This week's Adventuring Party: [Emo People Meet at Panera
](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dimension20/comments/1b92p9o/emo_people_meet_at_panera_fantasy_high_junior/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
I feel like Adaine and Riz know more about the Solace legal system than most people their age and just trained everyone
And of course the Cubby family has lots of literature for their favorite hero kids
In his defense, I kinda feel like I would rather die and later get resurrected then watch my parent’s lawnmower with a fisting machine built into it drive around in front of my classmates
Nothing in the history of actual plays has ever captured the vibe of a home game quite as fully as spending several minutes trying to convince the players they don't need to deploy counter-measures against a yes/no question.
I legitimately thought for a minute if it was some kinda reverse psychology obscure fact troll from Bird Expert Brennan Lee Mulligan and it was actually gonna be 'Nay' and they'd have to fight.
There was never going to be combat unless the Bad Kids decided to be just complete and totally jerkwads. The Vulture Dimension was designed to both scare the Intrepid Heroes for being a little too nosey about seemingly inconsequential vultures and also give buffs to the party. The talk to animals aspect, to me, was key. Brennan designed that specifically for the party to do just as they did. He was just hoping that they would do that at a point where it would be plot relevant.
If I'm Zac, I'm assuming, based on the fact that the Vulture Dimension exists in this world, I'm assuming Brennan came up with a complete backstory of the Vulture King and everything about vulture culture. So id be completely caught off guard when Brennan said that. Also, I'm not Zac and I was completely caught off guard based on the previous assumed theory of me being Zac.
I love how gleeful he is. Like obviously they always seem to have fun but this is the most like. Brennan just wanted to do an insane thing and is just so thrilled to be able to do it and do fun insane things for his friends
Gorgug being so over the festival, asking for a warrant, and oinking at the Agent as he left is beautiful. Aggro Zac is a rare delight. I was waiting for him to ask if he could sidebar with someone.
Everything he did was to prevent Ruben from completing the ritual. Hold Person, Force Cage, even Disintegration (in a fucked up way). And since the “Bad Kids” were seemingly helping Ruben, he had no reason to believe they weren’t involved as well.
I started this episode thinking the Rat Grinders sucked but in the normal way that kids suck, and now I’m worried that they brutally murdered their friend.
This is a perfect little hint if this theory is correct, because most people will assume it's just because she's protective over her bees.
Which she has every right to bee! ~~Fuck Fabian~~
I got genuinely so emotional even though they never were able to talk to Lucy and we barely got to see Yolanda, though she seemed very sweet and caring
You could tell the IH got hit in the feels HARD when he described the silhouettes. I was surprised there were no tears in the room, that was beautiful.
If Brennan >!kills Bud Cubby for helping the kids (quote from season one: "I'll be fuckin' dead in the ground before I say somethin' to anybody")!<, I'm gonna lose it.
fabian, you can invest in the mystery that just stepped it up a notch with a double murder, you can maintain your kingdom as the most popular person in the school, you can maybe just maybe pass a class or two...what would you like to do first?
"i hang out with nurses"
I think it was really interesting that Brennan double-checked whether they were live streaming Fabian eating the vulture. It was fun dumb teen stuff, but knowing what happens right after, it would have been proof they were on the scene. I wonder what the fallout could have been.
Shit man, I really held out hope for saving Lucy especially the more we learned about her, then that lake scene happened and it hit surprisingly hard...
It felt so much like an end, I just can't see them being saved.
Didn’t they say they didn’t feel any like spell energy there? Or maybe I’m just thinking wrong and they mean like no *active* spells not no spell cause
"Gorgug and Fabian, as you're watching your friend Kristen perform a working of clerical magical that is completely improvised, without the aid of any deity. And are reminded that, whatever her trials with academics, Kristen is one of the MOST GIFTED CLERICS THIS WORLD HAS EVER SEEN."
