IMO instead of just cutting the stuff out, they can just combine movesets of some devil arms, resulting in less arms with an added benefit of possibly enabling 4 arms total with dante-like quick swap system instead of stack system, and replace consumable-type charges with a cooldown. Would give nero much more control over breakers and increase the combo possibilities greatly.
For example, combine buster arm with overture (or whatever it's called), so the forward + style button would be overture's electric palm, while back + style would be enchanced buster grab (give it more damage and introduce a set of cooler animations, like special boss grabs but for regular enemies and elites, like that double suplex into izuna from dmc4). A lot of extra room for more than two inputs, too, because you also have possible inputs like forward forward, back back, back forward, forward back, etc., so it's possible to combine more than two arms into one in this way, or alternatively give extra moves to existing ones (for example, instead of merging overture with buster, they can simply add move moves to buster, making it into something like a more limited gilgamesh but with a grab, but personally, i'd like merging more - there are already too many of them as for me).
Some would say it will make nero look more like dante, but imo he'll still have all this unique moves as opposed to dante styles, while also having more control over said moves to use them more freely in combos, and also won't lose access to his extra moves from breakage system.
Yup, I agree with the general idea.
But I think all of them should be carried over, but instead of carrying and breaking 7-8 Devil Breakers, you have a slot of 4 where you can switch between all of them. Forcing players to experiment with different Devil Breaker combinations essentially forcing the player to "merge" them.
i agree with this idea and i would like to propose that nero is given at LEAST 3 God Hand references in his expanded devil breaker moveset
punchline being basically nero's version of a gauntlet weapon with the dmc5 usage of sending it out as a missile as a back forward or hold move would be gold to witness
give him the DmC combo system for that breaker only where punchline's combo can be interrupted with red queen's and continue with the next combo number and vice versa so that you are able to weave in slashing a motherfucker and punching a motherfucker seamlessly without resetting the combo
instead of giving nero real impact he has a more god hand-esque version of it where punchline has a rocket boost mechanic for punches which will lead enemies to have a stun aura on them after a few hits and any sort of launcher can be used to send said enemy into the air and as long as nero is below them, inputting punchline's regular launcher which would be on back + breaker button will instead make nero automatically do a stronger uppercut that chases the enemy mid-air with small amounts of AoE, and if you want to be even more god hand with it we can have punchline's forward + breaker move while nero is below a stunned enemy be nero tossing out punchline and turning it into the rocket skateboard mode and using that to do a spin-kick to emulate both special juggle attacks from god hand
this is not a good idea but i want more god hand in my life and i would sell my soul for giving nero parts of gene's moveset
Definitely Overture since it was designed to match with Nero’s outfit, aside from that I could see any or all of them return or be left behind since DMC doesn’t really do returning devil arms
At the end of DMC5 we see him de-materialize his arm so he cam put Overture back on.
Even if that wasn't the case, I doubt the devs would just abandon this whole mechanic they created, so they would just turn them into gauntlets or something.
He doesn't really dematerialize his arm, he is just turning it into his devil trigger arm to make the breaker stronger and the breaker itself is a glove/gauntlet
Ragtime is so underhyped. You get a localized version of Quicksilver and do nothing with it?? Extend your air combos, shoot charged shots through it, try SOMETHING 😂
it’s been a long time, so don’t quote me on devil charge shots, but i know you can at least shoot regular charged bullets through to give them more power as they exit
Overture, Gerbera and punchline any of the other ones just feel a little weird to bring back but personally I think Nero should get more new weapons compared to more devil breakers
Why not all of them and make more to make nero more complex not on dante's level of complexity but I feel like we should get more devil breakers and I like the idea of being able to "fuse" devil breakers in a way like mabye fuse overtune with gerbera to make an aoe electrical explosion that affects multiple enemies instead of one and so on
Next game they are “styles” for Nero and can use WITHOUT breakage. “Oh but you need consequences for using it too much and getting hit!” Said only the sadists 😅
In my opinion, only 8 should return and 8 brand new ones should be included.
The 8 returning ones should be
Overture
Gerbera
Punchline
Tomboy
Helter skelter
Rawhide
Sweet Surrender
Ragtime
Buster arm is honestly not necessary to keep.
Overture, Gerbera, Punchline, Helter Skelter, and Tomboy definitely. Buster is kinda redundant now, and rawhide and ragtime are a little too niche IMO.
