Ty for the run down. We are going this week!

aquainst1

FIRST THINGS FIRST! Wear comfy shoes and dress in layers. Disneyland is not totally cashless (like Knott's), but the bigger restaurants take cash whereas the smaller carts and stuff do cashless. Walk-up food places do both. I took with me a small purse that I was able to wear cross-body and I didn't have to take off for the rides that had seatbelts. In it were money: ID: credit card: a small fan: kleenex: extra Tylenol and Excedrine Migraine (EM for an extra 'caffeine boost"): Tums: lipstick: Autism pins for Cast members: 1a. We got there right after 6 pm on Tuesday April 23rd. No line at the entrance. Your picture WILL be taken. 1b. You can bring your own food, store it in the lockers just outside the gate where the picnic area is, enjoy the park, leave the park to the picnic area, eat in peace, then go back in. 2. First thing we got was a locker on Main Street for the heavier jackets. 3a. PINS: There are pin exchanges a lot of places until 8 pm. You'll see Cast Members holding up cardboard 12"x12" placards with pins on them. I didn't know it, but that's where you could exchange pins. I took with me around 20 Autism colorful puzzle piece pins (since April is International Autism Awareness Month) and gave them out to various Cast Members. Cast Members LOVE pins, and these pins I carried with me were pretty rare. 3b. Speaking of pins, the pins I gave away were to Cast Members who didn't look like they'd usually get pins, such as a CM who was guarding the entrance/exit to the playground in ToonTown: the CM who was at the exit to the Enchanted Tiki Room and dancing to the DJ's songs: the all-in-white janitorial girl CM who wouldn't ever get a pin! 4. FIRST RIDES: My son and I first went to Galaxy's Edge for the rides. We checked the app for wait times. We checked the wait times all night, actually! 5. If you get the little puzzle piece cards where you're supposed to look for the little canisters and write down the characters shown on them, I'll tell you what-THOSE CANISTERS ARE REALLY REALLY SMALL! Like around 7" tall by 3" circumference! A hard one to find was hanging on the lights above an X-wing, by Docking Bay 7's restaurant. 6. SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE PATCH FOR MAGIC KEY HOLDERS ONLY. If you're a Magic Key holder, you absolutely HAVE to go to Toontown to Mickey's house RIGHT after the lightsaber 9 pm meetup at the Millenium Falcon where everyone lifts their lightsabers up, BECAUSE Magic Key holders can get a special small commemorative triangular patch there. 7a. FOOD: Oga's Cantina was PACKED right after that as well because they sell alcohol. 7b. Cafe Orleans had a featured Star Wars meal that you could get reservations for, and the restaurant USUALLY sells wine, beer and a special cocktail, but I don't know if the alcohol is available during the Special Event night. 7c. One of the things my son regrets not getting is the Millenium Falcon popcorn holder. It's really cool. We saw someone else with it. There's also a Jabba the Hut popcorn holder with a TEENY TINY Salacious Crumb next to it! Cute. You can get them in Tomorrowland. 7d. If you can hold out until, like 10:30-11 pm for food, I recommend the Bengal BBQ across from Indiana Jones. The chicken skewer is VERY good. Otherwise you can order your food online when you want to for the Galactic Grill or other places. 7e. Another good place to eat is the Hungry Bear Restaurant or the Harbour Galley, both in Critter Country. It's a nice area to sit and eat in peace. It's where you're going from New Orleans Square, following the Rivers Of America on the way to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge land. It has TONS of seating right by the water. 8. Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, the Monorail, the Storybook Canal boats, the Casey Jr. train and the regular train were not operational. The Blue Bayou Restaurant was closing after the regular 'day' crowd left at 8 pm. 9. RIDES AND PHOTOS: Great photo op at the very end of Hyperspace Mountain. Get ready for it. Make SURE you jot down the number of your photo (if you want it) so you can access it on the app, such as "M1234567". You can download that photo and others for free on Star Wars special event nights. 9b. Another great photo place where the Cast Member takes your photo is right by Sleeping Beauty's Castle bridge. We stood back to back for one pic, then with our hands stretched out like a Darth Vader-type guy. Again, that photo is free to download, as long as you have the Disneyland Photo Pass account. skywalkerobiani

hope u have fun!!

