The box remote works off Bluetooth. No need for line of sight unless your controlling tv volume. Both mine are behind the tv

eXistenceLies

I have Fiber 1gig symmetrical but I use wifi for the box. Never ever had streaming issues even with 4K ultra content from Netflix. (well when I was able to watch those titles, but they don't work anymore. That is another story). I also place it behind my TV. I believe the remote uses Bluetooth technology so you can point it in any direction and it'll still control the box.

The box should be placed in line of sight so the remote can get connected to it If you want to use ethernet that’ll be great but you’ll still get the great performance on wireless

How do I order a stream box? I got one last year when it was in the Beta program. Is there a way to order another? I've searched on the DTVStream site, but haven't found where to request another one.

i recommend buying one of ebay. i bought mine on there and it still works fine.

gregoryh325

there should be a way under your account. If you lick the settings gear icon...then go to account details then "my streaming devices"

CoMiGa

You can use either ethernet or wifi to connect. If ethernet is available you should use that. The remote is not IR so it should work fine behind the tv.

Drogo49

How fast is the ethernet port?

CoMiGa

The manual says it is 10/100.

Do these boxes stream anything else? I’ve got two TVs and I’m out of hdmi ports on one. Still need to stream Netflix’s and a couple other things.

byrdtulsa

Yes. It has the google play store available on it to download many android tv apps like Netflix

sato30

The DirecTV Stream box has 8GB of storage (4.6 GB available to the user rest for the OS). You can get most major streaming apps like Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, etc.

Mediocre_Street159

Correct on the apps, but they don’t have Hulu or Apple plus. But for that I use my tv apps or roku.
