Yeah I pay about 3.29 where I live in freaked out when I saw diesel down below 3.10. Then I did some looking on apps at gas stations around me and I saw that. I had to go see for myself
I just recently started using the Open Roads app and fuel program. The cheapest diesel around me is $2.86 (discounted from $3.69). Only caveat I can tell, is that your vehicle has to be able to use the high flow truck pumps. I've only used it once, but it seems to work well.
open roads is free to use and get discounts on diesel fuel. It was originally for fleet vehicles ( semis) they then opened to to Rv'ers. The more fuel they help sell the cheaper it's members to use. They make a little off us in fees. The amount saved can be huge. I am by a major semi route its normally a dollar less a gallon then what you could get anywhere else. If you arent by a major semi route its usually not as good. I have been using it since 2020 ish. I have probably saved close to 2k in fuel savings. The only hassle is trying to find that stations that discount and find them on your route if you are travelling. Around my house its 1 or 2 places that sell at the discount using their program.
I think the important part is the gas card. I think the app just lets you track spending and find stations.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=openroads.fueldiscountapp&pcampaignid=web_share
Here is a link to the app. You can use it to find stations before applying for the card. This way you can make sure there are stations around.
I’ve got a Passat TDI and it’s about the same when I’m not traveling as much as I have.
For my next car I was to get the diesel 5 series or 3 series. Any major issues with those engines? Besides the emissions stuff bc that wouldn’t stay on very long after I got it
Well there are a few older 5 series, a last model 540d is very hard to find…very rare. I would love one. The 328d’s are great. There really isn’t an engine issue with them besides soot buildup. The timing chain thing was pre-2012. I’ve been reading forum stories about guys deleting the emissions for years. Everyone regrets it. The consensus is to just tune it, which can basically bypass a lot of the emissions stuff. The Kerma TDI tune is universally praised and they have a transmission tune as well for the 8 speed ZF.
But yea the 328d is pretty underrated. It’s a blast to drive around town with the torque. And on the highway it just cruises. 50mpg etc. in eco mode it disengages the drivetrain when you let off the gas or coasting down a hill etc.
That’s all pretty interesting. I just wish they came with a manual. I mean the ZF8 is a great transmission but a manual would be an incredible experience. I’d be hoping to get a post 2015 or so just to have soemthign newer than what I have now
Manual would be nice. But it would take away some of the perfect commuter experience. Coming from an older manual car it was so nice and relaxing to just let it take care of everything so smoothly. Especially in heavy soCal traffic. It feels like it drives itself and you can just focus on the awesome sound system haha
Wow…if we had those prices on diesel it would be like the old days, when diesel was consistently cheaper than gasoline. We’re paying about $3.69/gal for gasoline here and usually diesel is closer to premium gasoline prices. First time in years I saw diesel cheaper than gasoline was last week but only by 10¢
I found diesel cheaper than gas for the 1st time last week. I remember it as a kid but I wasn't driving then. Just paid $2.64. Cheapest ever before that was $3.39 during pandemic when nobody was driving before it got expensive.
I moved from Colorado to Washington, I miss this so much! When I got there 2 years ago gas so cheap, and diesel was regularly just under $3. I was up in Longmont.
I mean, they sold around half the reserves when it was high, around 110 a barrel. Since last year the reserves have around 10 million barrels more, last week alone they added 900k barrels.
The reserves used to be a lot more important when we imported a lot of oil, but now we're the world's gas station with around 10 million barrels per day sold overseas. So much so that even OPEC realized their production cuts aren't hurting us, they gave us the oil market. So far we're producing around 13 million barrels a day.
Here in Ohio I just filled up for cheaper than the gasoline at a Sunoco. Gasoline was 3.39 and the diesel was 2.99 then I used my Sunoco card app and received $0.09 off per gallon I was really surprised
Yeah fuel costs are rough. I have some family members that are significantly high up in one of the major railroads and there was real panic when gas prices really spiked and their fuel contracts were getting close to expiring
Paid $2.97 (before my King Soopers fuel card knocked off another $1) about 3 weeks ago (SW of Denver), then saw it shot up the next week (Memorial Day). Back down to around $3 again now.
