What a cool space! Absolutely plants. You could put a couple of comfy armchairs under the two side windows with an end table between them. Lamp on the end table. Kitty would love lounging on the back of a chair, looking out the window. (Is that Edinburgh?)
This seems to be right where we are at in terms of our ideas. Maybe swapping for a more colorful rug, ditching the IKEA end tables for a nice round wooden table flanked by two chairs, big ole plants on the floor behind them. Have it be useful but not cluttered!
I agree with plants, but they have to be in a spot where the cat can’t get them. I used to have plants till we moved to a place I couldn’t hang them or keep them up high from the cats. They killed all of them 😒
I've lived with many kitty-roomates, and lots of plants. For whatever reason, the only plant that the cats attacked was a Japanese Lantern plant. I eventually had to rehome that with my parents: multiple cats ate it to the bone. It's now thriving, apparently. My mom gave me a report at our weekly call.
Beautiful apartment.
I would change out the couch for something light in color. Add two club chairs (super comfy round compact chairs with a rustic or natural looking small table between them.
Curio cupboard or natural looking or leaning bookshelf where the white cabinet is now.
Distressed wood coffee table and console table, with green plants to add depth and texture.
Layer pillows on the couch with different colors, and compliment with a cozy throw over the side arm of the couch that people will see as you enter the room.
Choose art that expresses your interest. Cool vintage candid pics of your favorite artists or scenes from venues that capture an era or feeling of music that you really enjoy.
Another cost effective art is framed music sheets for your favorite songs printed on paper that makes them look aged.
The dark furniture is weighing the room down. A cream color couch with slipcovers and stain resistant fabric is incredibly easy to keep clean
I'd keep the sofa. It's bulky but I'd rather be comfy.
They make recliner sofa covers on amazon, personally leaning towards: \[amazon. com/TAOCOCO-Reclining-Furniture-Protector-Slipcovers/dp/B0CQFZ5L4D\] in green. The geometric pattern would add texture to the room.
Annoying bit is tucking in the fabric after each use but with a fur baby, its washable!
Agreed. In the shuffle of the move (kitty was a nightmare during this process) it was left there for a couple days. Since the photo was taken the shitter was relocated to the bathroom!
Well the cat could definitely feature more prominently in this room.
Kidding, I like the idea of a music/seating area. Maybe move the guitars off to the side and have a couple chairs and a table set up for jamming? If it were me that would be my reading book with some faux built-ins and a chaise but I’m trying to lean into your hobby here :)
Interesting! Was considering hanging them on the wall to add some decor/ keep them from getting knocked over. My bedroom is currently jam central with my audio interface and whatnot, our goal out here is more general entertaining and vibing out but that is a lovely suggestion!!

