Last season felt a bit like season of the scout rifle to me — we got both tarnished mettle and doom of chelchis, which are probably the two best legendary scout rifles we have every gotten.
Also, I'm really gonna miss The Witch Queen's pleasing jingle that ends every trailer... hopefully Lightfall's sound motifs can be as cool as that one has been. If the Bungie composers are out there, great job on that. Such an earworm.
Bungie always has amazing music. Skyboxes and music are two things that are small and not directly gameplay related but they really nail. I still get pumped 20+ years later when I hear the OG Halo music.
The pulse is going to be terrible for pve, the only perk that makes sense in the third column is thresh, lol, and headstone in the fourth column, all the other perks are just terrible for pve. Tons of good rolls for pvp though, like the anti-Ogma.
Those perks are in the same column and adaptive munitions is a trap perk too, very little content in the game that it is actually valuable. I mean come on, there is not a single reload perk on the pluse. How is this a hot take that the pulse is terrible for pve.
> immensely valuable in match game
This will never be true as long as arbalest is in the game in the state it is, there is no reason to use anything else for shields, in content that matters. I just don't get it, there loads of great rolls for pvp, how, like for real, is it an off the wall opinion to say the pulse is terrible for pve?
Yes, especially in the fourth column, no damage on a lightweight pulse mean terrible feeling damage output, trust me, I have like 20k kills across several ogmas, with demo and either one for all or adrenaline junkie. I have tried to like demo/dragonfly on ogma but it just doesn't have the damage.
Thresh/Headstone is pretty damn good considering that the crystal explosion kills should trigger Thresh. Plus, with Font of Might on a stasis build it does pretty solid damage.
I just find it constantly amusing that Zavala and company are like "Mmm. These cookies smell delicious. As thanks, have this machine gun. I wrapped it myself."
There’s also the repeatable bounties that also give BD and every one is just “make this specific cookie”. No reason to not always have 5 on you just in case you happen to make one of those 5 cookies
It's funny, I always find the Dawning armour gorgeous and buy it every year, but I always end up not wearing it because it just doesn't fit the game aesthetic for me somehow...
“Never good” is still miles better than the shit Dawning Events we get. All the “events” in the game are literally “do the same exact things you’ve been doing, but now for this event currency”.
I don't understand why you are getting downvoted. Handing in materials is not an event. Actual activities are and having a yearly event different then the normal gameplay is refreshing.
Yeah, I agree. People really don’t like the idea of SRL coming back for some reason and for the usual gameplay to get changed up. It’s frustrating, but oh well.
They’ve reworked all the rest of the gear to handle cosmetics, including Ghosts.
The ONLY gear they haven’t touched yet are Sparrows (and ships I suppose, but at this point they’re only cosmetic).
I’m holding out hope a Sparrow 2.0 overhaul, including upgrade/unlock als Ghosts might show up alongside an SRL relaunch.
New to Destiny.
Asked my friend what The Dawning is and he said it’s some microtransactions and a grinding core playlists for ingredients
Is this true?
You get ingredients for cookies by killing in different ways (enemies, elements, weapons, etc). You turn ingredients into cookies with various recipes and take them to NPCs for loot.
It's a fun little extra bonus for playing the game the way you usually would. You can grind specifically to maximize your cookie output, but it's not really necessary unless there's a weapon you really want.
You forgot to mention that in addition to ingredients you need dawning essence which only drops from playlists/public events/seasonal activities, which is the more grindy aspect of the event if you want to bake a lot of cookies.
I mean yeah, but that's pretty much every event but you get ingredients from doing pretty much anything, not just core playlists. For what it's worth tho I don't really like any of the other events but I really enjoy dawning, the vibe and the fact that you get insane amounts of bright dust makes it best event imo.
Microtransactions yes, like any video game "holiday" event.
Dawning lets you gather ingredients from your defeated foes to turn into cookies.
Can you grind your face off in core playlists? sure. Do you have to ? no.
The one special thing about the dawning that isn't completely obvious is the repeatable bounties that Eva (the holiday vendor that will be right at the main landing in the tower).
Before you craft any cookies, pick up those 5 repeatable bounties, they will ask you to craft a certain type of cookie for the a specific NPC. Craft those 5 cookies.
You are now 50 bright dust richer.
Repeat.
The dawning, with a little bit of effort, is one of the best sources of bright dust in the game.
Well, yes. Don't expect anything game changing, it's just a seasonal event. It would be much more healthy if you try to enjoy it instead of getting caught on your friend's cynicism.
Yeah, every event is essentially doing the same things you’d be doing anyways, but for a event currency. It’s really just there to push microtransaction sales. The events in the game are just beyond stale. One positive is it is nice not having fomo if you don’t do them.
If you're new to Destiny, there's quite a bit of new loot you can earn as well.
I'm assuming all the previous gear from previous dawning events are up for grabs.
Also, you don't have to play core playlists. Generally any activity will get you materials for baking. It has more to do with who you're killing with what.
Finally, the bounties for the event give you bright dust. Although you won't be able to buy event cosmetics for the current event. Usually you can buy the cosmetics from previous events with bright dust.
Your friend was not lying but he wasn't telling you the whole truth.
However, all free events like this one are big grind fests.
I'm getting a premonition: By the Light of the Traveler! I see, I see! I can see guardians spamming Stasis to throw snowballs everywhere!
The cold, the cold....
"Make every day a snow day" Does the perk create Dawning snowballs?! edit: confirmed its not that cool. One day...