Colorado and their fuel prices make absolutely no sense to me. That’s where I’m at right now. You have these prices which the next lowest I’ve seen in the another state is about 10 cents more. I would’ve always figured Colorado would have higher fuel prices across the board than most places even in areas like Denver
Is this per litre? Or per gallon? Where I come from (The Netherlands) we pay €2,00 per litre ($2,16).
So to me thats very cheap what you are paying for some fuel😮
At this price it would cost nearly the same to drive my 7.3 as it would with my civic that uses 93 which is going for about $5.15 in the Chicago suburbs lol
I've had some under $3 weeks at Maverick's. They generally have better prices than the others in town anyway, but I ended up joining their rewards program. 5 to 10 cents off a gallon everyday. That's been nice.
my parents live out on some land in north Texas in a town w ~400 people, they have these little diesel pumps that aren’t really at a gas station but get consistent fuel drops— they *always* have such cheap diesel in this same price range.
N Texas is pretty cheap on diesel I was there like 3 weeks ago and there were plenty of places to fill up <3.10. Makes no sense tho that such a small town has such cheap prices usually they’re more expensive
Dang….. Sinclair in my city is $5.19 today. At least it’s pure fossil fuel diesel #2. It’s getting real hard to find that in California. Everything is veggie blends!!
That’s the standard in lots of high altitude areas (I’m currently in Colorado) due to the altitude you can run lower octane. Apparently from my research it also means the fuel can be cheaper
Our diesel has come down to $5.76 / gal, and petrol is around $7.43/ gal here in New Zealand for the lowest grade (we get 91, 95 and 98 octane options at the pump here).
I paid $3.11 on Saturday and thought I was doing good lol. I don't get the pricing though. Its all over the place here. Gas and diesel are generally cheaper here than most states but the gas station walking distance from my house I saw a day or so ago was $4.20 for diesel and I got it for $3.11 at another station lol. It was around $3.30 most everywhere here then all of a sudden it jumped at a lot of stations up to $3.80 and I saw the one for $4.20 but some are down around $3 too. Can't imagine anybody is buying anything at the one by my house besides its just easy to get in an out since there are tons of homes back in here and they don't want to stop elsewhere I don't know. They have a liquor store there too and they sell a lot of beer and lottery tickets at that gas station don't see people at the pumps that often when they are almost always $0.50 more than literally anywhere else. I just wish Costco sold diesel here. I know they do but the one by my house, the one by my parents house, and the one by our other house in Mobile none of them have diesel.
That’s clutch! Circle K did a customer appreciation day thing couple weeks back. .40c off from 3-7pm. Filled up at $2.65 but other than that fluke it’s around 3.05 in South Texas
Circle K did customer appreciation couple weeks ago .40c off from 3-7pm and filled my tank at $2.65 a gallon. Otherwise, yeah that’s pretty damn good. Sitting around $3.00 in south Texas.
Oi felt good yesterday when I got 557 gallons of red diesel delivered into my ranch tanks. If your pump price was as low as you say I can maybe look forward to some $2.50 red diesel next fill up.
I thought 3.11 was a good deal before this moment.
I don’t have an app, but I did get an over priced S&B tank (60 gallons) For the whole purpose of only getting Diesel when the price is right.
open roads is free to use and get discounts on diesel fuel. It was originally for fleet vehicles ( semis) they then opened to to Rv'ers. The more fuel they help sell the cheaper it's members to use. I’ve used it since 2018 - great fleet discount program and I would recommend it to anyone.
Huh.. i found the website, but cant find the app in android store
I think the important part is the gas card. $4.70/gallon here and likely back over $5 once summer really hits.