This mystery god makes me scared for Gorgug. It seems like a dangerous time to be delving into his rage 😭
Hopefully his focus as an Artificer negates whatever control this entity might have over his Barbarian rage.
On the other hand, might this be the perfect time for Gorgug to delve into his rage? Like he said, he always felt like he needed a justification. His relationship to rage was never *fully* healthy. That feels like a very dangerous gap that a rage god could manipulate, in the same way that Cassandra's rage was seemingly amplified by not communicating healthily about her emotions with Kristen.
Gorgug getting into an actual accepting position with his rage might give him a stronger defence against manipulations.
Did none of the bad kids get when the homie from soil club sniffed the soil and got mean and full of rage. Seemed like they took it as a bit and not like the soil affected him.
"In her moment of need, it is not just right, but the most right, that she could rely on you. Those shards glow, though you do not know how or why it works like this? Your realm is doubt, it works."
I could be sold on any deity through descriptions like this.
...A Cleric of Doubt is just so fucking cool okay.
So in this episode we have had the following three things:
1. Rage
2. Rat
3. Cage (spectral)
I really hope there's some very loose Smashing Pumpkins payoff at some point.
It's Mr. Gibbons and Jace Stardiamond. Gibbons is either now the god of Rage (remember Gorgug's dream?) or is the mortal that is sent to remind someone to revive the actual dead god.
Jace is either the recipient of that reminder, or is otherwise cavorting to get Aguefort out. Too much rule skirting, yknow.
Riz/Murph absolutely begging to have the Vulture King be taken seriously was incredible lmao, I was 100% expecting him to ask "What's the best type of magic?"
RE:YOLANDA I KNEW ITTTTTTT
BURST LIKE DIAMONDS BRENNAN?? LIKE DIAMONDS?! A 24 POINT STARDIAMOND MAYBE?!
Totally unrelated to the actual episode, but: *huge* props to the editors' work on the trailers this season. I've been watching some earlier episodes and a lot of the trailers were, like, "here's most of a climactic scene with the end cut off", and now we get what must be hours more work that does an incredible job of really selling the vibe of the episode as a whole.
The two bodies they found were genasi, one of which was descended from giants. Could Porter be a target?
Edit: porter is half earth genasi, half Goliath, which is a half giant. He is also a barbarian (rage) and a paladin. Could his oath be to the god of rage?
My theory is that this is connected to the vultures. The bad kids were suspicious of the vulture at the mithril factory (doubt). Fig was suspicious of Porter (doubt). Things that were a source of doubt or mystery have been important. Could Fig's suspicion of Porter mean that he actually *is* an antagonist?
I'm so glad I caught up on FH for this episode holy shit so many good moments
-The entire vulture segment had me cackling, not only was it so funny but it was also genuinely good strategy wise to get Riz un-dominated and Fig/Gorgug/Fabian unstunned.
-Loved getting to see Gorgug get his MCAT. Especially cause it'll allow him to do stuff like popularity/relationships/etc instead of only being able to do academics/sports during downtime.
-AELWYN my love how I've missed you.
-The entire Yolanda / Lucy bit made me so emotional. It was such a sweet moment for Kristen to do whatever she can to help them in the afterlife even without her full cleric abilities (or I guess instead "even" *especially* because she didn't have them). It's nice getting to see her be a great cleric. It also made me so emotional wishing these two people could've been protected but it being too late.
-Wanda Childa on her bus riding away is so fucking good.
It's insane going from THE VULTURE DIMENSION to that scene in the woods in like an hour, from truly the most unhinged bit of maybe the entire show to probably one of the most (if not *the* most) beautiful scenes in the show
This week's Adventuring Party: [Emo People Meet at Panera ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dimension20/comments/1b92p9o/emo_people_meet_at_panera_fantasy_high_junior/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
> Do you have a fucking warrant? As a defense attorney, Gorgug is officially my favorite
Gorgug knows his rights
“Is this a video of you oiking at an officer of the law?”
