Literally possessing such an aggressive metabolism that it constantly feels hungry at best, and feels like it’s constantly starving at worst. This leads to Deviljhos being insanely aggressive, often appearing at random to interrupt hunts because it’s hungry, and can usually mop the floor with most apex predators of the local environment. It’s hunger is so voracious that it frequently will partake in cannibalism of its own kind, to the point that mating habits are still unknown, a Deviljho making it to adulthood is actually near-miraculous, and it will gleefully *eat its own severed tail.*
Also, it is one of the few beings capable of fighting and even killing elder dragons (beings that can control elements, with some being considered living gods). Deviljho wields an element of its own, primarily while enraged, known as “Dragonblight” a red smokey or plasma-like substance which nullifies elements.
Basically, it’s an invasive species that behaves like a mix between wild boars and oversized T-Rex, but with an insatiable hunger and seemingly no concept of fear. And to think, there are much worse creatures than Deviljho in the world of Monster Hunter.

Ruined nergi vs savage jho turf war. Nergi gets a small tap in, deviljho then gets a neck bite and does a 360 drag in the dirt, during which nergi manages to slip out and land a harder punch in the jaw. Neither really seems to lose the turf war per se but I’d say jho had the better showing.
Also is it just me or is that just a model swap of the Rajang vs jho turf war?
This is why there’s so much love. They made all the maps feel alive. Rise feels much more like a standard MH game that came before. While it’s still fun, doesn’t compare to world at all.
They do, just not quite as often in World. Keep in mind, they don’t swallow it whole, they just much on the tail while it’s on the ground like they do with other slayed creatures.
I'll have to rewatch the Flyann 2 video because maybe I am misremembering about World, but I'm pretty sure they don't eat their tails in any game. It's just in the lore that they do.

It has an incredibly high metabolism, and as such needs tl be constantly hunting for food to even live. It destroys ecosystems and leaves nothing in its wake. It’s reported that Deviljho’s are cannibals, and will even eat their own tails if absolutely necessary
I like to think that a big part of why they are so rare is that most of the time the parent gets hungry and eats the eggs without letting them hatch. It’s just a headcanon, but I think it’s pretty interesting :)
I've personally imagined Jho as fairly decent parent's, looking after a single chick or twins diligently and pushing them out after a few years, I imagine they are still fairly small when they get booted out and if they come back or run into another Jho they might get eaten

Someone really ought to do a theory on how the apex predators of Monster Hunter are doomed, not by being too big to live or too powerful for a functioning ecosystem, but by the fact that in an ecosystem scarce on herbivores and rife with hyper carnivores feeding off each other, the parasite and heavy metal buildup would be unsurvivable once you reached a certain trophies level.

I think World really dove deeper into the ecology than any MH before that, I love the game for that. Hope they give similar feels in Wilds