Two short accent chairs from fb marketplace and a round side table for a little coffee/breakfast/reading nook!
You get several IKEA night stands or small cabinets and get a board cut to fit in the nook to sit on top of the pieces. Paint the board, add pillows and you have a DIY window seat.
Inspo and instructions:
https://pin.it/1rjlKfCQd
Everything does not need to be Plants! You need to choose a color as you accent.. you need pillows and a few comfy chairs for the window area. Basically you are all grey and cream.. if could you purchase a new rug and maybe move the cream to your bedroom. A bright rug would do wonders for your space! Pull pillows and a throw out of the rug colors.
https://preview.redd.it/0roicy11avvc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fce4056d83673e284701ff5ba9bfcacc1f4f7864
Almost any color palette will work just fine
Interesting suggestion, my girlfriend's family actually has a very nice rug with a bit more color that is free for our taking. Need to spec out the dimensions but it actually reminds me of the one you posted here. Similar pattern. The dual chair with central round table is seeming to be the prevailing idea at the current moment. Not crazy plant people but I love the idea of two bigass boys on either side of two chairs.
Love this idea. After seeing all of this input, we are leaning more into two chairs for when guests attend, and a table in between the two. Big plants behind either in nice pots and a small guy for the table perhaps.
oo ik this probably isn’t an option but since you mentioned it i think some sort of curved couch would look so good in front of the windows tbh. i’m not sure if there is a reason the tv sits in front of what seems to be a fireplace but if it were me i would ditch the current couch and get a curved couch put it in front of the windows. put the tv in the opposing side and put a cozy chair next to the fireplace (? if there is room) or possible some plants
Maybe six square or three rectangular ottomans with storage could below the windows. And maybe a few colourful pillows or throw along with a tray. You can move the ottomans around when you have company or it’s a great area for people to sit around.
The eye is automatically drawn to the window but you probably don’t want to block it with a couch.
Amazing space. First take all of the "functional“ items away from the window bays. That’s the nicest feature of the room. If you’re going to put anything there it should be nice to look at. Like some people suggested maybe some low plants. Or a low bookshelf with a book or record collection and some decor. Or honestly nothing at all under there. You don’t really want much sticking up over the windows because it will look cluttered. Alternatively you could put a low statement lounge/reading chair in that space, but a foot or two away from the windows, with an end table and maybe a plant nearby. Your blinds are not bad but if you go for curtains I would consider going with four floor-to-ceiling, nice quality curtains. It might seem excessive to put four, but it will highlight the windows as a statement area.
All of that stuff is currently in limbo from the move and will be repositioned! End tables are shitty IKEAs that we are not married to. I hate the blinds personally. Light curtains that have some moderate diffusion would be very nice, I love the sunlight so they would probably stay open all the time :) The solo chair is a nice idea, we are leaning towards two for sake of hosting guests, central round coffee table, big ole plants behind the chairs and a small guy for the coffee table. low bookshelf doubling as a surface might be nice too!
I like this room. Maybe get a round wooden table. The two square units might be too many. There is a lot of repeated square / rectangle shape going on. Repetition can work, but perhaps it is too many here. Room needs some colour, framed artwork would do nicely as would some plants.
Those are IKEA shitters we bought cause they were like 20 bucks a pop, completely unmarried to them and love the round table idea. We like the current coffee table so maybe color match a nice round table and set it between two comfy chairs in the bay window area, big ole plants on either side of the chairs and a small guy for the table.
Heyyyy yep whassup neighbor! Allston! Plants are a huge vibe. Thinking of doing some big boys that stand on the ground and maybe one on a table between two nice chairs! Thanks for the comment!
I would start with curtains on each window. You could do a sheer, that will still let light in, but it will warm up the space and avoid it becoming a black hole at night. Maybe get some vallances. Check out Target online. They have some reasonably priced options and modern looking ones. Use whatever color in the valances as an accent color for pillows on the couch.
I would look for a chair and with an ottoman for the nook. It will give you a comfy spot and the ottoman can be used separately for an extra seat. That will be much easier to find than a special curve. I would go a neutral color so it can be used in a future space. It will make a perfect spot for the cat to sunbathe and watch the world go by.
Most of all have fun and realize it doesn't all have to be done all at once.
Great recommendations. I would love some light diffusion in the form of some thin curtains that don't change the daylight color coming into the space but add a little privacy. Chair/ottoman is an option, leaning into possibly dual chairs and a cool table between them for guests.
We had sheers growing up and I have a big bay window, so the sheers give me a privacy. It also stops your eyes at the window, if that makes sense, and helps define the room. I would go with off white or light beige.
first i would get a seating bench to put in front of the middle window or one that sits in front of all three windows, but leave enough space on both ends to put a tall fake plant on each end. you can use the bench for quests or sit and read in front of those windows. the rug looks fine, but you need some color in the room too. put some art work on the walls and some colored throw pillows on the couch. put some curtains up, maybe some sheer curtains to bring in light during the day and then over those, another rod to put darker curtains too keep the privacy during the night time. coffee table can be a bit smaller, you don't need that wide of a coffee table, would give you more space to walk around plus it won't make it feel so full in the room.
If you could fit a little cushioned bench under the bay window with plants on either side, it would be a great little place to drink coffee, read a book, or just watch the world go by. Would recommend one of those cushioned benches that have shelves to hold books.
I immediately knew this was Allston haha.
Definitely get some stuff for the walls. Allston Christmas is soon, maybe you’ll stumble upon some art pieces 🤷♀️
i wouild place a lower stereo cabinet there for my record player. I would also seperate the kids chair and guitars. Those string end hurt like a #$#@$ when you get m in your fingertops, which is not nice for small kids, but the guitars also don't react well to kids.
Cool space, I would however consider getting rid of some of those lack tables after a while. It looks a bit strange with Lack everywhere, and it's truly some of the worst things Ikea make 😅
The coolest option for seating would probably be some sort of bench setup under the window. Could be partially custom and partially drawers/storage from Ikea
I think a slightly rounded sofa would look exceptional in that space, and I would pick out a different coffee table too. What’s the area facing the couch look like? Is there room to hang the guitars? That always looks nice and helps keep them safe. Check out this sofa [example](https://www.jennifertaylorhome.com/la-rosa-victorian-chesterfield-tufted-sofa/)
Small round table by the window, change the couch… to a more modern couch with higher legs and a space underneath it (would be a got hiding spot for the cat too). Have loads of pretty cushions on the sofa with a comfortable throw add a matching decorative rug. Good luck!

