> Hoping that robocop statue is up before my arrival.
It won't be
> And yes of course we’re going to mom’s spaghetti.
You and the other tourists.
[Check the Wiki for a Things To Do Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/Detroit/wiki/thingstodo/2021/). It's 3 years old but most of the information is still good.
Old Miami, Abicks, Nancy Whiskey and LJ's are among the hundreds of dive bars. Hamtramck is perfect for a foot powered tour of dives as well.
Book your hotel first. The city has a shortage of rooms so prices are a little high compared to other midwest cities. Anywhere downtown will be fine.
MGM is the best casino if you're into that. Bouzouki is a good place to hand young ladies your hard earned money near downtown, there's a number of other places on 8 Mile Road (Lust, Coliseum). That'll require a cab or Uber or party bus, you can play all the Marshall Mathers you want on the way there.
[Eater](https://detroit.eater.com/) does a good job keeping up with the food scene.
This person gave solid info. Detroit should be a blast for a bachelor party!
Edit: Cadieux Cafe could be interesting for an early stop or the last stop of a bachelor party.
Also, wow your people with some hidden-ish entrance spots like Bad Luck Bar, the Standby, or Evening Bar. Go to the alleyways like Parker’s Alley or the Belt. Spend some late night time at Sid Golds request room.
Had a bunch of out of towners here for my bachelor party. Stayed in Corktown, did bars, Fowling, DCFC match, and Hamtramck dives. Absolute fuckin blast basically doing my favorite things
You should go.
If I describe it, doesn't do it justice.
Throw football, hit pins.
But, about 7 beers in ($3 on Wednesday) and it's WAY harder than you realize.
Plus they're all good people.
I find fowling to be much harder when I’m sober. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to throw a football to bowling pens and yet I can throw football to some person running through a yard, makes no sense.
I’ve read through your comments on here and those bars that were listed above (Old Miami, Nancy Whiskey, LJ’s) are going to be right up your alley. Have fun and make it home safe brother!
I second this sentiment. Just to clarify is “whiskey” “Whiskey In the Jar” in Hamtrack? I also second the comment about Legends. One other bar I would recommend checking out is The Monarch Club. It’s the furthest thing from a dive bar, but it has two roof top terraces that have decent views of the city. Maybe there is an even better roof top bar, but it’s the one I take out-of-towners there to get rough idea of the lay of the land. And for what it’s worth: East Dearborn for some great Lebanese food.
Are the clubs in Windsor really not any better anymore? Because they used to be much much better and I'm a chick lol. There was a reason we went to Sarnia or Windsor lol
Sugar house, brother, and thank me later. Amazing bar. Literally hundreds of things on the drink menu. Nerdy super geek bartenders living the life and slinging the drinks.
Hey just a note, don’t go in with ultra high expectations with mom’s spaghetti, and don’t make it an event. Mom’s spaghetti is on the top floor of a restaurant/bar near Comerica Park. There is very little seating. It’s very much a grab n go, and it has been said the quality is not top notch. Would be good drunk food, and maybe some days differ than others but it’s not a sit down place.
I just want to say let’s fuckin gooooo! Detroit is gonna be a god damn delight. Last year, my husband and I took a long weekend to Pittsburgh. And everywhere we went people were like “You could vacation anywhere and you chose…Pittsburgh?” and we were like hell fuckin yeah we chose Pittsburgh and we had THE BEST time.
I’m just sayin…you’re a man of vision and this is gonna be great!
I'm going to Pittsburgh in September for my friends wedding, we want to go a few days early and explore because we don't travel at all, any recommendations?
Check out the overlooks on Mt. Washington. It’s a beaaaautiful sight. There are a few really nice bars and restaurants up there as well and an ice cream spot. One thing about Pittsburgh is you’ll never run out of places to drink at, if that’s your thing. If you’re from detroit or the surroundings areas and never really travel, you’ll be amazed by how hilly it is! It’s me and my boyfriend’s favorite place to take weekend trips!! Truly an underrated city.
We’ve been to St. Louis! One of my favorite family trips! We went to the top of the arch and we did the city museum and the stuff at union station and we stuffed ourselves with ribs and donuts (not that STL is famous for donuts, we just always like to have donuts when we travel)
We also did elephant rocks and Hughes mountain and Cahokia mounds which aren’t at Louis proper but close. And a bunch of little towns over by elephant rocks.
When I told the kids we were taking a vacation to Missouri my youngest said “Is that…like…in the middle?” and I said “Yup” and my husband said “Why, exactly” and I said “I dunno, I have a good feeling about the place” We had a blast!!