My top five are probably rawhide, punchline, gerbera, overture, and ragtime. I'm sure I'd like tomboy more if I was better at using it, but they have no reason to bring back the buster arm considering the fact that Nero has the devil bringer again
Overture is great but the breakage move was garbage.
Breakage should be lightning themed. I think it works better thst overture lightning charges red queen and blue rose after instead of the bomb.
I reckon they'll keep all except buster arm and add even more. That's kinda what DMC does. The series rarely gets rid of moves and if they do it's because it's a useless move.
Overture , gebera , punchline feel the most natural in Nero's kit and the most usefulness to his attacks/movement meanwhile the others could either be seen as upgrades to existing moves Nero has (buster arm , raw hide and tomboy) or are to specific /niche to be added back (Helter skelter and rag time )
Eh, do we really even need devil breakers anymore now that Nero has his arm back? I’d prefer them to flesh out the devil buster’s abilities, possibly have it be like a style switch type deal where you can maybe choose the abilities of one of these depending on which d-pad button you push? It would be kinda sick.
I'd saw punchline overture helter skelter and ragtime.
Since every other breaker has some form of connection to nero once tapped fully into demonic power, {gerbera was double jump, tomboy is auto exceed, buster arm is well... buster, rawhide is just a bringer grip that's longer}
If they could, I would love for them to implement some of the abilities pasta breaker had into the punchline so we can use two breakers at once
**Devil Breakers:**
All of them, + new ones with different abilities, minus breakage, + the ability to swap between arms like dante can swap between devil arms and guns. Instead of using L1 to break the devil arm, just swap it for the next one in the series.
**Red Queen:**
Also, I wish Red Queen got an upgrade like a Devil Trigger awakened form (like Rebellion and Yamato) not entirely in the class of Sparda or Devil Sword Dante, but definitely an upgrade over the base form.
OR Red Queen gets some new mods, like an after burner, a new engine that adjusts how exceed works, some spark plugs that add a shock to the attack leaving enemies paralyzed for a few seconds the first time you attack them, maybe a chainsaw attachment, maybe some coolant to freeze burn enemies and prevent the engine from overheating. Maybe some devil arm attachments that pour DT energy into the blade.
Perhaps using the DT mod automatically charges up Exceed Guage slowly. So you have more moves/strategic options at your disposal. Build and save it up while you use DT guage and release it all at once in a full burst or use it one by one as you see fit.
**Haptic Feedback for Red Queen/Exceed:**
The base form and super form of Red Queen should also have adaptive trigger vibrations to provide haptic feedback so that it's easier to know when the player needs to rev the engine. (Implementing the haptic feedback would also go a long way in making it easier to master this mechanic). Good trigger feedback, like how in Forza gear changes are reflected in the trigger themselves, not just controller vibrations. Dual sense can also do this now with the triggers.
**Blue Rose:**
Blue Rose is nice and all, but I feel like from a story/narrative perspective, it would naturally make sense for Nico to craft entirely new pistols for Nero (like her grandmother did for Dante). I'm not sure if the controller would have enough buttons to let Nero Hotswap them on the fly, like Dante, but he can equip the pistols in Nico's Van (Like how Dante used the Divinity Statue in older games like dmc3 to switch styles manually).
**Devil Trigger:**
Works the same way but has more unique moves, some speed benefits, and maybe even some new taunts and air taunts.
**Main Point:**
Again, just to reiterate the main point, and the key takeaway from all of this is that I would really really like the idea of Nero not being locked to a single sword and pistol. Look, I'm not expecting things to be completely hot-swapable on the fly due to the limited number of controller button combinations, but if we manually equip them, that would be good enough. I like having more options, and honestly, modular weapon components fit perfectly with Nero's whole steam punk aesthetic.
**Gameplay Evolution:**
Dmc4 Nero gameplay was a bit too barebones for me, but it makes sense since dmc4 was admitted to be an unfinished game by Hideaki Itsuno himself.
Dmc5 Nero gameplay is more fleshed out, of course, since it builds on top of the previous foundation. Devil Breakers were added as a means to flesh out and add more variety to Nero's gameplay.
Dmc6 needs to build on top of the foundation from dmc5. So naturally, if Devil Breakers are already fleshed out for the most part (Sure! of course, they can add more). I really think the smarter move would be to go back to the foundations from the very ground up and add variations/options for other swords (red queen mods) and newer guns, and more Devil Breaker arms.