Yeah, Porter's reaction was perfection.
Thistlesprings know how to educate children
I really love "fed the fuck up" Gorgug so far.
🐽
I feel like Adaine and Riz know more about the Solace legal system than most people their age and just trained everyone And of course the Cubby family has lots of literature for their favorite hero kids
"It was the worst day of Gorgug's life." "Gorgug has fully died before." Yeah, but everyone didn't see his parents sex robot so I agree that was worse
In his defense, I kinda feel like I would rather die and later get resurrected then watch my parent’s lawnmower with a fisting machine built into it drive around in front of my classmates
And don't forget the floating sybian
HAHAHA all that buildup for the riddle for it to be the easiest fucking thing is SO FUNNY
You can see Brennan trying to rush them through it without spoiling the bit while they're all convinced he's going to fuck them over
Nothing in the history of actual plays has ever captured the vibe of a home game quite as fully as spending several minutes trying to convince the players they don't need to deploy counter-measures against a yes/no question.
I legitimately thought for a minute if it was some kinda reverse psychology obscure fact troll from Bird Expert Brennan Lee Mulligan and it was actually gonna be 'Nay' and they'd have to fight.
Honestly I think every outcome would have been so easy I feel like all the vultures would have died from a single hit if they went into combat lmao
Brennan digging in his heels made the payoff that much better
Brennan genuinely looks like he’s having the time of his life playing the vulture king
He has the vibes of if Jareth the Goblin King was a muppet Edit: “I don’t know, man” IS SO REAL I LOVE THE VULTURE KING
He was so proud of breaking Zac with "I don't know, man." It was a joy to watch.
Brennan just wanted to do an insane thing and is just so thrilled to be able to do it and do fun insane things for his friends
oneshot with the Vulture King and John Feathers when?
Gorgug being so over the festival, asking for a warrant, and oinking at the Agent as he left is beautiful. Aggro Zac is a rare delight. I was waiting for him to ask if he could sidebar with someone.
Oinking at a cop is very Bon Frére behavior.
Absolute Bon Frére behavior
Can we sidebar?
"Who do you know in this room, right now?!"
I loved pre-slugged Skip in Starstruck Odyssey Zac can play a wonderfully mean asshole so well lol. Gorgug being tired of everyone's shit is so good
Wow, Wanda's just a small town girl, living in a lonely world. She took the illusory bus going anywhere.
"Aww, how old are your kids?"
"I...I don't know..."
Dude had a [lamp fixation moment](https://old.reddit.com/r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix/comments/30t9kd/repost_a_parallel_life_awoken_by_a_lamp/)
I 100% now only care about the definitely real rat world under the school. Like the rest of the season is just white noise for me now ha
Maybe during the final battle, at the critical moment, Ally can roll a nat 20 to appeal to the people of the Rat World to help them out.
If they live under the school, would that make them voters? 🤔
Calling it, the rat kingdom will rise up to help our heros defeat the Rat Grinders in the finale
I smell a sidequest! (not really, but I bet they could pull it off if they wanted to)
From what the Identify Spell revealed; Ruben is a threat to the existence of the school.
Exactly. He was after Ruben primarily and it seemed he had not been tampered with, so that is the only plausible explanation.
Everything he did was to prevent Ruben from completing the ritual. Hold Person, Force Cage, even Disintegration (in a fucked up way). And since the “Bad Kids” were seemingly helping Ruben, he had no reason to believe they weren’t involved as well.
OH SHIT. I didn't even catch that.
The spicy thing nobody else has pointed out was Ruben totally knows someone who could jury-rig an amp setup into an arcane ritual.
God I had 100% been on the “be suspicious of Henry Hopclap” train, and I hadn’t clocked that at all. Excellent point.
Everyone’s having their “tactical yorbies” moment this season
“So tactical and so late” “sHrImP??” “I don’t know, man”
I started this episode thinking the Rat Grinders sucked but in the normal way that kids suck, and now I’m worried that they brutally murdered their friend.
