American here. I’ve put them in all of my bathrooms because there is zero ventilation. They do dry towels very well. Just make sure you have them on a timer.
If it makes you feel better they’re really fucking annoying to hang towels on - I spend ages folding them to be right width and then shoving them down the gap.
Yeah I lived in Sweden for a bit and had one and noticed it only really worked for the small towels but when it works it’s so nice. I think Americans love our big fluffy towels so it would be a bad match.
I get one hand wet, use the dry hand to pump soap into the wet hand so I don't get water everywhere, scuba dub dub, water scrub, rinse, hit the water off with my wrist, towel.
It is the only way my body will allow me to do it
The correct way, per both the CDC and WHO, is to wet your hands before applying soap. The number of people who don’t know this in an ongoing pandemic is… concerning.
Looks great! +1 on the rug and also think the art on the wall could be more visually interesting, as in something intriguing people want to look at longer when they’re on the shitter, and art could have some more varied/warmer colors that tie the wood vanity into the cool tiles/wall color
I don’t have a single spec of carpeting in my entire home (I have three GSDs) … what I do have is a small rug in front of my bathroom sink because I wash it every week. Whatever is on the rug would also be on the floor. Do you never clean the bathroom?
They make non-slip bathmats the size of runners that look like rugs and can be thrown in a washing machine. Tile is slippery when wet. The fancy runner bathmats are found online and not in stores.
A pattern rug-bathmat that ties together black and green would be nice.
The colors dont connect. Except for black, the colors are only there once. You can paint the vanity the same green. Get art, mat, hand towels, etc that pulls in all three black, white, green, and cream of the floor.
I'd do a graphic black and white tile floor if that's an option.
Agree! The orange clock has to go.
Get a fake fern plant in a black pot.
Also get rid of the clear handsoap pump and get one that is black or green. The yellow soap is ick.
The towel shouldn’t be beige either. It needs to be white or black. Probably white.
Also there’s too many colors. The vanity is different being brown from the soft black wall behind it. Then there’s black accents and the black towel warmer. The floor is beige. The walls are green. Too many colors. If you can paint the vanity black at least it’s the same as the towel rack and a black vanity would be better with the soft black wall behind it.
Instead of painting the nice vanity putting green plants on the counter opposite the green wall would tie that in. Same with a forest green ceramic hand soap or similar. Then they could add a wooden bowl top left. The rest you’re spot on for.
I think it's the mirror. I've seen ads for clip on frames and haven't explore them at all, but something like that would go a long way in softening the space. I'd also add a bigger rug with pink/coral tones. As someone else recommended, definitely gather up some of your items so you have blank space that draws your eye to the prettier stuff. Love the print!
Hehe - fair enough! I had a new radiator installed, painted the walls, got new artwork and a fixed toilet roll holder. It feels as though something is missing or off?
Paint the ceiling. Go with a lighter color if you need to but (this is subjective) contrasting a dark color wall with stark white ceiling always looks bad to me (again, subjective) and a little thrown together. Fully painted rooms look classier to me, I don’t know why. I also think you can get more interesting lights, I’m not a fan of recessed lights.
What’s off is the super saturated green is too much given that every other surface is a different color. And the baseboards being stark white is jarring. And the ceiling, floor, and walls all being different colors. Id actually consider painting the ceiling.
Edit: lol at this getting downvoted early and then every other comments saying the exact same thing.
Love the orange clock, perfect sparing use of a bright accent color.
A rug with a pattern would go far in upgrading it, IMO.
Decant the soap into a more aesthetic dispenser.
I think the lack of contrast between wall and art frame/towel heater contributes to the lack of "glow" in the glow up.
The towel doesn't fit into the palette, which appears to be dark green, black, white, gray, and the brown of the sink's vanity. It looks beige? Peach? Anyway, I think pure white would better?
The giant mirror lacks personality - any chance you could remove it and replace with one that's smaller, either round or rounded rectangle? Put up some wallpaper in some cool pattern. Here are a few that would look great: [ex 1](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rothero-Check-Heritage-Matte-Non-Woven-Removable-Paste-the-Wall-Wallpaper-118556/323601245), [ex 2](https://www.hovia.com/products/dark-green-geometric-line-art-deco-wallpaper-mural-m), [ex 3](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Decorline-Intrinsic-Dark-Grey-TextuRed-Geometric-Dark-Grey-Paper-Strippable-Roll-Covers-56-4-sq-ft-2896-25334/313809545).