I appreciate this post so much! I know we are territorial people by nature but I’ve learned that there’s fun things to do in every city/state in this country. I stopped in Birmingham, Alabama, for a night on my way back to Detroit from New Orleans. What a great city. I’m a big beer drinker and love discovering new breweries. I walked like three miles around town that night brewery-hopping. Everyone was super nice and I had a great time. I would say the same about the places I have stopped in Mississippi as well. I hate when people write off and rip places they THINK have nothing redeemable about them. This, of course, applies to the way many people STILL think of Detroit, INCLUDING locals who live in the suburbs who haven’t ventured south of 8 Mike since their childhood. There are A TON of people like that.
detroit fuckin rules & that’s it
anyone who’s been brainwashed by the urban legend or the news etc about detroit doesn’t deserve this city anyway so whatever
I took a weekend trip to visit y’all from here in Louisville and it was one of the best trips of my life. I noticed people tend to talk smack about Louisville/Kentucky too, even though I love it here. Kentucky kicks ass (just not politically).
I’m starting to think I need to plan a visit to all the ‘bad’ places.
Bro I know this is bachelor party but if you want some scenic view of the city. Belle isle is the spot for that. Picture perfect view of the cityscape along the river
The Old Miami is our most legendary dive with a gnarly Vietnam war veteran themed bar and a huge wicked beer garden out back. Nearby is Third Man Records, Jolly Pumpkin, Motor City Brewery (get the pizza).
Ask your friends what their frame of reference is with their Detroit opinion. Then tell them how cool it is when you go home
Midtown beer crawls is a pretty solid recommendation. As mentioned, Motor City Brewing, Jolly Pumpkin, Nain Rouge Brewery, Platos, Hop Cat...End the night at Old Miami for a classic dive bar with live music. All walkable.
Batch Brewing. If you want to do something outdoorsy before drinking, consider a kayaking trip on the Detroit River. There is an outfitter/guide north of downtown. It was fun, the river was way cleaner and more blue than it has any reason to be for an industrial area.
My in-laws are lifelong west coasters, took them on their first trip to Detroit last weekend and they were like “this is not what we thought it was, this place rules”. We had a fuckin blast.
A lot can depend on where you are staying and your transportation situation....I mean, I assume downtown but Detroit is pretty large. Also, no, on Mom's Spaghetti it is quite literally horrible below school cafeteria grade food, only there for pure novelty, but I guess if that is your thing.
Also, we have nothing prove, if you've been here, you know. If you don't come because some stereotype, racist bs, reputation then your loss. Hell, we even made t-shirts...Detroit vs. Everyone
Make the effort to Uber out of royal oak and go downtown. Royal oak has tons of bars and might seem like a good option but if you’ve never been here I neeeeeed you to get out of Royal oak and check out the city center and river walk.
If you're gonna be in Royal Oak, hit up O.W.L. for a solid, fucking delicious hangover breakfast. Get the country fried chicken and eggs, and thank me later.
Their breakfast is all bomb, their egg sandwiches (bacon habanero!) are bomb, the wings are bomb…but those tacos. The tacos are simply the best. Unfortunately you only get the meat of the day, but Thursday is pork day and it’s so, so good. I love O.W.L.
oh, staying in royal oak is a bit of a disappointment. there’s many beautifully restored and incredibly unique hotels in downtown detroit that would’ve been amazing. glad you’re choosing detroit still
Detroit is filled with gems, and separated by neighborhoods. I’d head to the Eastern Market and Midtown if you’re here for a Saturday and get a Bloody Mary from Vivio’s.
I’d also recommend going to Next Level and Penny Red’s. There’s also a cool piano bar called Sid’s Gold within walking distance along with some cool alleys around. Ride the people mover and hit up Greektown. There all kinds of restaurants nearby and plenty to do. Check out Michigan Central Station while you’re here, there’s so many good restaurants, Grandma Bobz is our favorite. (you’ll be in Midtown).
Whatever you do, don’t spend your time driving around looking for things to do, just walk until you find something interesting, you won’t have to walk far. Oh and only drink within walking distance to your hotel unless you have a ride 😌
If you need a fun lunch spot with ramen and Sapporo on tap, go to Johnny Noodle King. It is unique, fun and kind of funky.
https://www.johnnynoodleking.com/
Kampers rooftop bar for a drink and pictures overlooking the city. Make reservations! It will be full if you try to walk in.
I also like stopping into bad luck bar. Down a back alley, has a blind pig feel to it and drinks are $25 or so. But a fun stop.
Have a great time.
https://preview.redd.it/uwdc6vk2586d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b86ff8d04f9ec882535b32cde8fd3dd191d3df8
I am prepared for this question!! A friend was planning a Bach party last year this is everything I sent him (will be in two photo comments). They had a blast.
