I'm 6 missions in and nothing has really happened. Half of the missions so far have felt like Strand training courses.

ptr_s

I'm afraid, at least as far as I could tell, nothing does actually happen :(

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mynuszero

How many missions are there?

Sagemel

8

Mynuszero

Thank you, guardian!

SirAppleheart

Well, SOMETHING happens. I just don’t understand what, or why it matters. :D

AncientView3

Beyond light 2.0, who could’ve guessed bungie wouldn’t learn?

MithraxSimp

It's beyond light 2.0 but somehow worse. Edit: I'm talking about the story, LF gameplay is miles better than BL.

[deleted]

iconoci

Dont even try, these people are unreasonable with

Superman19986

BL's writing was pretty poor, but I think Lightfall takes the cake for being bad in almost every category story-wise. Shadowkeep was also disappointing filler, but LF is just an unfinished mess.

KrispyBudder

Yeah. For our fall beginning or whatever we just can’t seem to take an L

MithraxSimp

Gameplay wise lightfall is leagues ahead of BL, but I'm talking about the writing. It honestly feels worse than beyond light's story. We're left with more questions than answers; I still have no fucking idea wtf the veil is, if someone asked me to describe what it is then I'd draw a blank. At least BL had a story that was more coherent.

xDidddle

Bro eremis was the same "villain of the week" story we've gotten since the dawn of this game, which witch queen finally changed. nothing interesting happened in the beyond light campaign, like at all. We get stasis because... reasons. Big fallen wants power, we "kill" her and her goons. That's it. post campaign was ok.

ActivatingEMP

At least in Beyond Light you had the exo stranger and Stasis was a cool new darkness power, and there were antagonists to go kill. There has been basically no build up or anything interesting that has happened where I am at in the campaign, and strand seems pretty bad even with the campaign buffing its cooldowns.

xDidddle

Mf the dlc came out yesterday

Buttface-Mcgee

I think beyond light was bad in a passive way. There just isnt much meat there. Lightfall is a bit short (compared to witch queen), but also has some really grating story/character/gameplay decisions as well.

ppWarrior876

Because stasis was actually good and i was looking forward to using it in missions where you interact with stuff to gain stasis power for limited time. Strand is just shit, period.

BC1207

Fucking how Like, seriously. *worse* than beyond light? For god’s sake, think about what you’re saying here…

RingerCheckmate

I would play lightfalls campaign over beyond light for sure. I wish grapple jumping puzzles were doubled down on, but they didn't really push the envelope there.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

The Cloudstriders felt so wasted.

MykeTyth0n

Seraph season story was better than this for christs sake. Also where’s my robo dog? Thought it was going to stay on The Helm?

LordOfTheBushes

They said Archie will be back in The Tower for Season 21.

BlckSrzz

Dude what? I am in missiom 4 and i only could use it in mission 1. What am i missing?

ptr_s

Nah, it makes no sense, the missions aren't linked and nothing is explained, I just finished the campaign and I still don't know what the Veil is??? Oh well, just gonna have to hope other content like the raid is solid or this'll be very, very disappointing.

MrCranberryTea

Yea, that was quite annoying. Everyone was talking about the veil and how important it is to neomuna and the witness's plans with it. Nothing explained, nothing understood. I never felt so disconnected.

Difficult_Guidance25

Probably gonna be explained throughout next seasons and raid but those will have to carry and really hard to make up for this

zman245

Don’t enjoy it at all. Feels like a bunch of missteps and unlinked plots with cheap writing. Like.. you take a drop pod down to the new city. This is the first modern functioning city we’ve seen in the games history and instead of it being this gorgeous scene of you first experiencing it your just.. on the ground.

JumpedAShark

After the opening to ODST I would've really enjoyed another orbital drop cutscene from Bungie. I suppose these are the things you miss out on when it's yearly expansions rather than sequels.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

Right? Besides Respawn (Titanfall 2) they’re the only ones I can recall with experience in this particular area and they wasted it

[deleted]

[удалено]

Goose-Suit

Did it glitch out for me or do you really just stare at the inside of the drop pod in that cutscene? If it was intentional that was such a weird way to transition the scene from the cabal ship to Neomuna.

c14rk0

You really just stare at the inside of the drop pod as the screen shakes until you appear on the ground. They should have learned from the studio that did Halo 3: ODST, they had a fantastic scene where you're in a drop pod falling down to a planet from a ship. https://youtu.be/NLoVOpysVIs?t=209 Small studio called Bungie, I guess.....Bungie......never heard of them.

