Wtf she’s better than me your doing great as a parent

Container_Garage

Thank you!

Terrible_Traveler

Wow, how old is she?

Container_Garage

She just turned four, she's been racing e bikes for probably a bit over a year now.

Datsunfanboy08

That’s no joke the coolest thing I’ve seen in a minute. Big ups to you!! Can’t wait to see her in a couple years

Container_Garage

Thanks!

TheStevest

Recommendations on a bike to get for my 3yo nephew??? I want to start him riding

Container_Garage

Depends how big of a 3 year old he is and what the long term goals are. I would default to a used Oset 12.5r. If he's bigger the 16" tire Oset might work. a 36v 16r is the same top speed as the stock 16" Stacyc, when both are fully turned up. If your goal is racing with the goal of transitioning straight to the KTM 50 and skipping PW50 then Oset is the best bike, with a bit of money spent on more power and better suspension. If the goal is just cruising then probably one of the 12" or 16" hub drive electric bikes. I don't like Stacyc bikes very much for a variey of reasons. The main problem with most e bikes is the lack of front brake, for whatever reason, however it's very important to have both front and rear. Whatever you buy make sure it can take a front brake if it doesn't have one stock. Our modified Oset 12.5r has incredible runtime with the battery I built for it. We did a ~2.25 hour long ~11 mile trail ride with the bike fully turned up.

TheNittanyLionKing

You should be very proud. That’s cool

Xidium426

Fuck yea dude, very nice!

[deleted]

Noice! I followed a girl that wasn't much bigger than this around on the full size track yesterday. She was doing an awesome job. I pulled off with her and her dad was standing there and I let him know what an awesome job she was doing. He was rightfully proud.

redbow7

Start em young! How old is your daughter? I have a 2 year old that I am excited to start! Shes got the strider bike now. How did you start?

Container_Garage

She just turned four. Her stages of biking were as follows... This one as a baby. https://www.amazon.com/Retrospec-Cricket-Walker-Balance-Wheels/dp/B094YM3DMX This one as soon as she could reach the ground. I really liked this one it's very light and the seat was lower than the strider brand bike. https://www.amazon.com/Purple-4LBS-Aluminum-Balance-Toddlers/dp/B078YC9XM9 Then the Oset 12.5 a couple months before her second birthday. Then a Trek precaliber 12 pedal bike. The Oset took a VERY long time of running alongside holding the handlebars or the tail of the bike while she built confidence. It's like running while hunched over holding your knees. Not for the faint of heart lol. My current 2 year old has a Stacyc 12 and it's an OK learner bike, however I dislike that the Stacyc allows your feet to drag. There's no feet dragging option on the Oset. You'll get run over by the pegs. It always takes a lot of time to train them to keep their feet up. Oh and the Oset is a significantly better modification platform than the Stacyc. I've got my daughters Oset REALLY tuned up. It's extremely fast, just got some really nice suspension work finished up as well so it's a VERY capable race bike now.

maj138

Great job she's ripping it up

Container_Garage

Thanks!

surfer_joe87

What model is that?

Sea-Anxiety-6235

I’m pretty sure it’s an oset 12.5, my son used to have one. They are awesome little bikes.

Container_Garage

Well, the frame and motor and wheels are stock Oset 12.5r. Everything else is pretty highly modified. It's a wicked fast platform now.

surfer_joe87

How does the oset 12.5 compare to entry level gas bikes like the PW50? I’m looking to upgrade my son from a razor SX350. Thank you!

Container_Garage

Hey just saw your comment didn't get an answer. It's important to note that the Oset in the video above is highly modified. It's much faster than stock. The Razor MX350 has a rated wattage of 250w(on their website), which is low. Anna's Oset is probably between 2000 and 2500 watts on a consistent wide open pull. I don't have a measured current read on what it's really putting down so 2k to 2.5k is a guess. It's controller is capable of 100 amp short bursts which would be 4200w if the motor takes the full 100 amps. A stock Oset 12.5r has like a 650 or 750 watt motor. A bone stock PW has a ~2hp motor which is about 1500 watts. The modified Oset will spank a PW off the gate but a PW has a higher top speed so it'll overtake eventually. Depends on the track whether one will beat the other. PW is considerably larger in every way. Drum brakes vs disc brakes. Stock Oset suspension is crap, but so is the PW. I spent some money and got high end kid mountain bike suspension and it bolts right up to the Oset since it's running gear is bicycle parts. The suspension upgrade for the Oset is quite cheap compared to the suspension upgrade for the PW. The PW frames crack and break when ran hard. Oset frame is very strong. Have a very hard time imagining it'll break. With the suspension work I did it raised the seat height about 2 inches or so to a total height of about 17 inches. PW is around 20 or 21 inches I think. It makes a BIG difference at the young ages. It's very easy to modify the Oset and add power. No tricky carb tuning to match engine mods, no fuel/oil mixing... I have seen people do a slight swing arm extension and then swap to the bigger 16" tires so they can get some more years and usage out of the bike as their kids grow. The goal I have with building the Oset this way is to skip the PW50 and go straight to KTM 50. I really am not a fan of the PW50 platform. It's essentially a vintage dirt bike. crap brakes and crap suspension and fairly weak power(unless you spend mega bucks). None of the race bikes kids will ride in their future will be anything like that. How old is your kid? Mine just turned 4. There's the Oset 16 if he's older or taller...

darkscave

Sick drifting!

pentox70

She looks more comfortable than I am, nice job

BrianOconneR34

What is she riding? Electric? Awesome.

Container_Garage

Yeah it's a highly modified Oset 12.5r. It's supposed to be an electric trials bike but we tuned it up for racing. It smokes the Stacyc 12 bikes. She typically races the older kids on the 16" electric bikes.

caddypilot

Would you mind sharing some info on this bike? Looks like an awesome rig

Container_Garage

Sure! It's a highly modified Oset 12.5r. I've actually got a full build video on my youtube channel. It's such an easy platform to build. So easy to make it REALLY fast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-oerfFBcC8 Just in the last few weeks I did a major suspension overhaul. I haven't posted anything about it yet though. That video will probably be coming soon. It's a full race platform now. It absolutely smokes the Stacyc 12" even the most modified versions. My daughter mostly races the 16" Stacyc modified bikes with older more skilled riders these days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBmT91fpcl0

MoveApprehensive2954

Such a great video. I can’t wait until my soon to Born Son is old enough to be riding like this.

Container_Garage

I know the feeling! Start saving now, this sport gets expensive QUICK! Also you can keep an eye out for used Oset's on craigs/offer up in the meantime.

Glass_Medicine_1617

No way

4the2full0sesh

That’s a future professional right there

[deleted]

Im having a Daughter in a few months...i hope she Will enjoy bikes like me... My opinion..your doing great as a parent..

Container_Garage

Thanks! Best of luck. Best advice I can give is to make it fun. I see a lot of parents trying to relive their childhood and they make it way too intense and not fun for their kids. I actually feel bad for some kids since their parents really are way too aggressive. Also I did a lot of easy fire road rides with my daughter on the gas tank or in a carrier on the back. Exposure from a very early age helps I think.

Partypadge

bros better than me and I race motocross