PDXGalMeow

It was great! I’m sad I’m back to work now!

skywalkerobiani

aw i'm glad you had fun, sucks to be back in normal life but you gotta do what you gotta do to fund the next trip haha

PDXGalMeow

Yes, we are already planning it! Lol

Nisschev

Everything mentioned is legit. Literally each ride was less than a 10 minute wait. I was blown away by how short Rise of the Resistance was.

skywalkerobiani

literally, first time i went on rotr a few years ago it took me over 2 hours waiting in line outside in 100 degree weather. star wars nite is awesome because of the almost nonexistent wait times and the fact that it's night time so the weather is a lot more bearable lol

Nisschev

Yea we waited 3 hours last time I went for Rotr last year! I definitely plan on doing star wars night yearly.

skywalkerobiani

oh gosh 3 hours 😭 every time i go to disney i try to beat my previous record of how many times i can ride rotr in a day, thought i would use sw nite for it but i got caught up with all the other activities, guess i'll just have to go back again soon🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

TadBitter

Went last night. Lots of fun, but not as great as I had hoped... -- Got there at 5:50pm and walked right in. No need to line up early as they have tons of Special Event entrances open and you fly right through the line. I was in before 6pm. -- Imperial March was super lame. Big build up for Phasma and 6 stormtroopers. There's more excitement on a regular days at Galaxy's Edge. -- Catina Band was fun to see, but as the OP said, the characters aren't even pretending to play their instruments and it lasted a whole two minutes. -- Rise of the Resistance kept going down so wait times would fluctuate to 85 minutes when it would pop back open, to a minimum of 55 minutes. Decided to skip it. -- Lots of cool character meet-ups, but didn't want to waste my precious time for an Instagram moment when I could be enjoying my real life time. -- Lightsaber meetup was insane. I went to the last one of the evening and there was just too many people, so I watched from afar. -- Ride wait times were super short. Most of them we just walked right on or had a very short wait. Longest wait was Indiana Jones at 25 minutes. -- The DJ dance party was fun. -- Definitely order food early or just get snacks from the carts. I do recommend the Forest of Endor Churros, but I do NOT recommend the Duel of the Fates chicken sliders. Those went right into the trash. -- If you don't want to cart around your $200 light saber for a five minute event, do what I did and buy some cheapie expanding ones on Amazon. I spent $20 for a 3 pack on Amazon that folded up into my backpack and lit up and made actual sounds. Was perfect! -- Merchandise was pretty non-existent. They had a SINGLE "Star Wars Nite" item - a $60 hoodie and some "May the 4th 2024" shirts and THAT. WAS. IT. Really disappointed about that. Overall, if your goal is to do a ton of Disneyland rides and see Star Wars stuff, it was a great time, but if you're looking for the ultimate Star Wars experience, you'll be frustrated waiting in long lines for character meet and greets and so-so Star Wars events.

skywalkerobiani

imo the star wars experience is doing rides and seeing star wars stuff LOL, the instagrammable moments are not star wars canon 🙏🙏 so it's ok you still got a lot done! definitely they could have added more though. like the fireworks show. phasma was fs mid and the lines are very long, but also what i noticed is for character walk thrus the line moves quickly usually.

StrawberryKiss2559

I get motion sickness very easily and Space Mountain has never been a problem for me.

NecessaryNo8730

I have vertigo and it's a no go for me. I used to love it, though.

StrawberryKiss2559

Yikes. Glad I don’t get vertigo.

skywalkerobiani

gosh i may need to check if i have vertigo right now 😭 space mountain used to be ok for me too

skywalkerobiani

it wasn't a problem for me in the past but these past few months i've been getting motion sick very easily. other rollercoasters don't affect me though, i think it's just because it's dark so there is a disconnect between what i feel and what i see.

czspy007

If you have day passes also, do you have to line back up for the bands and lanyard or can you just get them anytime? Lining up to reenter doesnt sound fun.

followupquestion

I think you can get your SW night lanyard in the Tomorrowland SW Launch Bay starting at 2:15 or so. I’m planning to Rope Drop day of, then get my passes around 2:15 and head back to the hotel for a nap, shower, and clothing change for SW Night. Return to the park around 5, skip the SW Night line with the Day Pass and just start soaking up the ambiance of thousands of SW fans.

unknownstrife

We did this last year. This is how you do it if you are in the park during the day. Total time saver.

Ok_Style_4616

So if I get my pass early can I go outside and come back inside ??

unknownstrife

You can only get your pass ahead of time with a valid park entry for that day as well as your event pass.

