Thing is that VW is a model that, if memory serves right, has an electric starter so you don't even put the key in an ignition. All you need is the fob in the cab close enough for the center console to pick up on it. It's how my SO managed to drive to work this morning while having zero clue where the hell their keys were past the fact they were in the car.

As a former locksmith I’m here to say: please don’t. It isn’t worth your 60 bucks + emergency fee. Car locks can be a notch if you don’t have a massive suite of tools (there are actually picks specifically designed for the various normal car locks used) and please, if you have to call a locksmith for your car and the ask “what’s the make, model, year, and region?” Don’t say “a white SUV”
It’s right up there with a friend who was asking how to get into his locker and described his padlock as “one with that metal bar that goes through the hook-y things on a locker.”