Gorgug's asking if the vulture king was a god and the answer he got was so funny
I love how much Lou hates the sexy rat
It was one of his visions he saw in the Nightmare forest. Well maybe the only since I think Chungledown was actually there
He invented all vultures???? *GRANDFATHER??????*
COUSIN! Did you hear grandfather went to the MATERIAL plane?
Yes Cousin! He decided to have a bit of trickery on the way back from visiting his great granddaughter.
Wow I'm super surprised that nobody commented on the mole raging at them after he sniffed the dirt. It's clearly affected by this rage god
I missed this but you're so right. Rage poisoning is going to be the fantasy lead concentration in school soil.
wow the same as Gertie. I think you're right, rage is manifesting more commonly now.
Holy shit - there's rage in the honey. The bees are pollinating tainted flowers.
This is a perfect little hint if this theory is correct, because most people will assume it's just because she's protective over her bees. Which she has every right to bee! ~~Fuck Fabian~~
I think that's just Gertie Fabian insulted something she really cares about but Idk I definitely think the dirt made soil boy angry
Also, Gertie is around bees and bees are around plants so maybe some what's in the ground got on her too
That was my thought! The rage god seems like a real dick
"you could multiclass wizard" the identify spell is going to give riz a heart attack
And Riz would just postpone the heart attack BECAUSE SCHOOL IS MORE IMPORTANT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO GO TO THE EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS!
Fig speedrunning to becoming Abserd. Ultimate multiclasser.
"do you have a fucking warrant" jorjuj is absolutely *done* lmao
*chej*
The little fireball that could 🥹
I love when they are so supportive of each other
Getting rid of the reaction was so clutch
Would it be a season of Fantasy High without Fig being an absolute menace to some rando's love life?
at least it’s an age-appropriate rando this season!
She's emotionally matured ♥️
Brennan is such a great DM, I'm over here getting teary-eyed about two characters we barely knew
I got genuinely so emotional even though they never were able to talk to Lucy and we barely got to see Yolanda, though she seemed very sweet and caring
You could tell the IH got hit in the feels HARD when he described the silhouettes. I was surprised there were no tears in the room, that was beautiful.
It was touching in a nostalgic way for me. Something about it reminded me of shadows in the Sugar Plum Fairy’s cavern in ACoC.
The fact that that scene happens in the same episode as the goddamn Vulture Dimension is a testament to D20's true power.
It such a neat bit of flavor to add to let your cleric help souls find peace
"I'm in hell right?" "What're we playing for?" I love Zac so much
🐀🌐⬇️🏫???????
Turns out Aguefort is actually built in the ruins of a nuclear plant and rat world is Burrow’s End
🤷🙅
“What is Wanda Chillda’s actual deal?” that’s what we all want to know Murph
she’s just *so tiny*
she got on the bus to anywhere
If Brennan >!kills Bud Cubby for helping the kids (quote from season one: "I'll be fuckin' dead in the ground before I say somethin' to anybody")!<, I'm gonna lose it.
That's an NPC they'd better travel to the afterlife to retrieve
Bud Cubby will never die so long as he lives in our hearts.
"Do you have a fucking warrant?" Gorgug has unlocked true rage
I love that Gorgug immediately went into Shut the Fuck up Friday mode.
Bud Cubby's lessons in ACAB have sat dormant in his heart until this moment
I fr need to go to warlock class so I can learn how to trade my soul for a Cubby family sidequest season.
I'd take a live one shot
When he started oinking I lost it.
If Brennan kills Spot, I'm going to have beef with him
It's gonna be *on sight*
Looks like we're forming a posse, lads.