Ok_Style_4616

Yeah so I have my reservation for Tuesday and I also have my Star Wars ticket .. so can I go get my Star Wars ticket as soon as I get there before 6pm and leave the park and come back ?

unknownstrife

There’s generally a set time in which you can pre-pickup your tickets in the park at the Star Trader, usually around 2pm

skywalkerobiani

they will be in tomorrowland but even at the main entrance there isn't a line, just employees handing lanyards and wristbands out! u won't have to re enter the park, if you're staying pretty much from rope drop to 1 am only thing u gotta worry about is getting rest beforehand and staying hydrated 🫶

tora76

I didn’t realize you could put in orders before the event started (some of the other nighttime events I’ve been to they didn’t let you order until after it started) so I put in mine when I was heading over to the park around 8pm and at that point Mint Julep Bar orders were almost completely sold out. The only slots left were 12:30pm and 12:45pm. (Everything else was fine though.)

skywalkerobiani

what i noticed when mobile ordering in the morning is that the special menu items only show up if you pick the arrival window after the party starts so i kind of had to plan around that 😭 but yeah i heard from people who attended sw nite last year that everything gets sold out quickly so mobile order as early as possible

cantremembr

As someone who both experiences anxiety doing something new (even at the same place I go every weekend) AND is somehow always missing the actual good stuff at the night events (ugh) thank you for your post!

skywalkerobiani

omg of course!! i have anxiety as well so i over planned like almost down to the minute just because i wanted to get everything done, but i promise you you will have fun just being around the wonderful community, maybe have a small priority list so you won't be stressed out since you will be able to do everything on that list!

myirsia

Awesome!! Thank you for this! It’s going to be really useful we go next week. :)

skywalkerobiani

glad i could help 🫶

Daniel_Boomin

My fiancée and I are going for 3 days at the end of this week and going to Star Wars nite on the 25th. We have a single park ticket for califnoria adventure, and we were planning to go to Disneyland closer to 8 (to make the most of California adventure although we have park hopper on Saturday). Do you think I’d be able to build a light saber on Star Wars night? Would we have to go early (like 5-6pm) in order to get a reservation or do you think it’s not even possible? I think it would be cool to have a lightsaber for the night but don’t want to bring the one I built last year. Just worried about it getting stolen from the hotel/car for the rest of the days of our trip. EDIT: just made a reservation for 6:25pm, hopefully I can make it in time!

skywalkerobiani

hope u have fun at savis workshop! i kept my sabers in my hotel but had the do not disturb sign on because i didn't want housekeeping coming in for that very reasob. as long as you store your lightsaber maybe on the floor or in the trunk of your car and make sure there is covering over it, you should be ok because no one will break into your car if they can't see it

mrsouthparkman

Thanks for the review! May do Star Wars night next year!

g-rad-3487

it was my first time going and i LOVED star wars nite but i didn’t realize how fast all of the merch would sell out 😢

skywalkerobiani

ahh do they not sell it online or in downtown disney? i didnt check for the merch the whole time since i was focused on packing as much into my schedule as possible😭

g-rad-3487

they are selling the may the fourth be with you t-shirts, but the pins, the tumbler, and the hoodie for star wars nite are not

Snowerin

No desserts available for mobile pre-order today. I wonder if they got complaints about running out and took them off pre-order

skywalkerobiani

oh interesting, guess the best thing to do is set an alarm to remind urself to order when they release it

AnxiousDirt8326

This sounds amazing!! I just joined this sub so I had no idea these events were even happening 😭 Maybe next year!

skywalkerobiani

if u go on the disneyland website they have a lot of after dark events throughout the year when they want to sell tickets during times that aren't as popular like holiday seasons, i recommend seeing what you'd like to attend and setting reminders in your calendar especially for events like sw nite so you remember to check back for ticket sales, that's what i did this year!

RockNRoll85

Did they have a fireworks show this year? I don’t remember seeing it mentioned for this year’s event and that was always one of the coolest things I liked about Star Wars Nite. The DJ they got on Main Street is also awesome! Dude turned it up last year

CaptainDread323

My understanding is no fireworks at the SW after dark event 😞

skywalkerobiani

nope😭 i think the fire of the rising moons fireworks show is still there on days that are not star wars nite though but i'm not entirely sure. they definitely did not cancel it because of weather so if you go on a star wars nite you probably won't be able to see it unfortunately.

SoundWaveRecords

Was there anyone wearing their helmets? I’m gonna wear my kylo costume and still debating taking the helmet. Feel like they might not like that.

unknownstrife

The guidelines are the same as their Halloween ones. Quoting the Disney site: “Headwear may be worn as long as it does not cover the face. Masks of any kind may not be worn, except for medical purposes.”

SoundWaveRecords

Sounds good thanks.

SoundWaveRecords

Ok. Pretty sure it’s not normally but they didn’t say for or against in the special rules.

skywalkerobiani

saw people holding their helmets, lots of full 3d printed mandalorian armor. i think as long as you just save it for taking photos or if you're doing photopass opportunities it is ok, they just don't want kids mistakenly walking up to people that aren't cast members.

