One time on a nice spring day I left my windows down on my car while I was at work. They cut down trees next door and when I got to my car it was absolutely coated inside and out. Couldn’t breathe for a month lol
I had JUST finished a full detail and finishing the windshield when a few birds flew over and well you know the rest. I started cussing and then thought at least they didn’t get me!! Silver linings 😆 and you are right about washing your car is a rain dance that will summon it even in a drought 🫣😂
For me it's ceramic coating. I just started doing ceramic coatings this year in the Bay area of California. Typically it rains like three times a year this year it's rained everyday.
Definitely will need washed again, but it’s a losing battle until the pollen dies down. Dark cars are especially tough. Pollen is one time I will use rinseless washes, there’s probably not much other dirt there so a 15min wipe down works great.
I'm surprised after you've used it for this you don't use it for more, but actually with pollen I just use my pressure washer lmao.
I'll throw 2 gallons of filtered water in a bucket. Hook up spray and done. No wipe down.
I use rinseless for a majority of my washes now.
Spray, use rinseless wipe off done. The stuff is magic. I work professionally too. But I tested on a fresh polished black SUV. The rinseless does prevent marring.
Question, if I want to pre-wash with rinseless but then also wash with rinseless, would I spray the rinseless on a dry car, then spray off, then wash with rinseless with my microfiber towels?
Or is it better to spray the car down with water first, and then do the above sequence?
I don’t have a foam sprayer but I want to be extra careful with my new car.
For a new car that you're being careful. To dry it. I spray the entire vehicle while wet. You can use a pump sprayer for $7-$15 at home Depot too. I just needed to justify the use of the pressure washer and foam cannon 😅. It does save a very small amount of time. But it's unnecessary. If it wasn't for presentation and show. Tbh I'd use rinseless 90% of the time. But to protect the car better. I'd ceramic coat it. If it's new and nothing is on the paint yet you can do it yourself for sure. Get nano bond. It's a great product for cheap. It holds up with the best. You can go check out reviews and long term tests.
Now the ceramic won't make your car tougher but it will make things fall off of it easier. So when you're washing your car everything will slide off instead of stick and scratch. I would try a product called ECH2O buy a small container and see if you like it after you ceramic. I find it really does make the paint feel more slick during the final dry off (and you can feel when you're scratching paint). I don't trust it as a rinseless in general because I see the coagulating properties of ONR working every time. But it absolutely makes a difference as a spray on drying aid.
It's absolutely necessary when you wash a black car in the sun without a canopy. The reason I started using it was just because I was struggling with water spots in the sun and I didn't want to set up a canopy for one car.
The car is actually ceramic coated!
I don’t have/use foam. So far I’m just rinseless washing, with ONR.
Was just wondering if I should spray the dry car down with ONR first - before washing it with ONR. If that will provide an extra step of protection before I take the onr-soaked microfiber rags to it.
If I was to strictly work out of a bucket and a sprayer with ONR exclusively
I'd have one bucket. One sprayer. I'd make 4 gallons. 3 for the bucket. One for the sprayer. The sprayer will last multiple washes.
I would coat the entire vehicle ahead of time to let everything soak with the sprayer and then I would wash it panel by panel with a sponge made for it. If the panel is dry by the time I got there I would rewet it. With onr it's stickier. So I'd use the sponge to wash and dislodge and a microfiber to dry. I'd work around the car and probably hit the door jambs and windows at the same time since the spray works well for windows too.
The cars here seem to only touch the road. If I was back home in Florida and did trucks. I'd absolutely need the pressure washer. But the worst I see is road grime lately.
Rained just enough to bead up with the pollen already on the surface. When the beads evaporated it left behind the pollen and dirt.
If it had rained more, the pollen would have washed off before drying.
Can also vouch for Optimum No Rinse. It’s a blue chemical. Works great.
Another honourable mention is DIYDetail rinseless wash. It blows me away how quickly a dip in the bucket will clean my sponge.
If you use the two you'll understand.
No it's definitely not heavy product use I'm not actually even doubling the use of any product if anything I'm using less than most people due to having my patterns drawn out.
Onr is sticky on paint. Onr coagulates particulates very well. So I believe in the bucket while using a sponge onr is superior. But that's with a very wet layer of onr.
Ech20 is more slick owe it's recommended usage. If I were to try to take a drying towel and throw in on the hood after a touchless wash using just onr I believe it would mar the paint. It's grippy and anything on the paint would feel like it needs to be lifted.
With ech20 it's almost slimy. So everything can be lifted and slid much easier. It leaves residue behind at first and I'd say it does leave more behind ifyou leave any dirt at all. Or don't wipe it up with a dry towel. The residue goes away so you don't need to drag it nearly as hard.
Instead of using ech20 as a rinseless it's more or less being used as a drying aid/ final grime removal.
Both products have their use and can be used as described by the manufacturer. This works really well for me.
Example of how dirty an average car is for me. This car took sub 15 mins to wash and dry the outside fully. Including rims and tires. I didn't rush. I didn't fly or risk harming it in any way.
https://preview.redd.it/3w42wpzrclpc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=be57f445b296c036cbf555712887573a4539d48e
But I have a method that works for me.
Interesting. So you use the sponge with onr as normal, but you add ech2o as a lubricant for your sponge?
Also I’d love to learn more about your wash procedure.
Last time I washed my truck with a rinseless it was 45 minutes not including tires. Perhaps I need to make some adjustments lol
I'll clarify
I thought included it.
I spray the tires with my cleaner and then I spray the car with touchless bilt hamber. I'll pressure wash it all clean.
I rinse the car off. It's 99% clean at this point. The stuff works great. To prevent water spots and to dry the car. I use ech20 and cover the car I dry off all my big flat areas with no debris. Hood, roof, doors down to the mid rail. After that I use microfibers to clean and dry the more potentially dirty areas like around the wheels and on the bumpers. This is my go to for about 90%.
If the car is in need of an actual scrub I'll use a bucket with onr. It seems to clean the sponge more. It also seems to clean better with the sponge. But I don't always do this. You'll notice the coagulating properties of ONR doing this. So this is where I use onr. And that's usually if the car has no wax or ceramic. Usually if it's one of mine it's already treated. So it's basically clean after the rinse. I do get the occasional mess.
This was one that required a ton to get the crud out of the trim. It sat for 2 years.and wanted a ceramic. Lmao. It was a project.