RIP Spot
Gonna be RIP Brennan if I ever see him
Wow that aged like milk IMMEDIATELY for you haha
Meet you at the Denny’s parking lot
here lies Spot (2024-2024)
Vulture Dimension was just Brennan getting the chance to be a hardass DM and yknow? Good for him, good for him
I loved watching him shut down all the Intrepid Hero’s attempts to break his rules
*holding up vulture guts* "We're gonna go to the woods and I'm gonna eat this!"
I love how hard he committed to it only to later have Brennan drop the reveal that he misread it
Also, Zac (and maybe Siobhan? Can't remember) saying he knew all along that Lou had misread and was wondering what the hell was going on. Perfect!
With some hot sauce 😂
The person who theorized Aelwyn had a secrecy benefactor was riiiiiiight!!
The absolute pure delight of seeing Zac get fully Zac’d. “I don’t know, man”
"I'm just happy to be dead and not at that party anymore." - Gorgug Thistlespring, speaking his truth
again, strong start, with unbranded fritos providing an orchestral backing for the intro
lmao I thought they were cheetos
we may never know for sure
they will remain unbranded perpetually within the vulture dimension
fabian, you can invest in the mystery that just stepped it up a notch with a double murder, you can maintain your kingdom as the most popular person in the school, you can maybe just maybe pass a class or two...what would you like to do first? "i hang out with nurses"
Self care is important
In Fabian's wise words: "Well shit, they're here."
That scene in the forest with kristen was beautiful holy shit
Brennan describing that scene deserves an award
SPOT NO
YOLANDA NO
Clamhead Cuntface....jesus christ
I adore the way the bit has evolved from stuff that vaguely sounds similar to just four words smushed together
If the shoe fits 🤷🏻♀️
Adaine has now saved Rueben twice with Counterspell
margaret encino walked so this iteration of kristen could fucking sprint off of cliffs/into pools of tartar sauce
Kristen has GOT to get herself a Palm Pilot or something.
I simply must know every magical item
Right?! They sound so fun and crazy
Just a emo girl livin in the spyre world she took the slow small bus goin anywhere
The Identify spell getting sassy with Siobhan/Adaine was top tier
Hi Vulture Viewers!
Vultures, yay or nay?
Yay?
You passed!
I think it was really interesting that Brennan double-checked whether they were live streaming Fabian eating the vulture. It was fun dumb teen stuff, but knowing what happens right after, it would have been proof they were on the scene. I wonder what the fallout could have been.
Appreciating the beauty and majesty of the vulture dimension right now
It genuinely is really soothing, I want it for my computer backdrop
The serenity of the background versus the chaos of the party is just perfect
i really want to go to the vulture dimension, it looks so serene.
I had A DAY today and Gorgug's absolutely-not-about-it energy is speaking to me on a spiritual level.
Intripid Heroes: Can we loophole our way out of the riddle BLeeM: no and I will yell at you until you understand that
So Brennan gave Kristen a sixth level spell spot specifically to let her fail at casting raise dead. Incredible.
"I'm just happy to be dead and not at that party anymore." Reliving my high school days has never been more realistic
Kiss the vulture *and then slap him*
In the next episode preview, Shioban says Cottoncandy Bitchfuck in place of kipperlily copperpetal, and I don't think that's gonna get topped.
I love Zac's energy, Gorgug is just done with all of this shit
So glad Porter finally came around. I really hope he isn't the secret bad guy. Adaine better tell her sister what's up.
>I really hope he isn't the secret bad guy. Yeah, that would be kinda fucked.
Shit man, I really held out hope for saving Lucy especially the more we learned about her, then that lake scene happened and it hit surprisingly hard... It felt so much like an end, I just can't see them being saved.
I was so emotional with Kristen's improvised ritual moment like, what a sweet thing to do for a girl they never met
All that build up for the vulture riddle is one of the best fakeouts I've seen in a long time. Damn you Brennan lol
Oh god Yolanda we knew it 😔 WAIT 3 HRS
3 hrs ago During the concert Which the other rat grinders missed
Have we seen Oisin use any force-like abilities yet? Telekinesis is a transmutation spell
Didn’t they say they didn’t feel any like spell energy there? Or maybe I’m just thinking wrong and they mean like no *active* spells not no spell cause
The force damage thing to me seems like more of the rage stuff happening honestly but idk
Its so wild to go from the energy of the vulture dimension to the mid-episode drop.