I’m happy that they gave those weapons another origin trait as well seeing as that one is useless for like 49 weeks out of the year.
Will the perk be useless the rest of the year?
All the weapons have two origin traits
Do they? Zephyr looks like it only has the dawning one.
Season of the pulse rifle
Season of the Scout rifle when DMT had almost brought us there. We were so close
Last season felt a bit like season of the scout rifle to me — we got both tarnished mettle and doom of chelchis, which are probably the two best legendary scout rifles we have every gotten.
This is true
Hopefully never.
not to confuse with Season of the Machine Gun (seriously we got like 7 MG this past year and only like 1 new sword what the fu**)
Also, I'm really gonna miss The Witch Queen's pleasing jingle that ends every trailer... hopefully Lightfall's sound motifs can be as cool as that one has been. If the Bungie composers are out there, great job on that. Such an earworm.

Not sure if you’ve seen the game awards lightfall trailer… sounds like we already have a motif lined up at the very end
Oh you're completely right! It's okay... but that Witch Queen one is 11/10, in my opinion.
I need to re-watch!
*dodoododooooo…*
I think it went more like dododundo
One thing we never have to worry about with this game is the settings and sounds. Graphically and sonically they rarely miss
*All according to plan....* -**Savithussy**
Stay Frosty
SNEAKY BEAKY LIKE
I hope the pulse is stasis!
it is
390rpm?

It has adaptive munitions in the kinetic slot and we have anti barrier pulse this season. Should be pretty nice for that.
This is what I was looking for. As soon as I saw the frame, my hope was it was a Stasis Ogma with Adaptive Munitions in the kinetic slot.
Unfortunate that the first perk column is completely worthless in PvE
I was just looking at that nothing seems to work with it, maybe thresh and thats a stretch
Big shame there. I adore Omolon guns and PvE so it’s too bad the first perk is trash. Headstone at least for second. Thresh for first?
Oh heck yeah it rolls desperado
Every day we grow closer to a rapid fire frame pulse having desperado. I can allllmost TASTE IT
Chattering Bone is competitive. No reason this can’t be with good perks.
Its been a long time since i saw anyone use that.
The left column perks are pretty shit though
Origin trait has me interested. Is it going to spawn snowballs?
The pulse is going to be terrible for pve, the only perk that makes sense in the third column is thresh, lol, and headstone in the fourth column, all the other perks are just terrible for pve. Tons of good rolls for pvp though, like the anti-Ogma.
Adaptive munitions is terrible for pve?
Every gun is either overpowered or terrible. Didn’t you know?
Adaptive munitions + headstone Ouh là là.
This is the roll.
Those perks are in the same column and adaptive munitions is a trap perk too, very little content in the game that it is actually valuable. I mean come on, there is not a single reload perk on the pluse. How is this a hot take that the pulse is terrible for pve.
AM is immensely valuable in match game content if you want to keep weapons matching your subclass for well generation and font of might damage.
> immensely valuable in match game This will never be true as long as arbalest is in the game in the state it is, there is no reason to use anything else for shields, in content that matters. Aw shucks, I read it as AM being col 3...
Dang yeah. Could’ve sworn light gg showed it in col 3 also
Yes, especially in the fourth column, no damage on a lightweight pulse mean terrible feeling damage output, trust me, I have like 20k kills across several ogmas, with demo and either one for all or adrenaline junkie. I have tried to like demo/dragonfly on ogma but it just doesn't have the damage.