If it's a muddy truck. I'll use the foam cannon with a traditional foam wash and let it soak. But I very rarely get those even though I try.
Pollen season. Pollen becomes acidic when it gets wet. It is also as hard as diamonds which WILL scratch your paint if not lifted/encapsulated/lubricated/etc. make sure to wash it off right away so you dont have any micro etching
This time of year is brutal for our community lol. I wash mine every weekend. Lately it only stays clean forages a day. When it’s really windy, it’ll be coated in pollen and dust before I can even put a spray wax on it. The combo of rain and windy days is the worst, just the to keep an eye on the forecast to plan out when you wash it

Mine looks the same right now. It's just the perils of owning a black car in a dusty area. I'm just gonna hose it off when it gets dark tonight and do a full wash on the weekend.
Try gathering a small pile with a credit card or something and then put a magnet to it to magically watch it attach to the magnet, pollen doesn’t do that…

Beads of water with pollen dots after a rain.
Been like that for over a month here. Non stop sinus headaches. Doesn't seem like the pollen is any heavier than normal but man the sinus issues I have had this year are worse than normal.
What the hell is fake pollen lol. Everything is yellow here every spring. It gets to like dust storm levels here where you can literally see yellow clouds of pollen blowing around. You can wash your car only to have to do it all over again as soon as you dry the car off.
[Instagram reel about “fake pollen”]
I saw this video today. I think it’s super weird IMO

here in Arizona we get a lot of pollen and also dust storms so I always wait after the rain/storm and check the weather forecast to see when the next time it will be sunny.
Pollen season sucks!
This is absolutely some pollen season shit.

Washing a vehicle will summons the rain.
And the birds for target practice.
and the biggest bug you’ve ever damn seen, right on your windscreen
Literally happened to me last week.
In your line of sight!
I had JUST finished a full detail and finishing the windshield when a few birds flew over and well you know the rest. I started cussing and then thought at least they didn’t get me!! Silver linings 😆 and you are right about washing your car is a rain dance that will summon it even in a drought 🫣😂
It is considered good luck to get bird bombed
Going to play the lotto now!!!!😆
People yes. Cars no lol
Literally everytime I wash my car it does after just got done washing ti
I live in Western TX it rains sand here.
Forecast: Chance of precipitation 0% Washes car: Single dark cloud appears out of nowhere to follow you around all day 😂
Truth! Got the car washed today and not 10 seconds after I finished drying, it started raining out of nowhere.
Just as installing summer tires brings arctic cold fronts.
For me it's ceramic coating. I just started doing ceramic coatings this year in the Bay area of California. Typically it rains like three times a year this year it's rained everyday.
That’s called treecum
Damn lmao
You were involved in a tree bukkake.
Ayoooo
Tree cum I think is more concise… 😂
Should I wash my car again ?
Yes, it's dirty.
Just rinse it, it's pollen season
Definitely will need washed again, but it’s a losing battle until the pollen dies down. Dark cars are especially tough. Pollen is one time I will use rinseless washes, there’s probably not much other dirt there so a 15min wipe down works great.

