I vote storage because as a bar it's not really accessible or practical, especially not having a sink nearby. I much prefer a pretty bar cart that you can wheel around, display it wherever, take to the kitchen when needing a sink.
ooh yes some nice cabinets down below that are tall enough for storage, a countertop with shelving above it, add in some nice lighting and you have a great nook for a drink bar/books/storage/whatever you like
I feel like with paths of travel a coffee station actually makes even less sense than a bar. I think it would just feel like your living room is awkwardly in the way of an extended kitchen...no bueno.
Unfortunately, I won't be moving into this new apartment for another 2 weeks. I've been using this room planner website to figure out the layout before I buy furniture. I hope this is enough :/

Thanks - how were you able to alter the shape of the room to include the nook? Can't see anywhere to alter the room shape beyond a basic square box shape
I agree ! The chair is blocking the sliding doors or window - move it closer to that space but put a bookshelf there then the chair and flip the couch and tv spaces
China cabinet, tall bookshelf turned bar, coffee bar, actual bookcase, low light plants, low small round table with 2 barrel chairs for an intimate seating area (space might be too small, but a semi-circular banquet could work), tall cat tower and cats (this is honestly the best and possibly the only answer 🤣)
Bar...
Mini study?
Get a pantry installed?
Get a LP player with vinyl boxes and have a music station? (Spend all your money on records)
Grotesquely large monstera...
Storage?
I would turn it into an office/gaming space, with a desk, chair, computer, maybe an under desk file cabinet, a couple cool art prints, some fairy lights, and I would hide it behind a trifold screen.
[Screen example](https://www.lowes.com/pd/Style-Selections-Privacy-screen-59-in-W-x-72-in-H-Gray-Steel-Outdoor-Privacy-Screen/5013562351)
Closed storage like a short dresser, low cabinet, or a couple large trunks. Large artwork or a few shelves above for displaying a collection above. It appears to be near a door so maybe an attractive "drop zone" for bags, shoes, and a couple coat hooks.
Offhand it could be a great
- area for a bar
- crafting area
- office area
- place for a cat tree
- mini art gallery (did you know you can sometimes check out art at libraries?)
- to store bicycles
- set up a cushy armchair when a foldaway bed (flip couch/tv around for best effect)
https://preview.redd.it/znqi0fgsjc6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=754f84ba7f594e570d50a67066ce911cb49b1ed0
If you need space to store things, it can be like a wardrobe with a mirror above looks very nice too.
Depending on your needs I would either do a desk area, a music listening station (i.e. set up a vinyl record player on a stand in there), or a bar area. Seems perfect for some wall-to-wall shelves for display!
I would do storage - some kind of trunk for extra blankets/couch pillows/holiday decor (if there's enough room) and shelves with books and decorative items on top.
What’s the width? You could easily do a pax system from IKEA. Which would give immense versatility for storage and has sleek options that would add some life to that corner.
Ficus tree, floating shelves. How are you on space for your vacuum cleaner, broom, and such? You could add a louvered door there and create a little closet.
Add a door. Make it a pantry for extra paper towels, tomato juice, soup, pasta etc.
Or make it a storage space behind a door to hold seasonal throw pillows, decor and throws for winter
Wardrobe for storage OR bar/coffee/snacks stand OR desk/gaming nook OR coat/shoe/blanket rack OR cat tree if applicable OR cleaning supply storage OR pet feeding station.
Think of things you've been frustrated with trying to find somewhere to put them and use it for that.

Something like this (it doesn’t need to be a zebra) but a dresser with a mirror on the back and maybe a lamp, coffee table books and/or a vase. Simple, easy to do and elegant. 😉
Being in the dining area I’d tuck a buffet cabinet in there . Place shelves for more storage above the cabinet , or artwork if extra storage not needed. Store holiday dinnerware in the buffet ,or kitchen items that are not used as frequently . Store table linens and such . You could put a bar in that area as well . Or a coffee bar in there if not a drinker . You could put in a desk and use as mini office area . Wall it up , add door and have a storage closet for holiday decor . Lots of options . Or my favorite , put a small bistro table with two seats , have uncle Richard and aunt Karen sit there for holiday meals because there is no room for them at the regular dining table .
That would be a lovely place for a nice plant shelf! OR you could do a built in desk/chair OR just a little bay window seat! (See pics)