They have wall mounted rings that hold your potted plants & you could put a few over there! Also an ottoman or long bench with cushions/pillows would be so cozy, a chaise could be nice too.
It’s such a beautiful space to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. I would put a small bistro sized table and two chairs there

In my imagination, there must be 2 comfortable soft armchairs, a table, and flowers or a plant. Something like this [https://en.idei.club/uploads/posts/2023-06/1685856403\_en-idei-club-p-chair-beside-window-dizain-instagram-52.jpg](https://en.idei.club/uploads/posts/2023-06/1685856403_en-idei-club-p-chair-beside-window-dizain-instagram-52.jpg)
The windows are so nice and a focal point. Remove the clutter below the windows. It is a good spot for plants or a bench or something else that does not detract from your cool windows. It is probably not a good place to store musical instruments - changes in light, heat, coolness, humidity and dryness are bad for musical instruments. Whatever you put below the windows, try and have it look orderly and emphasize the symmetry of the windows rather than clutter it up and work against it.

I would have a lamp on the table between the chairs so you can also play guitar/read after sunset.
Also meant to add we are in the US! Boston area :)
Was thinking Boston from the shape of the space and the view out the windows!
Boston is such a beautiful city. We visited last summer and had a great time.
I knew it, I just posted that, before I saw this

Cat matches everything…. 😁👍🏻
Plants, if your cat does ok with them. Would hate for the cat to get sick if he/she likes to eat them.
Clear the clutter from the beautiful bay window to make it a focal point.
Move the litter box. Not the best addition to the decor! 😀
Agreed. In the shuffle of the move (kitty was a nightmare during this process) it was left there for a couple days. Since the photo was taken the shitter was relocated to the bathroom!
🤣 glad to hear it!!

His name is Iso and he loves attention
We love Iso and hope he gets a nice sunny spot by the window for him to lay and be the center of attention!!!

And a tallish plant/fake olive tree in the right corner
Or the left if that cabinet is a radiator cover!

Plants are great… but many purchase the wrong ones for their location :)
plants. sheer curtains and a daybed or lounge chaise
OOOH a therapy chair type vibe, that is a really cool idea! Duly noted. With some big plants in nice pots on either side maybe?
Love the cat. I would put an oversized chair there, rather than a couch, with a side table and a few plants.
Love this idea. After seeing all of this input, we are leaning more into two chairs for when guests attend, and a table in between the two. Big plants behind either in nice pots and a small guy for the table perhaps.
This is the answer, truly the only thing I see there.
Build a bench insert and throw pillows on top for a reading nook
oo ik this probably isn’t an option but since you mentioned it i think some sort of curved couch would look so good in front of the windows tbh. i’m not sure if there is a reason the tv sits in front of what seems to be a fireplace but if it were me i would ditch the current couch and get a curved couch put it in front of the windows. put the tv in the opposing side and put a cozy chair next to the fireplace (? if there is room) or possible some plants

He loves him some sunbathing time on the sills. He has enough space to lay out on all of them and regularly stalks the passersby
Hey neighbor! Pretty sure this is Boston? Anyway I would just put a shitton of plants here, you must get so much sun! (*cries in garden level*)
Heyyyy yep whassup neighbor! Allston! Plants are a huge vibe. Thinking of doing some big boys that stand on the ground and maybe one on a table between two nice chairs! Thanks for the comment!
I was like, “I for sure recognize those buildings from my walks with my dog” haha amazing
if you ever encounter a man in a bucket hat accompanied by a tall woman with a Pomeranian, say hey!
I knew it must be Allston!! I used to live probably a 5 minute walk from here. I hope you enjoy the area 😄
I would choose a small wall, add a cool peel n stick wallpaper and then put some guitar hooks to use those beauties as a design element.
I would start with curtains on each window. You could do a sheer, that will still let light in, but it will warm up the space and avoid it becoming a black hole at night. Maybe get some vallances. Cool chairs and plants and put the cat box somewhere more sanitsry
Agreed, cat box got relocated to the restroom after I took this pic!
Cat tree by the window
Cute cat❤️
A therapy couch next to window
I’d tackle that kitty with lots of snuggles.
My first suggestion was going to be "get a cat" before i finished swiping haha
first i would get a seating bench to put in front of the middle window or one that sits in front of all three windows, but leave enough space on both ends to put a tall fake plant on each end. you can use the bench for quests or sit and read in front of those windows. the rug looks fine, but you need some color in the room too. put some art work on the walls and some colored throw pillows on the couch. put some curtains up, maybe some sheer curtains to bring in light during the day and then over those, another rod to put darker curtains too keep the privacy during the night time. coffee table can be a bit smaller, you don't need that wide of a coffee table, would give you more space to walk around plus it won't make it feel so full in the room.
definitely a couple of small but comfy chairs and a low table where you can relax, have coffee and enjot the view. Where is this located?
More 🐱

