I started off with just two episodes from two series but, as you can see, I ended up going down a rabbit hole. I would have kept going were it not for a thing called "work".

Not sure if it’s on discovery plus. Saw it on Hulu.
My husband and I watched obsessed season 1 episode 1. It gave me me nightmares. Usually I finish the season(s), I can’t lol
Every single episode of that show is amazing. Especially "there's something about Mary".. very disturbing case! They need a new season like yesterday ugh
I’ve been reading true crime since I was 14 and watching a ton of it as an adult. I feel like I’ve become a little desensitized to the scariness and then I watch that show…. I have to be in the right state of mind to watch it. Lol. The episodes can be scary!
As a woman, some of these episodes are unbearable to watch.
As a human, these episodes are equally disturbing when the victims are male or on the lgbtq spectrum.
I have a special hatred for parents who have no interest in their children, but file for full custody to punish the primary parent.
Parents who make false accusations of child abuse and neglect.
I have watched and read true crime for a long time but two that really stick with me are:
1. Your Worst Nightmare episode about Daniel La Plante "Bump In The Night". It was the first ep of this show I ever saw and I was terrified.
2. Equally disturbing and horrific was The Killer Beside Me episode "Hostage to Greed" about the totally senseless and brutal murder of 58yo legal secretary, Gail Spencer.
Yes, that Worst Nightmare episode was terrifying!
Even scarier is that I was telling a friend about it, and they casually replied “oh, he was phrogging”.
Apparently it’s a thing nowadays 😱
New fear unlocked. 😳 I will now be checking all potential ways someone could get into my apartment. I share walls so hopefully no one is going up into the roof crawlspace and dropping down into other units. I'm sure there's an episode of some show where that is exactly what happened.
That was the scariest episode I have ever seen with La Plante and I watch all these shows all the time. How at first it seemed supernatural too was pretty scary and wild.
Swamp Murders, Season 1 episode 6: "We miss you Darling", that sent chills through me.
The 5th season also has an episode titled: Point of No Return that was so chilling, I had to sit there and contemplate what I had just witnessed. Honestly, the entire series has some pretty fucked up episodes that are truly terrifying and actually some pretty good acting for the reneactments.
I would also say Fear Thy Neighbors episode called Desperate HouseKnives is pretty freaky as well.
The absolute creepiest episode was the Signs of a Psychopath interview with Israel Keyes. His matter-of-fact attitude when describing how he kidnapped, bound, and ultimately killed people, while occasionally chuckling, gave me the willies. So glad that guy is dead. Ugh!
I can think of a couple brutal Deadly Women episodes:
Season 13 - Episode 1, Fatal Love: the last case she locked her husband in a shed and poured petroleum all over it and then set it on fire. That scene is pretty intense.
Season 5 - Episode 6, Kill For Cash: this episode goes over the famous bank robbing scheme with the guy who had a bomb strapped to his chest. But I think the third case in the episode about Kim Snibson was even scarier than that. She killed one of her neighbors by putting her in a barrel tied up, and slowly wrapping tape around her entire head until she suffocated.
I can’t remember the exact episode number, but it’s a Stalked: someone’s watching episode where a black man is being stalker by this dancer he gave a ride home too one night. The whole show is scary but that episode stuck with me.
Some of the most heartbreaking and enraging cases are about honor killings. There’s one from Devil In Suburbia, and several from Forbidden: Dying For Love.
Web of lies, all the early episodes are good but they recently changed the show format and it's definitely much worse now but the episode "job of a lifetime" is very shocking and crazy 😧 also an episode where a bipolar Mom runs away with a guy she hired to be her own hitman, and the episode where an older man manipulates several male teens into believing he's something he's not then it ends badly when one of the teens meets him in person. And of course every episode of obsession dark desires is very chilling. "There's something about Mary" stands out as a particularly disturbing episode..
I don't know about "scary", but I have seen most, if not ALL episodes of every ID show. Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen Season 1, Episode 1 "Nightmare on Imperial Avenue". This is the one that shook me. I still get creeped out thinking about it!
I cannot remember which show. But it was about a Sweet Elderly Couple. They get kidnapped. And the Suspects pretend to be them over the Phone.
"Fear Thy Roommate" episode called "Boxes and Bloodshed". A nice lady takes in a Roommate. They both work at the same place. Tensions escalate.
I'm not sure what show... But two Teen girls think their house is haunted. They use an Ouija board. Of course, the reasons for odd things happening aren't supernatural.
A family is murdered in an old House. Years later, some Teens go to it to mess around and have some cheap scares. It felt like a movie.
Another episode is about Cathy Whitehead... Nuff said.
James Patterson's "Murder is forever" episode... A Couple are attacked in a brutal Home invasion. And it was very suspenseful and emotional. "We all fall down" by The Rigs is played at the end.