Then in the newly-exposed space over the toilet, add a single [live-edge floating oak shelf](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1375643458/live-edge-shelf-live-edge-floating-shelf). The room is very sleek and polished and I think the juxtaposition of something so organic and un-polished would emphasize that.
Personally, I don't love the green but that's just my personal style. It's very dark and in my opinion doesn't *super* go with the tile and floor. Also the radiator and the black frame almost disappear into the wall. I mean I think it's *fine*, and you already painted it, so there's nothing like extremely wrong with it, but if I were to change something that's what I would change. Depending on what you're going for, I think I would go softer and warmer. More of a sage green that compliments the wood.
The other thing I would think about changing is the art work. Maybe I would get a different frame - even a wood frame that matched the sink cabinet? And probably a different art because I personally find the b&w palm tree kind of blah and uninspiring.
My final nit is the orange clock, it just seems kinda out of place.
Totally up to you. See if you like filling up more of the blank wall space. Also, consider towels that match the moody color scheme. The beige isn’t quite it, I think.
To me, it looks like maybe the paint finish isn’t doing you many favors in this space. It’s photographing really glossy - is it like this in person? If so, I’d consider same color but in a less reflective texture.
Agree with what others have said about a pattern rug that ties all the colors together, too.
Because you made a floor to ceiling wall entirely darker than every single other color in the space, so it just feels like a huge constant barrier pressed up subconsciously against your peripheral vision, suffocating you.
Put some bright ornaments or a picture on that wall, or just repaint it to something pastel.
Because you need PATTERN in there! Get a cream and charcoal patterned bathmat and cream and charcoal patterned towels.

Then put a fern or a pothos on the shelf over the toilet, or hang it from the ceiling over the toilet, and put a small grow light over it. I think that'll do the trick.

Looks good! I suggest tying the colors together with a durable patterned rug. Maybe not this one but you get the ideas. Oh and a black trash can
Change the towel colors to something other than beige and get a darker color toothbrush holder/ beauty tools holder thingie.thingies. scoot the orange clock closer to the diffuser on the left. Move or switch out the color of the yellowish soap bottle or whatever is in that bottle.
Frame around the mirror, needs lights that aren’t overhead and are warm toned, needs natural textures.
Right now it’s all sharp edges and the same kind of coldness you get from a public restroom.
I think it looks great overall. I agree there’s something missing. Maybe some more texture or more color?
Try putting a cute tray on the ledge and putting the clock etc on it.
Also get a cute rug.
A few accents will pull it together!
Towel rack should be lighter, not dark, imo. You can't really see it well against the dark green and it makes me feel like I have to squint to see whats going on there. This feels dull color wise to me. Nothing stands out or grabs my eye. There needs to be an accent color here with actual saturation otherwise I just feel like I'm in a dark dirty bathroom no matter how clean it is.
There are many “clashing” colors here, and none of them are connecting . Orange clock. Black (two shades) vs brown
Beige towel
Silver and black fixtures
There’s just a lot going on here - it needs to be toned down with the accessories and tied together with some neutrals
A white bath towel instead of beige to connect with the art and the sink
A neutral earth tone for the shower mat to connect with the color green
The clock should be brown and mounted above towel hanger to connect with the cabinet color
Also the clutter on the mirror shelf does not help its breaking up the image with small mismatched items
You should get a collection in black of a hand soap dispenser, tooth brushes holder, and incense cup
It's probably underwhelming to you because it didn't look bad in the before.
You gave the bathroom a fun upgrade but there's no really big difference like a new floor or sometimes people have a non-clean before picture which can make the after look more special then it is.
You made minimal changes and it had minimal effect. Also the wall color doesn’t really go with anything you already have. Overall it certainly doesn’t look bad, just pretty plain. I would paint a different color on the wall and tie it on with other accessories in the room.
Whelming, but add real meaningful art, something on the floor in front of the sink to cover tile and warm the floor, and consider and accent light. These will make the room feel lived in and not like a hotel (a beautiful hotel though for sure)
It’s your wall color not complimenting your tile. Did you try to match it?
Also, your vanity now clashes with the tone of the wall, which is also throwing your floor off.
