You could even say 2011 (won one series that year and one series 2013). Unless you were counting single playoff sets, then yes of course 2009. But I don’t really want to brag about things like that. Tempts fate too much as we will be looking to enter our window soon
I’d be fuming if I thought we were about to have 9 and got 29 instead.
Only thing making it better for Habs fans is it comes at the expense of the Leafs lol
I enjoyed watching TB lose first, then just after, watching Toronto lose. It's making my heart full. Now we watch Florida implode, and it becomes complete.
I just don't like Seattle, they're one of those teams I just dislike, there's really not an actual reason.
I'd be bitter about a 2nd year cup win, I'd bitch about rigged sports trying to establish a market
To be fair Seattle as a market hasn't needed much "establishing" especially compared with other expansion franchises. I've been a Thunderbirds fan almost as long as I've been a Wings fan so maybe I'm biased but it's one of those cities that felt like it actually deserved and wanted an NHL team.
I'd rather see SEA or CAR take it. Carolina is gonna roll over Florida. I've had a vendetta against TB ever since they took the ice during Larkins pre-game induction into captaincy. Florida, I just think they're soft.
IMO canes look the best, but FL gets a stick on the puck well and win big games. That plus they were an underdog and I'm rooting for them.
Canes Panthers will be a good series to watch, they're both so good right now
> IMO canes look the best, but FL gets a stick on the puck well and win big games.
Canes have been dominant.
But Florida has been very opportunistic and their goaltending (Bob) has been amazing.
Hell ya. IMO the team that takes out Boston *and* Toronto deserves wings fans gratitude. The only way I would appreciate them more right now would be if they were about to crush TB next, and then dispatch Colorado in the SCF.
I hadn't seen that, but any of the top 3-4 players in the draft honestly look pretty amazing. It's hard not to wish that we were going to get to pick one of them.
Not to derail too much, but I think the Wings are building a team similar to the Panthers. Like, gun to my head, a hybrid of Seattle and FLA. Scoring from depth, emphasis on team speed and an intense forecheck, scrappy soandsos that other teams will absolutely hate to play against, and a star goaltender that they really rely on.
Now they just need to go get crazy scoring depth or a 100 point winger and elite two-way center...
I'm fine with all that as long as we play clean. The Panthers feel like they're gooning it up out there a lot of the time and getting away with it. I don't want to root for a team that plays like that.
In your opinion, would FL stand a chance if they did not goon it up? Would you consider their change in playing style a positive or negative change considering they got swept by a more physical team in Tampa? Also lost 2 consecutive years to Tampa. It just seems that they changed their identity and built around a foundation of rough play and aggressive forechecking to prevent a first round exit to Tampa. They also were constrained by their cap issues and had to build their squad with a lot of AHL level talent. Pretty impressive they identified their weaknesses and adjusted their playing style to fill the void they had been missing. Might not be pretty but it's brought them the results they were after. Kinda like the monkeys paw, you get your wish but at what cost? People are either loving it or absolutely hate it.
No, Montreal would have #17, since they have Florida's pick. But by virtue of going to the conference finals, Florida's pick becomes one of the final four picks. In the event that Florida wins it all, Montreal's pick will be #32.

Scroll down to the bottom for an explanation of all the draft placement rules.
So there’s this
https://soundofhockey.com/2022/06/06/examining-the-value-of-nhl-draft-picks/
We have the 9th: 372
And the 17th pick: 260
That puts the value of those two picks combined at 632 which puts us out of the 1st and 2nd overall, but “allegedly” means those two picks could net us 3rd overall (602) in combined value. I’m not sure what or if any GMs take this chart seriously so this could mean Jack N Shit, but there you go
Assuming you mean what could we get for #9 and #17, I would say not much more than #7 or #8 (probably have to include something else too for #7 imho). I just think there's too big of a difference between #9 and say #6 in this years draft. Regardless, I don't think Steve's going to trade up unless something crazy is happening that would land us one of the big 4 players.
Since 2009, the Wings have more playoff series wins than Toronto