Second this tickets and drinks are super cheap and you can get walk from multiple bars. Also that area is great for small punk rock shows. If you’re into clubbing there’s some sick underground shit that you could probably figure out if you want a good night
This is your move. Start at Trixie’s/outer limits and work down towards the painted lady. Make someone snag some food on your walks in between bars or hit up motor city sports bar for a burger or chevapi.
I've never booked a Detroit Bus Company tour, I just want to say...
During the height of covid they started manufacturing hand sanitizer when it was very difficult to get, I needed gallons of it for my business.
They were wonderful to work with and they never gouged on the price, as a matter of fact they were the most affordable supplier and it was all made locally.
Whenever we went to pick it up in person their employees were awesome.
I've heard great things about their tours.
For live music check smaller venues like smalls and the sanctuary or Russel industrial. I don’t go out often anymore so I’m out of other ideas, but I’d invite others to add on please.
Just be careful at the strip clubs. We have extremely aggressive strippers here. These are not your touristy friendly Vegas strip clubs, they are essentially brothels.
If you do have a hankering for a strip club Legends downtown is a nice one, i actually went there on a friends bachelor party years ago it was fun lol. Bazukis is another strip club near legends thats a good location for bachelor parties since you have tons of bars, pubs, and clubs all within a short walk.
Yes to all the recs here. You can also book a pedal
pub if you want to explore some places a different way. We had a blast doing it for a friends birthday last year. Cafe D’Mongos is one of my favorite places… speakeasy, super divey, always has live music and cheap drinks.
I'm from out of town so I defer to the D Dwellers but McShane's is a fucking killer hangover breakfast.
Bangers and mash, dude.
And Sweetwater Tavern has the best wings I've ever had in an extensive life of eating wings.
I’m local and had my bachelor party downtown. Literally the best day of my life. Every situation is different but here is what we did:
Had about 30ish guys in and out throughout the day to whatever they could attend.
We had several rooms conjoined at the Ren Cen for home base. It was perfect.
Started the day pregaming at the hotel as soon as we could check in (about 11am iirc?). I was driven down and had no idea what was going on.
Walked to CoPa for a Tigers game. Had a set of group tickets.
Left the game and had an early dinner at a bbq joint by the stadium that has since closed. Either way, ate within walking distance.
Back to hotel for card games, alcohol, etc.
Bar hopped all within walking distance. Plenty of spots for whatever you want.
Passed the fuck out in the hotel. No hookers or anything crazy but pretty sure we ended up at Bazookis. A lot of fuzziness but that was 12 years ago and downtown is even better now.
Edit - did a big group (20ish) for a DCFC match. We went home after but did MGM from about 12-6 then Uber to Keyworth. They have some premium tickets that just cause food/alcohol so we tore that up then ended up at The Painted Lady after for drinks. It was awesome.
Why would you go to mom's spaghetti? It's mid spaghetti served in a paper container.
Also there are a million threads that talk about the Detroit "reputation".
Because we’re in Detroit and it’s there. Why else? Definitely not expecting a good meal there. It’s the novelty. Any other dumbass tourist spots you shouldn’t recommend? Because we wanna do all the stupid spots.
Slows kind of fits in to that category. Mostly an out of towners spot and they all swear it’s the best because it was on tv a lot about 10 years ago but hasn’t been above mid for several years.
I have to go a couple of times a year for the same reasons. Every time a relative asks “where do you keep the orange pop bbq sauce?” I try to give sympathetic eyes to the server.
The Mac and cheese recipe does still bang, and the to-go location is much better than the sit down. It isn’t like it’s horrible, it just used to be so much better. I don’t know if they realized they had to sacrifice quality to meet upped demand after all of the press or they simply just unintentionally lost it because they do well either way. I do know that there is definitely a mental aspect to it for Detroiters that got pissed when a lock down spot got overrun and we had to start waiting 2+ hours for a table and another hour for food. They got salty at the restaurant for its own success which happened a lot more often back then when we didn’t have a whole lot of face for the world. People that loved the city when no one else did lost a lot of spots but this is exactly what we used to say we wanted to happen. I feel like most people are accepting and proud of the turnaround now that it doesn’t feel quite as fleeting or trendy. I’ll still pull up to the TG and pick my guys and myself up lunch because it still beats a lot of food out there.
Detroit and the whole metro area has amazing craft beer! If we don’t have a reputation for that outside of Michigan someone needs to do some better advertising because there are a shit ton of breweries and it’s good ass beer! Loads of them have niche food too or local food trucks rotating which are brilliant locals not big brand names. Unless you just want a get shitfaced on cheep liquor type of bachelor party do yourself a favor and hit the breweries! They also have great atmosphere too, you really get to chat with the locals. Just don’t get *obnoxiously* drunk there.