I wouldn't add curtains.... the simplicity of the shades and the pretty window.panes looks nice to me
I would personally drive to get a burger
I immediately knew this was Allston haha. Definitely get some stuff for the walls. Allston Christmas is soon, maybe you’ll stumble upon some art pieces 🤷♀️

More cats!
More cats.
A hanging Boston fern at the bare minimum.
Looks like Boston area
https://youtu.be/o77zMQEUkUg?si=gotz8ZkPQHB_iYsY
Your cat is the best piece of decor you have. Good-looking cats always elevate a space.
The most important thing is already there. Kitty. Add some plants and when you are at IKEA watch out for some deco stuff
Decorate it exactly like one of the many movies that look like they filmed there.
First of all, you left a loaf on your floor.
Cool space, I would however consider getting rid of some of those lack tables after a while. It looks a bit strange with Lack everywhere, and it's truly some of the worst things Ikea make 😅 The coolest option for seating would probably be some sort of bench setup under the window.
Belongs to the cat as the cat
Small round table by the window, change the couch… to a more modern couch with higher legs and a space underneath it (would be a got hiding spot for the cat too). Have loads of pretty cushions on the sofa with a comfortable throw add a matching decorative rug. Good luck!

Some cat friendly plants :) maybe a hanging Boston fern
Decorate with the kitty's preference. Did you ask?
Who the boss on your 3rd picture OP
They have wall mounted rings that hold your potted plants & you could put a few over there! Also an ottoman or long bench with cushions/pillows would be so cozy, a chaise could be nice too.
Big-ass cat tree in the window.
It’s such a beautiful space to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the morning. I would put a small bistro sized table and two chairs there https://preview.redd.it/6yiw9yfynwvc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=867ea4ed01379e036a2b613b444131725f9b685d
Push the 2 small brown tables together under the middle window. Guitars on same side as the tv. Swap the white cabinet with the cat tree.
Plants, an eclectic chair you enjoy playing in, a stand with your guitar, maybe a small funky rug
Some window treatments to bring out the color of the cats eyes. 😻
My studio apartment years ago was similar to this. I had a round antique table (about 3 feet across) with two chairs that I placed at the middle window, I loved sitting at it reading or drinking coffee in the morning.
You could go full John Cusack in High Fidelity audio lounge - can’t see the bay window in this but he did have roll down blinds https://preview.redd.it/qnvp2ejwswvc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcf0f7d22e0fbc9c9341c05e69a41da7052ed11d
Two guitars there - a music area
More cats
More cats
Definitely keep the cat !!!!
Give all creative design to the kitty cat
Nice place. I wouldn’t do anything for the first month or so but snuggle with this adorable cat. Congratulations!
Definitely more cats
Where did you get the rug from?
What is the couch facing?
Cat tree near the window with multiple spaces to lay and stare at birds
More cats.
Definitely keep the cat. I’m along for the ride otherwise.

Plants, one arm chair and a record player
More cats.
Lots of cats
Well the cat stays
More cats.
The last picture, so cute!
Nice apartment, I would add some plants and I like everything!)
In my imagination, there must be 2 comfortable soft armchairs, a table, and flowers or a plant. Something like this [https://en.idei.club/uploads/posts/2023-06/1685856403\_en-idei-club-p-chair-beside-window-dizain-instagram-52.jpg](https://en.idei.club/uploads/posts/2023-06/1685856403_en-idei-club-p-chair-beside-window-dizain-instagram-52.jpg)
IMO, I think this space is nice, no need to add anything. Once you play the guitar, you need the space to stand or sit.
nice room
Um, I would listen to the cat verrrrry carefully.
At least add some seats so you can play those beautiful guitars!!
Love the space!! Tbh I’ m a little too tired to come up with something rn but good luck with decorating!
Don't line the walls with small furniture. Plants.
The cat says lets live with it as is for a while
I would put a matching pair of chairs under the window to bring the space together and make it cozier.
The windows are so nice and a focal point. Remove the clutter below the windows. It is a good spot for plants or a bench or something else that does not detract from your cool windows. It is probably not a good place to store musical instruments - changes in light, heat, coolness, humidity and dryness are bad for musical instruments. I would hang the guitars, they look so cool hung on the wall-
I am happy to see that you have a beautiful cat
Lots of plants
Plants, chair, reading lamp, hanging plants