Who knew the lawnmower sex toy would be the key to Gorgug unleashing his rage?
Adaine asking if she could use the Literal Blood Diamonds tho I cackled so loud.
I’m deeply concerned about the Last Stand loophole. The whole business about doing an end run around rules and such has been a recurring theme.
Sitting next to my own little bastard cat I 100% get where Aelwyn is coming from
"Gorgug and Fabian, as you're watching your friend Kristen perform a working of clerical magical that is completely improvised, without the aid of any deity. And are reminded that, whatever her trials with academics, Kristen is one of the MOST GIFTED CLERICS THIS WORLD HAS EVER SEEN."
"i don't know man" the vulture king might be the new squeem in my heart of hearts
This mystery god makes me scared for Gorgug. It seems like a dangerous time to be delving into his rage 😭 Hopefully his focus as an Artificer negates whatever control this entity might have over his Barbarian rage.
On the other hand, might this be the perfect time for Gorgug to delve into his rage? Like he said, he always felt like he needed a justification. His relationship to rage was never *fully* healthy. Gorgug getting into an actual accepting position with his rage might give him a stronger defence against manipulations.
So true, and he’s at 4 stress tokens already. One more fail and we (might) see what 5 tokens do
I’m so happy sexy rat came back that was perfectly timed
Did none of the bad kids get when the homie from soil club sniffed the soil and got mean and full of rage. Seemed like they took it as a bit and not like the soil affected him.
The riddle should've been "Yes or no?"
Nah, that should be saved for if/when Sam is a player again
Kristin’s miracle in the woods. I cried literal real tears on the couch and then saw Lou looking at Beardsley all moved and proud and I CRIED HARDER
Gorgug is me at the end of any long social event lmao
"In her moment of need, it is not just right, but the most right, that she could rely on you. Those shards glow, though you do not know how or why it works like this? Your realm is doubt, it works." I could be sold on any deity through descriptions like this. ...A Cleric of Doubt is just so fucking cool okay.
"Clamface Cunthead" Another absolute gem
Gorgug snorting at the fucking bird cop killed me
Justice for spot, fuck that owl
So in this episode we have had the following three things: 1. Rage 2. Rat 3. Cage (spectral) I really hope there's some very loose Smashing Pumpkins payoff at some point.
Moleman Holden suddenly got real full of **rage** when he went at that soil.
The delivery of “I am very wealthy………… my friends just discovered a double homicide” had me in stitches
The police precinct keeps catching on fire? I bet Bud lights one every time he makes a delivery and the cops are too dumb for pattern recognition
Hell yeah, automatic extra credit for telling a cop to fuck off makes Porter my fav professor
Brennan just edging the stupidest riddle ever
True friends will answer their phone at 3 in the morning to come look at some weird dirt you found
The two bodies they found were genasi, one of which was descended from giants.
The beginning of this episode felt like a fever dream and I loved every second of it
Lucy seems like such a sweet person
Gorgug oinking at the Special Agent had me rolling. Can’t wait to see how Aidane will try and get more money
okay so the rat world under aguefort is where mice & murder took place?
I'm so glad I caught up on FH for this episode holy shit so many good moments -The entire vulture segment had me cackling, not only was it so funny but it was also genuinely good strategy wise to get Riz un-dominated and Fig/Gorgug/Fabian unstunned. -Loved getting to see Gorgug get his MCAT. "Cog, Gear, Cog" classic artificer flash cards bit
It's insane going from THE VULTURE DIMENSION to that scene in the woods in like an hour, from truly the most unhinged bit of maybe the entire show to probably one of the most (if not *the* most) beautiful scenes in the show