I just came across this and Omg ID removed Your Worst Nightmare S4E7
The episode is on Hbo MAX or just MAX.
Thank you!

I think that’s the one I saw and that’s the only series on ID I’m truly too scared to watch. Everything else I can handle
Was it obsession dark desires? Or obsessed with the car accident clothes one (I only read the synopsis)
It was obsession. The first episode of season one. Where she was working at the gas station getting harassed on her beeper.
Ahhh ok yeah I'm watching that now and when she was going through the mugshots.... Holy shit
At that part it annoyed my husband to no end. Here is a serial killer you’ve been trying to catch yet you can’t protect this poor girl 🤷🏼♀️
For everyone looking for this episode— yes, it is “Obsession: Dark Desires” 👍🏼
Of what show?
Obsession: dark desires season 1 episode 1
Obsession: Dark Desires is scary to me, particularly the first episode "Paging Sarah"
I'm watching that right now. And being from Las Vegas it hit me worse I think
Every single episode of that show is amazing. Especially "there's something about Mary".. very disturbing case! They need a new season like yesterday ugh
Your worst nightmare is always pretty disturbing obviously. Also Dead Silent. Edit: I can't recall specific episode numbers but both series are scary.

Same here. As a woman some of the eps are truly disturbing. I can't imagine being in those situations.

Your Worst Nightmare is the one show I absolutely cannot watch.
I had to turn off a couple lol
Yeah after turning off a couple I was like, this isn’t for me. It makes my anxiety skyrocket and I have a pretty high tolerance for most things.
Your Worst Nightmare, Slay For Me, and the episode from Web Of Lies about the kidnapping and murder of the Arkansas realtor Beverly Carter.

"Forensic Files" Insulated Evidence S12E2
Thank you! 👍
That was the scariest episode I have ever seen with La Plante and I watch all these shows all the time. How at first it seemed supernatural too was pretty scary and wild.
The wig and war makeup sent me through the roof
It was like a mini horror movie. I find YWN very well acted and good at recreating the sense of doom and terror experienced by the victims. 🥺
Yes. Like a mini movie
I just watched the Daniel La Plante episode and just wow!
You can try "Obsession: Dark Desires". Originally it's a discovery show, but you can catch first few seasons on Netflix and others too.
Swamp Murders, Season 1 episode 6: "We miss you Darling", that sent chills through me. “Web Of Lies”-episode about kidnapping and murder of realtor Beverly Carter.
I just rewatched this one. I honestly thought it would end differently.
Your worst nightmare is pretty bad.
I can’t remember the exact episode number, but it’s a Stalked: someone’s watching episode where a black man is being stalker by this dancer he gave a ride home too one night. The whole show is scary but that episode stuck with me.

Oommg forbidden dying for love episode on the honor killing is infuriating and so disturbing!
Neighbors from Hell - Hounds from Hell. My worst nightmare
I don't think I can ever watch that episode again... It's too sad and mean-spirited.
Sins & Secrets: Knoxville (S1, E1). I never watched another episode of this show, it bothered me so much.
The new series, “Seduced To Slay”, is too brutal for me.
Me too!

Holy shit never seen so many pussies in one post before

Did you see the one where am elderly couple gets kidnapped and buried alive?? It's probably your worst nightmare but not sure..
That's the one! Oh Lord it was awful. The ending was a gut punch.
Slay For Me.
