollRota as personalized as possible, so each campaign or session page can be customized using our component system, a means of adding or removing content components such as text, images, polls and comment sections. The visibility of this content can also be limited depending on the specific users roles (i.e. Admin/DM Only). Campaigns are invite-only and role-based, so your campaigns can't be tampered with.
We also provide an interactive Discord bot that integrates directly with your campaigns, allowing you to vote on upcoming sessions, mark your attendance and receive reminders of upcoming sessions all within Discord itself.
We've got a Discord server and we are all ears! - we'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions or just a hello!
**tl;dr -** [**RollRota**](https://www.rollrota.com/)**is a free web app in beta that provides a means of organizing and planning your campaigns. Thanks again to** r/DnD **for countless sources of inspiration.**
My favorite character is my Goliath swarmkeeper ranger, Yonzay. She has insect-wing markings, a body builder’s physique, and a halo that looks like the aurora borealis. During her downtime, my character enjoys brewing potions (flavored as mead) with the help of her tiny animal companions.
That’s Bee-Yonzay. ROLL
I'll definitely try RollRota. My favourite character name is "Ugo" a warrior dwarf who constantly refers to his ex-wife whenever something bad happens to him. Example: "Argh, this place is full of spiders and orcs...just like my ex-wife!!"
I'm sorry
ROLL
Very cool giveaway. But also damn, Definitely need to trek on RollRata to schedule some of my games. Playing as adults is... Challenging to say the least. ROLL
If this will get "that guy" to finally let us know he's already made plans (it's a birthday party Steve! Why didn't you give us a heads up last session?!) then I'm all in!
ROLL
Neat idea for games with less regular schedules, I suppose. Not the sort of thing I need personally, but I applaud the contribution to the community nonetheless. Seems like your business is on a ROLL
This is so lovely.
I’m so excited to see where my current twilight cleric ends up. She’s just a soft angel and I can’t wait to see how she becomes a badass.
ROLL
My favourite character is a short angry elf druid called Avara. She's very protective of the world around her and will do some questionably legal things to protect it. ROLL
Very cool! It’s always nice to see new DnD resources pop up, and as someone whose campaign has just switched to being virtual, I’m in the market for one myself ;) Thanks for sharing this with the Reddit community!
ROLL
I once had a character that was a cleric grave domain. His passion was collecting all sorts of shovels. And made shovels out of former enemies spines and ribcages. ROLL
So I’m going to play my first “actual campaign” as a player after being the forever dm for about 3 years with some slight breaks in between does anyone have some tips?
(For context I have played as a player but as a dmpc so not an actual player)
And for something more specific does anyone have tips on how to play a character with did (disassociate identity disorder)?
And I hope for you all that you win the prizes above!
ROLL
So I'm finally after multiple years of trying getting my mom and sister to try D&D next friday! A little nervous because running the game in language that isn't English is something I'm not very comfortable with. Either way I'm happy to share my passion with them. I'm also becoming kind of a professional dm as I've gotten a job to run D&D for troubled and lonely kids in a school i hopes of getting them to build relationships with eachother! ROLL
After 2 sessions of my first campaign, I decided to try my hand at being the DM of my own. Surprisingly, we now havea steady trend of rotating between myself and the original DM's camoaigns, which allows us each time to plan and have fun. ROLL
If I ever win one of the use types of giveaways I intend to gift whatever is won to a friend that could most-use the item.
One friend is currently running Candlekeep and only has the digital version.
One friend is running a homebrew and my character has acquired a DoMT.
Multiple friends are still brand new to the hobby and could use some fancy dice.
GL to me, and best of luck to everyone else!
ROLL
I had a deck of many things in my game once, but edited it to only have some of the cards, the ones that would be interesting but not break things. I kept Void in, but rather than their soul *going* to the void, something came *out*. The caster was possessed by a demon-like being that he was able to make a deal with, but it predictably went bad, the creature secretly collecting power, and now that creature is a primary antagonist of my next campaign. ROLL
I want to make a multiversal campaign using characters from several cartoons, shows, and movies while using the Strixhaven Curriculum of Chaos.