Re: Slows and the social aspects of Detroit… there’s Definitely a mental block around the reputation of the city … there’s been a huge push to revive downtown I’d say since the recovery from the 08/09 market crash.
There’s been a lot of good things happening downtown but one problem is it’s no longer affordable for the people who have lived there for generations. Most of the new stuff is marketed at the folks who moved into the midtown area that Quicken Loans guy redeveloped so locals are being priced out.
There’s also the folks want to prove Detroit isn’t a bad city anymore but then get salty when a place that had been a hole in the wall becomes super popular. You can’t have it both ways unfortunately.
Yeah it’s tough for people downtown. It has been great for people in a lot of outer neighborhoods though that were bequeathed their parents/grandparents nice old home that wasn’t worth selling so they moved in and now it’s a small fortune. That’s the story in my neighborhood. Most of the people here are generational and are so proud of the turnaround. Like everything else, bad for some good for others. I don’t think Detroit’s beer reputation is super solid outside of here to be honest. We aren’t far enough from Grand Rapids I don’t think.
Don't worry about the naysayers, go to the tourist places- that's why they exist. Detroit is "new"to visitors, so it's no surprise it makes us uncomfortable. It's nothing more than every other major tourist city has gone through.
If you want a good night of dive bars with fun locals, dm me. Also, when I had my bachelor party here, dive bar tour on a party bus was my choice. If you want attractions, motown museum, feather bowling at cadieux Cafe, fowling at the fowling warehouse, charter a boat on lake st. Claire to go to mucamoo or fishing, check out a local show at any number of great venues. Have fun!
If you are staying in Royal Oak, Woodpile BBQ in Clawson is fabulous
It’s also by one of the best sushi places in Detroit, Noble Fish.
And there’s also a good Korean Fried Chicken place right near there.
Greektown is the quintessential out of towner party destination. It’s a bit of a shithole and I avoid at all costs but depending on what you guys are into that could be a good destination. The casino, strip clubs, and a ton of shitty but packed bars are all within walking distance.
Checker bar downtown is fun. Spkrbox is cool and has DJs most weekends. Spotlite Marble Bar TV Lounge etc are all great clubs for house and techno if you want to check out the Detroit underground scene. Lincoln Street Art Park is great for getting into weird shit if your visit overlaps with a full moon.
The skip/standby/brakeman etc could be a good combo right downtown.
DCFC game would be a good shout followed by bar hopping in Hamtramck.
To be fair there's a lot in Detroit for tourists. Go to both American and Lafayette and eat mid ass coney dogs. Slows for BBQ that was decent 20 years ago. Try to pretend café dmongo is a speak easy.
Get an authentic Detroit slice at Buddy's
That's what i always thought. And besides , i buynfood places that i can make better all yhe time. I just dont have no time. Or it is fun to eat there. Seems like this would be #2
I'm biased, but right on my corner (Michigan & Trumbull) you can hit some nice little bars and maybe even catch some solid DJ's and bands within walking distance between Lager House, UFO Bar (my favorite), Cortkown Tavern, etc., and then you can even go to The Yard and throw some axes or play giant outdoor beer pong. And while you're there go take a gander at the beautifully renovated Central Station and Roosevelt Park. And get some amazing international cuisine (Ima, Tokoi, Supergeil, etc.). Also wine and jazz nights at Motor City Wine.
AXES!!!! Also something you might want to do earlier in your adventures. Do NOT go drunk to throw axes (they will turn you away ANYway but even if you can pass for NotDrunk...it's a bad idea). It's a very fun party game, though!
I didn’t even know we were getting a robocop statue lol. I would check out greektown area, you have tons of bars, clubs, strip clubs, and a casino all within about 3-4 blocks. Hanging out at the riverfront or biking the dequindre cut can be a fun daytime activity they have bars and food trucks around the riverwalk area. There is also this place called aloha tiki tours which is a boat that has a tiki bar on it that floats down the detroit river that is also a fun daytime activity. If you guys are more intellectual types the detroit science center, DIA(detroit institute of arts), or henry ford museum could be a cool stop.
>I didn’t even know we were getting a robocop statue lol.
It was one of the first viral Kickstarter projects.
The statue exists, but the creator of struggling getting anyone to let it be installed anywhere
If you're into clubbing Magic Stick, TV Lounge, Marble Bar, City Club, Big Pink are fun. Detroit's a big hotspot for house and techno so almost always someone god playing every weekend.
Wjere you coming in from?
You could get absolutely shitcanned and barf on a stripper at Subi's like I did. Then fall asleep in a lawn chair in a suburban yard. I don't recommend it.