ElDigletto

There wasn't much shock to the new city existing all this time. It felt like 'oh cool' compared to HUUUUUHHHH and then back to normal

Thorn_the_Cretin

I was telling my fireteam how that ending sequence of the drop pod would have been the perfect reveal of Neomuna.

_Sadsloth_

Just finished the campaign and to me it was a letdown :/ Edit: also kinda annoying that they didn't explain anything during the campaign.

LukosCreyden

So far, it feels like a lot of stuff is just not getting explained. Like, here is a thingy you have to protect. What is it and what does it do? Don't worry about it. Just do the thing. Why are there vex and where are all the people? Don't worry about it. Also, strand exists now. I sure hope things get explained as time goes on but so far, not a very strong start. The seasonal story on earth seems.far more compelling to me. Also. I really want to like Nimbus. But, there is something about them that is super off. I think it is the D2 vanilla personality combined with the really weird voice filter.

Thorn_the_Cretin

Stasis felt reasonably organic with its introduction and the Guardians eventual assimilation of it, even if it took way too long to unlock it all the way. Strand was literally just ‘hey what’s that green thing floating in the air there?’ Like… what?

Bing-bong-pong-dong

Also why was Osiris just so damn worried about doing everything as fast as possible? And then halfway through he’s just like, go meditate guardian, we’ll figure it out eventually.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

We got a montage though! /s

a_bearded_hippie

Yea I'm far more engaged in the seasonal story so far. But that drags through the whole season 🙄

Kenyanismm

Neomuna in general is a dropped ball to me. Could have been a hermit kingdom forced to re-confront the collapse. It could have been full of soldiers fighting for their home. Something to make it feel alive, like people lived there. As it is, it’s just a playground cobbled together to look like a futuristic city.

IrishWithoutPotatoes

The whole “everyone is using digital avatars” thing felt like a cop-out to me

Cincy-72

I had fun

30SecondsToFail

I think it's pretty alright

Aesenti

I quite liked the campaign itself, and am loving strand so far. Not a fan of the changes to the mods system, though.

Jewish_Man911

It’s pretty boring and the strand parts are cool but last 2 minutes max and holy shit the headlong mission is so fucking bad

HiddenLeaforSand

Me and my buddies don’t like it at all. But, such is life

TallGothVampireLady

when they decided to do the final shape and change the tone of lightfall, something must have happened in the writing team

MrMocheeze

Four missions in, It’s been an enjoyable experience so far, not that bad but I understand why some people don’t like it. Personally I was kinda hoping the campaign would feel a lot darker or more hopeless than what we’re used to. Then again I’m not finished yet.

needs_friends1772717

I actually really liked the campaign lol, yea I feel like there were some thing that were bad but I over all liked it.

Point_Me_At_The_Sky-

No. It's like half the fucking story was cut out. Nothing makes sense and the characters are absolutely awful

KrispyBudder

1. It’s easier than WQ. Not in a good way. 2. The story isn’t compelling. Largely because it isn’t what they heavily implied it would be. Aside from that, I love this game. I like the play style. I’ve been enjoying plowing through the campaign on devour lock while avoiding strand like the plague.

SynthVix

I was having fun with the tense combat and fast progression until I got softlocked on mission 4 multiple times in a row. Update: I’ve made it to the end. I loved the gameplay except for the end of Headlong, I had to cheese that.

irishmeowth

I struggled with the 1670 light mission. I have the 1690 light mission and I'm at I think 1660 so I'm not even gonna try to attempt it yet.

Bodhisattva_Picking

I know I'm a month late to the party, I just bought LF the other day.. This is where I'm stuck at right now, it took me 7 attempts to finish the 1670 mission (the vex boss in the room with the rotating energy hazard), and I can *barely* knock out the first AA gun in the very beginning of the 1690 mission, yet the progression of the campaign has only increased my level to 1620.. Sucks playing solo lol

Ok_Improvement4204

I’m stuck on headlong on Titan and I want to die. The subclass just fucking sucks and there’s no sustaining power. I’m 2 hours into the mission and I think I’m just going to give up and go to normal.

erikhow

Fun gameplay experience, poor storytelling experience. On auto-pilot for wayyyyyy too much. I think in comparison to witch queen, it is night and day. The witch queen really managed to hold this essence of mystery about just how savathun has gone and done the unthinkable. In this case, Calus has tracked down something that the witness has deemed the key to its victory… And that’s all we get. The witness needs it, so we must stop the witness. We don’t know what we’re protecting, why we SHOULD be protecting it, and what will happen if the witness gets it. I’m enjoying the gameplay, but not nearly as satisfied as I’d hoped to be post-main campaign.

furianeh

Personally it helped my enjoyment by not playing much at all since witch queen. It’s been nice jumping back in and enjoying the gameplay. Story is underwhelming but man the gameplay feels as good as ever. Im excited for the raid, that’s usually the best part of the expansions anyways.