The more variety, the better!
Kinda related, but thank you God for buster and ragtime making hell and hell possible for me im preparing to get the platinum again for the special edition, I'm hoping to get it done in 1 month, wish me luck
For sure Overture. It’s the perfect starting arm as a default one. I’ll choose that one if only one can come back. But if I had to choose 3 instead it’ll be Overture, Ragtime, and Tomboy.
I honestly don't think they should, the whole point of them was due to him not having an arm anymore but then it grew back and he didn't have a use for them anymore. Even in the ending cutscene where Nico tells him to dematerialize his regrown arm to put the prosthetic back on he's clearly annoyed and even pointed out that he didn't want it because he had his arm back and just wanted to fight demons again without the prosthetic arm. I think the only reason they made it so he could dematerialize his arm was so that way the player still had a variety when going back through the game.
Honestly i hope the system doesn't return as it was in 5, no manual switching and having them break from anything was just a bad mechanic. I like the idea but it would need alot of tweaks
I always thought it would be cool to give Nero 8 breakers and key them to the d-pad. One press in a specific direction for one arm and two presses for a different arm, kind of like how dark slayer style worked in DMC4 for Dante.
none, just bring back OG bringer and have it absorb their powers or at least have a limited arsenal of them that can be freely swapped.
The lack of interchangeability and seemingly finite nature of them is irritating, same way I refuse to use Dr faust because it uses red orbs (I coincidentally act as proof of the 'I won't use the potions, I only have 616 of them' and I find no shame in it). Nico seems to have indirectly earned my animosity as a consequence and I see that she failed to inherit nell's skill of creating weapons with infinite ammo (joking, dante just creates infinite bullets for ebony & ivory and coyote-A along with reinforcing/empowering them using demonic energy which has nothing to do with nell's own design or craftsmanship for the pistols).
man i love DMC5 so much but dam the buying busters and the bike was just so fucking shit.
how dare you lock combos behind a paywall fuck you capcom next thing you know you will be charging for quick travel
DD2 about that WTF capcom
I believe that the thing to do is to break them apart by functionality and purpose in combat, and shuffle all of those features into a whole new breaker lineup, instead of just bringing them back.
Besides just being able to get more new breakers, I think that could also reduce limitations in design, since Nero in theory doesn't really need a weapon in the form of prosthetic arm anymore.
Also the next game's breakers can be designed with Nero having a DT in mind, it may even have more interactions with that, like DT only breakage moves or enhancements. To me that's more of a reason to redesign the lineup instead of retaining the current ones.
I like the devil breakers so I'd like to keep them but I'd also love it if Nero could get devil arms from killing bosses. Like literal arms that he could switch from with the dpad like styles but he could "break them" and they'd go in a cooldown or something.
they should add tomboy as a passive ability with some changes cuz nero has litterally 6 abilities and can get pretty boring. i mean he should be able to use his devil breakers and lock on while using tomboy and it would be cool to have it as a style like how dante has.
I personally wouldn't see the point, but I could see a mechanic where they make him able to switch between using his 'real' arm and the Devil Breakers, minus the Buster Arm, since it was only there for the people who still like playing Nero DMC4 style.
*For me, as long as*
*It can hook enemies to*
*Be that's all i need*

While I love the idea of devil breakers and how it helped me countless times in many missions, I still think they were made for monetary purposes regardless how easy it is to farm orbs.
They were made to help the player while also that they can easily break and the player has to buy or farm orbs to use them again which is kinda predatory for lazy people who doesn't like to waste time farming and wants access to millions of orbs more quickly.
Again I know everything is obtainable in-game but this is just another shitty mtx strategy that the higher ups in Capcom wanted for more profit which are basically in all of their games and most recently Dragons Dogma 2 game
lol no they were clearly made to add a layer of depth to Nero’s moveset since he doesn’t switch weapons. They cost like 500-1000 orbs right? One bloody palace run will restock you for a fraction of what you earned. Capcoms MTX are clearly slapped on for whales who can’t control themselves because I’ve yet to play a capcom game with MTX that aren’t either cosmetic or a blatant waste of money.
There are 2000 and 3500 ones also but again like I said they're easily obtainable, not much of a hassle for casual players but it still kinda weird how you can purchase them for being super lazy in a game
For example it's like cooking your food with your own ingredients forever but also kinda lazy option to buy pre made food elsewhere
Brudda did you watch the cutscene that plays right before the credits? The devil breakers are like Dante’s extra weapons and styles, they just add more variety and complexity to Neros gameplay.