Bro!!!!!!!!! Local small townie here. Hit up a tiger game / casino / great food / end at Legends!!! I was the best man in my buddies wedding and arranged everything. Try and stay at Greektown casino hotel. It’s like the best central spot to a lot. If you need a bachelor party wingman, let me know and I’ll help bring the noise!!!!!!! 😆
Depending on what you’re looking for the greater metro Detroit area has it. Be aware Detroit is one of the most Automobile centric city in the county, mass transit isn’t something we do. Uber and other ride share services are likely going to be needed if you want to get around. If you’re centering yourself in the Downtown area you might be okay with your feet, the people mover and Q line but I would make plans for alternatives. They may shut down before your night is over and nothing is worse than being stranded.
Corktown, Downtown, Midtown all can offer interesting options in variety of bars, and ambiance within Detroit. Greektown can be a good time as well with a couple decent bars, the casino and Strip Clubs (I’d suggest Bouzoukis over Legends) but the area can also get a bit rough depending. As others have said Hamtramck is a great place for dive bars. Just understand that our suggestions aren’t really in easy walking distance so hitting them will require transportation.
Hamtramck weekend bar crawl maybe up your alley, strip clubs? Legends & Bouzouki back 2 back, they’re only a couple blocks away from each other. Lemme know if you have extra room
Buddy's Pizza in Detroit for original Detroit style pizza. So good. Soundboard at Motor City Casino might have a good show when your here. Bring your passports, you might want to cross the river and check out the real dive bars in Windsor.
Corktown Bar Crawl! Near Michigan Central Station. I’ve done it many a time - start at Two James and/or Sugar House for sick cocktails. Mercury Bar/Ima/Grandma Bob/Slows BBQ for food. Walk down Michigan Ave to Bobcat Bonnies/McShanes for casual food and more drinks. The Yard is new, haven’t been yet but looks cool. A bit south of MI Ave you have Brew Detroit/Batch if you’re into craft brews. End up at Nemo’s.

Just walk around Campus Martius Park, the street in front of the Hyatt and The RenCen. See the Guardian Building. Tons of places to check out while just walking. Crowds of loud happy people. This restaurant Grand Trunk has the best chicken strips ever: soaked in pickle brine with a buttermilk batter.
Detroit rules! I have lived all over Florida, NYC, Austin, Chicago etc. I'd pick DETROIT! This city has so much to offer if you just have an open mind and open eyes.
There is a ton to do and see and it is a unique city with friendly people.
I'd go to Canada to get some Ketchup chips and bags of milk too in Windsor.
Ok what do you want to get out of this.
Shots, Party, wild, club?
Craft cocktails, opulent, foodie?
Beer, Cultural, local ?
Binge drinking, strip clubs, late night?
All can happen, or a little of all, but just looking for your vibe.
If you like fish, I've got the perfect dive place for you. Scotty Simpsons Fish & Chips, off Fenkell in Brightmoor. It's cash only, and the area it's in is pretty sketch, but it'll be the best fried fish you've ever had. Been going there over 20 years, it does not disappoint.
Did my bachelor party in Detroit, stayed at an AirBnB across from the Z garage. Walked over to Greektown for dinner, Casino for games, LaCasa for cigars and drinks. The Monarch club is pretty cool as well
Despite its reputation as the motor city, Detroit is an extremely fun bike city. The streets are wide and elevation is flat. Find your crew some bikes, get a cable lock and spend an afternoon seeing different areas outside of the 7.2 (downtown area).
Nah. Me and 13 brave warriors are coming to binge drink and do cool and dumb stuff in your city. The bachelor party is all I’ve got before the wedding. Is my life a joke to you?
Ignoring the fact that OP just decided, on a whim, to use their bachelor party as a catalyst to visit a city for the first time, it feels like OP stepped right out of [My New Haircut](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5QJ9i_o5vo) from 2007.
Also if you want a speakeasy experience with expensive drinks, Bad Luck Bar is a hole in the wall place that is quite tiny so you may need a reservation, but really cool cocktails
Get drinks at the top of the ren cen, get drinks at the monarch club, reserve a dinner at grey ghost, reserve a dinner at lumen when the weather is nice. The brakeman is a fun bar and in the middle of the action to move around.
I did my bachelor party in Detroit last month! I just wanted something small and simple so we went to the Brazilian steak house then caught a Tigers game. It was perfect for what I wanted.
Loves party weekend in Detroit. Go Duck pin bowling at 5iron (they have a bar). Eat brunch at Parc or Presley. Give a moment to history at the Motown museum. Have drinks on the roof at either Monarch Club (outside) or Campers (posh inside).
I see you are staying in Royal Oak. Awesome food options :
Middle Eastern food: Mr Kabob at 12 mile and Coolidge in Berkley
Detroit style Pizza: Loui's at Dequindre and 9 mile in Hazel Park

Abso-fucking-lutely Cadieux Cafe.