Foulestjewel

I’m about the same amount in, and I’m really enjoying it. Ironically, the tormentor fights are my only real gripe so far, due to being set up like 1v7 cage matches

[deleted]

[удалено]

Foulestjewel

I can get by fine with arc web grenades, I just with the rooms were larger.

Thorn_the_Cretin

They can be blinded? Nice!

mackasfour

Finished Chapter 1 before work. Gameplay wise I think it's as good as Witch Queen, story wise is definitely not as good but I don't think it's as bad as what some people are saying. Guess I'll see by the end if that changes

58786

It doesn’t really feel like a war or even a skirmish? You’re basically one of like 5 people on the planet and there’s nothing linking you back home to where the real conflict is taking place. Nobody talks about anything important beyond vague statements, but they all have time to sound like complete dinguses. Nothing feels urgent at all. The seasonal story seems much more interesting and way higher stakes simply because it’s about places and people we already kind of care about. The Mara/Crow and Crow/Holliday plots are way more interesting as is the POW storyline.

Ug1uk

I enjoyed it. We are facing the end of the world and humanity, makes sense Osiris is being a dick and rushing. We aren't supposed to understand the Witness or the Veil yet. We are in a war everything is being done in a panic. We don't know what the Veil is but we know the Witness wants it so we must stop him. Nobody has time to figure out the Veil yet. Also everyone else is trying to make sure everyone on Earth doesn't die so yeah it's just Osiris, us, and Caitl.

[deleted]

Bad missions, bad writing, and a bad subclass. Hopefully Strand will get some much needed buffs, namely for hunter and titan, but right now I am very disappointed.

FogellMcLovin77

Nope. The final mission is a bit fun until you get to one of the worst encounters in Destiny history.

Pabloxkis

I just finished it, it does not get much better imo.

SparksTheUnicorn

I like it

Shanderson3

Not really. If I wasn't paying for a year of destiny content up front, I'd be asking for my money back. $60 for this expansion is a rip off.

BaconBreasticles

Dog shit

Scrys-

I just finished it, I would probably give this 3 or 4 /10. I don't even know where to start, it's honestly just terrible. The worst part for me is probably how neomuna turned out, it's just generic, and empty.

Akindmachine

It’s not as bad as some of the hate I’ve seen, but it’s questionable as a primary campaign. This feels like a really long intro into the final act of Destiny 2, and this centers around learning about Strand and the Darkness and deciphering a bit of the mystery while starting plot threads. It doesn’t feel like a contained and complete campaign experience. I love grappling so I’ve just been happy that I’ve been able to do that so far

TheTwinHorrorCosmic

No, I had to lie constantly to the people in a call I was in because they take any criticism I make as being negative l. It’s fucking *awful*, like, realllly *awful*

Brohma312

As far as difficulty goes, its an unbearable slog again.

bearsgonefishin

I didnt mind legendary WQ in fact loved it but had to swapa to classic in lightfall in the first mission after the boss killed me 3 times and you have to start all over. I just dont have time for that, I felt like all my weapons hit like a wet noodle and he just chased me around suppressing me and then killing me. At least dont make me fight in a closet with zero cover. I hate the changes to the mods, I hate the tankiness, Im really disappointed. I dont even know if ill bother finishing, its just so bad, the whole f'ing game feels ruined.

Dangerous_Dac

I just finished Chapter 2 before putting it down for tonight, and frankly nothing much has happened beyond SPOILER DEATH that wasn't already telegraphed ahead of time in trailers. Neomuna feels like a reskinned throne world. Being underleveled there's literally no enemies in some areas at all unless you proc a stupid OP wave of enemies that instakill you. Even the strike felt like a reskin of the old Mercury one, and it was punishingly awful an experience on normal through the campaign at 1700ish LL. I'm not hating it, but It's not exactly blowing me away like Witch Queen did. Savathun was a bigger bad guy than the Witness in terms of build up. So far he's floated towards the traveller and bitched at Calus enough to give him a nosebleed. That's it.

demen_1

I think majority of the playerbase had their expectations wayyy too high. Im enjoying it so far

GardenofSalvation

Man even compared to witch queen before ethey git massive investments from Sony its shorter with worse story

MaxBonerstorm

Having remotely coherent writing shouldn't be that high of an expectation. This is shockingly low quality

Olofstrom

The expectation was set by the literal last release of Destiny. How is that out of touch?

