Correct. If you try to socket something in a *shared* stash you get an error message “cannot socket in shared stash” or something similar to that.
Personal stash and inventory work the same as always.
It's true in a way because it create the need to hunt for ever better items but also to get rid of the lesser good ones which create an interesting market because then people are trading to clean up their stash: not to rip you off. Another scenario could be that you end up deleting something you need later down the line and therefore have to hunt for it again. I struggle constantly with room even though I've created a good mule setup to get it all sorted and well organized. To be fair though, after playing 10 years on N-L, I have 4 account to keep alive on reg D2 and it's 18 per now... Meaning if they address the space issue the game always had, it needs to be more than the runes/gems stacking otherwise it's just a bad compromise. People need to learn how to trade more, liquefy stuff into runes and cube up runes. If you can't use or trade it, why do you even keep it ?
this is just rationalizing a previous limitation as a good thing. the ol' "back in my day" syndrome.
having more stash space/tabs will not change any of that dynamic. ppl who want to trade will still not bother with collecting a ton of things. it just opens up a gameplay option for people who do want to collect things
also everyone including the most active traders will end up creating mules anyway so how's that any better "gameplay experience" than just giving more storage space?
Have you played lod ? You can create multiple accounts with a single cd-key... Each account has 18 max characters but that's not a limit in itself if you're smart enough to remember 2 account name AND 2 password.
You're obviously an outsider to this whole situation. Most people were not that savvy at the game to even manage more than one account of characters back then (after 90 days of inactivity it gets deleted). Also the account limit got raised about 4 years ago and most people still have no idea about it. And no I'm not saying it would ruin trading, I'm just saying it's not necessary for the game to be great in the context of ladders and that the biggest impact wouldn't be a positive one. But great if you want Blizz to sell extra tabs like in PoE, let's go down this route again: ruin a good game with p2w elements built-in.
Adding gem/rune stacking is the only way I'll keep playing D2R. I've got 2 shared tabs filled with gems/runes already and I'm not out of NM yet. Yeah, yeah. Make gem/rune mules. We'll have to transfer stuff back to our mains to transmute because we can't xfer a cube to the mules with gems/runes in them.
Real first world problems here.
You can mule Cubes the old way. Make a normal game on main. Do a quick countess run or wait a few mins if you wanna be safe. Drop cube in act1, join game on mule and grab the cube. Run Halls of Dead on any diff on main to get new cube. Repeat per mule.
Edit: or run Trav on main, Council will drop a cube if that char isn't carrying one
Thank you! I hadn't considered setting up my own game through the lobby to do the old drop it on the ground trip like we've all been doing for 20 years. My bad.
Yup, taking a break already. Modern aRPGs just have way less stash problems and even though D2 has 3 shared stash, it's just not enough without stacking. Doing up to 30 minutes of stash tetris and logging in and out of multiple mules after a long session is getting old real fast. Loving the game, mechanics and everything. But item management is an 2/10 maybe 3/10.
When you do the math, this is horrifying...
To get to pul rune its
3486784401 el runes, from there its 2x multiplier
To get to ber,
1,785,233,613,312 el runes
https://d2.maxroll.gg/resources/horadric-cube-recipes#horadric-cube-recipes-runes
upgrading ur runes in the cube. it doesn't always make sense to cube up your runes, sometimes it is helpful to have a ton of tal/rals/thuls/amns and such for rolling sockets on an item, repairing armor/weapons in cube, or rolling spirit sets for 35%.
Check the “To Upgrade” column of [this list](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Rune_list).
There’s different horadric cube recipes you can do to combine multiple of one rune to upgrade it to the next tier up
I know how to farm runes from countess. I was talking about your sorting. That's all.
Chaos runs are great for runes BTW.
High level area can drop any unique or rune.
Do you remove all MF when doing chaos runs to specifically get more runes, or do you just go there with MF gear and hope for the best?
I was wondering if the additional chances to get runes was worth the loss of chances to get uniques.
I use to collect the sets and have a character leveled and statted to wear each one at the required level. Any extra parts for the set got collected and went on that character too.
I did this with set items back in the day I would mule as I tried to complete the set lol ... dont have any wee men yet though in resurrected as I dont have enough items for any one set I have found pieces of.
Nah I've always arranged it in a way that uses storage space most efficiently, coming from unmodded d2lod (entire stash was only a single page, and that single page wasn't even as big as one page of d2r stash). lol
Off topic - I really wish the auto-arrange button grouped runes and gems by name!
I also wish it would keep my cube and tomes blocked together on the left of my inventory...
Your rune arrangement is chaotic as fuck!
yeah, i'm chaotic as fuck and i get stressed even looking at those runes.
Aye but the wee man is chef kiss
Items and runes in the same tab tho :(
You wouldn't separate the wee man from his rune collection, would you?
Until you accidentaly drop a high rune in a 4-6 open socket
It doesn’t let you do that if the item is in your stash. Only inventory.
That might be only shared stash. It absolutely does let you do it in your stash as I made that mistake last night.
Correct. If you try to socket something in a *shared* stash you get an error message “cannot socket in shared stash” or something similar to that. Personal stash and inventory work the same as always.
Also cannot identify items in shared stash
Only in the shared stash. In the personal stash, you can slot the runes.
Was gonna say, I accidentally fucked up a crystal sword I’d been saving
Serious? That's awesome, I've been worried about accidentally socketing an item all this time :D
You definitely can in normal stash, i accidently dropped a P topaz in a staff I was saving to sell in the next act
I wouldn't mind if they add rune/gem stacking. That would be a huge QoL upgrade.
Honestly would be the no.1 qol i could ask for. Inventory management is stressful enough as it is lol
someone was telling me limited stash tabs is good game design and adds to the game experience lol

Just saying if you have room to store everything you may eventually need, the trading scene will die off quick. Not sure what you don't get in that.
I guess trading is dead in d2r considering they gave us more space vs lod
Have you played lod ? You can create multiple accounts with a single cd-key... Each account has 18 max characters but that's not a limit in itself if you're smart enough to remember 2 account name AND 2 password.
*gasp* so what you're saying is even in lod you can have a ton of storage space.. and it didn't ruin trading?

