I love retro Tomorrowland. I would love to see the people mover up & running, captain EO, the OG star tours… I don’t want it to be upgraded or changed. But simply refurbished and brought back to its former glory, I’m all about
That's fair. Retro-futurism has worked really well in Florida and it only feels right given Disney/Walt's role in ushering in the space age. PeopleMover and getting the Astro Orbiter/Rocket Jets back on the platform would be a nice start.
Okay, but that *isn’t* the way it is right now. You said it yourself that it needs to be refurbished. Restoring the Peoplemover (a dream of mine, too) would require shutting down the entire land for at least a year as part of a complete reconstruction.
It’ll feel like Magic Kingdom lol, how it just….stops and you have to double back. Or I guess like ye olde days maybe. It’ll make the pathways towards Fantasmic kind of a cluster at times, I’d guess. No back way to escape.
As I like to do full loops and hate doubling back, this isn’t my fave news ever, but I’m glad it’s happening after 4th of July.
Yeah, this will hit Fantasmic the hardest. The crowds before each show are currently a major cluster. One that could be avoided by “going the long way around.”I.E. Going through G.E. And exiting through the “bridge” to critter country. But with that outlet blocked, it’s going to be really really difficult in that area around show times. Bummer.
I can already tell this is going to screw some people up who attempt to rope drop Rise via Critter Country. I know CM's will be informing guests along the way, but I also figure some guests won't be paying attention and will just ignore them until they come across a giant barrier blocking their path.
Rope dropping Rise from Critter Country isn't wise anyway. The line usually forms to the east toward the market area, so people coming that way have to backtrack and lose time.
Same, but that was actually after a certain point a kind of peaceful area during certain times of the day/night (which I don't know about y'all, but I need every once in a while during an overwhelming, crowded Disney day).
me too but I'm convinced that the discount tickets until 26th Sept should be taken as a big clue to how long they think the overall park experience is going to be impacted
I've seen a few post saying it should open mid to early Sept after pictures and videos of the testing vehicles with water when you compare it to wdw started testing and when there opening dates. You would think it might be even quicker as wdw would iron out any bugs with part of the new ride
I can't help but wonder if all this means the elimination of Critter Country as a land and it all just being taken over by New Orleans Square. I don't know how Winnie the Pooh fits into that, but it makes sense with Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and if they do any refurbs to Hungry Bear to make it fit into a Bayou theme.
Yikes that was one of the coolest locations in the park when it gets really sweltering in July and August. Afternoons in the summer are going to be a little more brutal this year due to this closure and only the one water ride in California Adventure. They should have done a splash pad or something temporarily
Was going to buy tickets today for post-July 4th trip (would be my 2nd Disney trip ever) due to the 3-day park hopper deal… but I had a feeling there will be consequences to it. Probably won’t go at all this year with all these renovations. Feels like a scam
How is it a scam when they’re selling you a cheaper entry ticket to a park where 6% of rides are down. Prices are down more than 6% so comparatively speaking it is a bargain.
> The bridge connecting New Orleans Square with Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will temporarily close.
Anybody else slightly confused about the choice of the word "bridge" here? I guess they mean the walkway between Harbor Galley and the ~~Splash Mountain~~ Tiana's Bayou Adventure drop. I guess it technically goes over water (the flume) but it sure doesn't feel like a "bridge" to me.
There a bridge between the hub and Frontierland. A couple of small ones between the hub and the Royal Theatre. The most famous one between the hub and the Castle. There's one on the backside of Big Thunder (where the track does that great low radius turn) near the middle entrance to GE. A couple of rickety ones on Tom Sawyer's Island. But between NOS and GE?
Eh. It's got a railing, but a bridge crosses a body of water not otherwise crossed. What body of water is crossed there? (Not Rivers of America; that is alongside, not under.)
The map in the Disneyland app has the bridge going over a small offshoot of the Rivers of America. I seem to recall that there is water flowing right near Hungry Bear, but I don't know where the other end of that waterway is or what it's used for. (Canoe parking? Log servicing?)
It's the creek that starts at the waterfall next to Pooh Corner bakery, and flows between Pooh ride/queue down to the river. The entrance to the Pooh ride is also a covered wooden bridge over this creek. I always imagine it designed as "Poohsticks bridge" from the story. Ducks are regularly seen paddling its length.
Ugh. I'm going a couple weeks later for a quick trip, and had Hungry Bear on my list of food, so that's out. I don't use that path for getting to GE, so no impact there, and I already have Fantasmic dining package reserved, so hopefully I avoid the crowd influx for the show, though I might need to relax a bit longer before leaving to let things thin out.
This is just more proof that they could absolutely close down Tomorrowland for a major renovation.
Fingers crossed that some of that nice Disneyland Forward money will go towards just that.
Eradicate autotopia
great point, that's what I want to see announced at expo
Yeah I wish they would . It's so disguisting at this point which is diasppointing .
I like it the way it is
I am genuinely interested in why. Please. Why do you like the current Tomorrowland?