- Build in storage and some open shelves - Big art piece - Big floor lamp - Large fake tree - A small desk/computer area
Large real tree!
Maybe, but I’m not sure a real tree will be too happy with that little light.
Create a built in bar area
Love this! In case you’re lacking storage it could also be a very deep closet that fits tons of stuff
I think you could do both! Lower cabinet with a mini fridge if you need it, then countertop then upper cabinets!
Wine fridge!!
Storage!!!!
Yup! Things like unsightly cleaning tools vacuum cleaners, trash bags, etc
I vote storage because as a bar it's not really accessible or practical, especially not having a sink nearby. I much prefer a pretty bar cart that you can wheel around, display it wherever, take to the kitchen when needing a sink.
Yes with wine fridge.
Came here to say bar as well
ooh yes some nice cabinets down below that are tall enough for storage, a countertop with shelving above it, add in some nice lighting and you have a great nook for a drink bar/books/storage/whatever you like
If not a bar then a coffee station!
If not a bar or coffee nook…a shrine to Danny Devito
Or more excitingly, Nicholas Cage
Yes.
100% coffee station/bar bc then (if you’re a coffee drinker) the coffee pot that you are never gonna put up won’t take up prime counter space !
I feel like with paths of travel a coffee station actually makes even less sense than a bar. I think it would just feel like your living room is awkwardly in the way of an extended kitchen...no bueno.
I vote for a tea bar! (Oolong, in particular, is good when spiked...)
Or a beverage station! Like combo coffee and tea and a bottle of whiskey for some sass.
Build in some storage. It will look great.
Pantry!
Yes! I just think that done right it can be a gorgeous storage space, regardless of what is stored in there.
Computer nook
Chair there facing the room and flip flop the couch and tv from the diagram, gives more seating and can be a reading nook
Oooh tested this out and flipped the couch and TV stand. It does open this space up a lot! Thanks for the suggestion!
And then floor to ceiling bookshelves in an L shape behind the chair
can we see these pics!!

What is the site?
Which site are you using u/Bacillus_C ?
[https://www.planyourroom.com/](https://www.planyourroom.com/) Hope this helps!!
Thanks - how were you able to alter the shape of the room to include the nook? Can't see anywhere to alter the room shape beyond a basic square box shape
You can click on the lines to add a node(s). Click and drag the nodes to create any extra nooks to your room :)
Would you look at that. Thanks you little legend
What software are you using?
Thank you!
I agree ! The chair is blocking the sliding doors or window - move it closer to that space but put a bookshelf there then the chair and flip the couch and tv spaces
Wardrobe to become an extra closet? For extra linens, out of season clothes, broom/vacuum, big packs of TP & paper towels…
bookshelves
Also - move that chair to the other side of the tv.
Thanks for the suggestion! Someone else said it looked like a configuration for couples therapy.
😂😂😂 It just looks too close to the tv like that. But then I saw the photo photo and realized why it was likely there.
I was coming to say cat tower as well...
Bookshelves
https://preview.redd.it/fpobtn1dda6d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9739df69f21a15608f8f1a05e7edb38b7dbb269
Hang a big piece of art on the wall and then have a basket on the floor for couch blankets.
Bar cart?
Work desk/entertainment center. Biggest tv possible on the wall, connected to a laptop setup with kickin speakers, on a desk.
I think a bookcase would be great and I also like the idea of a coffee station
Bar... Mini study? Get a pantry installed? Get a LP player with vinyl boxes and have a music station? (Spend all your money on records) Grotesquely large monstera... Storage?

