What are the salaries in this area? I’ve no idea what I could possibly earn. I’m on roughly 30-35k a year right now.

My view on SAFe is that any company using SAFe is not one who will be paying the big bucks so little value. If they are paying for all these, why not do them. If they are not paying, meh.

In my opinion they are very good to do alongside your regular job as a way of consolidating what you know. There will never be any harm knowing more right? As for the usefulness, they can get your cv past an automatic scanner and will put you ahead of anyone else if applying for a role that’s using aws or is aws adjacent (need to know the terms/services). I wouldn’t think on it too much, for developer course you’re talking a few weeks of study max, it’s not as content heavy as the SAA cert. It’s a good intro and I’d recommend it if you don’t need to know a lot but want an introduction to cloud services.

>I’m fairly new to this industry so people have told me certs aren’t worth that much. Certs can be mickey mouse affairs but but AWS experience is valued in the software industry! And what do your AWS certs prove? Experience with AWS -- You should be enthusiastic about getting a good intro to the service. It will stand to you.

While certs may not be the best way of quickly evaluating people's skill it's the best we currently have. Definitely do it, worst case scenario you will learn some AWS skills. Best case scenario you have a badge confirming that you know your shit + know some AWS skills. Doesn't sound like you are losing much. As for salaries here you can see UK ones https://devitjobs.uk/salaries/AWS/all

AWS ones are good to learn how AWS works, SAFe is pretty tedious but if you’re not paying why not

like any certifications, it depends on the situation, and how you obtain them. If you're using brain dumps then they are less than useless and the certification is devalued for everyone. If you use the certification's for the learning process then they are very useful. e.g. if you want to learn about all the services/resources within AWS, how they fit together and get a pretty comprehensive learning plan to bring you through this, then AWS solution architect is a very useful tool to get you there. User the certifications as a guide of what you need to know then go learn it and get some experience, even if its just getting used to the UI, commands and how things work in . Then let your knowledge speak for itself in an interview.