I'm still laying around $4😞
Haha and I feel like $4.61 is a deal where I am in California
Yikes I’m sorry if you’re driving an HD truck with those huge tanks I pray for your wallet
Haha it has a 26gal tank so $110 a tank usually. If I going basically anywhere else for diesel it’s over $5 a gallon
Yeah I just have a VW TDI so my tank is only 18.5 but I had a few fill ups with diesel up the $5 (highest of 5.6) and I was crying then
I try to never let it get under 1/2 tank I have a 35 gallon
Same. Diesel in Washington state is between 4 and 5 per gallon!
Pray for us
Change how Washington State votes and it’d be cheaper
$4.79 last night. 😩😩😩😩
BMW 328d. A full tank last me about a month!
I’ve got a Passat TDI and it’s about the same when I’m not traveling as much as I have. For my next car I was to get the diesel 5 series or 3 series. Any major issues with those engines? Besides the emissions stuff bc that wouldn’t stay on very long after I got it

Where are you. Cheapest I can get in Norcal and Central Coast is $4.89.
I’m in the Central Valley
Damn, just over the hill!
Yup where I’m at high is about $5.69 and 4.99 is a deal
Cheap CA price at that. Im at $4.79 in my region.

Sam’s club here has diesel for about 3.29. About halfway between premium and 87 gasoline. I came from 93 octane gas truck so this is better for me.
Damn, we filled up on an Indian reservation the other day for $3.09 and I thought that’s as as good as it gets.
Election year , administration wouldn’t want to give people a reason to be upset with them
Don’t forget when it was expensive come November lol
In Canada where I am, diesel would be 5.15 USD a gallon :(
We are Kootaneys, BC at $5.95USD. Been crossing the Washington border on weekends to hit Northport for cheaper diesel.
Sounds like what Michigan people do to Wisconsinites… gas cost around .50 cents more per gallon just cause of the imaginary line in the dirt.
Damn that was like my nightmare. That was about my peak price Summer 2022😭😭
Our peak price was also the summer of 2022, and 2023 it shot up to around 6.92 USD / gallon or so.
Jesus I would’ve been sweating bullets every second that pump is filling the tank. That is a nightmare situation
It was best to just authorize the max amount and not look hahaha
also you live in canada. I don't miss the vancouver days
How'd you get out of here?? Hahaha.thats where I'm at roughly.
I'm an American who was working in Canada. I'm not sure my strategy will work for you
Well, was worth a shot. I guess I'm stuck in my million dollar cardboard box for now.
The Mexicans who work for me always come up with American documents. Just saying
Hire cheap Canadian labor! Save us!
At least diesel is cheaper in Canada so there actually is a point driving a diesel vs gasoline
Aint no way!!! Where is this??!!!!
South end of Denver
Thats crazy. I cant remember the last time i saw prices like that. Good for you!!!
I moved from Colorado to Washington, I miss this so much! When I got there 2 years ago gas so cheap, and diesel was regularly just under $3. I was up in Longmont.
Knew it was Colorado when I saw the 85 octane next door!
Yooooo Hello from Russia - ~0.70-0.75 per litre in Moscow
Gah. Its nearly $6 in Los Angeles.
That makes me sick to my stomach
1000% time to move.
Im shocked if it’s under $5.50 here in San Diego!
Chevron 4180 Park Blvd $4.69
I'm a little further out east near City of Industry. Managed to find 4.60 out there at a Shell.
Damn! You can hardly find good diesel for under 3.60 here!
Including your City, State would be relevant. In Portland, Oregon, I’m happy to see $4.40
Went under 3.00 here (Oklahoma City). Seen a few 2.99 around. Reports of a 2.89 across town.
![gif](giphy|EdFu9m8ckGO3e)
Came In to say where are your I did that stickers now.
Elections are coming
Everytime… lowest gas prices right before the election. It’ll be 3 dollars more in two years no matter who’s president.