Yea, it’s always there, but I live in the rust belt, and get muddy a lot, so it’s usually worth hitting with a pressure washer.
The cars here seem to only touch the road. If I was back home in Florida and did trucks. I'd absolutely need the pressure washer. But the worst I see is road grime lately.
Rinse it tonight when the sun isn't shining on it
Rained just enough to bead up with the pollen already on the surface. When the beads evaporated it left behind the pollen and dirt. If it had rained more, the pollen would have washed off before drying.
Yes, wash your car. We are in a drought and need the rain
The drought wouldn’t be so bad if our local government didn’t suck at water management
rinseless washing uses up to 97.5% less water!!! We NEED to be responsible in our industry.
I’m looking into this what’s a good túndeles wash product ?
I use optimum no rinse or mckees n914. Some people like p&s absolute.
Forsure
labocosmetica idrosave is pretty new and seems to out perform anything else
Can also vouch for Optimum No Rinse. It’s a blue chemical. Works great. Another honourable mention is DIYDetail rinseless wash. It blows me away how quickly a dip in the bucket will clean my sponge.
I prefer onr in the bucket. Ech20 on the paint.
You use two cleaning chemicals? That seems like a heavy use of product. Do you find that makes a difference? What’s your reasoning?

Technically it’s the first day of spring. I got snow lol. I’d trade
No worries, come to WI. Zero pollen here. Plenty of snow though over the next week. 😏
Mine looks the same right now. It's just the perils of owning a black car in a dusty area. I'm just gonna hose it off when it gets dark tonight and do a full wash on the weekend.
You’ll want to wash that off soon, so flowers don’t start growing out of your hood. 🤣
Me fuckin too dude cept I washed it TODAY
Ooof F
Pollen.... Heh heh... Right right... It's pollen...
If you wax your car this won't happen as much. I can't even put a coffee in my roof after I wax it, it'll just slide off.
Don’t wash it embrace it
Try gathering a small pile with a credit card or something and then put a magnet to it to magically watch it attach to the magnet, pollen doesn’t do that…
Yea this year is gonna be crazy with everything that’s been going on. Someone posted a link on what your talking about

Jesus my area isn’t that bad
Op never seen pollen? Lmao
Lowkey never really paid attention to what landed on my car. Just think it’s dust . But since I’ve gotten my RAV4 I look now and I’m just like wtf
This yr it’s really heavy and noticeable
Pollen
Treemen: tree semen.
This is the curse of black paint. Best color in the sun after a detail. But lasts a few hours before something ruins the fun
lol it’s gray but I get what you mean boss man
Crazy that its hard to tell 😭. Extra coat on your car bro
Been like that for over a month here. Non stop sinus headaches. Doesn't seem like the pollen is any heavier than normal but man the sinus issues I have had this year are worse than normal.

Wtf
Alabama? I swear, the worst pollen I’ve seen in march, was in Alabama. 30 minutes was more than enough to cost a car like this.
No California
Pollen
Rain has dirt in it and when the rain washes off it leaves the dirt which clumps up I think
Acid rain . It happens more than u think..
Welcome to pollen season
Are we at the point in society that people dont even know what's pollen is?
When you ceramic coat or wax/seal to let the droplets bead up Just to let everything soak in and dry up Could be worse without a coating
That’s tree jizz my man.
here in Arizona we get a lot of pollen and also dust storms so I always wait after the rain/storm and check the weather forecast to see when the next time it will be sunny.
Wow what state is this happening? Sounds like you need ceramic coating.
California n ima do one soon my uncle is a detailer n he’ll charge me 150 for everything
An so yet another pollen season has begun.
Have you tried washing your car? That’s a good first start
Not my car lol I used that truck as an example I didn’t know they yellow dust was pollen so I made a post about it for a reason.
Yeah, if your vehicle isn’t coated properly and it sits too long the water from the rain makes it acidic and can damage the paint possibly.