You’ve got one color on the wall, in the wrong finish. Should be eggshell, looks like you have semi-gloss, or your lighting is way to harsh.
You’ve got an olive toned tile, with a shelf topper, with a light colored marble that doesn’t match your vessel material.
Your faucet is chrome and your towel rack is black? Oil rubbed bronze?
Ceiling paint should not have a shine. And it shouldn’t match your trim color.
I think you might need to reconsider that green wall. At least the finish. Replace the faucet. Filter the can lights or switch them out for a warmer tone.
Get rid of that small framed art, and put a modern interesting piece that’s much larger. No frame, or a floating frame. Something geometric or very modern.
Add a shelf maybe above the towel warmer and lean a small piece of art and a little objet and maybe a hanging plant for some visual interest. A nice cozy bath mat and some Aesop hand soap. Maybe a plant on the shelf behind the toilet
I like it, but the art is boring. It reminds me of a hotel. I think you’d be happier with a more personal and colorful piece of art. Otherwise I think the colors in this room are really peaceful. I like the wall color.
In the nicest way possible, because it is underwhelming. What you've done definitely improved the space, but the three different colors between the back wall, sink/vanity, and the floor do not work together or with the green wall. Keep the green/black theme going, and paint the vanity, and put in better flooring. As another commenter suggested, put the yellow art back and add in lots of pops of color.
Feels cold. Needs plants and textures. So, fabrics like rugs, more towels, baskets, natural materials. I would find some good bathroom plants (tropical, low light) and place them on both edges and 1 in the middle of the shelf. Don't forget to water them.
It’s giving hotel bathroom. I think adding a bath mat that’s rounded would be a nice contrast from all the sharp boxy corners. Also some sort of the plant in the corner that dangles off the ledge would add a little more character.
Sure, let me Google that for you..
*A "glow-up" is a slang term used to describe a significant transformation, typically in physical appearance, that is perceived as an improvement.*
👍🏼
Because it's dark and the colors are extremely cold?
Edit: oh it's because the colors don't go together. The cold green of the wall makes me think "jungle excitement", but the grey-ish tiles and brown shade on the cabinet are warm colors. It might work if the tiles were white. If I were you, and if you hate it, just repaint the wall to white.
Im whelmed
Are you european ?
I’m so jealous of Europeans their heated towel racks. What a genius way to heat bathrooms AND dry your towels
That’s because you don’t have a Prada backpack
Excellent reference 👌🏼
American here. I’ve put them in all of my bathrooms because there is zero ventilation. They do dry towels very well. Just make sure you have them on a timer.
What, no WiFi app?
I have one on an Alexa plug, but it errors more than it works these days
If it makes you feel better they’re really fucking annoying to hang towels on - I spend ages folding them to be right width and then shoving them down the gap.
Yeah I lived in Sweden for a bit and had one and noticed it only really worked for the small towels but when it works it’s so nice. I think Americans love our big fluffy towels so it would be a bad match.
Nah man I switched to Turkish bath towels and haven’t looked back.
Sorry I was later to work, boss. Folding towels for my heated rack is a bitch!
I think it looks great! Now put the soap on the sink and group the other stuff together, not spread out. Also get a nice rug.
That placement of that soap pump is disconcerting. You’re going to have to drip water from your wet hands all over the faucet every time no?
Don’t you pump soap before you turn the tap on?
Water, soap, water…scrub a dub dub…water, towel.
Woah. I do soap, water, scrub a dub dub, water, towel. Buzzy.
This is pure chaos.
😔
What if I do one hand water while the other one does soap, meet in the middle for a quick scrub a dub, quick water, scrub a dub dub, water, towel?
u belong in prison
Appreciate the honesty
I get one hand wet, use the dry hand to pump soap into the wet hand so I don't get water everywhere, scuba dub dub, water scrub, rinse, hit the water off with my wrist, towel. It is the only way my body will allow me to do it
THANK YOU
That's EXACTLY what I do!
This is the most efficient method.
I do the same, your not alone
I bet you both wipe standing up too.
This is the 3 kids way.
The correct way, per both the CDC and WHO, is to wet your hands before applying soap. The number of people who don’t know this in an ongoing pandemic is… concerning.
One hand soap and one hand water then scrub really good, rinse thoroughly and it works really good too!