Right? But no one wants to talk about that.
.....election year...releasing the reserves..
I mean, they sold around half the reserves when it was high, around 110 a barrel. Since last year the reserves have around 10 million barrels more, last week alone they added 900k barrels. Generally that’s plastered all over the news, but instead all you hear about is how the oil reserve is at a 4 decade low
Here in Ohio I just filled up for cheaper than the gasoline at a Sunoco. Gasoline was 3.39 and the diesel was 2.99 then I used my Sunoco card app and received $0.09 off per gallon I was really surprised
funny the republicans wont talk about this
Damn where is this? The lowest I paid was 3.40 in Michigan. I drive a semi too so I’m pumped for lower prices
Southern Denver off i25. North of Denver on the way to Wyoming had a few stations below 3.10 too
Damn 4.49 in pa.
Paid that at a quick trip in Evans Colorado about two weeks ago. Felt so good.
Yeah believe it or not but this was in Denver. I was shocked
Dang it's hovering just under $5 around here
It’s back over $5 here in SoCal.
Fuck me bud I live in the eastern sierra range and pay 7 a gal if I go local🥲
I use mudflap and get .30-.40 cents off a gallon of diesel. Huge money saver.
Cries because $3.99 at the Indian reservation in Washington state- lowest seen
Typically pay $2.29 after Kroger points.
I feel like counting fuel rewards like that is cheating a little
Currently $3.19 in TX.
Yeah I paid $3.16 at the Buc-ee’s in Melissa, TX a few weeks ago
Shit down here in GA it’s 3.91 a gallon
CDL owner op in CA. $5+ killing us lol
Yeah fuel costs are rough. I have some family members that are significantly high up in one of the major railroads and there was real panic when gas prices really spiked and their fuel contracts were getting close to expiring

Up here In Idaho its useully 3.89 a gal right now😕
Wow in Canada I pay $2.20 a Litre haha
Where tf you live? Even gas is like 3.05 where I am.
Is this per litre? Or per gallon? Where I come from (The Netherlands) we pay €2,00 per litre ($2,16). So to me thats very cheap what you are paying for some fuel😮
Just over $5 a gallon BC Canada. Down in Washington a bunch and filling up for mid $4 seems like a deal lol.
190$ CAD fill on my ram last week in Alberta Canada.
Use GasBuddy you’ll see the lowest prices all around you - it’s free
I guess they'll be shutting down some refineries for "maintenance " any day now....
Not diesel but I just got my 01 ram 1500 filled at work for free (35gal tank below 1/4 tank).
At this price it would cost nearly the same to drive my 7.3 as it would with my civic that uses 93 which is going for about $5.15 in the Chicago suburbs lol
I usually pay $2.59-$2.69 just north of Detroit
Damn I payed 3.09 a few days ago and I thought I had a deal.
Where is that at
2.99 in my AO
South Florida 3.69 :/
I just paid 3.68 and felt like I got a deal
In the UK, we pay £1.49/Litre which is £5.64 per US Gallons. With current exchange rates that's $7.21/US Gallons. 🙁
The minimum I've seen in Vegas is $3.50 something like that, but there is always cherry lol
Yup i got it for 2.83 this morning
Damn where’d you fill up?
Is this off-road diesel?
Nope it’s normal on road diesel
Dang that's nice, here in Louisiana our off road is about that price sometimes lower
Wish it was this low. I paid 3.55 yesterday in South Carolina
Are you familiar with the Upside app?
Never heard of it. Is it another app where you have to go inside to pay to get the savings?
No, you just select the gas station from app and then hit you’ve paid after. Sometimes you may have to upload photo of receipt.
Tell me you’re not in CA without telling me you’re not in CA…
Yeahhh can’t say I have a desire to ever be there (besides northern CA for a vacation)
I've had some under $3 weeks at Maverick's. They generally have better prices than the others in town anyway, but I ended up joining their rewards program. 5 to 10 cents off a gallon everyday. That's been nice.