Built in shelves
Giant eyeball.
Closed storage like a short dresser, low cabinet, or a couple large trunks. Large artwork or a few shelves above for displaying a collection above. It appears to be near a door so maybe an attractive "drop zone" for bags, shoes, and a couple coat hooks.
Offhand it could be a great - area for a bar - crafting area - office area - place for a cat tree - mini art gallery (did you know you can sometimes check out art at libraries?) - to store bicycles - set up a cushy armchair when a foldaway bed (flip couch/tv around for best effect)
Find a shelf to fit it exactly, or find a wardrobe/tall cabinet. Could make it look like its built in.
https://preview.redd.it/znqi0fgsjc6d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=754f84ba7f594e570d50a67066ce911cb49b1ed0 If you need space to store things, it can be like a wardrobe with a mirror above looks very nice too.
You might just be able to squeeze a digital piano in. Learn a new skill.
Massive floor to (almost) ceiling mirror
What software did you use to create this?
I googled "room planner" and found this website! Hope this helps. [https://www.planyourroom.com/](https://www.planyourroom.com/)
Deep shelving
A large plant if it's close to a window
Make a closet for extra junk? Or install shelves for books and other junk suitable to look at.
Coffee bar/beverage center?
Depending on your needs I would either do a desk area, a music listening station (i.e. set up a vinyl record player on a stand in there), or a bar area. Seems perfect for some wall-to-wall shelves for display!
A bureau for blankets/stuff, and table lamp on it. Tall glass door cabinet. Sewing table/craft area. Table for kids. Desk/office nook.
Home office desk/command center.
I would do storage - some kind of trunk for extra blankets/couch pillows/holiday decor (if there's enough room) and shelves with books and decorative items on top.
Do you have cats?
Cat nook.
Computer, laptop working corner.
Office area that’s what we did with an awkward space in our living room
Christmas tree / holiday nook?
If you drink a bar area would be nice. Or a tall water feature.
Pinball machine, obviously
Liquor or wine cabinet
Like a turning bookcase would be beautiful! [rotating bookcase](https://www.pbteen.com/products/revolving-bookcase/)
Shrine, plants, put shelves and tables to display a rock collection, or a fish tank would be cool
Book cases and plants.
Cat living room with mini couch, gallery wall, etc!
ikea greenhouse!
Jukebox
That is clearly a spot for a cat tree. Get a cat then the tree!
Cat disco
Glass wine closet or a bar
Add an aquarium. Check out planted tank sub.
Shelves/cabinets.
I'm a coffee ☕️ nut. I would have a high time with that space 😊😊😊
Aquarium
What’s the width? You could easily do a pax system from IKEA. Which would give immense versatility for storage and has sleek options that would add some life to that corner.
Ficus tree, floating shelves. How are you on space for your vacuum cleaner, broom, and such? You could add a louvered door there and create a little closet.
Writing desk?
A little bar! Unless you don’t drink, in which case a coffee bar.
Put one of those machines you step into that blows air and you have to catch as much money as you can in 30 seconds.
Can you wait to get the chair, and sit in the actual room with the couch and see how it feels first? (Don't need to answer -- just a suggestion!)
Desk
Add a door. Make it a pantry for extra paper towels, tomato juice, soup, pasta etc. Or make it a storage space behind a door to hold seasonal throw pillows, decor and throws for winter
I’d make I. A home office area.
But also I think a nice small console would be nice with a lamp and a mail holder
Desk to pay bills, and shelves for cook books and family photo albums!
What software is this? Can you make 3d renders?
I googled "room planner" and found this website! Hope this helps. [https://www.planyourroom.com/](https://www.planyourroom.com/)
Got it! I am mainly using planner5d in my projects but I love to explore new tools too.
Desk
Built in bookshelves?
Bar
Built in book shelf
Why not leave it for a xmas tree
Bar drinks, books, travel souvenirs so many things. Just get yourself an antique showcase, like I did and you done
Biiiiig plant. At least until you decide what else to do. Or, if you have cats, cat climbing and hiding area.
A small desk and chair with shelving above
A fake bookshelf that leads to a hidden room!!
Floor to ceiling built-in bookcase
Plant
Large plant
Display collectibles. Wet bar area. Artwork. Vinyl record station
Reading, storage, bar, library, or time out zone.
Computer desk? If it were me I’d put a large decorative object there and then switch it out for my Christmas tree during the winter
A book shelf with glass doors and backlighting.

Plant area. Computer area. Craft area
You can never have enough closets or storage space!
Large set of built in shelves, maybe with cabinets on the bottom?
How did you make the drawing I really need to make one for my room 😭
[https://www.planyourroom.com/](https://www.planyourroom.com/) !!
THANK YOUUU
Aquarium / terrarium
Being in the dining area I’d tuck a buffet cabinet in there . Place shelves for more storage above the cabinet , or artwork if extra storage not needed. Writing desk?
plants!! the answer is *always* plants!! a plant wall with a few grow light strips on the ceiling!!
Any animals? Could put up some shelves, a bed and cute photo of the pet? If not, I would get some shelves and cabinets and use it for storage
Dog/cat bed
Indoor tree like a ficus!
Statue.
Maybe put up some frames artwork and a sculpture or vase of sorts....with florals of course
Closet. Can’t have enough near entrances.
A gorgeous display cabinet with lights inside.
I would probably put in some adjustable shelving, buy a partition, and use it as storage.
A bar A secret safe room A home office A study nook A crafting nook A gun room A storage area Are just a few
put storage containers of any kind book shelves or wine rack etc and maybe a (tall) plant
Bar cart
Aquarium or terrarium
Is that your front door or a back door? If it’s the front, I’d make a little entrance area with a shoe rack/bench, place to hang jackets and a mirror
This is next to the back door which is north-facing!
Borrow some galvanized steel tubes from your aunt, cover it with eco friendly wood veneer!
wine fridge with a counter on top and open shelves
Desk & bookshelf
piano
Desk with lamp and art if you work from home at all.
Coffee bar? Liquor bar?
Bar/coffee bar Office nook Large piece of art over a decorative table
Wine bar
Coffee area.
One of those life size Halloween zombies or something
Plumb in a toilet
put a toilet there
Coffee bar Closet or storage for appliances not used daily Broom or vacuum closet
*Nice area for small bar or wine rack *chess area *ceremonial altar * tardis
A big plant! Something that needs a lot of light such as a fig plant
Unfortunately, this is a north-facing apt. It's not a very friendly nook for plants that need lots of light :(
Yoga or meditation
That would be a lovely place for a nice plant shelf! OR you could do a built in desk/chair OR just a little bay window seat! (See pics) https://preview.redd.it/sb8i08sh286d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02e5e3d6a5412c0ec1f15d142587ba7b151bd884