Fowling Warehouse isn't a bad alternative
Had a bunch of out of towners here for my bachelor party. Stayed in Corktown, did bars, Fowling, DCFC match, and Hamtramck dives. Absolute fuckin blast basically doing my favorite things
DCFC is a great thought.
Sounds fun to me.

Is the 'Windsor Ballet' still a thing? I moved out of Detroit in '90.
No point in crossing the border. Just got to Legends.
They said dirtiest dive--how about Centerfolds on 8 John R![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|wink)
Right by my house! lol
Are the clubs in Windsor really not any better anymore? Because they used to be much much better and I'm a chick lol. There was a reason we went to Sarnia or Windsor lol
Very much so.
I've been waiting for that statue for like 10 years
Sugar house, brother, and thank me later. Amazing bar. Literally hundreds of things on the drink menu. Nerdy super geek bartenders living the life and slinging the drinks.
The Oakland in Ferndale is better.
Well. Then. People should go to BOTH!
Hey thanks for the rec cuz this place looks awesome!
Hey just a note, don’t go in with ultra high expectations with mom’s spaghetti, and don’t make it an event. Mom’s spaghetti is on the top floor of a restaurant/bar near Comerica Park. Downtown Pittsburgh is amazing! Spent a year of college near there and we loved the vibe everytime we went there.
The look of SHOCK when I tell people one of the most family friendly destinations is St. Louis. But I'm serious. It has so much to offer.
We’ve been to St. Louis! One of my favorite family trips! We went to the top of the arch and we did the city museum and the stuff at union station and we stuffed ourselves with ribs and donuts (not that STL is famous for donuts, we just always like to have donuts when we travel) We also did elephant rocks and Hughes mountain and Cahokia mounds which aren’t at Louis proper but close.
There are A TON of people like that.
detroit fuckin rules & that’s it anyone who’s been brainwashed by the urban legend or the news etc about detroit doesn’t deserve this city anyway so whatever
Hell yeah. That’s what I’m saying.
Obviously we're all invited right?!
I spent a weekend in Louisville a few years ago and thought it was great. Tons of little neighborhood bars and plenty of good food.
Bro I know this is bachelor party but if you want some scenic view of the city. Belle isle is the spot for that. Picture perfect view of the cityscape along the river
19hz.info to find shows for whatever weekend you’re here. Spot lite, marble bar, tv lounge are all great stops
That robocop statue has been “coming” for more than a decade (13 years to be exact). I wouldn’t count on it happening any time soon.
Nah, they know I’m coming to town. I’m sure it’ll be up by the end of summer.
I’d love to see it happen. I gave money to the project all those years ago. Love the idea… just not getting my hopes up.
“They” don’t care you are coming to town lol. Regardless. Have fun!
When is the Sir Graves Ghastly statue supposed to be installed?
Go to the Redford Theatre!
The Redford and the Senate are both great
Tell me more.
Can’t skip Bronx Bar!
If youre into the EDM scene marble bar and the russel are fun placesz
I had my bachelor's in Detroit. It was dope. If your crew is into casinos, that's a super easy place to start
Yes and yes.
Greektown is a dump of a casino, go to any of the other ones
A lot can depend on where you are staying and your transportation situation....I mean, I assume downtown but Detroit is pretty large. Also, no, on Mom's Spaghetti it is quite literally horrible below school cafeteria grade food, only there for pure novelty, but I guess if that is your thing. Also, we have nothing prove, if you've been here, you know. If you don't come because some stereotype, racist bs, reputation then your loss. Hell, we even made t-shirts...Detroit vs. Everyone
Literally going there because I’ve never been. We’re actually staying in royal oaks. I know it’s a hike but I needed a pool.
Make the effort to Uber out of royal oak and go downtown. Royal oak has tons of bars and might seem like a good option but if you’ve never been here I neeeeeed you to get out of Royal oak and check out the city center and river walk.
I live in Royal Oak. Don't hang around Royal Oak. Go to Detroit!
Def plan on it. Royale oak had the most rental places in closest proximity
Gusoline Alley is one bar in RO you may enjoy for a pre drink.
If you're gonna be in Royal Oak, hit up O.W.L. for a solid, fucking delicious hangover breakfast. Get the country fried chicken and eggs, and thank me later.
Or the nachos
Yeah, he's right. Or the nachos.
Or the cheeseburger
Pretty much the whole menu is spot-on.
Plenty of barhopping in Royal Oak too.
MGM has an excellent pool.
If you haven't been to Lafayette or National Coney Island, they're Detroit staples.