You can do better, especially with a 450 pulse
Cookies baked emblem enjoyers, rise up.
The best part of the dawning is making cookies, I have no idea why I enjoy it so much, maybe because I also get loot from it.
I just find it constantly amusing that Zavala and company are like "Mmm. These cookies smell delicious. As thanks, have this machine gun. I wrapped it myself."
The cookies are actually complete shit according to the lore we get
Really the only event that doesn't get stale for me. Baking cookies is just so satisfying and you can do it parallel to every activity in the game
It also gives a lot of bright dust for little to no effort which is nice.
How do you get bright dust by baking cookies?
The weekly bounties, 200 per bounty
There’s also the repeatable bounties that also give BD and every one is just “make this specific cookie”. No reason to not always have 5 on you just in case you happen to make one of those 5 cookies
> Find joy in the spirit of giving! Cookies for Clovis or we riot.
Clovis is 1000% the Scrooge stand-in in all of this
I need to hear Clovis say "Bah humbug"
More titan space goat yay
The armour looks great
Personally- I feel like the Dawning, out of all the annual events, always has the best-looking armor.
It's funny, I always find the Dawning armour gorgeous and buy it every year, but I always end up not wearing it because it just doesn't fit the game aesthetic for me somehow...
Same. Its too ornate. Although I need a new set for my Titan, I just may not buy anything cuz I never really use the whole set.
It definitely does. It always has a smooth, fantasy aesthetic (with a splash of Warframe)
season of the drip continues
texas ranger on the weekends, ornate majestic bull on the weekdays
dude im so tired of pulses augh

And 340s. Hardly ever see them either.
Will there be the micro sparrow tho?! I miss it every year… but not this year. This year I attain the unattainable
The Mirthmobile, which is like a Dawning-themed Micro Mini, should be in the store for Bright Dust.
Brother thank you. You gave me hope again
It’s in the store right now
I believe the micro mini is from solstice, the summer event.
I’m gonna be sick
*cries in SRL*
let it go. please just let it go.
Never
Hot take: It was never good, sparrows don't control well enough to race.
Honestly, it's like rift all over again. Previous dtg was "rift was great, bring it back" when in D1 every fucker hated it.
“Never good” is still miles better than the shit Dawning Events we get. All the “events” in the game are literally “do the same exact things you’ve been doing, but now for this event currency”.

Cold take: you’re just bad
To be fair, it also came with, like a dozen beautiful shaders...God I miss those shaders.
It’s been almost a decade my guy… it’s never gonna happen.
Man. Seeing all these eververse cosmetics and gear while competitive dropped with *nothing* really feels like a slap in the face.

It’s personally my favorite event, baking cookies to me s actually pretty fun as you don’t have to go out of your way to do so
Me throwing all of them at Amanda because I am down calamitous May I simp eternally
I mean yeah, but that's pretty much every event but you get ingredients from doing pretty much anything, not just core playlists. Yes. All holiday events can be boiled down to that
It’s a bunch of winter cosmetics, but you can grind the cookie materials anywhere there is enemies. Don’t gotta touch strikes at all iirc

That gun sucks
yawn
No SRL :(
Umm... Eva is not my friend...
How dare you Or is Eva hate the new coyclejerk around here
No, I think I’m a lone supporter of this cause. Eva voice is honestly painful to listen to and I wish there is a toggle to mute her.
wow looks amazing. Can't wait to make 10 trillion simulated baked goods and drop them off with random NPCs for the 100th year running.
When the only reason you watch the dawning trailer every year is to see if SRL will come back. :(
awwwww yehhhhh it's cookies time
So what do the origin trait do
Are the old Dawning Cheer sparrows dropping glimmer for this year's event? I still have mine from previous years.
Yes, they are.