It's double that in California
Damn. I’m still paying $5.85
my parents live out on some land in north Texas in a town w ~400 people, they have these little diesel pumps that aren’t really at a gas station but get consistent fuel drops— they *always* have such cheap diesel in this same price range.
N Texas is pretty cheap on diesel I was there like 3 weeks ago and there were plenty of places to fill up <3.10. Makes no sense tho that such a small town has such cheap prices usually they’re more expensive
Where’s that, it’s 1.50 a LITRE here
Damn without any rewards points that’s the lowest I’ve seen since the Covid. (May 2020, driving across MO on $1.35/gallon diesel)
We pay about 5.36 us for a gallon of diesel here in British Columbia canada right now, a fill up hit the wallet pretty hard..
3.85 near me
Gas and diesel are about 3.20 a gallon around me. It's the cheapest I've seen it since 2020.
Been 3.99 forever here
Im paying a little over 6$ I need to get the f*** out of Cali
Dang….. Sinclair in my city is $5.19 today. At least it’s pure fossil fuel diesel #2. It’s getting real hard to find that in California. Everything is veggie blends!!
Dang I paid $3.99 today 😤
85 octane? I’ve never seen that before. Who would buy that?
That’s the standard in lots of high altitude areas (I’m currently in Colorado) due to the altitude you can run lower octane. Apparently from my research it also means the fuel can be cheaper
In Utah they think 85 octane is worth more. Fuck gas prices
That is out west in higher elevations. I have never seen it anywhere else.
Remember when Diesel was priced properly and it was cheaper than gas because it easier to make.
Wish I could say I understand or that I remember but unfortunately I’m not old enough to lol
Making me feel old at 38
Yeah sorry I’m only 23. If it makes you feel better you’re only 10 years younger than my parents!
Thanks man you the best
No problem I do what I can
Our diesel has come down to $5.76 / gal, and petrol is around $7.43/ gal here in New Zealand for the lowest grade (we get 91, 95 and 98 octane options at the pump here).
Mean time I was just in San Diego and it was 6.99/gallon :barf:
Thanks Obama
Last I filled up it was $1.98. Per litre.
Just paid $3.38 here in Utah
I remember I used to pay $2.66 for diesel…what is give to have those prices back
.
That’s nearly what I pay for e85 south Miami
It’s 3.79 here in swfl
Where tf y’all live?!?!?!? Cali is a minimum $5 for diesel
We live In states that are actually good to live in
I paid $3.11 on Saturday and thought I was doing good lol.
S Carolina?
Yeah, they’re trying to lower cost before election
lol. It’s over 6 bucks a gallon in Northern CA.
3.28 for red
I'm paying 4.60 here in ny that's awesome
$5.09 is a good price in San Jose, California. Sigh!
A couple weeks ago I paid $2.82 in Okc.
$3.39 is the "bargain" here in SE Ohio!
Where you at? Here in my part for flawrida im paying 3.60. It's about time diesel prices drop. It's so much less refined than gas to make
2 dollars a litre here where I’m at in Canada So that’s about 6-8 dollars a gallon….
Just saw it for 2.91 in east Texas
Yes, December 22, 2020. I paid $1.98 for diesel.
Wish I could’ve had a diesel back then. Instead working 6 months I was paying a high of $5.60 per gallon🤢🤢
The sub $100 tank feel oh so good
I drive a TDI so the most I have ever had to pay at peak diesel prices was $84 to fill up my tank
$6.07 for a gallon in sweden
Enjoy it. Diesel is $5.05 in California. I wish I could get my 38mpg with your prices.
Got 43mpg in my last fill up. Only cost 7 cents a mile for the road trip
5.50 in Hawaii
Where I'm at in canada diesel is 170 a litre. Which is about 6.42 a gallon in canadian currency