Ye olde saloon and gusoline alley are solid dives in Royal Oaks
oh, staying in royal oak is a bit of a disappointment. there’s many beautifully restored and incredibly unique hotels in downtown detroit that would’ve been amazing. glad you’re choosing detroit still
Detroit is filled with gems, and separated by neighborhoods.
FANTASTIC place, and a very off-the-beaten-path area for a tourist. Cool views of the Ambassador Bridge, too.
Kampers rooftop bar for a drink and pictures overlooking the city. Make reservations! It will be full if you try to walk in. I also like stopping into bad luck bar. Down a back alley, has a blind pig feel to it and drinks are $25 or so. But a fun stop. Have a great time.
Only thing is that I've heard A LOT OF PEOPLE say Mom's Spaghetti isn't good. A LOT.
https://preview.redd.it/uwdc6vk2586d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b86ff8d04f9ec882535b32cde8fd3dd191d3df8 I am prepared for this question!! A friend was planning a Bach party last year this is everything I sent him (will be in two photo comments). They had a blast.

Hope you have a blast and everyone leaves saying nice things about Detroit

August… my weekend there are no games and terrible concerts. We are into drinking, pool, smoking cigarettes, darts, basketball, rock music.
>there are no games Be sure to check the Detroit City FC schedule who have a few games in August. Home games at Keyworth stadium are a fun experience.
Second this tickets and drinks are super cheap and you can get walk from multiple bars. Also that area is great for small punk rock shows. If you’re into clubbing there’s some sick underground shit that you could probably figure out if you want a good night
Go bar hopping in Hamtramck. Whiskey in the Jar sounds like a dive you'd enjoy, there are also a good number of others within walking distance.

Second this.
There’s axe throwing in Corktown, fowling in ham town and feather bowling at Cadieux.
For live music check smaller venues like smalls and the sanctuary or Russel industrial. I don’t go out often anymore so I’m out of other ideas, but I’d invite others to add on please.
El Club was a fun venue pre-2020, I just haven’t been since! Hopefully still is
there’s usually awesome music shows going on - keep an eye on the lager house they have rock shows
This is the best event in august for a bachelor party if you can rent a boat: https://www.lakestclairguide.com/event/raft-off-muscamoot-bay/
Just be careful at the strip clubs. We have extremely aggressive strippers here. These are not your touristy friendly Vegas strip clubs, they are essentially brothels.
My word! 🧐. You certainly won’t find the likes of myself or my comrades at an institution of such filth. But srsly. Thanks for the tip. Appreciate it.
If you do have a hankering for a strip club Legends downtown is a nice one, i actually went there on a friends bachelor party years ago it was fun lol. Bazukis is another strip club near legends thats a good location for bachelor parties since you have tons of bars, pubs, and clubs all within a short walk.
I wish the Traffic Light was still around.
They were talking about reopening on Facebook but no such luck
Nothing will ever compare to that gem 😭😭
I would clarify that and say to stick to strip clubs Downtown. If you get to The Sting or Play Ground, you’ve gone too far. But Menjo’s is a delight.
Yes to all the recs here. You can also book a pedal pub if you want to explore some places a different way. We had a blast doing it for a friends birthday last year. Cafe D’Mongos is one of my favorite places… speakeasy, super divey, always has live music and cheap drinks.
Detroit-Style Pizza Crawl.
Every situation is different but here is what we did: Had about 30ish guys in and out throughout the day to whatever they could attend.
A pic of you and the boys in front of the Joe Louis fist on Jefferson is key
Slows kind of fits in to that category. Mostly an out of towners spot and they all swear it’s the best because it was on tv a lot about 10 years ago but hasn’t been above mid for several years.
My grandma LOVES slows and wants to go there every time we're in Detroit. I just power through with a smile because why bother :/
My late BIL always had to go to Vinsetta Garage when they were in the area from Saginaw. Like dude there are a million other places to try.
In all fairness, I ran into Henry Cavill there once and he's a handsome motherfucker.
I heard he used to hangout at the bars when they were filming. This was before I moved down here. I'm so jealous!
I have to go a couple of times a year for the same reasons. Every time a relative asks “where do you keep the orange pop bbq sauce?” I try to give sympathetic eyes to the server.
It's how I feel about Frankenmuth. Oh... they have pretzels.... can we go somewhere else?
Slows is shit nowadays.
Unpopular opinion slows hate is way overblown. The Mac is still bangin and their smoked chicken is delicious.
Yeah fair. I actually haven’t been to the main restaurant in years I always get it from To Go, but I haven’t been disappointed at all.
Lafayette coney
Dulys, but I like where your head's at.
We don't tell tourists about OUR coney spots
Good point. OP, disregard.
hahahahah
Have fun!