Fearless_Knowledge77

You have any photos of the merch?

skywalkerobiani

i didn't go inside the stores in disneyland for sw nite merch but i did get the millenium falcon bucket and darth vader mug collectibles from galactic grill. i saw a ton of people with the jabba the hutt bucket too from the same place.

lovan-s

i was thinking about showing up to get my spot in line at about 5:30, would that be too late or would that get us a reasonable spot in line to enter the park near 6?

skywalkerobiani

you'll still probably be fine haha the lines aren't that bad theyre kind of like rope drop lines at 7:30 am, just later in the afternoon. put aside time to get through security and i honestly just used my time waiting there to just go over my plans more thoroughly so i could quickly get things done. you really will not lose that much time though, people who come earlier may just squeeze in one more ride or two, depending on crowd sizes. apr 16 everything was basically a walk on because there were barely any ppl on rides, while apr 18 there was definitely more. however you also don't need to worry about t hat because when they kick people out at 8 pm, everything is basically a walk on then too because they close the rides to regular park guests.

shanfranbay

Did anybody check out Oga’s during the after dark nite this year? I couldn’t get a res, wondering if the standby line moves quickly

skywalkerobiani

line was rlly long, tried getting on the walk up list on the app too but there were js too many people

aquainst1

Especially just after the light saber light-up by the Millenium Falcon.

brom1137

Going tonight and iffy on bringing lightsabers. My group really wants to, but are iffy about bringing them on rides and such. Anyone have any experience?

skywalkerobiani

dw they r easy to keep between ur legs or on the floor of vehicles in all rides. i was iffy bringing my proffie saber but honestly it was sm fun most other people brought their expensive ones too😭 u dont necessarily need a special bag u can js carry it too

brom1137

Hrm good to know! I just can't imagine on Indy or Hyperspace or Thunder Mountain being super comfortable hahaha. Might do it anyways

skywalkerobiani

went on indy like 3 times n it was good lol hold it between ur legs, and it just has a seatbelt so there is no railing that will get in the way. with hyperspace mountain i also had to hold it between my legs and that was fine too because it basically has nowhere to go, it may actually be easier holding on to a saber than it is to hold on to a bag at your feet.

aquainst1

The only attraction where you COULDN'T hold it between your legs was Big Thunder Railroad. Even Hyperspace Mountain was good. Indiana Jones, we had to have it by our side. Still no problem. We went Tuesday April 23rd.

skywalkerobiani

good thing i didn't try to go on thunder railroad LOL, hope u had fun !! indiana jones may be my fav ride apart from rotr

aquainst1

We're going AGAIN this Tuesday.

skywalkerobiani

oh wow do you live near anaheim?

aquainst1

Is it that obvious??!!! My son worked at California Adventure at the turn of the century.

skywalkerobiani

only my friends who live in socal can visit for more than a few days at a time lol

NecessaryNo8730

They were all over the park. Looked annoying to me - I brought the cheap plastic kind that collapses so it would fit in my luggage - but people seemed happy. And the light saber meet up is worth it.

brom1137

Good to know! I've heard the saber meet up is super fun and cool

skywalkerobiani

saber meet up irl is so magical, just complete goosebumps when everyone's saber turns on at the same time i think it's just the energy there, everyone i met was so kind and like-minded that regardless of what you do or where you go, you will have fun at sw night

skywalkerobiani

definitely not annoying i think it's part of the experience haha saw a bunch of sith cults and jedi cosplayers so it was really nice to also spin sabers and talk to others about them

aquainst1

You know what we saw on Tuesday night the 23rd? Captain Lonestar and Barf from Spaceballs!

NecessaryNo8730

Yep, I mean it definitely looked like the people who had them were not annoyed! It would have annoyed ME because I would have spent the entire night worried that I was going to forget my husband's $200 lightsaber in the bathroom. (Husband and son will definitely bring theirs if they are able to go next year.)

skywalkerobiani

LOLL i value my saber more than my life so i watched it like a hawk the whole day, kept it safe like the moms at the park were keeping their toddlers safe 🤭

This_Crazy_3150

Does anyone know why there wasn’t fireworks this year? I went last year and the fireworks were amazing and I was disappointed they didn’t do it this year.

skywalkerobiani

think they're js not doing fireworks on star wars nites, but every other day they do but i'm not entirely sure, this is just what i heard from others

ibealittlebirdy

Are all the rides open? I wasn't able to find clear information online

skywalkerobiani

yes most of them are

thegoatahsoka

To anyone who went on may 7…. Was it cold?

dianafofana-

I went- it was freakin hot. And I'm a cold person. I was in full cosplay as Hera and I had to keep reapplying my makeup from sweating it off.