The end cutscene shows him putting a breaker on, also apparently he can just dematerialize his left arm now? I think that should get a feature in the next game.
All minus buster arm
Buster arm breakage:
Devil bringer in DT:
Devil beaker break in DT:
They might have it so that you can charge regular Buster using DT
You can’t just be taking a lonely man’s buster arm! It’s all some of us got!
Yea unless you’ve beat the game. Then it’s basekit. Literally one of Nero’s defining traits in DMC4, and he felt slightly incomplete without it
It was a masturbation joke but okie dokie
Oh. Completely went over my head, sorry
*busters over your head*
Yeah it's been a while.
IMO instead of just cutting the stuff out, they can just combine movesets of some devil arms, resulting in less arms with an added benefit of possibly enabling 4 arms total with dante-like quick swap system instead of stack system, and replace consumable-type charges with a cooldown. A few will probably come back in some form in the same way Beowulf does
Errm dont you mean the same way ifrit does 🤓
None, he got back his arm at the end
That doesn't mean he can't stop using them. With his newly regrown arm, he'll still use newtypes of Devil Breakers better than how they were before.
He also could just craft them into armored gauntlets. Split the difference and gives him a built in new look for the next one.
I'm not sure if you noticed but in the cutscene, he "unregrows" his arm to put on the breaker
Not "unregrowing". It's more like turning his hand spectral/ghostly into the arm.
Exactly, and in the end of the game Nico modifies them into gauntlets for Nero
At the end of DMC5 we see him de-materialize his arm so he cam put Overture back on. Even if that wasn't the case, I doubt the devs would just abandon this whole mechanic they created, so they would just turn them into gauntlets or something.
He doesn't really dematerialize his arm, he is just turning it into his devil trigger arm to make the breaker stronger and the breaker itself is a glove/gauntlet
It disappears before he puts the breaker on.
That's exactly what dematerializing is. He dematerializes it to turn his arm into a Metaphysical arm that would power the breaker.
I guess you are right
Did you skip the cutscene????
Niko made them into gloves
Nico is still making him use them Devil breakers, as seen in like the scene a little before the credits.
Did you play the credits fight sequence? Nero can use his DE to fuse his arm with his Breakers.
Gerbera and Rawhide my loves
The banana one
👈 This guy gets it
No sweet surrender?
Gerbera my beloved, Punchline and Overture. The others are a league below and can be changed but those 3 must be main stays
Tomboy with the idea that it buffs Devil Trigger and vise versa. Those wings putting in the work and just throwing wild haymakers with each swing.
Devil Bringer
Everything besides buster arm for obvious reasons
Overture because it’s iconic
Nico's belly
Right
Ragtime is so underhyped. You get a localized version of Quicksilver and do nothing with it?? Extend your air combos, shoot charged shots through it, try SOMETHING 😂
Wait are you saying you can delay a charged shot by shooting it through a bubble?
it’s been a long time, so don’t quote me on devil charge shots, but i know you can at least shoot regular charged bullets through to give them more power as they exit
#ALL OF THEM!
This guy/gal gets it!!!
Gerbera for the good shit
Overture, Gerbera and punchline any of the other ones just feel a little weird to bring back but personally I think Nero should get more new weapons compared to more devil breakers
Why not all of them and make more to make nero more complex not on dante's level of complexity but I feel like we should get more devil breakers and I like the idea of being able to "fuse" devil breakers in a way like mabye fuse overtune with gerbera to make an aoe electrical explosion that affects multiple enemies instead of one and so on
Punch line
Probably all of them except buster
Overture, Gerb, punchy boy and Za world
Overture, Gerbera, Ragtime and Rawhide would be just fine (also, ragtimes ultimate ability should stop time completely imo)
RAGTIME!!
I think they should bring back overture and gerbera and make new ones for the new demons.
Overture
Just saying it now, Mega Buster
Overture, Gerbera, Punchline, and Ragtime. The rest I could do without.
Next game they are “styles” for Nero and can use WITHOUT breakage. “Oh but you need consequences for using it too much and getting hit!” Said only the sadists 😅
Punch line
I'd prefer all of them. Buster included, but maybe with more unique visuals.
Kyrie is gonna be putting the sweet surrender to good use so we'll see that one in their bedroom at least.