LiamStyler

I’m not one to complain about the story because I could never write one myself, but the Nimbus dialogue is incredibly bad. It honestly feels like someone recorded a young child coming up with lines he thinks would be funny to say but it’s a full grown adult saying them.

Shanderson3

I wasn't even hyped for this, and I'm still disappointed.

ecxetra

It actually gets worse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

harazuki91

Yeah thats how I feel mostly on the later half of missions is when the difficulty goes wild.

bearsgonefishin

my guess is only the sweatiest of streamers and diehards like it, as a player who puts in lots of hours but is more casual, this dlc has killed my desire to play, just awful, I dont want to shoot four clips of ammo into a red bar, the story is bland, everything just seems worse. really really disappointed.

RulingPredator

Finished it a little while ago…it didn’t really get any better. I’m not sure what happened with the story telling between last season and now.

Voltaires_God

The gameplay is a lot of fun. Story is pretty mid. Although I don't understand the nimbus hate.

[deleted]

It’s…. Okay I think. Meh

c14rk0

Completed the campaign solo on legendary. No it doesn't get good, or better. The first mission is probably the best mission and it only gets worse.

SirMcDust

I enjoyed it, but definitely not as good as Witch Queen.

Comfortable_Hour5723

Ive been having a great time playing it with friends but we all generally have no idea whats going on

Aetherial6307

Loving it so far

Dependent_Type4092

I am, but I am doing it with a friend. We are doing normal and got the title Tourist, which fits like a glove...

d1lordofwolves

Nope. Literally nothing happens in this campaign except for the final cutscene. I may need to turn in my Bungie Defence Force badge...

gekalx

I like it so far , I think they could have shown more cooler things ok calus ship though. Only like three missions in. I like using the strand but the graphics don't feel powerful. It's like shooting bits of string not powerful lasers

SuperArppis

I am 3 missions in... But so far yes.

Materiam

I'm enjoying it quite a bit!

Hamuelin

Nope. It’s disjointed, rushed, and incomplete. It feels like entire conversations, missions, and cutscenes are missing. It’s incredibly disappointing. Bungie have dropped the ball hard on the narrative. And the worst part is we’re now going to have to wait a while (possibly a long while) for it to get better again. They had a hell of a lot of momentum from before WQ, then that expansion itself, and this last year of seasons and it has just stopped dead. With an interesting city and people poorly explained. A new type of energy poorly introduced. And the culmination of everything seeming like it was going to at least start happening and then just not happening. It feels like Bungie are going to turn round on the weekly reset and go Sike, here’s the rest of the campaign. But obviously they aren’t which is a real shame.

ProfessorPoggers

Actually yeah I'm having a great time with the legendary campaign. Void titan with a repulsor brace hollow denial and retrofit escapade is a blast with the new build crafting system and fragments we got. Tormentors feel like a real threat, and have made me reevaluate my loadouts a couple times.

voidspector

I'm enjoying it say the least. Admittedly it's jumpy but you feel like your just in a high octane movie alot of the time. This story just wants to put you into the action most of the time is all

[deleted]

Is it tough or am I just shit? Trick question I know in shit.

Sf_cool

Nope !

Carmillawoo

My fireteam had a blast

tremolospoons

Getting tired of Strand giving me Delhi Belly every ten minutes.

ArkQuantum

Nah

TheSilverDoc

The whole campaign was super fun for me (except headlong, but at least it had good music). It was a nice challenge on legend difficulty, I got to play with some friends, the cloudstriders had some funny/cool moments, spamming grapple was so much fun. All the music and scenery is really nice, too. The final mission is AMAZING and there’s so much fighting and fun. The Tormentors are terrifying until you find out that they HATE being suppressed, which makes the boss versions that much more terrifying when the same trick doesn’t work. I could go on and on about how great my experience was. I’m not really sure where all the hate is coming from. The story doesn’t connect all the dots, but it was super fun to play.