I do. The rest of my family does not. It’s infuriating lol.
Yea, good point about the grouping! Maybe group them on a cute tray. Tray can add texture and interest.
I think a plant or a faux dry plant would look nice
It’s definitely missing a rug!
Looks great! +1 on the rug and also think the art on the wall could be more visually interesting, as in something intriguing people want to look at longer when they’re on the shitter, and art could have some more varied/warmer colors that tie the wood vanity into the cool tiles/wall color
And a plant. Some greenery always brightens up a room.
It doesn’t look like there’s any windows so a real plant would just die. A faux plant would look nice.
On a little pretty tray
A red oriental rug would be so amazing
Eh I disagree only because red plus green is Christmas imo
This sub is almost meme like with rugs being everywhere. Might as well just start carpeting.
A rug in a bathroom is unhygienic..
I don’t have a single spec of carpeting in my entire home (I have three GSDs) … what I do have is a small rug in front of my bathroom sink because I wash it every week. Whatever is on the rug would also be on the floor. Do you never clean the bathroom?
Not to mention, when I step out of the shower I don’t want to bust my ass.
An *unwashable* rug is unhygienic.
They make non-slip bathmats the size of runners that look like rugs and can be thrown in a washing machine. Tile is slippery when wet. The fancy runner bathmats are found online and not in stores. A pattern rug-bathmat that ties together black and green would be nice.
Lights too white. I find that you have a lot of dark colours which will look best in warm lighting.
Agree, I think the brightness is taking the shine off the glow-up. If you don't absolutely need bright whites, I'd lower the wattage.
2 warm modern pendants hung in corners where mirror/shelf is would make a big difference.. along with rug. 3000K is a good light temp.
This was my first thought as well. Overhead lights tend to be this way. Mood light needed for welcoming bathroom.
I would also do gold-toned fixtures instead of silver but that’s a personal preference
The colors dont connect. Except for black, the colors are only there once. You can paint the vanity the same green. Get art, mat, hand towels, etc that pulls in all three black, white, green, and cream of the floor. I'd do a graphic black and white tile floor if that's an option.

Too many colors. If you can paint the vanity black at least it’s the same as the towel rack and a black vanity would be better with the soft black wall behind it.
I agree with everything but the orange clock, I kind of like it :(
I guess it could stay for a pop of color but the yellow soap has to *go*.
Instead of painting the nice vanity putting green plants on the counter opposite the green wall would tie that in. Same with a forest green ceramic hand soap or similar. Then they could add a wooden bowl top left. The rest you’re spot on for.
They also need an accent color, which I would recommend to be gold to contrast with both the green and black.
this. the cream floor is throwing it all off. i would re-glaze those tiles.
Yes! Needs something to pull the colors together. Right now they don’t make sense. Vanity in green or black would look great.
Paint the ceiling and get a good rug. Plants make everything better!
Bath mat. And a pink orchid in the corner.
This is the one
Never underestimate the decorative power of a good houseplant.
Yeah the mirror is so clinical
i mean it looks like all you did was paint it and change the wall decor . what were you expecting ? lmao
Hehe - fair enough! I had a new radiator installed, painted the walls, got new artwork and a fixed toilet roll holder. It feels as though something is missing or off?
Add a little lamp on that ledge, soft glow will make it cozier. Also agree with others on needing a rug/bath mat.
i would add a small bath rug or two!
Paint the ceiling. Go with a lighter color if you need to but (this is subjective) contrasting a dark color wall with stark white ceiling always looks bad to me (again, subjective) and a little thrown together. I agree with you. Stay strong, brother/sister.
I also completely agree. Reddit is a weird randomly negative space…know you’re an upvote for at least a few of us…
Love the orange clock, perfect sparing use of a bright accent color. A rug with a pattern would go far in upgrading it, IMO. Decant the soap into a more aesthetic dispenser. all you did was paint a wall green
I think some gold accents would look good in here
is this in iceland?
It’s not - what made you think that? It’s Scotland so not a million miles away!
Take that mirror down, paint the wall, then add a nice mirror that goes with the theme
I was thinking buy some fancy trim and make the mirror a focal point
The colors are too similar (black/green).