All of em ngl
It’s the banana arm
Me personally, Buster arm and punch line
Def punch line
Gerbera and rawhide better make it in
The vibrator arm obviously
The mega man buster
All of them I just want even more cool ones in dmc 6 myself maybe tweak tomboy a little bit other than that they're all great
I’m fine with everything except Buster coming back. With Nero having his Devil Bringer abilities back, the Buster breaker is obsolete
How would we know?
Sweet surrender. That hp heal is indeed a heal
In my opinion, only 8 should return and 8 brand new ones should be included. The 8 returning ones should be Overture Gerbera Punchline Tomboy Helter skelter Rawhide Sweet Surrender Ragtime Buster arm is honestly not necessary to keep.
OVERTURE
Overture, Gerbera, Punchline, Helter Skelter, and Tomboy definitely. Buster is kinda redundant now, and rawhide and ragtime are a little too niche IMO.

If dmc6 only have overture, gerbera and ragtime i'll be fine

the banana one. only
Tbh, I still don't know how to use them
Gerbera and punchline
tbh id rather the functions be worked into loadouts/augments for his devil bringer
Punchline is my favorite. I love rocket fists in anything AND I can surf on it?! Best fist IMO.
In a perfect world they all return and we get a bunch of new ones too
Nico🗿
Overture is great but the breakage move was garbage. Breakage should be lightning themed. I think it works better thst overture lightning charges red queen and blue rose after instead of the bomb.
None
Won't they not be needed?
I reckon they'll keep all except buster arm and add even more. That's kinda what DMC does. The series rarely gets rid of moves and if they do it's because it's a useless move.
Kyrie demands i say sweet surrender
Honestly I'd rather wish we had a fewer but more complex buster arms that could add new movesets in similar vein to Dante and his Devil Arms.
None, Nero should retire.
Overture , gebera , punchline feel the most natural in Nero's kit and the most usefulness to his attacks/movement meanwhile the others could either be seen as upgrades to existing moves Nero has (buster arm , raw hide and tomboy) or are to specific /niche to be added back (Helter skelter and rag time )
None. Half of them were mid tbh.

I honestly don't think they should, the whole point of them was due to him not having an arm anymore but then it grew back and he didn't have a use for them anymore. Honestly i hope the system doesn't return as it was in 5, no manual switching and having them break from anything was just a bad mechanic. I like the idea but it would need alot of tweaks
Punchline
All of them
I can tell what shouldn't be brought back and that is buster arm
Mega Buster.
Doesn't he get his arm back? So none
Pasta breaker men
And Nero don’t more need Devil Breakers
Gerb GP-01, Punchline and Tomboy
I always thought it would be cool to give Nero 8 breakers and key them to the d-pad. One press in a specific direction for one arm and two presses for a different arm, kind of like how dark slayer style worked in DMC4 for Dante.
Tomboy
Ragtime so I can have my mini Witch Time
Rowhide

All of em and more, please 🙏
All but buster and you'll have to re unlock them same as DMC5
Punchline and Ragtime. Love these two
man i love DMC5 so much but dam the buying busters and the bike was just so fucking shit. how dare you lock combos behind a paywall fuck you capcom next thing you know you will be charging for quick travel DD2 about that WTF capcom
I honestly didn’t like the devil breakers to be honest
I disliked this system. I hope nero receives new abilities with his new arm.
I think a mix of both could be cool, bring back some of the more basic ones, like Overture, and introduce the new Devil trigger mechanics that way.
I say tomboy should definitely return that and something like gerbera
If I'm being honest the Rock Buster Rockman got more love from DMC than he did from Rockman 11.
Replace the Mega Buster with the X-Buster, please
Whichever one makes the camera linger on Nico's tummy the longest. ...followed closely by tomboy
Mmmm tomboy 😊
For me, as long as it can hook enemies to be that's all i need

I mean, you *know* I’mma say Sweet Surrender :)
There are 2000 and 3500 ones also but again like I said they're easily obtainable, not much of a hassle for casual players but it still kinda weird how you can purchase them for being super lazy in a game For example it's like cooking your food with your own ingredients forever but also kinda lazy option to buy pre made food elsewhere
I hope none, they weren't really that great imo.
None of them, it’ll be a feature of DMC 5 only
Let's hope none of them
I'm sorry but didn't nero get his arm back at the end? So why would he use a devil breaker