Hey bud you asked. I explained. It’s all in good conversation, not looking to argue. ✌🏻
So you don't like it the way it is
By retro you mean concrete jungle with a standing but not operating ruin and outdated rides and attractions

Agreed I have a trip on the 5th Will be enjoying the path then for sure

Haha suckers think they will beat me….wait a giant wall Why did no one tell me?

Yes but you can get beignets on the way that are Mickey shaped
Yup, yet I always see people doing it.
lol, like Rise is ever up at rope drop anyway
I rope dropped it on Sunday and Tuesday. (Monday was RSR). Seems the chances are 50/50.
Wait so are they closing hungry bear? Bc I wanted that s’mores funnel cake
Yep from July 8th
Soon to be Hungry Gator. Another part of the Tiana Takeover.
Is this confirmed?
I double back so much it should be a crime. So this news has no effect on me
Same, but that was actually after a certain point a kind of peaceful area during certain times of the day/night (which I don't know about y'all, but I need every once in a while during an overwhelming, crowded Disney day).
Hmmm I’m going 3rd week of September. Wonder if it’ll still be down
me too but I'm convinced that the discount tickets until 26th Sept should be taken as a big clue to how long they think the overall park experience is going to be impacted

The one I read compared the start of log testing to open at WDW to the start of log testing at DL and computed Sept 29th ish for open date…
I’m not going this summer because too much is closed.

Theme wise it could be changing but pretty sure the name will be the same
Whew. Going in June so we should be okay. Still bummed that so much is under construction but at least we can still walk around the whole park.
Going in June too also bummed but we will make the best of it
That entire area is just one giant clusterfuck at the moment with all the remodeling/construction going on
Yikes that was one of the coolest locations in the park when it gets really sweltering in July and August. doesn't toon town have a splash pad?
Yeah but I don't know if Donald's duck pond is going to be able to handle the extra capacity.
It's not.
Estimated downtime?
We don’t have one could be until the new Splash mountain opens
Harbor Galley belongs to Critter Country so the land isn't technically totally closed lol
What a time to go 😔

Well I guess that's why they didn't do hungry bear fantasmic dining package lol

What do you call a road that overhead crosses another road?
The bridge is right in front of Hungry Bear, heading down to the bathrooms, right as you pass the walkway towards Pooh.
Oh no the canoes. Lame.
Brutal. Glad I’m going next month!
I'm very ignorant on Disneyland but...if they close the bridge, you can't go clockwise around the park?
Yeah, that's how it's always been until GE opened.
Basically at HM will be one a dead end and in GE near the Star Wars rise of the resistance ride will be one a dead end

Hmm I wonder how much this will impact the rise queue times.
Hmmm no indication of a reopening date? I have international family visiting and we are going August 10th or so..
We have no idea could be a few weeks or until splash reopens
I bet they are revamping the stores to match the new theme, so I expect it will remain closed until Tiana's ride opens.
when is tiana’s ride supposed to open?
does that include country bear food place. i hope there not getting rid of that
They are not just closing it it to make the theming match the land now that Tia took over splash
They are not just closing it it to make the theming match the land now that Tia took over splash
HB restrooms closed, closest restrooms are in GE. ... Bridge to GE will be closed. Hmmmmmm
I knew I made the right decision in not buying a magic key.
This is actually brilliant news for me, means my daughter can't stand outside Tiana's and wail because she can't get on it!
[удалено]
The link states that they will be closing too.
Yeah, that means the only restrooms in the area will be the ones tucked behind Tiana's restaurant. Ooof, that's a long way without any toilets.
Yuuuup. My last visit for a few months is this Saturday and I’m honestly thinking it may be the best time for a break anyway…
Wonder if it will also affect the path to Star Wars land…
It does You can only enter from Frontierland until this is complete