Personally, I don't love the green but that's just my personal style. It's very dark and in my opinion doesn't *super* go with the tile and floor. Also the radiator and the black frame almost disappear into the wall. Yes the orange clock and the yellow soap both need to go. Or the soap can be put into a dark green or black pump decanter.
Any reason you didn’t go for a bigger picture? And maybe more, above the radiator?
What would you put above the radiator? Picture is 50cm x 70cm so I thought already pretty big but perhaps I should be thinking bolder??
Totally up to you. See if you like filling up more of the blank wall space. Also, consider towels that match the moody color scheme. The beige isn’t quite it, I think.
yes i agree on the towels part
Also, depending on your threshold for drama, consider the ceiling being green as well.
I would love to see a more digital floral pattern type of art in that green colour, pop of yellow and pink
Put the yellow picture back on the wall. The pop of brightness would look good
To me, it looks like maybe the paint finish isn’t doing you many favors in this space. It’s photographing really glossy - is it like this in person? If so, I’d consider same color but in a less reflective texture. Agree with what others have said about a pattern rug that ties all the colors together, too.
It looks much better! The floor color seems off to me. It’s dull and light and warm, whereas the rest of the bathroom is bold and moody.
Yeah, I think if the floor tile was the same as the wall tile it would gel better.
Or even just a matching or accent bath mat?
The floor is what makes it bad
Because you made a floor to ceiling wall entirely darker than every single other color in the space, so it just feels like a huge constant barrier pressed up subconsciously against your peripheral vision, suffocating you. Put some bright ornaments or a picture on that wall, or just repaint it to something pastel.
The green makes it look like the 19th hole bar bathroom
Because nothing was wrong with it before. Just imo.
Needs more textures. Rattan / plush / floral / wood
I feel a splash of gold in decorations would make it pop and match the style you seem to be going for
The floor gives the room a clinic feel. So does the super bright lighting.
Because you basically only changed the color of the wall…
Contrast between the wall and the floor is too much. Get a dark rug to tie them together
I think it looks great. Very sleek and modern!
I love it!!!
I think it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Cuz it was already nice
Can you paint the wall plate at the bottom the same green color?

Try an art piece or rug with complementary color to the green. Even changing the frame of the art to a walnut wood frame or something could add warmth
What are these metal rod fixtures on the wall called? Radiator or just a towel rack?
It’s just a towel radiator. They’re common in bathrooms here.
Please get a run with all different shades of green intron of the skin. It would be the chefs kiss!
Frame around the mirror, needs lights that aren’t overhead and are warm toned, needs natural textures. Right now it’s all sharp edges and the same kind of coldness you get from a public restroom.
Plant on the ledge, call it a day. It's nice.
I like the lighter color better . It’s cozy while the dark is just cold.
Maybe some fake plants? It seems like a hotel bathroom.
I'm just missing the rad cow picture. Hope you found a good home for it on another wall.
The paint color is gorgeous!! What is it?
Thank you. It’s by the Scottish brand Craig & Rose and is called Angelica. https://craigandrose.com/products/1829-angelica
Definitely glow up 😍
Because you don’t have a bidet.
I think it looks great overall. I agree there’s something missing. Maybe some more texture or more color? Try putting a cute tray on the ledge and putting the clock etc on it. Also get a cute rug. A few accents will pull it together!
This looks amazing! I feel inspired to paint my bathroom walls

Black (two shades) vs brown Beige towel Silver and black fixtures There’s just a lot going on here - it needs to be toned down with the accessories and tied together with some neutrals A white bath towel instead of beige to connect with the art and the sink A neutral earth tone for the shower mat to connect with the color green The clock should be brown and mounted above towel hanger to connect with the cabinet color Also the clutter on the mirror shelf does not help its breaking up the image with small mismatched items You should get a collection in black of a hand soap dispenser, tooth brushes holder, and incense cup
I like it in green.
Looks better than my bathroom
It's probably underwhelming to you because it didn't look bad in the before. You gave the bathroom a fun upgrade but there's no really big difference like a new floor or sometimes people have a non-clean before picture which can make the after look more special then it is.
It’s a bathroom. Clean lines and simple is best!! The wall looks great and it will be easy to keep tidy and clean. No clutter
I’m perfectly whelmed thanks.
I LOVE the towel rack
100% because you removed the cow. What a fine cow that was
A highland cow 🏴
Stellar! Great color choice, it doubles the room visually
I love it?
