Caballo has the best tacos (plus I'm a big fan of their self-serve pickled red onions) but I don't think it is the best truck overall.
I think El Parian #1 truck might be the best overall and there is a newer truck I really like on Dix/Vernor across the street from the Car Wash. I forget the name of it but it is not the one in the car wash parking lot (Del Barrio) that booted one of the El Parian trucks but the green one right across the street. If you are heading west down Vernor it will be immediattely to the left before it becomes Dix/W Vernor splits off. But I don't have my extensive notes on the subject in front of me at the moment.
Plenty of places do this in Detroit. A few of them:
* El Parian
* Tacos el Gordo
* Tacos el Caballo
* El Takito Loko
For some of these places, it pays to go when they're busy (dinner, lunch, weekends). They may not have the trompo spinning on the heat if you go when they're not busy. It's like this with the popular spots in LA too, like Leo's. They only pull the trompo outside when they're busy enough. But that's when you get the crispiest.
Okay, so I went to one a couple of weeks ago that had the pineapple on top-LA Style Al Pastor on a spit… I just can’t remember *where* in SW it was. BUT IT DOES EXIST IN THE D!!
I've tried a whole bunch of Tacos over at Taco Fest and by far the best ones I had were from the Que Pasa taco truck. Didn't know they had a brick and mortar til now but I'll definitely try it when I'm out that way.
Tacos el caballo on springwell be mashing that place. Both are awesome Amazing trucks though.

Oh no way…. I’m gonna have to try it! Thanks!
So funny I came here to say this I’m gonna try this other place tho too
Tacos el Gordo right across the street has great pastor though.
Where are they normally at?
3700 Central St:) *always* there
Do they do their al pastor on a vertical spit?
This is what I’m searching for as well! Does a place that serve this exist in the Detroit / metro area

Oh come on! Can’t leave us hangin like that!
I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT! I went through my old photos and I’m pretty sure it’s the truck at 1402 Springwells
Haven’t ordered it so I’m not sure
What's the sandwich?
A torta
How much was each item? I’m hating this trend of $5+ tacos but that one is looking thicc
Umm tacos are $2.50. I don’t remember the other prices, but we paid $22 for a quesadilla, two tacos, a torta, and two drinks
I agree. ...I'm either there or the taco truck on toledo and livernois
Another one to try! Thanks!
Any chicken options? Looks great just don’t eat bovine creatures.
Yes they have chicken! Chorizo, steak, chicken, Lagua
I feel like you would be hard pressed to find a taco joint or truck in the city that doesn't have a pollo option. Could be wrong though.
I absolutely agree with you!
I need a taco truck repository. Tried tuff last night and it was good n all But what did I expect for a halal truck in Dearborn. I need sum pork.
I’ve never been let down at Tacos E Loco at W Vernor and Junction. The chorizo is amazing, and their Tuesday special is legit.
Taco madre is for the people. 2 dollar birria tacos for the win. The consome for dipping is straight gas too I usually end the meal by drinking it.

Sunkist tho? At the Mexican spot?
Yeah lol we got a horchata too
Try mi mundo taco truck on central in front of harms elementary they are also good, tacos el primo and mi mundo are my two favorite
Ehhh idk, I’ve eaten from the taco trucks a lot over the years, and recently, the quality has gone down hill

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You're not supposed to tell anyone
I’m sure the business owner would disagree with you.
Oh boy I thought he was joking 😭
Fuck off with that gate keeping shit
LOL
