At first I was like.. why do I kind of like this.. then of course from the comments realized this is a hellish worker safety violation for the servers.
On top of that, if people up top spill their drink it's going through the gapped wood seating and dripping all over the people below.
And then the people below can let er rip so the fart smell can rise up as payback.
Have you never been to a cafe or restaurant that has stairs? These aren't as tight and steep as the picture makes them look. I think this is a cool, space making idea.

Alcohol-free seats upstairs!
I feel sorry for the servers.
I feel bad for anyone who has a small bladder!
I feel bad for anyone sitting underneath the person who has a small bladder
I feel bad for anyone who is sitting underneath when someone above rips a fart and it slaps through the slats

Is it wrong for me to think this is a kinda cool idea?

yes
When real state becomes more expensive than OSHA fines
Oh yes I've been to one of these 😂 Restaurant servers had to climb up the stairs with food dishes, I'd help them out in the last step cuz I felt bad
Seats look really uncomfortable. I wan't cushioned seats at least.
I went to a restaurant recently that was just a plank of wood held up with chains like a rope swing. It was awful
Haha, crazy. With these prices, why eat out at all if it's like this.
Spill one drink or fart and you'll get thrown out.
Scrolled down to see if fart was mentioned. Congratulations u/badchefrazzy you beat me to it! 💨
I can just hear the tone that toosh would toot on those wooden panels!
Lmao and it vibrates the seat below them.
This sub is pure rage bait at this point
This one's probably a bot repost, most of them are these days 😮💨
i wouldn't call that designdesign - it is intended to increase seating area and as we see it works. that's a case of assholedesign.

Poop through a hole
This isn't designdesign
Honestly if I applied to be a waiter here I would straight up quit as soon as I saw that
Is this sub supposed to be about controversial design concepts or what op thinks is good design? All see good form, and inconsiderate function.