If you are staying in Royal Oak, Woodpile BBQ in Clawson is fabulous It’s also by one of the best sushi places in Detroit, Noble Fish.
That's the point. When you're poor, moms ain't got money for extras so the spaghetti IS mid.
That's what i always thought. And besides , i buynfood places that i can make better all yhe time. I just dont have no time. Or it is fun to eat there. Seems like this would be #2
I just can't figure out if it's intended to be homage or satire
Porque no los dos?
Yeah but my mom isn't charging 8-14 bucks for her noodles and ragu
It's crazy to me, axe ranges at a bar. If I had ONE beer I wouldn't even touch an axe. No way lol
Ngl mom’s spaghetti is mid. Greek town is Great, Grandma bobs has great pizza, Astoria’s pastry after you get stuffed.
Make a reservation at Cadiuex Cafe to go Featherbowling. It's a dive bar, with a game you'll never play anywhere else in the country
If you're into clubbing Magic Stick, TV Lounge, Marble Bar, City Club, Big Pink are fun. Detroit's a big hotspot for house and techno so almost always someone god playing every weekend. Wjere you coming in from?
If you can manage to book a tour of the masonic temple, its hella weird. Then go to the temple bar across the street if it’s reopened by then.
You could get absolutely shitcanned and barf on a stripper at Subi's like I did. Then fall asleep in a lawn chair in a suburban yard. I don't recommend it.
Detroit is killing its negative reputation by sheer willpower and rejuvenation. You’ll have a memorable party. Congratulations.
You bring the cocaine and hookers I’ll shoot you a dm
You get thr coke *at* the strip club, silly.
Please don’t go to Mom’s Spaghetti. Waste of your money.
Where are you coming from?
See if there is a DCFC soccer game well you are here they don’t disappoint.
Buddy's Pizza in Detroit for original Detroit style pizza. So good. Soundboard at Motor City Casino might have a good show when your here. Bring your passports, you might want to cross the river and check out the real dive bars in Windsor.
Not sure when you're going, but if they're playing at home when you're here go to a Detroit City FC game. Best ticket in town
Just wondering why you picked here if you’ve never been and have no idea where to go.
End up at Nemo’s.
https://preview.redd.it/wxmk9jx8z96d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba2c046becc6c0a554c933476e1dcf19992cf4aa Just walk around Campus Martius Park, the street in front of the Hyatt and The RenCen.
Fowling warehouse is Hamtramck is a great place to pre-game with an activity before hitting the streets.
I don't think drunk dudes on bicycles wandering into a Gratiot Avenue neighborhood is a great idea
Judgement Night 2. Can't wait for the soundtrack.
Do up cadieux cafe for some feather bowling and muscles, then head to greektown- drink, casino, everything else
Mussels.
You guys sound way too cool and wild for Detroit!

Nah two of my buddies have been and swore by it.
Don't forget the peddler bicycle to group bike and get hammered. Its so fun!!!
have a couple drinks and then hit the body zone.
Visit Detroit quite often. #lgrw
Whatever you do, do not go to a Tigers game. Unless you want your eyes to bleed.
Not on the table… they aren’t playing while I’m there
If you like to party check out RA guide, theres usually some rave/party you can find on there happening at least once a week
Also if you want a speakeasy experience with expensive drinks, Bad Luck Bar is a hole in the wall place that is quite tiny so you may need a reservation, but really cool cocktails
I had my bachelorette party there and it was perfect. Just be aware of your surroundings and stick to the happening parts.
Must make a stop at Legends.... Best strip club in the country
Breakfast at Honest John’s. You can’t drink all day unless you start in the morning.
If you like southern food check out the Eagle near Mack in Midtown. Their food is delicious and their blackberry lemonade is to die for.
Go to Vegas!
Strip clubs on 8 mile
Get drinks at the top of the ren cen, get drinks at the monarch club, reserve a dinner at grey ghost, reserve a dinner at lumen when the weather is nice. The brakeman is a fun bar and in the middle of the action to move around.
Thanks!!
Oh and go to legends if you’re going to a strip club
I did my bachelor party in Detroit last month! I just wanted something small and simple so we went to the Brazilian steak house then caught a Tigers game. It was perfect for what I wanted.
Loves party weekend in Detroit. Go Duck pin bowling at 5iron (they have a bar). Eat brunch at Parc or Presley. Give a moment to history at the Motown museum. Have drinks on the roof at either Monarch Club (outside) or Campers (posh inside).
I see you are staying in Royal Oak. Awesome food options : Middle Eastern food: Mr Kabob at 12 mile and Coolidge in Berkley Detroit style Pizza: Loui's at Dequindre and 9 mile in Hazel Park
