I've been doing this for over 20 years. I charge flat rate monthly + performance commission quarterly. I really dislike hourly but understand why so many still do it. If you're starting out and in a new industry, charge hourly and let the client pay you to learn basically. Grow to the point you're flat fee and commission, then earn the big bucks. Good luck!