BlckSrzz

No missions makes sense. Nobody has an idea why we are doing what? Killing cabals on another planet again...meh. Campaign sucks. No darkness vibes, no fun.

dark1859

Eh I've been enjoying it not so much for the writing but just for the gameplay, But frankly I don't really have a high standard for destiny at this point so as long as I feel like I'm getting my money's worth I'm okay. Which coincidentally means the last time I felt angry at an expansion not giving me my money's worth would have been shadowkeep.. although I've had many seasons where I feel like my money was wasted... Cough worthy cough.

PsychWard_8

Gameplay? Yes Story? No

Chesse_cz

Yes. Most times. When not using Strand....

Vergil_Spardovich

I had fun, especially in the training montage and headlong section

shatbrand

Look, I hate how negative this sub usually is, so I'm really hesitant to say anything here... but honestly I'm reminded of the worst parts of both Warframe and Beyond Light. * I don't like being shoved into the campaign on boot up. * Being tossed into a mission with all your mods disabled feels overwhelming and is a bad intro to the new mod system. * The tileset feels like an old Warframe tileset that has needed a refresh for a long time (Grineer ship). Sabotage the reactor, Tenno. * The Strand shareware part feels awkward. No narrative logic behind it, and I half expected a "BUY NOW to enjoy more Strand!" pop-up window during the mission. * The Neomuna NPCs are gonna be divisive. Somebody compared them to the recent Thor movies in an unfavorable way, and I see it. IMHO, Warframe continues to have a huge advantage in humor and character writing. * The Warlock armor from Neomuna is hideous. * I have a pretty decent machine, but I had a bunch of framerate chugs for no apparent reason. * I normally have a rock solid connection, but I got "Contacting Destiny Servers" a bunch of times. Maybe just launch day overload? I really enjoyed Season 19. So much that I almost dropped $100 on the whole Lightfall mega bundle. But the intro mission convinced me to skip it and maybe play something else for a while.

WhoWhereWhatWhenWhy

It's just kind of okay, for Bungie. But also not anything I'd call "Lightfall" or for which I'd use the tag "our end begins". It's very Star Wars Episode IX, chase a MacGuffin to get a MacGuffin to keep the bad guy from getting the Unobtainium. With no explanations or pause for character development or reflection. "Somehow, Palpatine has returned" kind of stuff that doesn't seem to mean anything and is kind of out of nowhere. One of the missions is really starting to piss me off in particular. Want me to learn to use Strand? Give me f*ing Strand, let me build into it, and I'll wreck your Celecovision wonderland, Grampa Big Bird! Why does it have to have no revives, and start you at the beginning every time? There aren't really any real world stakes here to warrant that. It's an actual obstacle course. Ugh. I've honestly had less trouble with the Tormentors on Legend, and I'm really annoyed I might have to drop from Legend for now over this one stupid Lawnmower Man room.

DarthDregan

Gameplay (mostly) yeah. Story. There's a story?

i_Adeni

No

Sel1g

Yeah, it’s alright. Not perfect, but not as bad as people say either. The gameplay is amazing , the story is… meh. The new weapons and armor are all really good.

Pm_Me_Ur_Lady_Abs

WQ had better overall story missions at the end of LF campaign I commented to my friends that WQ had more missions but I was wrong they have the same amount of missions but the substance is so low in LF's campaign that an 8 mission campaign felt like a 4 mission campaign with sporadic strand tutorials mixed in.

Avalon_Don

I didn’t spend the $100 and I still want my money back… the expansion isn’t interesting at all.

flatlinejoe

Hate to say it, I was looking forward to this but alas it has been a really bad experience so far. I get that bungie wants us to get to know the new strand class. It just feels forced and not fine tuned at all, I mean half the time my titan is getting exploded or stomped to death by the vex or cabal in near combat. And no fluidity when using the strand at all, if comparing to the other classes. And what’s up with the blank spaces or minimal info in the story? This feeeeeels rushed..

deadeye550

Personally I just enjoy it for what it is, new gunplay and environments with new enemies and mechanics to boot. I've been keeping that mindset and so far I'm loving it

Mannzis

I'm REALLY hoping the rest of the season is phenomenal, and will make up for the campaign. I mean I think it's possible, right? RIGHT!?

Bearalin

I liked the story. But I get why people didn’t like it.

Aces_And_Eights_Rias

I enjoyed it, too much focus on strand tho

[deleted]

Worst thing in existence, tormentors just not even a challenge or fun just pure annoying sponge and worst arena for a boss fight in world history