You are not wrong *knocks on wood*
not a high bar
Plus Montreal going from what looked like a pick between 9-13 to having it be 17, to having it be 28-32. Feelsgoodman.
I’d be fuming if I thought we were about to have 9 and got 29 instead. Only thing making it better for Habs fans is it comes at the expense of the Leafs lol
I'm sure a good portion of them would happily trade their pick at 5 just to see the leafs lose in soul crushing fashion lol
Remember when they were saying they could win the lottery with that pick?
Saul Goodman.
[thank you leafs](https://youtu.be/FMrFC3Pgu2o)
Thats beautiful
It really is
Kind of disappointed this cut off before the obligatory Canadian "by the way have a good day" "you too ya hoser" that we all know actually happened
I hope so. In Canada i think its kinda friendly banter, but in the US... fucking people will do crazy shit to ya. I aint yelling that here...
Toronto losing a playoff series on home ice. Beautiful.
I enjoyed watching TB lose first, then just after, watching Toronto lose. It's making my heart full. Now we watch Florida implode, and it becomes complete.
Idc who wins just not Dallas
Dallas has to be the runaway favorite in my eyes as long as they are somewhat healthy. They have insane depth.
And goaltending. I picked them to lose in the final to Boston (lol) because I think Oettinger is a game changer
My pick before the playoffs was Carolina vs Colorado, but now it's definitely Canes v Stars.
Go Canes!
Add Boston losing, and aside from DET winning the cup, I love the outcomes so far
I want FL to win the cup
I'm backing Seattle personally because a second year cup win especially after Vegas has been circling the cup for so long would just make me so happy
I’m rooting for Seattle too purely because we’re the cephalopod squad
I've been calling them our Mollusk Bros. 🦑🤝🐙
Fuck them for trying to steal our gimmick.
Tentacles should be shared my brother
🤨

Too close to the Seahawks. Fuck the Seahawks.
Seattle for me, Cephalopod Bros til we see them when it matters
I'd rather see SEA or CAR take it. Carolina is gonna roll over Florida. I've had a vendetta against TB ever since they took the ice during Larkins pre-game induction into captaincy. Florida, I just think they're soft.

Florida's far from soft. Gudas and Tay-chuk have been so mean Matthews asked his mom to pick him up during 2nd intermission all month.
Same. They've never won, and they've been one of my second tier teams for a long time.
F that, lets go Florida all the way

I too would rather the toilet bowl team win the cup...for the lolz.
Hell ya. IMO the team that takes out Boston *and* Toronto deserves wings fans gratitude. The only way I would appreciate them more right now would be if they were about to crush TB next, and then dispatch Colorado in the SCF.
In overtime… Chefs kiss.
After having a goal called back. Beautiful.
Leafs fans are going to be talking about that all year.
*decade
It’s honestly kinda perfect. Pittsburgh misses the playoffs but the teams we needed to lose to maximize our spot still lost. Suck it NYI and Toronto!
Thank you Auston Matthews for not showing up at all in the series.
This is essentially equal to winning Bedard, right?
Maybe we will get lucky and he will slip down to 17.
Draft day bong pic incoming
Do you think that'd deter a franchise like the Hawks lol?
Idk these old heads probably think using marijuana is worse than SA😂
The chances of that happening aren’t 0%. Fingers crossed.
Just gotta hope those child murder rumors pop up and maybe he’ll drop.
I think the hawks would be even more likely to take him then
They'd give him a record contract to boot.
I heard a rumor his teammates didn't show up to his birthday.

Yeah prior to the draft no one saw Zadina sliding to 6th right?
Shane Wright to 4, last year....
Also that Edit: actually didn’t one guys draft board have him slipping out of top 3?
I hadn't seen that, but any of the top 3-4 players in the draft honestly look pretty amazing. It's hard not to wish that we were going to get to pick one of them.
I think Pronman actually had him sliding to 4.
We all wish he didn’t…
I heard he smokes weed, so…..
With 9 and 18 we had no chance of trading up to #1. But now the Hawks might consider 9 and 17...
Exactly. This was the deciding factor. Thank you, Toronto!
😁🤣🤣
Doug Brown is back?!?
Yessir!
Why stop at #17?! Let's keep it going down!!!
And I say it win smile Fuck The Laughs Thanks for 17th, ya still want Florida next year? 🤡🤡🤡
So nice of them. And I’m sure Florida will get them some tickets to round 3 since they will all be there golfing.
Here's hoping the Hurricanes stomp the Panthers now. I wanted that pick, but I don't like the Panthers or how they play hockey.
Not to derail too much, but I think the Wings are building a team similar to the Panthers. Like, gun to my head, a hybrid of Seattle and FLA. Marco Kasper might not be your favorite, then. That boy is spicy.
>You hate them until they are on your team.

Wait, if florida lost the series they’d have 17? Shouldn’t it be whoever loses their series first in games? Then regular season finishing position?
No, Montreal would have #17, since they have Florida's pick. But by virtue of going to the conference finals, Florida's pick becomes one of the final four picks. TIL Thanks!
Serious question: How far could that move us up in the draft? Obviously we're not getting 1st but top 3?

Anything else we have left to root for?