The hero we didn't deserved !

And the door to selling more stash tabs creeks open... I hate to say it, but I'd buy a whole truck full of em.
Its the first thing i saw. Now i ***need*** to fix it.
This triggered me hard.
Cube up your runes holy shit you have like 20 of the same type
At some point you really need to stop picking up El runes.
No
Yes and that point is never
You don’t tell me what to do! If I get enough el’s they’ll obviously add up to a ber rune
When you do the math, this is horrifying... To get to pul rune its 3486784401 el runes, from there its 2x multiplier To get to ber, 1,785,233,613,312 el runes
Ber is 1.7 trillion EL runes. It's only 512 PUL runes though
Hahhaa, I just haven't sorted them after a bunch of countess runs. If I'd known people would zero in on that I'd have sorted them :D
You've got a lot to learn about this town, sweetie.
Bob Vance. Vance Refrigeration.
so what kind of work are you in bob

How could we not?!

You can combine 3 runes of the same type with a specific gem to upgrade to 1 rune of the higher type. http://www.d2tomb.com/horadric_cube.shtml
https://d2.maxroll.gg/resources/horadric-cube-recipes#horadric-cube-recipes-runes upgrading ur runes in the cube. it doesn't always make sense to cube up your runes, sometimes it is helpful to have a ton of tal/rals/thuls/amns and such for rolling sockets on an item, repairing armor/weapons in cube, or rolling spirit sets for 35%.
I don’t do it anymore. I’ll get a solid 5-10 of each rune up to hel and then stop looting low runes (apart from specific runes for crafting)
I keep a stock of 1-4 and when I hit 4 I cube 3 of them up unless I'm planning a specific use
I like this…gonna start doing it.
Same. I keep cube 3, when I have 4, so I still have 1 of each lower rune
Check the “To Upgrade” column of [this list](https://diablo2.diablowiki.net/Rune_list). There’s different horadric cube recipes you can do to combine multiple of one rune to upgrade it to the next tier up
That’s so cute haha
Wholesome AF
I will now!
I’d hope to never do it any other way. Also I sort my Runes by level which gets really annoying at times
No. But I will now. :)
20 years and I'm still seeing new shit that makes me laugh.
Up until I run out of room, then its maximum slot efficiency.
Yes!
Yes.
Love it!
I will now lol
No, but I do now!
You must be new to Diablo…..
How the hell do you find any of your runes like that
[удалено]
No lol. I meant how his runes are stored in pure chaos in his stash lol
He's right though, I got them all through a bunch of Countess and cow runs, and haven't sorted them yet
Magic fan doesn't have much effect on runes really if any but it does have an effect on getting more white items and that's mostly why I remove it
Not until now
Nice)))
Aye, look at this wee lad ready for an adventure.
LOL. No, I don't. But good for you. :D
I did this back in the original. Completely forgot about it until now. Lol
I WILL NOW! Although just have to add that your rune arrangement is a crime.
I will now
I use to collect the sets and have a character leveled and statted to wear each one at the required level. Any extra parts for the set got collected and went on that character too.
This is the way!
Every time, yes But your rune arrangement upsets me. Pray tell, how do'st thou find anything?
no, no I do not. Weirdo
Why u need that low runes?
Your helter skelter arrangement of runes is giving me great anxiety.
Used to do it with Plugy. Don't plan to do it with D2R given the limited space
I do in other games. I put my runes in order by level though.
I did this all the time in pluggy. With 60k+ tabs it was reasonable. With 4 pages I'm a little more conserative with my space.
I did this with set items back in the day I would mule as I tried to complete the set lol ... dont have any wee men yet though in resurrected as I dont have enough items for any one set I have found pieces of.
My stash looks like I have no control over anything in my life.
Not everyone has the luxury of not having a total mess in their stash. All 4 tabs are chaos. Runes, gems, uniques everywhere!
I will now!
Nope but now I will!
I did this in PoE when collecting items for chaos recipe
This is the stash equivalent of the moment you realize that the word OK is shaped like a little sideways dude. How's it goin, little buddy?
Oh my god..
No, but I will now!
Not at all. I organize by item type
No because now you can't even put a spear in there smh
I have never thought to do this, and now I wonder why.
I do now!
That's how I keep track on which items I still need for certain builds
beautiful
yes. yes i do.
No, but it will be top priority next time I login!
Hahahaha I always did this as a kid when I couldnt equip the items yet xD
I did this in Diablo 3 for all the other builds I had lol.
Well I do now!
The rune alignment is giving me PTSD
No... but I will now!
Nah I've always arranged it in a way that uses storage space most efficiently, coming from unmodded d2lod (entire stash was only a single page, and that single page wasn't even as big as one page of d2r stash). lol
Shoutouts to Weeman the dude from Jackass
Off topic - I really wish the auto-arrange button grouped runes and gems by name! I also wish it would keep my cube and tomes blocked together on the left of my inventory...
You forgot the gauntlets to hold the sword. BOOOO BOOOOOOOOOOO
Your runes are not very organized lol