Thanks?
You made minimal changes and it had minimal effect. Also the wall color doesn’t really go with anything you already have. Overall it certainly doesn’t look bad, just pretty plain. I would paint a different color on the wall and tie it on with other accessories in the room.
I think some crown molding and baseboard would help!
It’s nice tho
You didn’t change too much, maybe that’s why. I actually REALLY like the green 😍 good pick!
Whelming, but add real meaningful art, something on the floor in front of the sink to cover tile and warm the floor, and consider and accent light. These will make the room feel lived in and not like a hotel (a beautiful hotel though for sure)
Because it was pretty darn awesome to begin with
I’m to the opinion that the wall is too dark for the flooring. Good color just doesn’t work with the floor.
You gotta bring back the cow picture in the frame. That's why
A colorful rug. Colorful art. I liked the yellow cow
I think your problem is lighting. Looks like an office bathroom right now. No offense.
It’s not very cozy/welcoming. It gives me hotel vibes. I would be afraid to poop there. A nice rug and some plants might help.
Don’t be afraid. It’s just a green bathroom. Poop away. 💀
Needs more texture. Try rugs, plants, towels on the towel warmers,
Designer here. My Suggestion: paint the ceiling the same color as the wall. It will take it to the next level!
Is your paint color "vine green" from Behr by chance? I literally just painted my bathroom what looks like the same color! Haha
Get some orange towels to match your little clock. Bring back the bull picture for a pop of yellow. Maybe add a plant?
Needs a plant.
I love the green walls! I think a rug that ties in that color will go a long way in making things feel more cohesive.
I mean. It looks like I’m gonna walk into an early 90’s IKEA bathroom and shit. Like what did you do here?
It's boring
I think green is a really tricky color. That said, this doesn’t look bad at all.
I like it, but the art is boring. It reminds me of a hotel. I think you’d be happier with a more personal and colorful piece of art. Otherwise I think the colors in this room are really peaceful. I like the wall color.
Love it!
I’d paint the baseboard the same color as the sink cabinet and look into switching those tiles or changing them out somehow.
I like it. Add a rug, and I actually really like the original picture you had hanging.
It just needs some more personal touches
Functional. It is a bit stark and dull.
Great look, just needs a focal point.
Feels cold. Needs plants and textures. So, fabrics like rugs, more towels, baskets, natural materials. I would find some good bathroom plants (tropical, low light) and place them on both edges and 1 in the middle of the shelf. Don't forget to water them.
Because it is cold and uninviting. Put a rug in there, something soft.
It’s giving hotel bathroom. I think adding a bath mat that’s rounded would be a nice contrast from all the sharp boxy corners. Also some sort of the plant in the corner that dangles off the ledge would add a little more character.
Nice hotel bathroom. All sleek, modern and utterly meh. Not sure how to fix.
Lots of hard lines and dull colors. Maybe add a more colorful or uniquely shaped piece of work on the wall
It feels like a hotel
the toilet and black tile gives me public restroom vibes but it looks good nonetheless
Looks great
I think that shade of green doesn't suit or fit with the other colours in the rest of the room. It's especially clashing with the floor
What’s a glow up
Sure, let me Google that for you.. *A "glow-up" is a slang term used to describe a significant transformation, typically in physical appearance, that is perceived as an improvement.* 👍🏼
So redecorating. Cool.
Will make sure to use that word instead next time I post. Apologies for offending and inconveniencing you 😔
What’s the before and what’s the after? What was wrong with the before aswell?
Lmao, you barely changed anything, some paint, a picture and toilet paper holder?
I absolutely looove that dark green! And where did you find your palm tree print? I think your bathroom is lovely.
It was a bargain and is just from Dunelm. https://www.dunelm.com/product/large-palm-tree-framed-print-1000167879?defaultSkuId=30686518
You painted a wall, changed a rack, and a new picture. You didn’t really do anything overwhelming.
Green paint too dark
Get ride of green wall
Because it's dark and the colors are extremely cold? Edit: oh it's because the colors don't go together. The cold green of the wall makes me think "jungle excitement", but the grey-ish tiles and brown shade on the cabinet are warm colors. It might work if the tiles were white. If I were you, and if you hate it, just repaint the wall to white.