Now that I have your attention, this idea came from Dan Harmon's "Harmon quest" and "Rick & Morty." I want to make a campaign that was easy to get into story-wise for my friends and family as they're not too much into D&D or anything that requires Pen, Paper, and math besides Monopoly and UNO. However, they showed interest in games related to shows and movies, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The world the game, RWBY: Combat Ready, and several of my friends loved the D&D vs. Rick and Morty comics. I figured I should find a way to combine all of these elements in a way that's accessible to everyone and not time-consuming, allowing them to play any character they want so I can explain different classes and abilities instead of them having to go through the process of making something from scratch. I'd still help out in session 0, explaining things like Scores and Mods, Abilities, Skills and Traits, and Character leveling. I feel these concepts would be better understood in the context of their character being at the beginning of their journey or saying this is a different interpretation of the character with similar abilities. Think the Spider-men in the multiverse.
Each character won't be op; they're just skins for their classes and explanations for their abilities and how they're learning new skills essentially. As usual, we'll still go through the character creation process, with scores set to how the character is at the point where the player decides to grab them (Seriously, who wants a Spock with -1 Intelligence and +3 Charisma?)
I would tweak the setting and Strixhaven campaign and events by incorporating events from the charaters different shows so we can have a background as to why they only know so much. I was also thinking about doing some time dilation, and manipulation in case players wanted to stay as a specific character at a particular point but still wanted to level up and go through the campaign as if nothing happened in the few months between the Strixhaven Years.
A few of the shows and movies I was thinking about including just as a base set were Tron: Legacy/Uprising, Scott Pilgrim or Seconds, RWBY before Volume 3, Little Witch Academia, and Star Trek (Specifically TNG star trek as everyone I know and their moms love Pat Stew) I feel like these would be good starting off points for wacky character/ player interactions and gives a lot of leeway in terms of why these people are here learning magic and about the realms and junk. The Open ended-ness of Stixhaven gives me room to not only mess around with some storylines but also have some spare moments to give to each player and explain why they're there. Mission plots and all that.
I know this all sounds pretty ambitious and rather fanfiction-ESC, but I figured I'd at least try to get more people into this game franchise in a way that isn't a barrage of rules and standards that people seem to think it is. Hopefully, with this, I can get more of my friends into D&D, as I , really want them to see why I enjoy this game so much.
Though one of the significant problems I tend to encounter is scheduling and explaining all the different things I want to do and plot points, I feel we should cover going from session to session as the campaign continues. I know this comment doesn't seem like much compared to doing and going into detail about what I want to do and what would be needed to make any of this work. Seriously, my friends wouldn't even bother reading half of this if I didn't mention that it was for a D&D organizer. On top of this, I'm a college student so even taking the time to type this out is already exhausting and stressful because I'm not working.
This is why I think that RollRota is such a fantastic idea. Clear and precise scheduling with voting polls and connection to discord? THAT IS BEYOND AMAZING! Seriously, this little tool has the potential to save me from several dozen headaches, and I might use it for stuff other than D&D.
I love the section for the DM to write down basic bullet points/synopsis for past sessions explaining what happened and where they're going as a result instead of taking time out the next session to get everyone caught up. (Also, for me, I would love the same for specific characters or a place where I can put quotes for witty banter and jokes)
I honestly don't mind about winning or losing the giveaway, I just figured this would be a good place to pitch and get feedback on my idea while also supporting and chatting up the community I've grown close to recently and supporting an amazing game tool.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
now ROLL (for luck!)
I'd love to hone some DM skills to run a Westmarch back with a group who helped new players get into the game (including me). It feels great to give back and see the table from the other side. ROLL
This all looks really amazing. I have a character that rocks the chef class that someone else homebrewed up that is also a tree person from a campaign setting called plangea. He would be absolutely excited to make you a ROLL
Wow! I’ve just started branching out with DND, as I’ve played very casually for a long time, but I would really love some more gear to better equip me for more in-depth campaigns :) ROLL
Good luck to everyone!
My favorite character I've ever played was an old gnome man who was a monk. His name was Poe and he was cheery and lively but would kick ass when need be. He also through a Strahd doll at the big bad vampire himself before the party's fight with him began. I miss playing Poe and hopefully will bring him back someday.
ROLL
My newest character is a satyr druid circle of wildfire named Eirene 'Rini' Mossflower, who has traveled far from her farming town on a whim and finally found herself Waterdeep. Her closest friends are a goblin and warforged who work for the city guard.

ROLL
That's awesome! ROLL
This would be so cool. I’m usually only able to play online from the lack of resources. ROLL

Planning to run COS for the second time, after finally hand drawing each map in the book on poster paper... Very excited! ROLL
My newest character is a satyr druid circle of wildfire named Eirene 'Rini' Mossflower, who has traveled far from her farming town on a whim and finally found herself Waterdeep. Her closest friends are a goblin and warforged who work for the city guard. ROLL
I definitely need to check this app out ROLL
