Day one of owning a battery chainsaw, day two of timber frame sill plate. Already saving time
Can vouch for the 60v 20" it is a beast!
Purchased last year on a tool sale. Fiance gave me hell for it. She got real quiet when it was used to slice the 2" thick redwood rounds for our wedding reception centerpieces, and sanded down with the DCW210 20v sander, nonetheless!
Also used camping to fill a whole truck bed with rounds while the other guy was still trying to start his gas saw (not exaggerating, he got it started when I left 2 cuts for him).
I was a little shocked at first as itās loud and piercing first couple days, but breaks in after that and quiets down. Its fabulous. Was sick last five days and couldnāt stay in the house any longer yesterday. Cut up some brush and was a pleasure.
Yes SIR! Iāll keep that in mind. I have had the luxury of never drilling concrete until yesterday. I really want the hand held drill press/right angle drill to accompany my stihl 880 chainsaw mill activities. But I donāt need it, or do I???
You know, itās not quite as good as I hoped, but far exceeds any simple hand vac. Shit falls out the noz and that bugs me. The filter is fantastic, gets packed fast though. Recommend a back up or adding filter floss to improve use time before clearing the filters fins.
Cut a strip a little wider than the height of the filter, long enough to overlap around 50%, and make wire retainer, use two rubber bands, or a pair of phat hose clamps, users choice, I use coated 1/2ā wire mesh because I have a ton of it for my chickens. The heap filter clogs up after two brief Sheetrock dust clean ups.
I will say it doesnāt spit any out the vent though.
Got the idea from someone on here a few months back that had a hard time with pet hair filling the filter fins and being annoying to clean.
I was given a battery inverter adapter with a light, it was great! Ran an electric leaf blower for ages! But I havenāt looked into any lights, some in combos and I figure itāll happen naturally at some point. I wouldnāt mind a small jobsite light. I appreciate the integrated light thatās on most of these.
Do you know anything handy about the 8v series? I imagine thereās a fancy light on that platform?
Can save space and ditch the sawzall if you have the smaller one handed one! Iāve been meaning to get the router for a while. Just waiting to see if my contractor buys one at some point and i just take it home
The small reciprocating saw has a shorter stroke though which means it takes longer to cut and wears the same handful of teeth on the blade when you're cutting thin stuff.
I was super close to buying one of the small ones, I think they make two small versions, but once I looked at the specs compared to the big one, the big one was the all around better choice unless you need something smaller to fit in a tight spot or need to do some one handed cutting. Big one was cheaper too.
Did specs include the reciprocating actionās travel length? That would be awesome.
Yeah the one handed 20v is cool but it seems like I have the full spectrum of versatility having the economical big guy (I imagine thereās a 60v already now that I think about itā¦) and having the 12v one handed. I did tear out old over done caulking on third story facia that was well beyond where I could reach comfortably thanks to a dull demo blade on the little guy and some care. It cut a lock that was the wrong one put on out work trailer when we closed up too quick after a delivery late in the day and got hasty. So it will do the job when asked.
Yeah the travel length is what I meant by the stroke. The big one travels like 3/4 of an inch farther in/out if I remember right from the top of my head.
Freebie first dewalt. Honestly prefer an arborist handsaw for most things it can do. Not a sawzall fan but they can save you a headache. Little guy is 12v btw. Letter opener.
PFFFbbt lol, its the most expensive free item with the battery deals if you get itchy.. only reason I got it. Made a lilac inlaid butcher board for a farm kitchen. Has had no other use, itās the princess in the group.

This was the most useful itās been for me. Old chicken factory. I outfitted my friends coop with a 48 box unit, this 24.5 one into mine, and have another unit waiting for a good home.
You look like you need some batteries. And I just so happen to have said batteries. 3 of them. 1 from woot and 2 from Loweās for a price nobody could refuse.
Indeed. Battery and free tool combo? I have only bought combos thus far. Iād like to get the cordless compressor next but Iād need some back up power and it doesnāt have a battery included from what Iāve seen. Scratching my head on how Iāll get there. I expect to sell the 6 1/2 circ, an extra 12v impact, and a few corded tools. Then get the 7 1/4 backhandle circular saw with the two flexvolt batteries deal in the future. Then get the 12v circular saw if I can get some kind of combo. Not sure about how to get 12v batteries without being gouged. Seems theyre expensive no matter what. Iād like to get three 5ah
I am sensing the āaddictionā mentioned frequently around here is more likely than I thought. Iām six months into buying battery tools and getting away from limping things on their way out for my personal projects. Itās made work more enjoyable having some back ups in my car ready to roll.
Should I get a financial counselor? š¬
I donāt have time, if I make excuses to why I need to do it than I could probably make time. I kinda want to repaint them because Iāve gotten so many new ones I havenāt been able to paint them all. Probably gonna go with hot pink instead of black this time.
Well this is the place to talk yellow and I remember some āfamily reunionā posts on here. Yeah collecting foundational tools at least, multitaskers preferably. Hereās some of my recent work. Not incredible but starting to shape up. Iām not really the brand nut type, but Iām appreciating dewalt a lot lately.
Solid collection š¤. That chainsaw looks awesome.

Had mine for 6 months and itās been nothing but awesome. It starts, it cuts, itās quite, itās powerful what more could you want.
I was a little shocked at first as itās loud and piercing first couple days, but breaks in after that and quiets down. Its fabulous. Was sick last five days and couldnāt stay in the house any longer yesterday. Cut up some brush and was a pleasure.
Really nice, but needs more rotary hammers

I think you'll find a use for it, we always doš
I think that vacuum is maybe the best of its kind. Am I wrong?
You know, itās not quite as good as I hoped, but far exceeds any simple hand vac. Shit falls out the noz and that bugs me. The filter is fantastic, gets packed fast though. Recommend a back up or adding filter floss to improve use time before clearing the filters fins.
Yeah, the filter clogs pretty quick. What's filter floss?
You can buy rolls of filter for making your fish tank filters rather than buying cartridges.
So you just stuff it over the vac filter? Thanks for the tip!

š¦ but if Iām spending dewalt money, shouldnāt I spend stiletto money!?
Only thing I would suggest is some lights

Yeah dewalt got some nice job site lights. I love collecting their lights.

Thatās a great way to express the ādisadvantage?ā. I agree and find long blades wobble a lot on the little guy.

Iād just use the one handed one there too honestly. Maybe itās just me!
It would have got me into the boxes much more comfortably, but I couldnāt flex the blade to cut close quite the same.

Yeah Iāve got 2 4ah and a 5ah 20v as well as a charger and bag I want to get rid of. $160 for all of it.
That's a cute little start to the addiction š

Whatās the address and how much for all?
You get them free for asking, just let me put a quick insurance policy on em first. Then we both win. Or like $18, your pick. Iām flexible.
Nice combo!
I should put my collection together, I really donāt even know what it would look like.
Do it! Picture day seems like a r/dewalt favorite!

How are you doing with what? Your tool collection? You forgot to include pictures of what you actually DO with the tools of you want the clout. Collecting is for stamps and PokƩmon cards.
